Another one who had a meltdown yesterday - had a day off and had some errands to run so after that come home and DH was watching a film so said I was going for a bath to relax and then going for a sleep as am exhausted from not sleeping! He then got up and said he was going shopping and by the way DS was awake so I needed to bring him down - I went bat poo crazy crying and stamping as needed sleep! He went to loo and I threw a plate on the floor in a huff so he got ready to go out and took DS and I went to have a bath. Just gott and dressed and door knocked and it was his bloody sister for a coffee - not happy

Sheldonella · 13/12/2012 14:45

Meltdowns - I love how we are all going through these at the same time. Makes me feel more normal. Brew to everyone that needs one! Glad you got your bath zoey
Boo to the pain Em. I keep waking up with hip pain and then moving and suddenly needing to wee! Wishing you a good night's sleep tonight!
Glad you are settling in flowery We won't forget you :)
Loving the idea of slings and am really excited about using mine - it's a Wilkinet which is like a Baby Bjorn but ties at the bottom instead of having clips. I keep trying it on :)
Feeling a bit emotional - got maternity leave sorted out by lovely HR woman. I only have 24 days left in the office. I feel a bit shaky Confused

lexi I use the baby Bjorn water bsby is about 3 months old and wants to face forward looking out. I think it is too rigid for newborn and prefer the soft sling for a newborn as they can be curled up womb like! Dh however will only use the baby Bjorn as he thinks the soft ones as "girly!"
My baby Bjorn has worn really well, been through washing machine several times and will be used for the fourth time soon! You can get some really good dribble bibs that attach to it for when older baby is facing out which can be washed loads or you do tend to end up with a very dicky/possety carrier!

TribbleWithoutaCause · 13/12/2012 16:18

Lexi I used a moby wrap for when DS was really little, I then moved onto a boba 3G which I can still use with DS in a back carry. He's 30lbs + if thats any help. I'm going to get a new one for DC2.

Ooooo who is in South London? I'd be up for a meet.

Hamnvik · 13/12/2012 19:30

Haven't been on for ages, feeling grumpy and just want to have the baby now!

Sorry to hear a lot of you are struggling and having meltdowns, that's definitely how I'm feeling. I guess its just part of realizing we can't do as much as normal! Have been waiting a week for DH to get the Christmas tree down from the loft, hate relying on other people!

I have bought a Moby wrap, really looking forward to using it and getting my cloth nappies, this makes me a bit of a hippy apparently amongst people round here but I don't care!

Oh and I'm due on St Patrick's day but he will most definitely not be called paddy!

Hope everyone is feeling festive, I'm finally away to decorate my tree!

Sheldonella · 13/12/2012 20:21

Quick question: Does anyone know if it is ok to take both Gaviscon and Lactulose at the same time? Oh yes, I have both problems Blush

EthelredOnAGoodDay · 13/12/2012 21:21

Hi all, just marking place need to catch up on posts. Need to start fasting at 10pm too for GTT tomorrow!
Has been DDs 3rd b'day today so been a bit crazy! Just having a sit down for 5 mins!

ThreeForTea · 13/12/2012 21:28

Xmas Grin at the idea of a baby called 'guiness' or 'leprechan' or 'blacky' for that matter! Would the registrar even let you??

I am in bed already atm, dh has friends over to play Black Ops II (yawn) Earlier he said that if he could improve one thing about me as a wife it would be that i'd be into first person shooter war games Hmm I guess if thats the one thing then we must be generally ok!

Shel i'd wonder how they would affect one another? I think should prob be ok as lactulose is just milk sugar isn't it?

Congrats with the house move flowery hope you get sorted out soon as, but at the same time make sure you take it easy!

lexi hope scan is good tomorrow. Sure gender won't be different, but if it is will you namechange to lexiandbeanard :)

Is anyone else still wearing bra's with padding and underwire or am I just really odd and misguided among pregnant women? I have gone up a couple of sizes so they fit allright, just find that they actually give me quite good support and dont hurt yet or anything.

TribbleWithoutaCause · 13/12/2012 21:30

Ham I had that as well, what nappies are you getting?

StealthToddler · 13/12/2012 21:33

Is st pAtricks day the 17th? That's when I am due!

Sheldonella · 13/12/2012 21:36

three I'm still wearing my underwired bras. They are far more comfortable than the non wired ones I bought. I think it's fine as long as they aren't rely tight.

ham I'm a hippy too apparently because of my cloth nappies :) mine are the old fashioned towel type.

ethel happy birthday to your DD!

