Welcome aboard ladies.

Let's do this Journey together.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Sugarkane · 13/12/2012 08:43

Opps sorry Helga I missed that, yes as Dave said you are more 5+5. Was too late last night and more interested in how to write it than noticing that you where further along.

Goig to book in for the 2nd time today, FX I have the right day now

Re: pate question
I read (on the advice the midwife gave me) that all pate is not recommended, even veggie, it is due to the risk of listeria.
With my first pregnancy I was quite relaxed and had a little bit of whatever I fancied (i didn't even know runny eggs were banned!). This time round, I am feeling a lot more cautious, but that is purely personal based on how long this has taken to happen. In reality, the stats are probably quite low on the the instances of listeria, you have to decide what sits better with you. I can live without pate but I love eggs!

Hope everyone is feeling well today. I actually managed to sleep last night (with real crazy dreams to boot) which is about the best present imaginable.

Any tips on avoiding MS greatly accepted, I had terrible sea-sickness (rarely throwing up but feeling constantly nauseous) last time - for weeks and weeks - and I would love to avoid it or at least lessen it this time round.

Anyone else craving salt and vinegar crisps by the way? (i don't even really like/eat crisps normally!).
x

Morning fellow Augusteers. I'm 5+4 with my 2nd, not told anyone yet, only DP and the doctor know.

I had a MC in June, but we hadn't told anyone I was pg, as we were waiting for the 12 week scan. I told a couple of friends about the MC but not family. So now I'm pg again and although I am sure all will be fine, I can't help being a little worried. Not sure when to tell family though, there is not a chance on this earth that MIL will be able to keep it quiet.

I am tempted to tell MIL and SIL, but tell them both they are the only person who knows - see who cracks and spills the beans first!

TiredofZombies · 13/12/2012 10:40

Oops, meant to say due date 11th August but that's based on an internet calculator, and I had a short cycle beforehand as well, so not really sure.

What a brilliant idea, telling family at Christmas! I don't know why I didn't think of that. They'll love it :)

So I'm not the only one getting mouth ulcers then? Is that a common symptom?

GaryBuseysTeeth · 13/12/2012 10:47

Hi Helga, Love.

Tired, we told MIL I was expecting when I had a mc, but told her not to tell anyone...I mc-ed and then lots of people 'sent their love' Xmas Hmm
We've told her this time too, but told her not to tell anyone, so will be interesting to see if anyone else mentions it over Christmas.

Sugar, hope today is the day!

bzz, I'm quite strict when it comes to following the rules...I don't know anyone in the world ever contracted listeria from deli meat or pate but I don't want to be the first pregnant person who does!
I only had terrible sea sickness (no vomit!) last time around so have no idea on MS, I just eat little and often (I've got a massive pot of yogurt in the fridge & I have a spoonful whenever I feel a bit nauseous).

Snowshine, rant away! I know how you feel. I'm still doing tests every few days just because I want to be prepared if I do have another mc.

to everyone else.

LoveYouForeverMyBaby · 13/12/2012 11:11

Does anyone else not feel pg at all? No sickness, boobs normal, no crazy dreams, no excessive weeing only tired but I have a 1 year old.keeping it'll be a mmc for some reason.

4.5 weeks early for symptoms or is this not a great sign?

beckie90 · 13/12/2012 11:29

It's quite dif for every one loveyouforever, but 4.5wk is still early, mine have properly just started coming full force I'm 6wk 1 day by lmp, but think I'm less than that by a few days, given the circumstances I'm really hoping that's a good thing xx

HelgatheHairy · 13/12/2012 11:31

Thanks for all the welcomes, it's my first baby so I've a feeling ill be here a lot!

With regard to how far along I am, I used the estimated delivery date calculator on here and it said my estimated conception date was 17 Novemver (which fits - we did it very little in November but we did on that date!) so does that make me 3 or 5? I'm confused by this pregnancy stuff already!

sunflowerlady · 13/12/2012 11:32

Hi all new people and welcome.

Just got back from 1st Midwife appt, explained my natural birth fears to her (from birth of DS) and she basically said I've got more chance of flying to the moon than having an elective c-section.

I thought 'that's what you think'

Well frustrations aside, I know I've got a long way to go yet but was kind of hoping for a little bit more understanding.

Hope everyone is doing ok and fellow nausea ladies are getting through it.

LoveYouForeverMyBaby · 13/12/2012 11:37

Thank you beckie still anxious I havent seen the doctor yet.

TiredofZombies · 13/12/2012 11:47

I thought I was pretty much symptom free, aside from very slight tingly boobs on a couple of occasions. I'd forgotten about the crazy dreams!

The other night I dreamed that the place I worked was putting on a big event, which the Queen would be attending. I was given the job of getting her some lunch. She wanted a turkey and Twiglet sandwich.

Autumn12 · 13/12/2012 12:12

I had a crazy Eastenders related dream last night - I had no idea it was a pregnancy related thing. I just thought my insomnia was affecting my brain!

FoofFighter · 13/12/2012 12:19

helga you are already 4 weeks pregnant by the time your period was due if thats any help, no idea why they do it that way tbh.

hello new bfps, congratulations and good luck :)

I am gearign myself up to ringing to EPU as I mmc last time, was told to go direct to them and not through MWs. Part of me wants to just stick my head in the sand about it all though and just wait and see what happens.

