Ok quick poll : been offered induction on Friday as they have room compared to Monday ..... what to do??!!!!

Baby 1/5 so it's just this buggery cervix!!!!

EggNogMichelle · 05/12/2012 09:55

Welcome back Ivana, it's lovely that lots of old names are coming back for the home stretch, very exciting! My family are also getting lots of home mades from me, yesterday I made a batch of apple sauces, today it will be mint sauce from my mint in the garden. Also knitting little Elvis Presley, Marilyn Monrow and Jimi Hendrix dolls!

Glad the bf perseverance it paying off, it sounds like hard work, but worth it in the end, like a battle of wills!

We don't have snow :( we get snowed in every year, I love the adventure and expedition of getting out of it, but I suppose it's not very practical this year!

EggNogMichelle · 05/12/2012 09:58

Friend your BP was probably up because of the anxiety of the situation, glad it's come back down.

Clarella I would take up the offer, but that's cause this baby it annoying me with his lack of respect from my organs and personal space!

brooke89 · 05/12/2012 10:10

Thanks for all your kind words ladies Smile

Still hardly any movement clarella don't think I felt LO at all throughout the night and have tried cold drink this morning and nothing so just about to head up to DAU Now.

RudolphTheRedNosedGiraffe · 05/12/2012 10:16

Friend, if you went to the hospital because you were worried, wouldn't that explain higher than normal blood pressure? The MW sent me to have something checked a couple of weeks ago and I was really stressed about it, and when they measured my blood pressure at hospital it was quite a bit higher (although mine is usually low so was still in normal limits).

SpottyTeacakes · 05/12/2012 10:30

Clarella what method of induction will they use? I've never been past 36 weeks and that was bad enough so I would probably take it but ask for the pessary like I had as it's much gentler.

kate2boysandabump · 05/12/2012 10:33

Good luck mamapo

Clarella when do you have to decide by? How happy are you to keep sitting it out?

Sat in the blood test queue, again. Then off the DAU for monitoring, again. Bloody high blood pressure. I've still not recovered from last week's mauling, so dreading this.

Midwife examined me again this morning, cervix forward, 2cm and bulging waters. Come on baby!!

FriendofDorothy · 05/12/2012 10:37

Bugger it. I have made it to 38+3 with no new stretchmarks but this morning I noticed a couple of tell tale red marks that looks like they are imminent. Balls! :(

Honeycantthinkofanxmasnickname · 05/12/2012 10:40

clarella what did midwife say yesterday? Was cervix any more favourable? When do you need to let them know by ?

Good luck at DAU brooke and kate

CODwidow · 05/12/2012 10:42

On phone so losing track a little Blush

Well still pregnant here, was woken 3 times in the night with really strong contractions but just went straight back to sleep afterwards as tbh I'm bored with it! Then up at 6:45ish with really bad period type cramps and tightenings, still losing snot like discharge (sorry tmi) but once again all seems to have died down again! Grrr so fed up with the on/off

Secondsop · 05/12/2012 10:44

clarella if it were me I'd take the induction but as spotty says, find out what method they'll start with and whether that is likely to do the trick or cervix effacement. I had the gel and that turned out to be all I needed for the whole thing.

kate bulging waters sounds promising!

friend re your BP, did they talk to you during the taking of it? my community midwife does this ALL THE TIME and it's so irritating; she then remembers that you're not meant to talk during it and tells me to shush when I reply to her questions.

Clarella · 05/12/2012 10:45

I was fine to sit it out but then thought what diff does 3 days really make?! But then thought actually could be a lot. Cervix is still posterior. Mw at hospital said can be offered 41-42 wks and no diff in outcomes etc. Stone of me thought that if on Friday they might let it go slow - so yes pessary etc slowly as ling as baby ok. Ffs I'm shit at decision making!!!!!

Honeycantthinkofanxmasnickname · 05/12/2012 10:48

If they think they're gonna be busy clarella it will probably be more relaxing (!) on Friday? I'd go for it as would be desperate by now.

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 05/12/2012 10:49

Good luck to every one who's being monitored.

clarella I would be inclined to take the Friday slot, but then I'm 38+3 and incredibly fed up already (even though I have the guarantee that I won't go past 39+6).

