LexiandBeanette · 17/12/2012 11:34

Ahh sundae hope you don't fall over and have a good haircut!
zoey I've never had BH but hope all is OK. Give your consultant a call!

Thanks for builder advice/sympathy. The problem is that the structural/steel work the architect recommended is a lot more pricy than the original plan, according to the builder. The annoyance is that he only looked at it in detail at the weekend after lots of assurance it would have minimal impact!
DH & I have been through everything and have worked out we can increase slightly, so we will try and negotiate this evening. We can't borrow on our mortgage as with DH's uncertain income and my SMP looming we won't be able to pay much more, and I'm not sure they will lend to us. If he can't meet our price we will scrap it and look for a new builder once baby arrives. DH doesn't think this is deliberate by the builder but I am fuming and feel a little held to ransom!! Trying to be super rational!

OodKingWenceslas · 17/12/2012 11:56

zoey with your history get checked out!

Emsyboo · 17/12/2012 14:39

Just catching up on all your threads will take a while.
I have been fed up me and DH had a big row and I left him we are sorting things out but talking some time in the mean time I have been in hospital 2 times in 10 days with bleeds due to placenta preavia really hard when DS needs me at home with him.
Cannot wait to get past the 30 week stage at the mo! Although docs are threatening bed rest or hospital admission from 32 weeks if things continue as they are but hoping for a christmas miracle when I see consultant on Christmas eve.

Lexi - how awful of the builders I hope you can find someone better or come to a compromise they should have anticipated all costs at the beginning.

pinkpeony4 · 17/12/2012 14:40

Lexi that is seriously shit and stressful. What a massive price difference. I hope you manage to do some good negotiating tonight.

Zoey definitely get checked out. Hopefully it's not early labour but you need to be careful.

Ood thanks so much for the bra recommendation. It's such an amazing shape. Normally strapless bras look crap but this one is brilliant!

Sundae Enjoy your day off and well done for being so organised. I have bought everything & it's in the cellar but it makes me feel exhausted looking at the giant pile so haven't managed to wrap anything yet! I always take the Children's toys out of their packaging and put batteries in/construct them before wrapping so they don't get frustrated on xmas day but this just makes my wrapping take even longer! (So many Children's toys need a screwdriver to take them out of the packaging?! Xmas Confused

All good here. Had a busy weekend and a night out Xmas Shock on Saturday night. It was a festive drinks party with incredible canapes (full roast turkey dinner in a small bowl etc..). I had 1.5 glasses of champagne which is the first time this pregnancy I have been able to face drink. Home and in bed by 10.30 and felt terrible yesterday. So exhausted... I really need early nights in pregnancy. Think I will be a hermit until I am due now Xmas Wink. 29 + 3 now and definitely feeling better (aches and pains wise) than I did with ds3, maybe that's due the Chiropractor, who knows but definitely not complaining.

Hope everyone else is well. It's so nice to have broadband and phone working again, I felt bereft without it!

Emsyboo · 17/12/2012 14:41

Zoey I have been having BH alot and pains called midwife and they said there is nothing they can do about it but keep an eye to make sure doesn't progress.
Still catching up but if you are worried (dont know your details) give them a ring and get it noted they may want to bring you in to check it is only BH x

pinkpeony4 · 17/12/2012 14:43

Em sorry we cross posted. You poor thing that sounds terrible. Glad things are getting better with dh but not good about the bleeding. Have you got a full preavia? One of my friends had it and was on complete bedrest for 10 weeks with two other small Children. She did manage to avoid staying in hospital though and rest at home. Take it very easy Thanks

Emsyboo · 17/12/2012 14:53

Hi Pinkpeony
This thread moves Fast!
Yes complete previa got re scanned last week and hasn't moved a mm its left lateral so they don't think it will move :( trying to stay positive but this weekend been very fed up!
Still catching up but must be nice to have connectivity again with phone and bradband dunno how our mums coped without internet!

I have been packing as things arrive (home deliveries lol) although never even thought to put batteries in I will have a mardi toddler on Christmas day - whoops!

TribbleWithoutaCause · 17/12/2012 15:15

So excited, had the first bits of our reusable nappies delivered for ds2. DS1's nappies look a tad scruffy. So I decided to treat bump to some new ones.

