Morning everyone :) I hope you are all having a lovely festive weekend. I'm having a relaxing one before all the family visits next week. We finally have our tree up although we haven't spent much time in the same room as it as our central heating isn't working properly. Our upstairs radiators are working but not downstairs. DH spent time trying to sort it out yesterday to no avail. Looks like we will need to get a professional in.

I'm 28 weeks since yesterday and pretty sure I'm having braxton hicks now. I feel a weird churny feeling and my bump feels like it has a hard ball in it. Does this sound likely? They don't hurt at all, just feel strange. It appended quite a few times yesterday.

ethel glad GTT was ok. Did your DD enjoy her party?

Oh Em how scary. I'm really glad all is ok. Will remember that about the dopplers. Glad the wheat pack helped. My mum swears by those.

Lauren I love the name, very pretty. Ohh 4D scan -exciting! I was told girl at my 4D scan and NHS scan. I'm sure it is rare they get it wrong. It would be strange though, my DD is a little person to me now.

lanny yay for doing the room. What colour is it?

zoey I don't know how you keep going, it is amazing! Hope the iron kicks in quickly. Im starting to notice my bump getting in the way of things now. I had to point out DH had parked to close to another car the other day and I couldn't squeeze through the door :)

tea yay for new house! How lovely of your DH :)

Morning all!
Yeah for broadband tea and how cute does you OH sound! Who won the race though!

No heating downstairs sounds a bit grim sheldon Sad sounds like an excuse to stay in a nice warm bed to me Grin

The nursery is cream with owl wallpaper from B&Q on one wall and the border on the other 3. Husband We are hoping to get the woodwork done over the next week and are off to get a wardrobe today. Once we have all that we can get all the things donated by the fabulous SIL from the in-laws and get a bit more sorted! Have to get it here by next weekend anyway as is presently all over the in laws spare room so lovely SIL and tribe will have no where to sleep!
Once all finished will post pictures!

Off the Blists hill Victorian museum today for their Victorian Christmas. We have been for the last few years and meet some very dear friends and their children there, it's fast becoming a new tradition. I can't believe that next year we will have a little one of our own to take!

Happy Sunday all xxx

theTramp · 16/12/2012 09:46

Congrats on house move and broadband sounds fab!

(Keeps quiet about fact that sees no issue in racing cat up the stairs and chatting to cat about it..)

EthelredOnAGoodDay · 16/12/2012 09:51

Hi all, v quick note, will write more later.
Em glad all ok, must have been v stressful!
All ok here, party was totally manic but good and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. Just about to. Get in shower and prepare for round two today (family old people comingGrin)
Will def catch up properly and write more later.

TeaOperated · 16/12/2012 10:01

Oh, there's nothing wrong with it Tramp, just makes me smile. Cat won the race, and is in heaven - after being in a city centre tenement he's loving having stairs, and all the birds he can see in the garden.

StormyBrid · 16/12/2012 10:10

Hello, ladies!

Am back from Munich, but have been putting off catching up on here because there are seventeen more pages of posts for me to get through. Currently on the fourth. This may take some time. Better read fast, because in a couple of hours it'll be time to crack on with more packing.

Germany is a dangerous place to be pregnant. That country seriously understands how to do cake. I don't dare step on the scales. But on the plus side, now getting plenty of exercise with the packing. So far have cleared the surface layer of decorative crap and useful odds and ends, and am halfway through the book layer. Once that's done, it's clothes, kitchen, furniture. Thank God we're only moving two doors away, and are getting new keys tomorrow but giving old ones back on Friday, so we can take our time! This is going to confuse the hell out of the cats though...

theTramp · 16/12/2012 11:01

Cake sounds good stormy, glad you had a fun time and good luck with the packing.

TeaOp - I am always chasing one of my cats up the stairs and MrM is always laughing at me. Said cat is presently hiding in the tinsel - its a look :)

JoJoBella84 · 16/12/2012 11:16

Ooooh I'm 31 weeks today :D crikey, that's me into the single figure weekly countdown then buries head in sand
I've had a busy week which is due to get busier but the countdown to Christmas is well and truly here and I find myself wondering how I'm going to manage to get this ever growing pile of gifts to the PiL's on the train without help!
Especially as I'm having very little luck with public transport at the moment! It took me 4.5 hours to get back to York from Hull last night! Crawled through the door at 10pm exhausted!!