Sugarkane · 13/12/2012 12:26

It was today yaaaay. Same midwife as I had last time, she said when she saw my name she had to double check as didnt think it would be me again.

Regarding eggs you can have them runny as long as they have a lion mark, same with the "banned" cheese, that's allowed as long as its cooked fully. I have had pate in last preg at Christmas, but its only a little bit and only on Christmas day.

RuckAndRoll · 13/12/2012 12:28

foof go make that phone call, the ostrich look is not a good one! I spend half my life with my head in the sand

Is it too early to blame cravings on being pregnant?! I'm really craving supernoodles at the moment - sat here with nice bowl of them for lunch Xmas Smile

Sugarkane · 13/12/2012 12:29

Foof Good luck with the phone call.

just checked my 12 week scan appointment.... 4th December 2012, anyone have a time machine?

RuckAndRoll · 13/12/2012 12:29

sugarkane glad it was today Xmas Smile I'm very jelous, mine isn't until 7th January.

GaryBuseysTeeth · 13/12/2012 12:32

Sugar, for the 2 weeks after my mc I was getting letters & phone calls reminding me that I had my booking appointment & scan, t'was proper shit. And another reason I'm not seeing MW until after scan next week.
Well done on getting the right day!

Ruck, I'm craving/off foods atm so it's not too early. Although supernoodles are a strange one!

sunflower, hope you get the birth you want in the end.

Arf at Queenie wanting twiglets & turkey in her sandwich, I do miss my late pg crazy sex dreams (had one about Alex Reid last time, needed much brain bleach).

sunflowerlady · 13/12/2012 12:58

Gary lol for your Alex Reid dream, although hasn't helped much with my Nausea!!!
Last time round I developed a crush on James May!!!! Thank god it disappeared as soon as DS was born!

Ruck I'd say there is no time too early for cravings to start (especially if it's something totally yummy that you are not actually craving ;-) !! ). No cravings here yet, wanting to eat would be a good start!

FoofFighter · 13/12/2012 13:10

dreams, what are they? you need to be able to sleep for those don't you?! I've not slept properly since Sunday :(

Decided I am not going to ring until mid next week as I will only be 6 weeks on tuesday and I don't want to be scanned too early and have that is there a viable or not thing going on over xmas, the later I leave it the better I think as more chance at 7 weeks of getting a straight answer, 7 weeks is Xmas Day itself, so I guess it'd be the end of that week.

[re-buries head in sand]

bzzbee · 13/12/2012 14:11

Hello

Did someone mention a pregnancy app earlier (too lazy to scroll back pages) - pls could u post the name on here if u recommend it?

I've just eaten a weekly ratio of cheese and crackers, seemed to be the only food i could face.
That and drinking fizzy water (hic).
BTW did anyone here have gestational diabetes before? I did with no1 so preparing for same outcome again if things proceed. It was ok in the end though, strict diet control etc (Yawn).

x

LittleMissSnowShine · 13/12/2012 14:17

Argh sickness is really kicking in now! Sadly even though this is my third time round of going through this I have no tips - salty crackers, oat cakes, dry Belvita biscuits all help A BIT but nothing really works effectively. I had to take cyclazine and it sort of worked for me but mainly cos it knocked me out and when I was asleep I wasn't throwing up lol Hoping to avoid that this time but have to wait and see how bad it gets!

foof - i'm with you! i know i could ask GP to just phone EPU for me when I see him next week and I'm sure they'd see me in next couple of weeks if GP asks and they'd give me an early scan. But I kind of want to stick head in the sand too!

sunflower - sorry you had a rough time last time. I did too :( Very long back to back labour, throwing up almost the whole time til I was sedated, lots of stitches, lost quite a lot of blood, just the whole works of nastiness, followed by needing an ERPC after mmc this summer. So my feeling towards labour wards and EPUs are not the warmest!! Still hoping for a natural birth this time round though, but if you feel strongly about an elective caesarian I hope that you get one x

wavesandsmilesatSanta · 13/12/2012 18:43

Cheese and crackers cravings here too. Cheddar is boring already - any tips on other legal cheese?

Got my booking in appt in the post today. It's next wednesday and at home. Never had that before .... Still saves a trip out and both DH and I are off work next week so will both be present. Although has hit me that as our house is in a state of disarray giving we are renovating I have no idea how to make the place presentable.

Hating the nausea fainting and sore boobs but reassured that I am having strong symptoms. Still waiting on MH referral. Really could do with that coming soon and was a little bit disappointed that today's letter was not to do with that. Just got to take things a day at a time I guess!

FoofFighter · 13/12/2012 19:15

legal cheese Xmas Grin love it! Anything that's hard and/or pasteurised isn't it? or cooked through if it's not?

ruthietoothie · 13/12/2012 19:34

Hi, room for another newbie?! I'm due on 8/8 and had an early scan today that put me at six weeks exactly. I've got a little girl already who is only just one so if all goes well I'm heading for the two under two scenario (eek)

Had to have early scan due to having op under general anaesthetic when must have been about three or so weeks pregnant (though test was negative).

Scan showed heartbeat so hoping all will be and stay fine!

Feeling constantly sick and having to snack to ward off nauseau. Going to be size of house in now time at this rate