How is everyone else? Smile

OodKingWenceslas · 17/12/2012 17:17

Not that you're a bit addicted is it trib Wink

TribbleWithoutaCause · 17/12/2012 18:51

No Ood not at all , its all about the enviroment here Grin.

backwardpossom · 17/12/2012 19:13

I bought this baby some new cloth too. Lime green outers, love it! Xmas Grin

lannyshrops · 17/12/2012 19:45

Evening all!

lexi what horrid news re conversion, you poor, poor thing Sad well done on trying to remain positive though, big hugs xxx

How are you zoey? Thinking about you xxx

Oh em how stressful a time for you on both fronts, look after yourself sweetie xxx

I am so tired ladies, I'm 28+3 today. For the last week or so, EVERYONE in work has been commenting on how tired I look, it does get a bit much to be honest after a while, it's like, I know I look like pooh, but constantly mentioning it really doesnot help! I have about 3 hours a day when I feel human, the rest of the time I feel like I'm firing at about 50% capacity, which is so so so hard! On the plus side, 25 working days until maternity leave, have Christmas and new year to get through first though! (Trying not to get jealous about all of you with leave over Christmas!)

Love to all xxx

zoeymlucas · 17/12/2012 20:50

Well I was uncomfortable and rang maternity unit and they demanded I come straight in, got out of lift and literally walked into my consultant- his comment being if I had phoned and come in I must be bad, lol! Plus he was on route to theatre but I wasn't to go without seeing him!
They could feel tightenings and baby was very naughty so they had to hold monitor on as he didn't approve of anything in his space and was kicking like crazy my whole belly was going! My cervix is long and closed still but has started to funnel so not all good but could be a lot worse. Not helped his head is straight on cervix and he now weighs about 2lb 9oz (I got another scan) so the is putting stitch under strain! They have let me home on bed rest so DH has banished my upstairs and even ordered dominos and bought it up to bed for me - complete with new mini pancakes :)
Got another appointment in 2 weeks and consultant said if I make I will I have decided we will look at options, not sure I like the sound of that though!
Hope everyone else has had better days and babies are behaving!!!

Sorry to hear your having a hard time Em and fx crossed you Xmas Michael happens or at least you get xmas at home x

zoeymlucas · 17/12/2012 20:50

Miracle not Michael

backwardpossom · 17/12/2012 21:33

Fingers crossed for two weeks, zoey x

EthelredOnAGoodDay · 17/12/2012 21:39

Hi

That sounds like fairly good news zoey will be doing lots of positive thinking for you. Same for you emsy.

Lexi I would be SO hacked off if I was you. That is rubbish. Are there any of the other builders who quoted before, who can give you a requote?

Ok day here, tried to sort out the post birthday mess and got through most of it. Just need to finish sorting through DDs little bits of toys that are scattered across the front room. Will have to wait now though as going to bed soon. Had a wander to post office with pushchair to send some cards and Christmas parcels and it was nice to be out in the fresh air. DD was pretty good all day until it was almost time to go for a bath, when she pulled her pants down and did a massive wee on the lounge carpet. Confused And as I was asking her what she was doing she almost laughed in my face. Boy was I mad. Angry
So we had serious words. Little devil. She can be so lovely most of the time and then she goes and does something like that!!!!
Anyway, back to work tomorrow for three last days before Christmas and then DH is home, so hopefully the week will fly by without further incidents!!!

Anyway, off to bed now, am knackered and my back is killing me.

Take care all. X

mandasand · 17/12/2012 23:15

Hello everyone! Sorry I've not been around for a while. I've been getting on okay, but just finding it hard to keep all the balls juggling. Work is not really happening very well. I have 4-6 good hours of work in the day, which is less than half of what I usually work - so, enough to keep things ticking over but that's far from being enough to deliver on what I'm committed to so I feel very behind and pretty hopeless. Struggling even with basic deadlines nevermind my wish list of things I'd love to get done before the babies come. If they stay in till term (for twins) I've got another EIGHT weeks, four of which I'm notionally on holiday! Proofs of my next book has just arrived to add to the pressure and I'll take the fist week of Jan as 'holiday' to work on those (the book isn't related to my present job).

Once I hit 28 weeks last Tuesday I've been feeling hungrier, heavier and the babies are making bigger, bolder movements. I get a lot of thuds against internal organs now. And my nipples are kind of growing and darkening, I guess, ready for feeding! Yikes, all a bit real! I've been sleeping okay the last few nights and last night I woke only twice, at 3am and 6am! Felt utterly luxurious to have some good blocks of sleep.

My side of the family came down for pseudo-xmas at the weekend (they were fascinated with my huge bump-movements!) and we have MiL this weekend. Got tearful after they left, realising that prob next time I will see Mum I'll be a Mum myself. DH and I really looking forward to having actual xmas to ourselves - first time ever and probably the last! Not at all happy that Ocado require £9.99 for delivery and minimum £90 order though - we simply can't get through that much food ourselves!