OP posts:
LexiandBeanette · 13/12/2012 21:49

Hugs and hobnobs to all having meltdowns! And three am ROTFL at Beanard!! Baby is currently known as 'giant bean' after yesterday!
Off to bed as very weary, hope all are well. Thanks for Baby Björn advice, it sounds like we were lucky to get it! Björn means bear I think, sweet huh?

Sheldonella · 13/12/2012 21:53

Good luck with the scan lexi

OP posts:
Em2010 · 13/12/2012 21:59

sheldon I've no medical expertise but I wouldn't think you'd be the first pregnant woman to combine lactulose and Gaviscon. I can't imagine it would do any harm. Sorry to hear you're suffering!

ethel happy birthday to your dd! Hope she's had a great day. Good luck for your gtt test tomorrow.

three I wore underwired nearly all the way through my first pregnancy, I've discovered hot milk bras this time! Anyway I think it's fine as long as you're comfy!

Also had my mini meltdown after I last posted as I rang the doctors surgery to get an appointment re the pain. I said I could do any day, time or doctor and there was NOTHING before Christmas! I am away for a week after and then seeing the midwife so no hope of any help over the Christmas holidays Sad On the bright side though I came home from a nice afternoon tea to find my lovely mum had left a heatable wheat pack thing on my front door step to help my pain. Was so touched! Sometimes it just helps to know someone cares!

EthelredOnAGoodDay · 13/12/2012 22:10

Good luck with the scan tomorrow Lexi, I wouldn't worry even if they say you are having a giant as they are notoriously innaccurate. It's an inexact science I think; I never measured anything other than exactly in line with dates and DD was a whopper! Grin
DDs had a great day, she moved into the pre-school room at nursery and settled straight in. Made herself known to her new classmates by stripping off completely this afternoon! Ha ha ha!
pink we are having a party with about 20 kids on sat, plus some friends and family and then other family coming in Sunday. So an action packed weekend. Then DH flies off to Saudi again on Monday morning til Thursday.
Still feeling ok, if a bit creaky.
I'm not a sling user, I bought a huggababy one for DD but never really used it and to be honest I'm not that fussed really. Don't know why? Just more of a pushchair person?
Anyway, just a quick post as my battery is almost dead. Will catch up more tomorrow when I've had my GTT. x

EthelredOnAGoodDay · 13/12/2012 22:11

**arrghh, not 20 kids, more like 10!

theTramp · 14/12/2012 00:00

Em - try a chiropractor?I think you might find them helpful and it's better than waiting around in pain for Dr.

No meltdowns here. Went to Leeds & back today for a reccee, January seminar location sort out. In usual world this would be a day off; mostly sitting about on trains. I'm exhausted. Hoping this week of taking things easy will mean I can hit ground running on Monday. Sooooo much to do. I've even bailed on a Xmas party I've been invited to tomorrow in order that I can try and get some work done without too much pressure. All in all bah.

On plus side the nipple cream recommended many many threads ago now - awesome on cracked lips!

Flowery - hurrah for move, settling in and housey happiness.

Good luck with scan tomorrow. I bet ya alls fine, wave to baby for us all. And if baby waves back you clearly have a Clark Kent in there. :)

OctoberCarrot · 14/12/2012 07:14

stealth. St Patricks Day is indeed 17th March!

I like the name Patrick - Paddy - but don't think DH will go for it. Haven't thought much about it but Michael is back on top of list. My godfather/uncle was Michael so I would be very happy with it. Seems like we really are traditionalists.

Thanks for info on sling. Looks great. We have baby bjorn too and I think it is a great piece of kit.

Am still in padded bra as well. I find they give me great support.

Sorry to hear about all the meltdowns and sickness. I think it must be a combo of time of year and stage of pregnancy. Bought all my Christmas cards yesterday so going to spend the afternoon writing them.

Sister and her lovely hubby arrive home today and baby Hannah's christening tomorrow. Should be a nice weekend. My DHs only sister offered to mind Ds for me this weekend as he is away. Obviously can't as he is a star guest at christening but have to say it cheered me up absolutely no end as she has never done that before! It really is the small things in life eh?

My new iPhone is here so now have to work out how to have 2 iTunes on one pc so I can transfer info.

Hope everyone has a better day. TGIF!

Oc x

lannyshrops · 14/12/2012 07:43

Hey all,
So sorry I've not been around much, I don't know where the days go?!!

