AlmondFrangipani · 15/12/2012 13:49

Hi Girls,

Can I join? I have been hovering as I had a mc in the summer and didnt want to 'tempt fate' by jumping on here all keen! But, decided I want to be part of the gang Xmas Wink. .

I am 6+4 (I think). Been having a lot more symptoms than last time so taking that as a good sign but I am finding functioning 'normally' quite tough. I am shattered, nauseaoutious all the time, my boobs are massive and I have some occassional twinges/cramps.

Looking forward to getting to know you all!

FoofFighter · 15/12/2012 14:01

Hello newcomers, congratulations! Have you worked out your probable due dates yet?

I had my first bit of Envy < for future reference this is the pukey face on this thread! someone at work was cooking and I nearly blew my chunks from the smell of it :( and :) at the same time lol

Anyone finding eating full meals hard? I am snacking instead on a tin of cadbury cookies I bought for a Secret Santa

Snufflebabe · 15/12/2012 14:41

Can I join too?

I got my BFP on Tuesday, Clearblue 1-2 weeks. Done another yesterday and it was 2-3 weeks.

Going by the date of my last period, I am 5+3. Symptom wise, I have had very little. I've had moments of queasyness, but no real symptoms yet. Ive had a couple of twinges, but really nothing definete.

I already have a DD, and I had very little symptoms with her. With her, I had the worst cramps I have ever had for a day or so, and then nothing.

Would like some more definite symptoms, but I remember saying that the last time. I have been falling asleep at 9pm, but that really isn't too different from the norm, as I run after a 2 year old all day.

Doctors appointment next week.

Fiancé and I are very excited! It's hard not to get carried away!

Wishing everyone healthy and happy pregnancies!

TiredofZombies · 15/12/2012 17:56

Not sure if I am starting to show, putting on weight generally, or just bloated.

Also not sure if my sense of smell has gone into overdrive, or if my dog just stinks. (She's a filthy animal, loves rolling in revolting things, so there's a good chance it's just her.)

Am ravenously hungry all the time though. When I went up to bed last night DP asked if I was going to have something to eat, as I've been getting hungry in the night. I said no, I thought I'd be ok. Didn't even make it up the stairs before the sudden and immediate hunger pangs struck.

DD is at Nana's tonight so it's dinners on laps in front of the TV for us!

Signet2012 · 15/12/2012 18:10

sneaks in I thought our old thread had been resurrected for a moment! I am a due in aug 12 mum!

Ah I'm getting all sentimental now holding my 3 month old baby girl.

Congratulations all of you Smile

TotallyEggFlipped · 15/12/2012 19:05

So, we've told the PILs. I'm not sure that they really understand why we don't want it to go any further at this stage, but hopefully they'll be able to keep it to themselves until we are ready to share it with the world. (not that hopeful)
Feel really big and I can't do my jeans up, but I think that's my poo baby. (really constipated. TMI, sorry)

IJustWoreMyTrenchcoat · 15/12/2012 19:28

Hello, I am joining after lots of lurking.

I am 5+3 but apart from some cramping I am symptom free. Although I keep imagining I might have a heightened sense of smell. I wish something would kick in because I don't feel any more pregnant now than when I got the faintest of pink lines 11 DPO.

I said to my boyfriend I would finally believe it when I got a 2-3 weeks on a clear blue digital, but have took another test since then as well... I am giddy with excitement but so scared at the same time.

When I phoned the GP surgery to find out when I could have my booking appointment they told me the Midwife wouldn't want to see me until 10-12 weeks! Sure this is duff advice, I work in a hospital laboratory and in my area bookings normally come in between 6-9 weeks. It doesn't seem very long to organise a scan and nuchal translucency at 12 weeks or so if I wait till then. But I will leave it till after New Year now I think and try to phone again.

ruthietoothie · 15/12/2012 19:47

Hi to the newcomers, and congratulations on your pregnancies!

I've been having a tough couple of days with work as feel like I'm being dishonest not telling people as they're making plans that involve me but (if all goes well) ill be off on mat leave. Really don't want to tell work though until after the 12 week mark....

Also find it hard to think of career going on hold so soon again - I've only been back six months from my last spell of mat leave.

Don't know how rest of you feel but I'm finding it hard thinking rationally about any of this because of all the hormonal stuff that is part and parcel with early pregnancy!

Totally egg...For constipation I recommend a daily dose of six prunes - it works a treat! How did the pil react to the news? Are you pleased that you've told them?

I'm thinking of telling my parents over Xmas even though will only be about seven weeks or so by then...

sunflowerlady · 15/12/2012 20:39

I'm there with the constipation...went this morning after 5 days!! Hope to not repeat that again!!!

trenchcoat is the midwife at the same surgery as your doctor? Can you not just bypass the doctor and book direct with midwife? I saw mine last week (was 7 weeks that day) and said I thought I was a bit early and she said no the sooner the better so can get scan in at the crucial time.

Ruthie Glad you mentioned the thinking rationally bit because I just can't at the min. Should be over the moon but been so tired and drained with the constant nausea since finding out, forever shouting at 3.5 year old DS, he told me this week that he just wanted me to be happy :-(. I am hoping hormones will pick up for the better soon.

IJustWoreMyTrenchcoat · 15/12/2012 20:58

sunflower i thought it best to go early too, not as soon as i found out but i didnt want to risk missing any important dates.