Hospital have totally f*cked up my next appt. I was given one date in person at 28-week appt but got a letter with a different date a week later. Phoned up today and they can't even figure out whether all my appts that day (growth scan and two consultant appts) have been shifted or not. Not entirely happy as I'm supposed to be having four-weekly growth scans for a reason, and at the last one they couldn't get measurements on twin 2, so that baby won't have been measured for 9 weeks. Anyway, I'll keep phoning and making a nuisance of self till I get some sense!

Tramp hybrid sounds great for DH's needs in London and they are usually great for towpaths and light enough to get up a bit of speed on roads too. Great present!

Lanny sorry to hear you had pain and then nuisance MW but glad you have got things under control with rest.

Tea hurray for being all moved in!

Sarah I understand where you're coming from re impatience re DS. These things came easily to me too (I was both bright and academically minded) and I struggle to understand people who aren't built the same way (not my best feature!)

Lexi woohoo on new car but really shit about the quotation price hike. Sounds like the decision has been taken out of your hands. Any progress / movement / changes today or is it now definitely postponed till further notice?

Em sorry to hear about sciatic pain. One of the ladies on the twins thread has just recommended a sort of small spikey ball which is helping her. She kind of rolls around on it, I think. Her pain is in a buttock so she must do it sitting. If you don't know what I mean I can dig out the link.

Emsy sorry to hear about your bleeds - how worrying.

Sheldon hope you're feeling a bit more philosophical about work. And is the Lactulose and/or Gaviscon working yet? Poor chuck.

Ethel oh dear, oh dear re DD weeing on carpet. What on earth do you say to that?!

Zoey so pleased you are home but please rest!

V. nice dress for wedding, Pink! Thanks for sharing your friend's experience with twins. We have been told that if we don't get a private room at the hospital then just to ask as they often reserve them for multiple births, and it's usually find for the DH to stay over especially if he looks like he might be useful! That festive drinks party sounds fab btw!

Thanks all for advice on elective CS!

DH is getting busy with the hot water bottle (it's become a little ritual to keep my feet warm at night - too sweet!) so better go so we can watch some bed-telly on the laptop (The Hour and The Killing are our current series - anyone else watching them?)

theTramp · 17/12/2012 23:33

Work is not really happening very well. I have 4-6 good hours of work in the day, which is less than half of what I usually work - so, enough to keep things ticking over but that's far from being enough to deliver on what I'm committed to so I feel very behind and pretty hopeless. Struggling even with basic deadlines nevermind my wish list of things I'd love to get done THIS! Seriously you could be speaking for me Manda. I have never ever been so frustrated or stressed with myself. Well I say stressed, I don't think I have the energy for stress. More of a mild depression that I simply cannot get things done. I can try to, it just doesn't happen. And you have twins, which must mean you are struggling even more. All I can say is I empathise and also wonder how you are managing.

Zoey - stay rested.

As per face book, fingers firmly crossed that all is well for our other hospital visitor.

Ems - thinking of you, that is horridly stressful for you. All I can say is, do what is right for you because no-one else can do that for you and only you know what you need. Also hope the bleeding stops soon, must be worrying.

I am sneezing like billyo AGAIN. I am so sick of having a constant bloomin' cold. Seriously I am at my witts end. How can I still be sneezing?! I have managed to work my way through an entire toilet roll of tissues today. My nose would outshine Rudolfs. Even my cuddle whore cat won't sit on me today because my sneezing is so bad. And MrM is passing judgement. Pregnancy is no fun at all. And any woman who claims it is either needs her head examining or should learn that no-one likes a show off.

Emsyboo · 18/12/2012 02:31

Hi thanks all for your support

Zoey you poor thing how worrying! They keep saying to me we need to get to 'x' week but thankfully when we reach the milestone it moves again scary though. Make sure you rest up though and take it easy great that DH is looking after you!

I have had allergies this pregnancy was fine with last but now asthmatic and sniffly very allergic to dust came home this week to my DHs housework and been sneezing and coughing again! May be you have something similar so not just a cold Sad I know bringing in the dusty Xmas tree made me a lot worse hope you feel better anyway I was given a nasal spray and inhaler to avoid antihistamines x

OodKingWenceslas · 18/12/2012 06:49

manda just completely stock up the store cupboard for use over the next few weeks months to make the order up. We online shop every 5-6 weeks to order tins etc then do basics from the market.

zoey hope things are calmer today & your dh is looking after you.

theTramp · 18/12/2012 07:15

Ems - no allergies that I'm aware of. Oblasts and lemsip help which suggests cold. Either way, total pain.

Have seen FB posts & am saying a little prayer & keeping fingers crossed.

