Hi all. I've namechanged, I was TiredofZombies. How's everyone getting on? Nothing to report here, still just slightly tender boobs (no bigger yet though).

Foof are you taking folic acid AND pregnacare? I thought pregnacare contained full doses of everything, so you wouldn't need extra folic acid on top? Personally I'd knock it on the head if it's making you sick.

Yvonney · 24/12/2012 06:38

I just started taking Pregnacare and wondered if I take seperate folic acid too? I assumed just the Pregnacare would be fine.
My boobs no bigger but def sore & tender. I constantly feel hungover too.
Stress levels reached sky high last night tho when DH broke our oven door and it now doesn't shut!!! It's Christmas day tomorrow and we have no oven!!! Sad Angry. Trying to get oven man out today otherwise my SIL will need to cook oven stuff at her house. Trying to remain calm.......
Hope everyone has a fab Christmas xxx

BlackberryNettle · 24/12/2012 09:26

The way I understood it (disclaimer: complete newbie at this pregnancy malarky so keen to be told if I'm incorrect) is that pregnacare contains your recommended daily amount of folic acid, vitamin d, iron etc, but that you should supplement that with a healthy diet. Unless risk of neural tube probs in which case you're advised to take more?

I'm terribly excited still but really few symptoms which is making me a touch worried - not even tender boobs - is that too much to wish for?! I'd feel better with a bit of nausea (be careful what you wish for!).

Good luck with the oven Yvonne - sounds like a bit of a nightmare (fingers crossed for you getting it sorted on time). We're about to set of on cross country trip from Suffolk to Sommerset. Hoping its reasonable weather for driving down there now.

Merry Christmas to all.

xxx

GaryBuseysTeeth · 24/12/2012 10:54

Yvonney, it's not perfect but is there something you can shove infront of oven door to keep it closed?
Could you cook most of the dinner on the hob?

I'm taking extra folic acid, vitamin D, B's (all of 'em!) & calcium just because. I think they recommend you take extra vit D now? But I did when I was pg with DS as I'm vampire pale & tend to avoid direct sunlight.
Foof, I take them before bed as pills always send me queasy too!

Welcome to all the newbies!
I can't work out, are we at a point now where there will be no more 'new' BFP-ers? As in everyone who gets their bfp from now onwards will be due after August?

Merry Christmas everyone!

BrieMonster · 24/12/2012 13:17

I'll be 'new'!! Due the first of Aug but been a bit apprehensive about coming on here after recent mc. But I've been sick as a dog so hoping now that it's not some kind of cruel joke and that this one is sticking around!

Hi to everyone I knew before, and everyone else in fact.

Sugarkane · 24/12/2012 14:31

Welcome newbies.

beckie90 Good luck with your scan today xxx

Im on the free healthy start vitamins I was given at booking appointment (year long pilot she said) Plus having to take extra Folic acid on top. Im also on life long b12 injections and still needing to take my vitamin d from Dexter being born. I rattle when I walk and keep forgetting to take them

FoofFighter · 24/12/2012 14:39

I have to take extra folic acid as my bmi is 34.

Merry Christmas everyone, make sure you get enough rest and don't overdo it, take up any offers of help! I will be putting out a story that I have a hangover from tonight to explain any green looking moments and not drinking, and maybe needing to go for a sleep Xmas Wink

Yvonney · 24/12/2012 17:01

Panic over - my oven got fixed!!! Have a great Christmas everyone Smile xxx

TotallyEggFlipped · 24/12/2012 19:15

Glad your oven is fixed Yvonney.

Hope you all have a very happy (and nausea free) Christmas!

Xmas Smile
beckie90 · 24/12/2012 21:36

sugarkane Thankyou, all went well q heartbeat and everything was fine, apart from so far my dates are 1 whole week out on early scan, but that happend with ds1 too on the earlys, but was put back in front at 12wk one so not too concerned over that.

Hope everyone has a lovely Christmas xxx

MrsPennyapple · 24/12/2012 23:11

Hurray about ovens being fixed, heartbeats seen, and new BFPs :)

Have a lovely Christmas everyone, am really jealous of those planning announcements tomorrow - I would love to, it's just too early for us.

JollyOldChristmas · 25/12/2012 06:23

I'm a new one, hi all :) BFP this morning and due somewhere between Aug 24th and Sept 6th. I have long cycles so it is difficult to tell.