Hope all bumps are growing nicely and aren't causing too much grief!

LaurenCaddy · 16/12/2012 14:59

Afternoon Ladies!

Oooo i love Bliss Hill lanny, haven't been in a while since we moved down to ol Somerset, but i adore a bit of Victorian History. Iron Bridge and The Black Country Museum also do alot at Chrimbo. Wish i could go!

Sheldon i hope you get your radiators fixed. I'm curled up on the sofa, still in pjs with a big blanket around me!

Tea i talk to my mums cat like a baby :/ And we chase each other. Which ends up in a game of tig usually.

And my ratties. Although it was a sad day yesterday, they're getting old now, and Rufus died in his sleep :(
Very jealous of my parents as well, they went and saw the Coca Cola truck yesterday in Brum! It's not coming down our parts this year :(

sundaesundae · 16/12/2012 15:10

Sorry about rufus :(

We have two lovely boy cats and they are our babies, one has bloody poo at the moment so vet with a stool sample this weel :(

Canceled my whole weekend due to just being rubbish, have no energy, can't even manage simple stuff, so hibernating. Hubby is currently moving the sky box into our room so we can watch telly in bed, first time in 5 years we have been able to do that!

Yay for moving, broadband, good weekends and single figures!!

Boo to illness, tiredness, sadness and general crapness, hugs to all!

LexiandBeanette · 16/12/2012 18:34

Aww Lauren sorry to hear about your rattie! I had rats as a student, such sweet pets. Now we have two British Shorthairs, one of them definitely gets the baby voice, one of them looks at me with disdain if I try it Xmas Wink.

Busy weekend here - got our tree up with some issues, DH went to buy one and got one that was miles too big! It completely dwarfs our living room and we had to rearrange everything to get it in - however the place looks super festive now. Also cleared the loft so spare room, garage and understairs are completely crammed. Tomorrow they check the supporting beams in our living room and bedrooms to confirm it's safe to go ahead (previous owners had the house knocked through but there is no documentation) which means plaster and paint mess on both floors, but it will have to stay that way for Christmas. Am hoping and praying it is OK. Have been promised we won't have an open cold attic for Christmas so will just have to put up with the rest of the mess and chaos. I find this really stressful as I hate clutter and mess, but have to keep telling myself it is for the best!

Also we went on the tour of the maternity unit at the hospital; was impressed as they showed us everything and both the midwife lead and consultant lead birthing rooms were really nice. They have 3 pools there too so am trying to decide if I'd use one if they were available. The wards however were crowded, old fashioned and noisy so am keeping everything crossed I have a straightforward birth and can just go straight home! Good to know what to expect and what we can plan for though.

OodKingWenceslas · 16/12/2012 19:51

lexi sometimes you can pay for a single room. I will if they don't give me one. I was given preference last time though due to the AND/PND I didn't cope with being on a ward.

zoeymlucas · 16/12/2012 20:10

Here's hoping you get the straight forward birth Lexi hospitals are no gun and wards are awful and there is NO chance of sleep! I am lucky if you can call it that that after what happened I have a laminated piece of paper that says I am to get a private room from the hospital chief exec and can have visitors 24 hours with me!

LaurenCaddy · 16/12/2012 20:20

Lexi fingers crossed for you! I'd love a water birth, i think my hospital only has one :( so it'll be a decision on the day.

How do you go about getting a tour of your maternity unit? I'm having NCT Antenatal classes at Weston Hospital, but my hospital for birth is Taunton. Is it something i have to speak to my midwife about?

Thanks for your kind words on Rufus. He really was an awesome rat. As silly as that sounds. He was my baby a while before i found out about this baby!

EthelredOnAGoodDay · 16/12/2012 20:30

No hospital tours here, to reduce risk of infection. Also wards not too busy here either, had two nights in after DD and on a 6 bed ward, only had someone in with me briefly on the day I was discharged. So depends from place to place I think!

All good here, am knackered, but ok. Just catching up on here and a bit of tv before going to bed; DH has to be up at 2pm to get to airport for flight out to Jeddah.

