hi all - Im off for the next week to New York with DH for a week for relaxation before christmas. Thankfully Grandma is looking after our DD so we are child free - BLISS!!!! Planning on eating, sleeping and shopping ...anyway look after yourselves and I look forward to catching up with all your news when I get back

lollypopsicle · 08/12/2012 23:04

picklep the mucous is the one thing that is still making me gag Hmm it's worse in the mornings. It also makes me cough at night which is driving me mad. I've had this problem once before when not pregnant and the doc prescribed a nasal steroid spray which worked a treat- no chance of that this time! I really don't remember mucous bring an issue in my last pregnancy.

Anyone on DC 2 and not feel movement like last time? The movements are just not as definite or regular this time round. Freaks me out a bit and is making me wonder whether any movements I think I feel are actually in my head or just wind or something. Though, as I type this, I'm thinking I can feel some wriggles. I'm just not as sure as last time.

mwncigirl · 08/12/2012 23:11

Hey lolly I'm completely with you re the movements. I can clearly remember the first time I felt DC1, and the regular movements. This time I was getting really worried as its not so regular or strong. I'm quite small and my tummy muscles were pretty good last time. I wonder if its just that there's more room in thereWink

Hey everyone

It's been AGES since I posted - in fact, I don't think I'm even on this thread so far Xmas Shock. I have been thinking of you all and just caught up on some of your news.

LittleB my heart goes out to you and your family. You have been such a lovely source of humour and support to everyone and you'll be missed. Please stay in touch.

I'm suffering dreadful insomnia at the moment which is why I've suddenly found time to read through the thread. It's never been something I've been affected by before, except on the occasions where I've been working late and can't switch off.

It's 2.45am and, after drifting off in front of the tv at 10.30, I've been unable to sleep at all.

Anyone else up?

LetMeAtTheWine · 09/12/2012 04:31

Hi everyone, hope you are all well.
I am wide awake Angry not sure if it's a pregnancy issue or due to my depression as it has always been one of my main problems when suffering depression. Grrrrr - very frustrating! I have an appointment for CBT soon so hopefully that will help...

I also keep getting a blocked nose at around 4 or 5 in the morning which is very odd. Lasts for about an hour then clears. Anyone else suffering from any slightly odd symptoms?

I don't mean to be rude by not mentioning anyone's names or issues they have raised - am using the app so can't scroll back whilst typing and my memory is rubbish! Anyway, whoever mentioned the robot sleepsuit - I think Tesco have some as well. Too the person who had a bit of a bleed - I hope you are well rested, it must have been scary for you Sad and the person whose husband is suffering from depression - I hope you both get the support you need. It is an awful illness.

Anyway, over and out from me - I'm off to nose at some threads.. Smile

Picklep · 09/12/2012 06:50

beaver nice to see you back, glad all OK apart from the insomnia. I've been having difficulty sleeping too, just never seem to fall into deep sleep, spend all night turning from one side to the other. So spend the days feeling tired. Trying to look on positive side, that I might get used to functioning on little sleep when baby arrives.

I'm up at this silly hour (on a Sunday) because I've got an achey bump! It feels so a achey, bruised an tender...anyone else had this? It's really uncomfortable but with the rate at which the bump is growing, not surprising.

lolly i agree, the cough/gagging is awful. My mw says ot's very common since we are overproducing mucus (gross I know) but if you have any pre-existing issues it will be worse and I've always suffered with sinus issues since childhood.

18 + 1 (can't believe I'm here already! Nerves are kicking in a little)

ArtigeneAuberchoke · 09/12/2012 07:52

Moo - have fun in NY. A pre-Christmas NY break sans children sounds like heaven to me.

Lolly - I think we are still quite early for consistent noticeable movements. I've never reached that stage before 20/22 weeks. I am feeling a bit more this time as I don't think I'd felt anything by this stage with numbers 1 & 2.

Beaver - I too am suffering with insomnia. I get to sleep v easily but usually wake between 2-3am for a wee and then can't dermis for an hour or so. I also wake around 6am which is incredibly annoying as I don't feel full of energy and I'm sure I could do with more sleep. Like you I never suffered with this before (at least not after the first trimester).

Pickle - sorry about the painful bump. I still don't really have a bump, just a small jelly belly. Maybe try a hot bath?

Jen, Beaut and others with bad sickness - is your nausea still bothering you? Mine is. It's better but not gone and sometimes (like now) it's still pretty nasty. I've never had it this late before.

Are any of you concerned about how much exposure your bump is getting to radiation through your smart phones and lap tops etc? My iPhone is never more than a few inches from my bump (I keep it in my pocket and at night it's right next to my bed). It's on and attracting Wifi 24/7. Half the time I'm on it holding it inches above the baby. Do you think it's something to cut down on? I've never seen any science on it but I expect nobody knows the long term effects as this lever of smart phone and wifi use is relatively new.

pickle have achy bump too! Just in the last 2 days (which also seems to be the point at which people have started noticing). I have been using core stomach muscles a lot for work (I'm a musician) in the last few days and doing about 4 hours driving a day so maybe that doesn't help. Have seen those bump bands for sale in all maternity departments, are they for when you are mahoosive at the end or is achy bump the time to try one?! Xmas Hmm
Sorry to hear about people's insomnia. Can't think of what to suggest other than warm milk, relaxing music and a good non brain-taxing book to read at bedtime. No insomnia for the last month or so but some majorly odd dreams! My brain seems to be switched on baby channel until the last second before I sleep and then I dream all sorts of weird stuff. People are popping up from years ago and I keep dreaming adventure dreams about water. Makes for interesting stories in the morning.

