I'm still waiting to speak to the EPU. Have been having brownish bleeding for 8 days and when I phoned the EPU they told me to retest and phone today if I was still pregnant and they'd arrange an early scan.

I had a right old palaver today trying to speak to someone... Midwife busy when I phoned first thing (perfectly understandable), when they phoned me back I couldn't answer as I'm a teacher and was in class, when I phoned back it kept ringing out or was engaged. It closed at 4 but was engaged from 2.30 until well after 4!

My poor husband doesn't know what to do with me as I keep bursting into tears and fearing the worst. Fingers crossed they are able to book me in tomorrow for an early scan....

chocolateteabag · 04/12/2012 19:34

Hi mysterymeg and Amelie - I've been having on and off red & brown discharge (yuk) for the past 2 weeks. Had a scan last week which seemed ok but small and have another next week just to check it's progressing
Was told by the sonographer that some people just bleed more because our hormones make the cervix more prone to it. Once you get a graze, it can then just keep bleeding. But only way to be sure is to have a look up there and I didn't feel like a speculum up the fanjo last week.
I do notice I get more blood after a big poo bowel movement, so hoping that is what it is, maybe brave and get them to look next week or wimp out again

ArkadyRose · 04/12/2012 19:35

AmelieRose Go to A&E. They can scan you there, and you'll be seen much faster. Just tell them you're pregnant & bleeding & you should be prioritised & seen quite fast - it's what my midwife has advised me to do.

mysterymeg I had brown discharge with DD3 and she was fine.

chocolateteabag · 04/12/2012 19:36

Basically if no cramps or clots - she said it should be ok but I'm too call them or go to A&E if this happens

This is my second and I did have a bit of brown and red discharge the last time, just not as much as this

Guavasforbreakfast · 04/12/2012 19:46

Hugs for people waiting on second scan, hope you find out soon and that it's good news.

Got a call to say my private scan had to be cancelled Hmm but then they said they could move it to this Thurs afternoon! 8 days earlier than the other one. The nerves are really hitting now, esp with so many here seeming to be having scares/bad news at the early scan.

Glad I'm taking my class on a trip that day as I don't think I'd be able to teach properly with the anticipation.

AmelieRose · 04/12/2012 19:57

Thanks Chocolate - think you were one of the lovely people who commented on a thread where I asked for advice - hoping it'll be erosion or maybe related to an IBD condition I have.

Am going to go into work early tomorrow so I'm ensconced with my fingers on the number when they open at 8 (was nearly late for school this morning with hanging around. If I don't get anywhere tomorrow I'm going to weep down the phone to my GP and ask them to phone (this worked for my friend in a similar situation).

I appreciate they're very busy but there's not even an answering machine and I've had my details taken 5 times by 5 different people, only for someone to call me back with a message that she had been handed my name and number but had no idea why she had to phone me Confused. At least she was apologetic. Hoping for better news tomorrow or the big guns will be coming out...

missmaybe · 04/12/2012 20:02

Keeping my fingers crossed for you, Racquel and BoyMeetsWorld - I'm sorry you're having tough times.

AmelieRose, that sounds really stressful and I hope you get your scan soon and have some reassurance. Don't hesitate to cry if it helps get that damn scan - better do it in public and get some help (hopefully!) than end up crying in private after putting on a brave face. People just don't realise how stressful and upsetting it is to have to wait with everything hanging in the balance, not knowing what's happening.

Camb79, how exciting to see a little heartbeat flickering!

MightBeMad · 04/12/2012 20:19

Meg tea bag and others having bleeding/spotting, if it helps, I had brown bleeding/spotting off and on in my pg with my dd from 7 weeks to 24 weeks and she was fine! Hope that gives you hope.

Niktasha · 04/12/2012 21:23

I was sent for a scan today with bleeding and pain for a few days but all is well.. I had this last time too so don't despair. It might be nothing.

Cheeseandbread · 04/12/2012 21:44

Thanks Orange, Missmaybe and Dinky for advice on nose bleeds. Never realised it could be a pregnancy symptom.

Sorry to hear some are having bleeding problems.

Shattered after school trip today and feeling bloated after supper. Boobs still aching and tingling.

marimama · 05/12/2012 00:06

Sorry for everyone going through scary days of bleeding/spotting/scans. Fingers crossed for all of you!

Have lost count of how many of us are teachers. Seems like there are a lot of us!!

Nothing to report today except constant boob squeeze. Posted on general pregnancy area, but would be happy to get any suggestions for relief here, too. Ouch. Sad

Runswithsquirrels · 05/12/2012 03:20

Well, I've just discovered why we're not meant to sleep on our backs - numb thigh! Of course, I can't get back to sleep now.

Thoughts with all of you having a scary time xx

thinkingpositivethoughts · 05/12/2012 08:00

Marimama, have you been fitted for a new bra? My boobs are also killing me but once I got a more supportive bra I was far less aware of them, although still hurts quite a bit.