I didn't even speak to a Dr, only got as far as a Receptionist! I think I will ask to just go through to the Midwife next time. I couldn't really make myself too clear or argue my point as I made the phone call during a break at work and my manager walked past me on the corridor not once, but twice.

I am hoping to keep the news quiet for a while yet, and want my bloods analysed at a different hospital.

IJustWoreMyTrenchcoat · 15/12/2012 21:01

Oops, sorry for the small i throughout, thought it was automatically converting them to I.

TotallyEggFlipped · 15/12/2012 21:15

Ruthie PILs are delighted, so just hoping they'll be able to keep it to themselves for a while.
I don't think even prunes would enable me to deliver my poo baby over the next few days. Neither of PIL's toilets are even remotely private and only one of them even has a lock.

DaveMccave · 15/12/2012 21:45

Hi everyone new. I've not been on a few days as my internets down and it's tricky on my phone.

totallyegg what's the deal with no bread?

So I'm babysitting tonight. Kids have just gone to bed and I'm still watching diary of a wimpy kid on my own as I don't know how to work the telly :( so so weird being on my second sober weekend of the year I'm going to offer to babysit lots I think, would've good to bank some favours while I'm not drinking and as I've just realised it will be summer holidays when we're due, I might appreciate someone taking DD for days out.

Still no sickness here, v strange as I was so poorly with it by now with dd... Exhaustion kicked in though yesterday and I also cried ALL afternoon/evening for no reason whatsoever. Felt completely unhinged. So didn't go to the Christmas night out I'd been dreading in the end.

Has anyone else got creepy older dc's talking babies? 5 year old dd who has shown very little interest in siblings before keeps asking for a baby brother. Asking questions about pregnancy, and even stroked my tummy the other day when I was putting her to bed and looked at me and said 'oooh, there might be a baby in there you know...' SO weird. She's asked for a brother called prince Hugo. Forgetting the prince... I'm impressed with the name choice! (we'll also forget she wants a sister after, called Sindy) and so dp and I have nicknamed the none-bump Hugo.

ruthietoothie · 15/12/2012 21:49

Totallyegg - there's also lactulose which you can get from pharmacy but isnt the nicest! Bet pils over the moon

Sunflower - the emotions / hormones stuff is just horrid! Keep getting upset and then trying to remind myself it's just the hormones all over the place. As far as I can remember things start getting easier when make second trimester (shame that's six long weeks away)....

Think too emotions and feelings are all a bit more messy and confused with already having my daughter - and knowing there's only going to be 20 months between her and this next one (all being well)

Sugarkane · 15/12/2012 22:20

Dave DD keeps talking about her baby sister and telling daddy he needs to hurry up and plant his seed.

Ruthie 20 months is a great age gap, I have a 17 between DD and DS1 and 27 months between DS1 and DS2 and this one will be another 17 month gap. DD and DS1 are so close even if they fight like cat and dog I love watching them play together.

Im finding it hard keeping from family, thank god I work from home and dont have the office to worry about too

nicnic79 · 15/12/2012 22:54

evening all , just lying in bed 8+3 today and the first day in a week and a half I didn't have sickness so that was nice x been having a bit of pain tonight feeling quite uncomfortable so had some pain killers .
I'm not cramping not like period pains it feels more like a bruised pulling feeling I've put it down to my womb stretching . which in a nice way is cool . but bloody uncomfortable !!

LoveYouForeverMyBaby · 15/12/2012 23:50

For those expecting #2+ has your cramping been less prominent than 1st time round?

TotallyEggFlipped · 16/12/2012 02:35

Dave I don't know what the deal is with no bread. It's normally my favourite food! I snack on it constantly & have it with every meal. I just can't face it most if the time now. I can just about cope with a sandwich, but that's just to have something to put meat inside. (and I normally only eat meat about once a month or less).

duende · 16/12/2012 08:47

love , yes, I'm pregnant with DC2 and this time only had some cramping for about a week or so. Last time, I remember it went on for weeks. Are you the same?

DaveMccave · 16/12/2012 12:30

totallyegg aah, it's an aversion. I thought maybe it was something we should be avoiding and I didn't know! What a bummer. I did actually read something the other day that said bread should be limited because it increases fatigue and too many carbs make you feel a lot worse in early pg, so maybe your body is giving you a helping hand. I had an aversion to tuna with DD, and I wonder if its because of the mercury?

DaveMccave · 16/12/2012 14:00

Who knew we are allowed Stilton?! Ooh I've been quite worried because my mum usually gets me Stilton and Brie in for Christmas, I've been googling to see if I could have them baked, as I'm looking for a veggie option for Xmas dinner anyway... And the NHS guidelines say baked is fine (whole slab of baked Brie here I come :) ) AND Stilton is fine cold as it's a hard not soft cheese. Whoop! www.nhs.uk/chq/Pages/2683.aspx?CategoryID=54&SubCategoryID=216

PurpleDana · 16/12/2012 14:46

Hi all. I'm 4+5 and due 10th August by my calculations. So excited :-)
I am getting a lot of twinges and have put on loads of weight! Seriously, almost 2 dress sizes already! But apart from that, feeling good :-)

DaveMccave · 16/12/2012 15:23

Hi purple :)

Did you add the 2 weeks on your conception date? It's worked out as your 4 weeks from first day of missed period, even though its only 2 weeks from conception as first day of pregnancy is counted from first day of your last period for some reason! Just curious that something's not quite right as I'm 5.2 and due date 16th!

FoofFighter · 16/12/2012 15:31

I'm 5+5 with a date of 13th August
