racquel so sorry for your loss (((gentle hugs))). Good to hear you are jumping straight back into SWI and please come back and keep us posted on BFP news.

Bodice thinking of you

Guavasforbreakfast · 05/12/2012 18:48

Raquel & Bodice so sorry to hear your news.

Cutandstick hope you start to feel better soon and that everything's ok.

Special thanks for sharing your good news, it made me feel a little better about my scan tomorrow, have been very nervous about it and it's really good to hear positive stories!

photographerlady · 05/12/2012 18:50

flying mines at 8 weeks 1 day, this Friday my booking appointment

Guavasforbreakfast · 05/12/2012 18:54

Oh and flying I had my first appointment with mw at 7+3 last friday, but haven't heard about my booking appointment yet.

elliejjtiny · 05/12/2012 19:14

raquel and bodice sending a big unmumsnetty hug to you both.

flying I haven't got my booking in appointment organised yet but I have my scan next friday (11+4) so will have my booking appointment at 13+4 if I can get an appointment or 14+4 if I can't.

Been panicking a bit today. Retched a bit this morning, bit of nausea the rest of the day but not much. With my last pregnancy the symptoms stopped at 10 weeks and then I found out at the scan that the baby had died at 9 weeks. I can't lose this baby too, not when the duchess of cambridge's pregnancy/baby will be a constant reminder of what I should have had. I've got a scan next friday but that seems ages away. I'm wondering whether to eat/drink something that normally makes me throw up as a test but that seems like a daft thing to do!

AmelieRose · 05/12/2012 19:18

So sorry raquel and bodice.

I finally got through to the EPU today and getting a scan on Friday. So relieved, at least til Friday arrives.

Thanks to everyone for your reassurance and kind words. As you can probably tell this is my first pregnancy so lots of hand holding required! Grin

Thinkingof4 · 05/12/2012 19:25

Amelie thank goodness you managed to get through, fx for Friday

raquel and bodice really sorry to hear your news

cutandstick blimey you are having a rotten time! Hope you feel better soon

Well Chinese gender predictor thinks I'm having a girl, but was only right for 2/3 of my boys so not that accurate really! I definitely won't be wanting to find out gender at 20 week scan, I didn't with any of the others and it's such a lovely surprise at the end of labour. I expect I'll have another boy which would give me a lovely family of 4 boys and I'd be delighted with that. Or a girl of course!!
Lots of snow up here in Scotland, but managed to get to and from work ok over a very twisty road so my snow- driving skills must be improving! Looking forward to the thaw though

MightBeMad · 05/12/2012 20:13

Ellie it can be perfectly normal for symptoms to fluctuate please try not to panic!

Guavas good luck for your scan tomorrow!

Amelie I think you join a whole bunch of us with scans on Friday. Fx for good news all round x

paolocee · 05/12/2012 20:31

Raquel & Bodice Really so sorry to hear your news. It's happened to us. We know how awful it feels.

Mightbemad You're spot on. We've been TTC for 5 years. We're probably being too cautious but we really don't care.

PrincessLlama Yes, is big in Sweden. Not so much where we are though - Donna's the first Zumba instructor in the area. A lot of dischuffed Swedes at the moment. Do we care?

We're 8 weeks tomorrow. God, how these weeks drag.

paolocee · 05/12/2012 20:57

And elliejjtiny, what Mightbemad said. She knows her onions.

flyingsprocket · 05/12/2012 21:07

The midwife rang tonight & I have my booking appointment on Dec 21st- I'll be 8+3 then. So excited! I think the fact that I've been off work for 3 weeks makes everything seem as if its going so slowly.

Watching Nigella & Jamie's Christmas cooking programmes simultaneously in preparation for my first Christmas dinner as host!

CottonSock · 05/12/2012 22:33

Oh nooo. Bodice I'm so sorry for you. Miscarriage is totally and utterly shit. For me, I felt I did think I recovered emotionally more quicky after finding out earlier on second time I had a MC - or maybe just knowing what to expect. I hope you get your good news soon.

Photographerlady I had hirrid stomach cramps around 9 weeks after eating large meals. Had to lighty snack for a few days, but now seems to have vanished as just had a huge meal and only marginally bloated. Last night Toby Cavery (staying away with work) and looked at least 5 months gone..!
I am only short and quite slim does that mean I will show sooner??

hope everyone else ok..

BooStar · 06/12/2012 00:03

Is anyone else getting bad skin? I'm slightly concerned as I've always got hormone related spots that flare up when I'm pre-menstrual and in the last week I've broken out terribly. I used to be on the pill for my skin and I always thought that worked by simulating pregnancy so I don't really understand why I suddenly have the skin of a teenage boy!! Confused

On another note - I can't stop eating pickled onion monster munch. Maybe the two are related!!

mysterymeg · 06/12/2012 07:06

Realise the thread has moved on but thanks everyone who was reassuring about the spotting. It seemed to be going away yesterday afternoon but I have not yet got up this morning.

dinky this will be my first baby (if everything goes ok) but have had two miscarriages in past (6 and 7 years ago). Do you think this would count as a subsequent pregnancy?

