Has anyone been told the wrong gender at a scan and it been a surprise at birth? I would be very happy with either gender but I'm so used to the idea of a girl that I think I would feel very odd if she turned out to be a boy now.

zoeymlucas · 14/12/2012 12:54

I was saying this only yesterday Sheldonella that as much as I would of loved a girl I am used to baby being a boy and would be a little upset if it come out and was a girl as I have bonded with him and named him and got everything ready for our little man, he would def throw me off to get a girl :)

Sorry havent been on for a bit had girls night out Wednesda and then works night our last night and didnt get to bed till 1.00am and then had to be at work at 8.00 - I am actually dying of tiredness about now and boss is ordering everyone pizza as we are ALL flaggin! zoeymlucas · 14/12/2012 13:44

AHhhhh my midwife stresses me out SO much - texted her as have awaful pain under right boob in top of bump and she said she got my blood results yesterday and had meant to text me and needs to get me checked out and BP done - have I had any headaches etc - I replied I have had a headache for last 4 days but havent been sleeping so its prob due to that, she said I need to ring the local birthing unit and get checked as she isnt working today! Love the fact I have to text her a problem before she remembers me - I think my boob/ bump pain is just wind or a muscle!

OodKingWenceslas · 14/12/2012 14:10

Get checked out anyway zoey

EthelredOnAGoodDay · 14/12/2012 16:14

Hi all

Quick post. Had GTT and all was well. was actually quite nice to sit suietly for a couple of hours! Anyway, back to the aprty prep, will write more later!

GummiberryJuice · 14/12/2012 17:36

I actually lost you all, will read and catch up

TribbleWithoutaCause · 14/12/2012 18:33

Sheldon I'm a little worried about that as well, I do think it is a boy. But wouldn't be the end of the world if it turned out to be a girl. It's happened to two people I know of lately.

theTramp · 14/12/2012 18:33

Hurrah for scan saying baby is fine and you just have a big bump.

Zoey - get to a DR. No arguments, go. And yes your MW sounds crap, request another one. Why not?

Pleased to hear all was a ok with GTD check and that you found it relaxing in the end.

I need to go and cook now. I really don't want to. I am in that weird hungry but also feel nauseous whole time stage again. I prefer just hungry or not hungry. Also, I really really want another Chelsea bun. This morning adn yesterday it was cinamon and raisin bagle. Today chelsea buns. I feel I have a cinamon and raison and bread combined thing going on. Weird.

backwardpossom · 14/12/2012 18:36

How are you doing zoey?

oct how lovely!

Weekend yay!

zoeymlucas · 14/12/2012 21:46

I am fine backward birthing unit couldnt fit me in till tomorrow and they couldn't get hold of MW ! Am currently hiding from DH who is having a minor meltdown as my boobs are leaking milk ALOT! I have tried explaining this is normal and happens but he is convinced its my body getting ready for labour now and I could go into labour any min- I think he needs to read Dr Google for once, lol!!!!
Thank goodness it's the weekend - am planning on not doing a lot at all and getting in some nap time Xmas Grin
tramp get the purple warburtons I think fruit loaf it's raisin and cinnamon and in my a opinion AMAZING!! I love it and even better no one in my house likes it so it's all mine :)

theTramp · 14/12/2012 22:35

Ohh, I like the sound of that. I did also buy some malt loaf. So presently I am flitting between cinamon & raisin bagels, chelsea buns, mince pies (well it is christmas) and malt-loaf. Do you think maybe I just need a bumper pack of sundried raisins?

Oh dear your OH sounds like he is having a stressed Eric moment. Glad you are OK and much leekage presumably means you need to turn the heating up and sit around the house in your bikini.. :)

Em2010 · 15/12/2012 10:44

Morning All,

tramp snap! I am also back in the feeling hungry/sick club. Hoping its just caused by a growth spurt and will pass again soon.

zoey hope everything is ok. Hopefully your mw didn't call you because she wasn't too worried and not because she's crap! Hopefully!

lexi glad scan went well. ethel glad to hear gtt over and all fine.

Hello to everyone else, so sorry I can't name check properly as I'm on my phone. Had an interesting day yesterday. Started the morning with a huge fight with a hungover dh and then after breakfast etc realised a) baby wasn't moving half as much as normal b) bump pains that mw was concerned about were back. Anyway, called the hospital and went in for some monitoring. Was feeling fairly calm, mw had a feel of bump and dismissed notion of serious infection or bleeding (relief) then she strapped me on to the monitor to trace the heartbeat and NOTHING! She was trying all over the place and not picking up a sausage. This must have gone on for all of a minute and then I started to properly panic. She disappeared behind the curtain and I was left with a lovely student doctor who reassured me it was fine. Anyway after what felt like a lifetime mw comes back with a little hand held Doppler and found the heartbeat instantly. I could have kissed her! Managed to get a good trace in the end but turns out babies are still quite small for the big trace monitors at 28 weeks so hence the problem finding the heartbeat. Wish she'd tried the Doppler first though!

Anyway planning a nice calm day here today. Avoiding all the Christmas rush and getting as much of my shopping done online as possible!

Oooh can also report wheat pack thing has really helped my achey hip, sciatic problem!

OodKingWenceslas · 15/12/2012 11:21

Phew em

tramp we have a huge tea loaf here that my mum had just brought round!

theTramp · 15/12/2012 11:24

Ood - ohh that sounds yum.

Hurrah for heartbeats & reassurance. Boo to fights with hungover peeps. BTW - you k ow you don't need to fight with someone when they're hungover right. Just hide the drugs, cook up something only a so we person could manage to eat for breakfast. Open the curtains early and play loud music ;)

pinkpeony4 · 15/12/2012 13:07

Em how scary for you. V glad all is ok though.