I love the idea of using a sling, never used one but we have both sot fabricy one and rucksacky one donated by SIL so will be giving it a try, I always think babies look so comfy in them and I like the idea of LO being close to me or DH when out and about. That carrier bag is really cool!! I struggle carrying chuldren once they get heavier on my hip due to lumbar back issues, normally end up carrying infront of me. DH has sufered with siatica in the past too. consequently we are both a bit paranoid about spine positioning etc and carrying children on hips is not exactly condusive to spine alignment. I hope our little one isn't a 'carry me' child!!!

New car sounds lovely lexi I've got a little aygo which is very economical although my commute is only 40 miles a day. DH has the Avensis which is lovely! Although an estate, I find it lovely to drive. Buggy won't fit in my minuscule boot, but I'll figure something out, or a car swop will be in order (finding the image of 6"2' DH squeezed into my roller skate car...his commute is only 15 miles though!)

Glad move went well flowery gahh to no Internet though, is broad band not one of life's essentials like erm...water and electricity?! Grin
Our refurb is ongoing......still awaiting kitchen work top as supplier ordered wrong one, for the THIRD time couch delivery next Wednesday and TV cabinet and lamp table on the 20th, so apart from curtains and blinds orangery will be done for Christmas, yeah!!! We are making a start on the nursery this weekend as it is finally cleared out....can't wait event though my decorating will be very limited.

Oh em so sorry you have not been well and you too lauren and anyone else I have missed. I ended up in the assessment unit yesterday as I was having abdominal pain which felt nothing like round ligament pain and was throbbing and shooting even when resting and woke me up in the night. Also very sore when LO was kicking. Dutifully called the unit as told to in my maternity notes and got the most horrid midwife ever (not helpful as I have a "thing" about midwives for various reasons) who kept saying " I can't diagnose you over the phone" and I kept saying " I'm not asking you to, I just want advice" ended up in floods of tears in our secretaries office and then the lead for women's and children's services called by my matron (used to be my boss) and dispatched to "talk" to offending midwife...apparently they are having " issues" with her behaviour. Anyway, baby is fine, I am fine just trying to do too much so I'm off work today under orders to rest. The registrar who saw me said I was the most sensible nurse he'd ever treated, which was a copmpliment as we do tend to self diagnose and treat a bit too much as we don't want to be a "burden"!

It is fine to take gaviscon and lactulose together sheldon

Loving the nipple cream on chapped lips tramp, although not sure I want to know how you discovered that one......Grin

Lots of love xxx

OctoberCarrot · 14/12/2012 08:32

Oh my....... I off crying again.

This time because the most beautiful bouquet has just been delievered saying he made the best decision of his life 3 years ago today. He proposed to me on the beach close to our house. Ah bless!

Been a busy and eventful 3 years but so fab!

ThreeForTea · 14/12/2012 10:12

Ah oct that is lovely :)

Haha tramp I did the opposite and used Nivea soothe & protect lip balm on my nips when I first had dd!

LexiandBeanette · 14/12/2012 11:01

Ahh Oct that is lovely!
Em sorry to hear you are suffering. I have one of those wheat packs and it has been brilliant for my rib pain, wholeheartedly recommend it. Hope you get some relief.
Lanny sorry to hear you had such a bad experience, very glad she has been told off! It only takes one, doesn't it?!

Thanks for all scan wishes. All went fine and Beanette (we didn't see anything to think otherwise!) is measuring exactly normal for her projected growth and actually pretty much average on the charts. Also no fluid. So they can't explain why bump has had this growth spurt as they aren't worried about my weight - but the main thing is that she's fine and they don't want to do any more investigations. As per this pregnancy so far she did not want to be helpful for the scan and wriggled and kicked like mad every time the doppler went near her - also she seems to have inherited my rather long, bony feet! Very, very relieved and hope all continues in this vein Xmas Smile.
Right, got to go and do yet another planning doc.....

Sheldonella · 14/12/2012 11:05

Thanks for the gaviscon/lactulose reassurance everyone. I didn't have the gaviscon last night, but will tonight if I suffer again!
Lexi That is great news, glad all is ok. Did you get confirmation that she is a girl again?
October That is lovely :) I would be crying too.
Sorry to hear about your pains lanny and the horrible midwife. I had an awful doctor when I was in the EPU at 12 weeks who was very rude to me when I thought I was miscarrying. I was sitting sobbing and she had no compassion at all. I wish I had complained. The nurses were lovely. Glad you are ok.

No worries Sheldon! I think DH is still convinced baby will be a boy due to dreams :)
Post should have said 'no extra fluid', not 'no fluid' too -typing too fast Xmas Blush