I have the doctors appt in hour and half. V nervous. Midwife reckons I'll be sent for a scan today. Got MIL on standby as don't want to be alone Sad

Persuasion · 06/12/2012 07:12

bodice and raquel so sorry. I'm thinking of you both.

wifey we definitely want to find out the gender, I'm not good at surprises! The gender predictors say girl, I 'feel' like it's a boy. One of us has to be right!

esme my scan is also christmas eve.

Had my booking appointment yesterday, and heard the heartbeat with doppler! So exciting, due to occasional spotting I had convinced myself something had gone wrong. But so far so good. Fingers crossed it stays that way!

Good luck to others with upcoming scans/midwives.

Persuasion · 06/12/2012 07:13

Oh, and I meant to say to cut things sound pretty crap, I hope you feel bettwer soon, and baby is ok tucked away in there.

Those with SPD it sounds horrible, hoping this time isn't so bad, and the rest of us escape it!

elliejjtiny · 06/12/2012 07:54

Had some water and then spent the whole evening retching. Today I feel yuk but less panicky. Not sure how I'm going to drink a pint of water next friday, I'm thinking the scanner up the fanjo option will be preferable to trying to drink a pint of water without bringing it back up.

Wifey I'm hoping to have a surprise this time although I had so many scans last time I will need a lot of willpower for that. I already have 3 boys though so I think a girl is fairly unlikely.

chocolateteabag · 06/12/2012 09:00

Hi "ellie" - transvaginal scan isn't that bad - it's really just the tip of the massive condom covered wand that goes in. DH was scared for me last week when sonographer was getting is ready - but really nothing to worry about

Well looks like DS has chickenpox - which means at least a week off nursery which clearly we have to still pay for. Plus side is that I may get my mum to come over next week to childcare

Boo - I'm getting spots around my jaw line. I am 36 and have never not had at least one somewhere - but this is such a pain.

Chinese baby calendar says I'm having a girl, was right with DS so we'll see...

Bessie123 · 06/12/2012 10:17

Hello all. I have been working too much, 15 hour days, and coming home too exhausted to look at mn. But I have caught up now and am so, so sorry to see more bad news. bodice and raquel I hope you are ok.

Thank you all so much for your kind messages. Epu wouldn't scan me unless I was bleeding so much that it soaked through a whole sanitary towel. Which I wasn't. And then the bleeding stopped again. So I'm back where I was before. I do have a scan booked in 2 weeks so I just have to wait.

dinkystinky · 06/12/2012 10:37

Bodice - huge hugs.

Cut - hugs to you too. Keeping my fingers crossed for your scan today.

AmelieRose - glad you've got to speak to someone and are having a scan tomorrow. Hope it brings you reassurance all is ok.

Bessie - hugs to you. Be kind to yourself and try not to worry. As I said upthread, a friend of mine bled through her pregnancy with her DD and both she and the baby were fine.

Special - glad you had a good scan.

Boo - I'm a bit spotty and tired. That and achy boobs (the cold doesnt help) are about my only pregnancy symptons though, so I'm having it easy compared to so many.

Still no snow where we are (zone 2, NW London) or on my journey into central London today. Glad your snow missed us Arkady - our tube (which is part overground) and overground trains seem to stop working at the merest hint of the white stuff. Our nanny is off sick with a D&V bug so my MIL (who thank god is retired and an absolute lifesaver) is down to help with DS2 (who has half day nursery) and DS1 after school today and is going to take them to the local winter gathering in our local park after school. DS1 is hoping for snow. I on the other hand am keeping my fingers crossed it passes us by.

MightBeMad · 06/12/2012 10:37

Oh Bessie. More waiting! Hopefully the silver lining to the long work days is that it's keeping you distracted?

Ellie don't worry too much about the pint of water. I've never had a problem yet with scans even when delays in the waiting room have forced me to give up holding on and empty my bladder before a scan it's always been ok. And as others say, transvaginal is not actually that bad x

photographerlady · 06/12/2012 10:42

Morning!!!! Had my early scan today and could see the little heartbeat they even had a little rhythm sound (too early for Doppler). I wanted to criy the whole scan - three years of TTC and fertilty treatment I have a little bean perfectly the right size for 8 weeks. If your in London I highly recommend Fetal Medicine Centre, Dr Maria was so informative and the whole 30 minute scan described everything to us.

wifey6 · 06/12/2012 10:44

photographer...that's wonderful news Smile

dinkystinky · 06/12/2012 10:46

Xmas Grin Photographerlady - that's great news!

missmaybe · 06/12/2012 10:54

Oh goodness, big hugs to everyone who's having a sad or uncertain time at the moment.

ellie, I have been worrying about exactly the same thing as my symptoms have eased a lot over the last couple of days (I'm 8 weeks and have miscarried before too). I guess it's hard not to worry. Best of luck for your scan and I hope it's reassuring.