DDs weekend of celebrations is over. It's been good although am knackered. Front room looks like an explosion of toys and children's clothes has taken place but apart from that the house is still standing! Grin plus we had a tree, hedging and roses delivered and planted up in our front garden yesterday, so everything is taking shape finally.
Hope all ok, will have a proper catch up this week. X

LexiandBeanette · 16/12/2012 21:20

Lauren I think pets become part of the family, not silly at all!
My midwife told me about the hospital tours & I booked direct with the maternity reception. Here they do 3 a week, max 10 couples a time. It was really good & there were a lot of questions asked about options, visiting, what to bring, pain relief. They even covered where to park. DH said as birth partner he found it really reassuring just to be informed about these kinds of things.

Tearing my hair out - literally at the 11th hour our builder has told us the architects amendments are adding a third onto his quote. Which means we can't afford the work with our savings and we can't borrow more due to DH's precarious income as we can't afford it. Builder's "can't you just bung it on a credit card" not an option! So they are not starting tomorrow, DH is furious, house is chaos, and we are back to square 1. So upset I am actually weirdly calm!!

LexiandBeanette · 16/12/2012 21:40

Ps Ethel the garden sounds lovely!

StealthToddler · 16/12/2012 22:34

lanny blists hill brings back memories! Used to go there every year when I stayed with my granny in the summer hols. Loved it!

Em2010 · 16/12/2012 22:44

lexi really sorry. That sounds shit. Big hugs.

Sorry, haven't had a chance to catch up! Will try and post properly tomorrow morning.

EthelredOnAGoodDay · 17/12/2012 02:36

Lexi that is really shit. Any reason why?! Or just because they can.

DH just gone off in taxi. Sad
Off back to sleep now .

zoeymlucas · 17/12/2012 07:30

Lexi are you certain it's a case of costs have actually gone up due to changes or builder is busy so can afford to charge more and lose some work here and there? I would get someone else in ASAP

Well it's Monday again and 4 days at work till Xmas break I can't wait - my Xmas involves pjs and a lot of food :) so excited about the boys faces as have gone a little crazy this year :) mum has also spoilt them and given them some bits now so my niece and nephew don't see as my brothers kids have 2 other sets of grandparents etc mine just have her and my dad! So DS1 got an expensive PS3 game yesterday and DS2 got some saucepans and a cooker- he loves cooking and is already making mummy pasta :)

Am 28 weeks on Wednesday which is when DS1 arrived so started to feel less stressed as I know how babies are born at that time and even though I know every baby is different this one is a little bruiser!

Oooh think I had BH last night as belly kept tightening and going hard, it had no pattern and didn't hurt but felt odd :)

pinkpeony4 · 17/12/2012 08:01

Yippee internet is back. Will catch up later. Hope everyone is well Smile

theTramp · 17/12/2012 09:17

Lexi - I would be going spare. Are there any other builders you can bring in? A third due to changes is a lot and last minute mentioning a is completely unacceptable. I'd be finding a few online review forums to express my honest review of their services as well. So sorry that they've let you down once again.

sundaesundae · 17/12/2012 09:47

Oh Lexi, how awful of them. Any option to draw down from your mortgage, not a good option, but could get you through. Though tbh I would be sacking everyone, crying in a heap and putting my house back together as I would not trust them now unless they could explain every additional cost.

28 weeks Z, that is excellent! Not long and we will all be over 30 weeks and we can all relax a lot (I believe!).

Yay for internet pink!

On annual leave today, not going to fall over today and ruin my weekend (had to cancel a haircut, work christmas do and family christmas do we were supposed to be hosting and spent most of the weekend lying down, hubby dragged me to town yesterday and I nearly HoBoed. ) but I am getting my hair cut, unfortunately no idea what I want!

All presents now purchased, one still to collect, hubby has wrapped everything like a good boy, he does a beautiful job! Just got to wrap all the stuff I have got for him... argh!

4 days left till christmas, I love not working christmas any more, though NHS working christmas was always fun and full of cammaraderie.

zoeymlucas · 17/12/2012 11:26

HMMMM not liking today - think I had BH last night and was awake alot - but am really uncomfatable today and having a lot of pains and pressure its got to the point that its making me feel a bit sick from it all plus DH is no answering texts which is not helping at all and stresssing me more - this is normal right??????