Well I am now waxed. Boy did that sting! I am glad it's done now and I don't have to worry about it for labour. Now I need to follow in the footsteps of weejo and have my waters break in a few hours! Grin

Hopefully off to see a good friend this afternoon who's just had a hip replacement (she's only 38 bless her). She's a star and I loves her, so while I've got the car I want to visit!

Honeycantthinkofanxmasnickname · 05/12/2012 10:55

Re: lady garden maintenance - all my worrying about what to do was pointless when went into labour so early. I hoped they realised I hadnt been ready! I was more embarrassed by my legs which hadn't been shaved for quite a while!

Clarella · 05/12/2012 10:58

Thanks guys - I think it's the whole 'more likely to need intervention etc' but tbh out of all those I know who went over and or had induction it seems to be no hard or fast rules either way - some needed c section when induced, some were fine, some made it before induction resulting in both normal birth but also one had 5 days of labour which resulted in c section anyway!

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 05/12/2012 11:00

Oh honey they won't have judged. I never bothered with the other dcs, but after having had a Hollywood (shaved) for the last 4years, I was getting irritated by it. I did apologise and tell her I hadn't been able to see/reach for months!

WillYuleDoTheFandango · 05/12/2012 11:10

I've completely lost the plot with the thread, it's moved on too fast. Good luck to everyone being monitored/induced today.

Clarella I'd be tempted to take the Friday slot too. What would happen if they didn't have a bed on Monday? Would they send you elsewhere?

I really need to pack my hospital bag today, but it involves sorting out the baby's cupboard as everything is just thrown in right now. Steeling myself for this afternoon.

Day 3 of mat leave and I've had a phonecall this morning and 4 texts on Monday. Angry I wish they'd leave me alone!

WillYuleDoTheFandango · 05/12/2012 11:13

From work I mean, brain gone to mush

emilyeggs · 05/12/2012 11:27

clarella I would go for Friday also, but i'm just impatient and want my body back Smile

2blessed · 05/12/2012 11:59

Bring on the bulging waters kate!

Good luck everyone who is getting checked out today.

Well, the car seat arrived but no uppababy! Waiting to find out if its on another van. Grrrrr.

Having a few period type cramps but doubt its starting. Well I hope not as dont get tens machine until friday Confused

pmgkt · 05/12/2012 12:03

I'm 36+4 and just had midwife appointment, normal one is sick so had a nice stand in one. Who discovered I'm now breech, no questions. She has booked me in for an urgent scan so now got that on Friday lunch time which will be 37 exactly. Hubby goes away on Friday morning til Monday night. Great timing. If its still breech I will then need a more detailed scan, then to see the doctors to discuss plan. I'm happy for a section as I had one last time. Has anyone ever had a baby turned? How does it work, what do they do etc. I can feel the head at the top and can move it, its freaky

gilsbubbles · 05/12/2012 12:12

clarella if theres any chance of things progressing naturally I'd wait till monday. But thats me speaking personally cause I really want to be in the midwife led home from home unit and have a water birth, which I know won't be allowed if I have to be induced and put on monitors.
I'm only 3 days over though so may well be doing a complete u turn in sa week by three time I'm I'm your position

cherrypiew3 · 05/12/2012 12:16

Kate Bulging waters sounds promising.

Ivana Welcome back I have noticed a change in movements dd use to be very active in the morning but now she is very quite in the mornings and pretty active in the evening.

Seconds Sorry to hear you are back in hospital.

Spotty Hope the heating and hot water get fixed soon.

Good luck Mamapo

Clarella Both me and baby are measuring small I have done all the way through measuring all most a month behind what I should. Have been having growth scans through out but last week dd started to mearsure small also. Have an appointment with the consultant tomorrow mw wants to have the fluid around baby checked. She seems to think they will offer induction for Friday.
Have you decided what to do about tomorrow I have been against having induction had one with dd. DH pointed out last night why I was crying over the thought of it again that I have to do this at some point so I may as well just get on with it. Good luck what ever you decide to do.

ellliebelle · 05/12/2012 12:21

spotty hope you get your heating sorted soon its getting soooo cold :(

clarella good luck with whatever decision you make. I would be useless too as i duction is last thingbi want but already so fed up at 37+2 i think by 40+ i could be swayed

kate, brooke hope the monitoring goes well

Ive just tried to express some colostrum and cant even manage 0.1ml :(