No phone or Internet here which is rubbish. Could be min. 3 working days to be repaired so I'm guessing it could be like this until the New Year?! Won't be able to catch up because I find it really hard on MN on my phone.

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend

Emus · 15/12/2012 13:32

Ahem, haven't been on for a who,e and two much to catch up on now.

Em that sounds really scary but really pleased everything is ok!

Zoey hope the MW appointment goes ok today. I am a but worried about my boobs because they haven't grown at all (the nipples have changed but that's it). Am wondering if they aren't going to work (had a breast reduction when I was 20).

Am struggling to get motivated today. Have zero energy and still haven't put my Christmas tree up which is really unusual for me because I totally love this time of year and would normally be completely organised by this time.

Will be you to Mamas and Papas later to check out some Nursery furniture. Hopefully yet store will be big enough to have some furniture on display. Still haven't bought anything for LO.

Emus · 15/12/2012 13:34

Also, slightly concerned that our baby isn't reacting to music or sound yet (27 weeks) and I haven't felt hiccups at all (well not that I'm aware of). Nothing with a rhythm.

I do listen to a lot of music though (loudly).

LaurenCaddy · 15/12/2012 13:50

Hi all,

Hope all is well and everyone's feeling better than before :)

Trying to read and catch up whilst taking it in.

emus I'm 27 weeks tomorrow, and my littlun doesn't react to music or loud noises in general. She's so laid back it's untrue. Yet as soon as Daddy starts talking to her that's it there's no stopping her. Right little Daddy's girl. I'm not sure what baby hiccups even feel like!

Sheldon & Zoey, i too keep having the same worried feeling. I've been told she is a she, yet i'm dreading getting to my 4D Scan on Tuesday and them telling me actually she is a he. Terrified of it. Pink and cute baby girl things has taken over my life!

So have spent today drawing a reindeer on my growing bump for fun! My OH, (fussy right git he is) has finally put input in on a middle name, after everything i suggested was a no no. So now we have a full name: Isabelle-Seren. Finished all Christmas shopping. I will NOT eat my Nan's chocolates this time. They are wrapped and at my Mums! And now its Top 10 Christmas songs on the tele, and if The Pogues doesn't come on, i'll shout at the tele!

OodKingWenceslas · 15/12/2012 14:49

emus I wouldn't worry about that. Dd2/3 didn't respond to music but neither had hearing problems ( well dd2s came later) dc4 only responds to pressure as in dd3 sitting on my knee. No one else gets a look in so they'll probably recognise her.

Am totally exhausted today. Can't get going, I've napped ( never ever nap even with a newborn) and am totally wiped out. getting a lot of BH too

Em2010 · 15/12/2012 20:38

Lauren Isabelle Seren is very pretty. Still not decided on a mn for our dd. Ds has two!

emus ds didn't respond to music through the whole pregnancy. Then when he was born he didn't respond to anything either! He just used to sleep through everything! His newborn hearing tests came back fine but I was paranoid his hearing was crook so one night I snuck up to his Moses basket and made a loud crash and he woke up! Now he's two I can confirm there's definitely nothing wrong with his hearing and he loves music!

lannyshrops · 15/12/2012 21:27

Gosh It's quiet on here today!
Well, the baby's room is mostly done, just glossing to finish off! So excited by it all! We bought the stuff ages ago so it's lovely to actually see it up!

I am 28 weeks now, it only in the last week or so that movements have really increased and DH felt her kick for the first time just now! He saw her kick last Saturday though. He was all excited, I think he thought he'd never feel her so he's now singing away in the kitchen while doing tHe washing up Smile

What a scary moment em. Glad all was ok though. When they were monitoring me on Friday LO heartbeat keeps having little pauses which worried me a bit. I didn't ask the midwife about it as she was horrid as she seemed too busy, but asked the registrar who said pretty much what you did re the big monitor.

Hops all ok, lots of festive things going on for all I suspect xxx

zoeymlucas · 15/12/2012 22:01

Well saw MW (not mine) and my iron levels were something stupid like 2 so needed iron tablets urgently, she was a bit concerned they were low last time and even though I couldn't go on iron then because of other tablets, my MW hasn't kept an eye ESP when I come off other tablets and could start iron! I was tired and stressed and said that's because she is bloody useless and don't have a clue- oooops! mW said with iron levels like that and BP of 98/62 she isn't sure how I don't feel dizzy and how I get out of bed let alone do anything, luckily DH was there so is now doing everything, lol!! But between us I don't feel that bad just tired but everyone is tired!!!

My little man reacts to light and loud sudden sounds but haven't tried music with him yet, might do that tomorrow as my 10 year old loves things like that! My whole belly is cipurrently having a fit and going mental but it might be to do with the cherry coke and Pringles!!

Have also just discovered that the amazing place I hide Xmas presents is not so amazing as bump is to big to get to them!!!

StealthToddler · 15/12/2012 22:16

tramp the m&s apple and sultana loaf is yummy.... I love all those fruity breads too....

TeaOperated · 16/12/2012 07:55

Hello ladies,
Just quickly stopping by having just caught up. Hope people are feeling better, glad it's not just me having the periodic meltdown (all sound entirely reasonable by the way).

We're all moved in to the new house! Moved on Thursday, broadband is on (yay!) and I think we've done all the unpacking we can do until the new furniture arrives on Tuesday/we've done the decorating. So today will be a painting day. We've got the Christmas tree up so it's feeling like home.

Just heard DH talking to the cat, blethering away in 'talking to small child' voice and suggesting racing him up the stairs, ending with 'you win!' I think someone might be ready to be a Dad...