I'm off to the midwife today- 8+3. Eek! Bit nervous as the weekend after the mw appointment was when I mc last time. Hoping for an uneventful weekend!

ArkadyRose · 05/12/2012 08:05

Runswithsquirrels The no sleeping on your back thing doesn't apply until quite significantly later in pregnancy - the baby can press on the vena cava, cutting off blood supply, but right now the baby is so tiny that the womb hasn't even lifted up over the pelvis yet and certainly not large enough to press on anything. So whatever's caused your numb thigh it won't have been sleeping on your back whilst pregnant that did it.

OP posts:
Runswithsquirrels · 05/12/2012 09:02

That's what I thought too Arkady, I just couldn't think of anything else to put it down to. Very weird sensation.

specialknickers · 05/12/2012 09:16

Amelie, chocolate and everyone else with spotting and worrying scans, I just wanted to send you all a big unmnetty hug. Its so horrible and so unfair and quite often the way you get treated by the EPU / midwife just makes it all feel so much more stressful (not calling a pregnant woman back when she's that upset? Just cruel). I'm keeping everything crossed for you all today.

Sadly I've had mcs before, and it may or may not help to know (they're all different of course) that both times (MMC with a bad scan) and spontanious MC, both at 8ish weeks, that the symptoms were totally unmistakable. I just knew.

Apologies for posting something so sad, I just wanted to offer a bit of support. I know what a lonely time it is.

I've got another scan today myself. Fingers crossed all is okay. My pelvis seems to have fallen apart (again - had terrible PGP / SPD with DS) and I'm in a lot of pain already. 8 weeks and I'm having trouble walking and getting off the sofa... I'm hoping this is a good sign!

wifey6 · 05/12/2012 09:20

special...hope scan goes well today.
I can sympathise with the pelvic discomfort. Hmm
Been suffering since 7+ weeks & I'm only 9+2.
What do you do to make things easier?

RacquelWelsh · 05/12/2012 09:53

Morning ladies. Good luck to all those having scans/spotting/in limbo hell.

Am removing myself from the list (with a hangover, following 2 glasses of wine!) as have miscarried. Am OK, having a toddler helps to distract me and am so lucky to have him. Despite feeling sad, I can honestly say that having my son is the best thing I've ever done in my life and I wish you all the best for uneventful and straightforward pregnancies. I'll be back on that horse (metaphorically of course) as soon as possible :-)

racquel...so sorry for your loss Sad
Your LO will really help you through this awful time. Thoughts are with you x

MightBeMad · 05/12/2012 10:16

Racquel so sorry for your loss. I hope the wine and cuddles with your little one see you through.

Special and anyone else having a scan today - good luck!

More brownish slime Blush here but I'm managing to stay relatively calm as I had it with DD. Scan on Friday and I'm counting down the days! I called my midwife on Monday and Tuesday and left messages saying I wanted to speak to her as I had spotting and still no call back Hmm Given I haven't even spoken to her yet, this is not giving me a good first impression of her abilities...

Hope evryone is not too inconvenienced by the snow today!

dinkystinky · 05/12/2012 10:22

Racquel - so sorry for your loss. Big hugs and best wishes to you and your family x

AmelieRose - hope you get to see a midwife today. If no joy, do go to A&E.

MysteryMeg - I had brown discharge with DS2 too. Midwife said to me it is more common in second plus pregnancies. Hope you get your scan soon and it puts your mind to rest.

Mightbemad - no snow where I am (London). Hope it stays away as London grinds to a halt at the merest hint of the white stuff!

MrsWildermac · 05/12/2012 10:26

So sorry for all those of you that have had losses :(.

Panicking a bit here myself as appear to have no symptoms whatsoever...have never had really strong, obvious symptoms apart from tiredness abduction sore boobs. Don't know if I should do anything like contact EPAS or just hold off and be thankful that I'm not feeling horrendous!

emblosion · 05/12/2012 10:29

Oh raquel I'm sorry to hear that :(

I'm thinking of everyone that is having bleeding or a worrying time.

No snow here in NI, its a lovely day - sunny and cold.

specialknickers · 05/12/2012 10:36

wifey - you too? You poor poor woman. It's horrible isn't it? I can't help thinking I might be on crutches in a few weeks if it gets worse. I terrifying thought with a non-walking 3 year old (he can walk, he just sort of chooses to look at stuff on the road A LOT and in GREAT DETAIL and VERY VERY SLOWLY instead)... I'm trying not to pick him up as much, but that's really hard especially when he's having a meltdown and refusing to come out of the toilets in the library.

I've contacted the Pelvic Partnership people to see if they can recommend an osteopath / pysio where I live, but I'm not sure what else I can do at the moment. Keeping your knees together when turning over in bed / getting up out of bed is good, as is taking small steps when walking instead of big ones and I'm not doing any other excercise (more's the pity, I'm a bit chubby at the moment unfortunately)... any other tips gladly received!