Have a fab time in New York whoever it was (sorry am on phone). Don't miss Katz's Deli (where they filmed THAT scene from When Harry Met Sally), the idea of a pastrami on rye from there right now makes my soul ache :)
Have a lovely relaxing sunday everyone Brew

Forgot to say 19+1...

shelly81 · 09/12/2012 10:28

Hi ladies .... Were finally having pink after 2 boys were over the moon & burst into tears when she told us .. Would recommend the scans to anyone they are truly amazing xxx

SevenElvesAndAReindeer · 09/12/2012 10:45

Congratulations shelly, that's lovely news!

beaut glad the bleeding was nothing bad, hope you feel better soon.

Have an amazing time in NY moo.

Sympathies to those suffering from insomnia, sickness and achey bumps.

I don't keep my phone in my pocket or have the laptop on my lap when I'm pregnant, other than that I don't think there's much we can do about the radiation tbh.

hey all!

pickle have you been walking lots/overdoing it? If I do I get an achy bump too, and my lower back aches so I have to sit down and drink tea for a bit :) Although it is rubbish am glad i am not the only one to have it already (does that make me a bad person?! Blush) I think it must be ligaments and stuff, and as our bumps are burgeoning now I wonder if our balance is a bit off kilter and different muscles under our bump etc are working that don't normally? Anyway, rest up for a bit! (yay)

lolly I am with you on the movements too! phew, have been getting a bit paranoid. With DS i had him tapping away by now but this one I can feel squirming sometimse and some really subtle taps and then I also wonder if it was my imagination! I had some great strong boots the other day then back to vague wriggley feelings... Hmm

shelly how lovely, congrats! was it a private scan then?

have a fab time in NY moo! have never been and can't wait to go just me and DH... will be a while now!

wirra am not sure which bump bands you mean but the only ones I know of are the ones that you use in early pg over your trousers to hide the fact you have had to undo your top button! Do you mean the support bands? To be utterly useless I don't know much about them, but overbump trousers are lovely when my bump is feeling a wee bit sore... would that help?

beaut sorry about your scare! it's horrible isn't it. hopefully you'll get used to it and know what your threshold of activity is before you have any spotting.

bugger about insomnia peeps - hopefully it will go soon Thanks

AFM I am also showing now! My friend was like 'oooh! You look so pregnant now!' and i was as pleased as punch :) Still look a bit fat when sat down tho Blush AND I walked two miles friday and yesterday which, with my low-lying placenta, would normally kick off some spotting but I have had none! None! WOW. I am really hoping it means the placenta has moved now to higher ground. fingers crossed. to be able to get out and about would be fab :)

Thanks you all. Feeling crappy still so think I'm going to have to cave and get some antibiotics tomorrow.

Seven Wow that's so great.Huge congratulations. Really pleased for you.Have you noticed any difference in your pregnancy this time compared to previous two.

Wilde I wonder ifs bleeding was because of low lying placenta then.Is that common. They didn't say anything about it at hospital.Just said to ask them at my 20 week scan if placenta is still low.Wonder if that's why I have to still keep peeing all the time.

Sorry for anything I haven't mentioned. Like others have said its really hard to remember on an iPhone on my bb I could scroll back.

BeauticianNotMagician · 09/12/2012 13:19

To those with an achy bump I've had this in all my pregnancies even now when my muscles have all been stretched before.

Does anyone get a numb hip when lying on their side. I keep getting it all the time so perhaps time to invest on a pregnancy pillow.

Pickle Was it you that asked about slapped cheek. It is a viral infection which sometimes presents itself as a cold In early stages but not always and the most obv symptom is flushed cheeks (slapped cheek) which is a rash that spreads across the body.Is only a problem in pregnant women in the first 20 weeks but often we will already have immunity which is why my blood was taken.

Anyone looking for maternity wear ASOS have 20 per cent off today.Use the code SAVVY20 at checkout.I just got a gorgeous red dress for Christmas Day as well as some other bits.

berri · 09/12/2012 14:10

shelly81 · 09/12/2012 15:01

MammaBrussels · 09/12/2012 17:07

Welcome to club pink Shelly!

Kittykatmacbill · 09/12/2012 17:40

Hello,

moo totally jealous of your trip to NYC, despite only coming back from Brussels 8 weeks ago! Would love a city break again!

Well done on finding out your genders, we are definitely going for a surprise, but it might have made things easier on the naming front, we have worked out a boys name okay but girls name we now have a list of 18 names my dh Doesn't mind... Xmas Confused

Today I went to my first pregnancy yoga class (yoga bellies) it was amazing! Totally recogmend it, way more positive experience than mean old midwifes...

Kittykatmacbill · 09/12/2012 17:44

Stupid phone wasn't finished!

Had a massive sore tender bump between Monday and Wednesday, total agony to touch. Now small bump again. Most odd but does at least mean my work fleece doesnt look like it is going to burst!

17 weeks

Ps - nicked my dh stethoscope to listen to my bump, you can't hear anything useful, but sounds like its sploshing round a swimming pool in there.

SevenElvesAndAReindeer · 09/12/2012 18:03

beaut the bleeding is highly likely due to your low-lying placenta. If it doesn't move out of the way it's a condition called placenta previa, it isn't dangerous but means the placenta covers the cervix, you're more likely to bleed and you'd need a c-section, which I think you said you wanted anyway? Usually it moves out of the way though by 20 weeks which is why they said to ask.

kitty we have a girls name picked already, but no idea about boys names!

Is anyone else looking forward to the X factor final tonight. I need to be a mean mummy and try to get DS to bed early and hope he won't notice!