OctoberCarrot · 18/12/2012 07:48

Morning Marchers,

Sounds like we are all getting a little bigger and a lot more uncomfortable. I had a dreadful sleep last night I don't know why. So feeling tired this morning. Agree with the need to go to bed nice and early etc. we have a wedding on Sat. Staying in hotel. I plan to retire early enough and having breakfast in bed even if it is unsociable.

Christening went really well. Had a lovely day. DS loves having his Ozzie cousins around. We are off to Ils grandchildren day out today and then tomorrow is brining all of us to the panto. Can't wait!

Finalising Christmas presents. DHs worse trait has rubbed off on me and now I do stuff last minute and get stressed and annoyed and promise every year I won't do it. Grrrrr!

lexi. That is so frustrating about builder. Sounds like you might be beat to get new prices in new year as I wonder if you get him to a lower price a contingency might arise in the middle of the build.

manda. Must be so fascinating with twins. I imagine at this stage it is getting harder and harder for you.

Ok better go. Need to go and buy another 20 Christmas cards and get them written before we head off on our adventure!

Happy Tuesday. Only 7 more sleeps!

Oc xxx

mandasand · 18/12/2012 08:22

Tramp, yes and yes. I wouldn't wish this feeling of frustration on anyone, but it's good to know we're not alone - that would sink me into a depression I think! I don't think I am having a particularly difficult twin pregnancy, tbh. I'm become much bigger, more quickly, but my ailments are, if anything, getting better not worse as time passes. But the tiredness ? that's something else. Body is Busy with a capital 'b'! I don't know about you but there's a certain level of acceptance or inevitability about it - like you say there's just not the energy for stress!

I know that things are changing and that I cannot go at my usual pace. Once I have got current, pressing deadline out of the way I think I'm going to have to have a stocktake and see what things are possible and what are not. It will pain me! The important thing is that I reach my mid-term goal (which is, over the next two years, making myself appear employable by four different types of academic department ? and then getting another job) and not everything on my to do list is really essential for that.

Have a lovely day, one and all xx

LexiandBeanette · 18/12/2012 10:30

zoey I hope you are resting! And Ems hope you can avoid the bed rest
Sorry for not name checking more, on iPad, but Tramp & Manda!u share your tired pains. Trying to explain to DH, feels like I am walking through fog! Making work difficult as my boss keeps sending me more and more to do before I go, so I feel like I am ramping up, not winding down!
However am on hols today to catch up with an old friend who is visiting the area, also having bloods done and need to find a present for DH!

Re: builder. We went through all our finances and came up with a maximum we can pay, emailed builder late Sun to say that if he could meet us at this price we'd go ahead but that was all we had, and we'd call him to discuss. Could not get hold of him at all yesterday, just getting voicemail Xmas Angry. Frustrating as if he can't do it I wish he'd just say! It's all ringing alarm bells and it looks like we will call the whole thing off and get another round of quotes to have the work done in April when Beanette is here. I am very sad about it, not least because it means we can't do any nursery preparation and the baby will be living out of boxes for the first three months which feels quite stressful, but we have lost all faith in the builder and I am terrified he'd go AWOL just before due date leaving us with a hole in the loft!

Hope everyone is having a better day, less aches and pains and worries.

Sheldonella · 18/12/2012 11:14

Morning all, how is everyone today. I'm having nesting panic! I have the sudden urge to get everything fully prepared. I know I'm bonkers :)
Also having a nappy wobble. I have a whole lot of terry squares which I've mastered folding and was quite happy with. Then I read all about these fancy BumGenius nappies and I'm starting to think I should have bought them. I really want reusables but I didn't do my research properly and now I'm confused Confused
lexi, tramp and manda I have the foggy tiredness too. Some days I feel I can't get anything done and it is so frustrating. I've tried resting more but it has no effect. I guess this is how it is in the third trimester.
lexi I am so frustrated for you, how annoying. I hope you can find someone more reasonable and reliable. How did you find them in the first place? I can understand why you are sad about not having the nursery ready but the baby won't notice. Brew for you - hope it all gets sorted out.
manda The lactulose did work thanks :) It took a couple of days and I haven't had any since but will be using it if the problem returns. Glad you had a nice time with your family.
zoey Sorry to hear what you are going through but I'm going to echo everyone else and say please rest! Wishing you a relaxing run up to xmas and a baby that stays put :)
Ethel Poor you with the weeing incident! I hadn't thought that far ahead to where my DD is likely to do things like that! I hope you have a calmer day today.
Tribble Which nappies did you get? Do you have recommendations?
Emsy Sorry to hear you are having a tough time. I hope you can get some rest too.
Have a great day everyone!