I'll be having an ELCS though so DC2 will be an August baby born when DS is around 2 years and 4 months old :)

Will call midwife for booking in after new year.

whyno · 25/12/2012 13:43

Merry Christmas all!

Can I join? Just found out I'm 8 weeks pregnant this morning. Feeling kind of glad I missed the first months worry as I had a mc not too long ago.

Gosh, what a Christmas surprise!

TotallyEggFlipped · 25/12/2012 14:00

What a great Christmas, whyno!

So glad everything's looking good, beckie90

Hope everyone's Christmas announcements went well.

Xmas Smile
chocolatesolveseverything · 25/12/2012 15:15

Wow, Christmas day BFP's - congratulations whyno and Jolly!

LexiLoganberry · 25/12/2012 21:45

purpledana that's the same as me, called the doctors surgery to ask what there procedure was for getting booked in, they wanted a urine sample to confirm positive which I got on 24th, booked in to see midwife at 8 weeks.

With my dd the only symptom I had was a hightened sence of smell, this time I feel sick for most of the day but am not being sick, my boobs are sore especially my right one and nipples hurt too, feeling very tired throughout the day but struggling to sleep which to be honest feels a little cruel, the only thing I've been a little worried about is I've been having cramps, like dull period pains, I've noticed a couple of people have mentioned cramps so is this nothing to worry about and perfectly normal?

Congratulations whyno

Merry Christmas everyone.

Good morning all.

Welcome to the new ladies.

I agree with Foof regarding the pregnacare. I have been taking them and suffer from serious nausea. I did not take one last night and feel better this morning. I have persevered with them as other frolic acid supplements give me diarrhoea or headaches and as a result never took them in my first 2 pgs. I am determined to take them this time only because in the past 2-3 years I have suffered from low iron partly due to heavy AF. I am also more cautious with this pg unlike before yet the first 2 turned out fine.

Due to my expression of dissatisfaction to GP re sending me to a hospital far away, I was referred to my local hospital. Now I have a dilemma, I have bookings for both MW and scan at both hospitals. They both seem to be offering slightly different things ie local one offering dating scan and the other one nucal. The far away hospital also seems no thorough with emphasis on dates, bloods etc. I had DS2 at the local hospital and was pleased with the service. But the prob is that it's maternity wing is closing in Feb tho they will still provide antenatal services. I'm likely to be booked in at another hosp for birth anyway.
I'm very tempted to attend all appts and make a decision thereafter that means 2 scans with a week between.
What would you do?

LoveYouForeverMyBaby · 26/12/2012 11:47

Am 6+3 today....is anyone thinking of booking a private early pg scan to reasssure?

Snufflebabe · 26/12/2012 13:45

Well, how did you all survive Christmas Day with no alcohol?! What a pack of lies I had to tell! I really could have done with a wee drink too. Felt like everyone was having a party night and I was just wanting a hot bath and an early night. Staying with the family is fine, but nothing like getting home and getting into your own bed huh?

LexiLoganberry · 26/12/2012 14:36

monthly I hope everything will be ok for you.

I was woken up during the night with bad stomach pain, dh fetched me some paracetamol and have been better today. Started reading about cramps in early pregnancy and it's normal apparently and is due to the uterus streaching but I can't help but think that at only 5 weeks it's too early for my uterus to be streaching to much, I miscarried at 5 weeks in October and can't help but worry.

lexi I had a lot of cramps, like stitch but just under my belly, for a few days between 4 & 5 weeks. I am now 6wks and hardly get any.
I was sick as a dog yesterday!! Couldn't keep anything down and the cooking smells were making me so quesy. And I guess as a result of not eating, I had no energy at all and could not keep my eyes open! Felt so sorry for my poor hubby and son, felt like I had ruined Xmas :-(
Feel better today tho. Still not much appetite and defo not 100%, but not been sick. God this is harder than I remember! Lol

wavesandsmilesatSanta · 26/12/2012 18:31

Hi everyone and congrats to the Christmas BFPs! Grin

I managed to let the cat out of the bag yesterday, so my mum, sister and BIL are now aware of our news. Waiting til after the scan to tell the children, and that will be around 12 weeks, so that's when we will tell the wider world as well.

Fx for all those of you with early scans soon - I expect I shall be checking in again in a few weeks - off on holiday to Scotland tomorrow for 10 days. Hurrah for time off, and a decent break from work Smile
