littleb lurk if you feel you can, we'd love to hear how you're getting on. Take care of yourself and I hope you get the support you need xx

Both the DCs have bad colds, and DD had her MMR jab this morning. On a positive note our new bed and mattress arrived yesterday, best nights sleep I've had in years!

littleb like others have said, it would be lovely to hear from you and I wish you all the best xx

I am truly shocked about the latest development in the prank calll to the duchesses nurse, the receptionist has comitted suicide. Its all so dreadful and poor poor Kate, the stress and trauma. Not to mention that poor womans' husband and two children. Dreadful. To think that the two DJs responsible have still not apologised and continue to boast about their prank (maybe that will change now).

GeordieCherry · 07/12/2012 19:10

Pickle they have apologised for causing any 'issues' & their twitter accounts have been suspended
Had 16 week appointment with the MW yesterday. Heard the heartbeat for the first time. It took a little while but the MW wasn't looking worried so I was ok. She said it was "doing Zumba" Grin
Also has cervical scan due to excisions last year. All good there too, will check again at 20 & 28 weeks

babygeek · 07/12/2012 20:33

littleb will miss you and your good banter on here! Sending you lots of hugs and cups of tea. All the very best to you and your DH for Xmas and the new year. Thanks x

Just been at my work Xmas party. Was very strange not having some wine and cocktails. Felt rather sensible as others started to get a bit pissed, not like me at all! Last year we went out dancing and didn't get home till 4! Times have changed!

DP has been suffering from his recurring depression and is finding it a bit tough with the changes ahead even though he is really excited and keeps touching my belly. Please send us some good vibes! He is signed up for some counselling so I might speak to my midwife if it takes a while to get it sorted. Our wee bump was a bit of a (lovely) surprise although not totally unexpected but it is quite a bit to take in.

Geordie hearing the heartbeat is such a buzz!

Hope everyone else is doing ok.

Geek have you & Mr G thought about going to Relate together to talk changes? I've found them v helpful in the past
Sending lots if healing vibes to you both Smile

Hiya, I get the crazy itchiness too. I had it with my first and thankfully didn't have the obstetric liver condition (which can be a concern with extreme itching).
I'm having it this time too. Haven't been checked yet for the condition. Maybe you should mention it to you midwife.

I take cyclazine, dompidon and if they don't work ondanszotron for anti sickness. I took them before I was pregnant and still take them now. Definitely worth considering asking your GP if its still causing a big problem.

With my 1st pregnancy I lost weight and didn't put any weight on until the last one month or so, putting on 6lbs. Reason for weight loss was probably because I had hyperemesis.
This time so far I've lost 5lbs and put 2.5 back on again. So still slightly under.

I'm actually a bit concerned at the moment. I did feel positive baby flutters.
I haven't for over a week. I know it's irregular at this stage but I'm still a bit worried.
I also have a smaller belly (like another of you mentioned). And I just don't feel pregnant.
I have lots of reflx, sickness, etc with my other health problems so its unreliable to go on if they are pregnancy symptoms too.

MaybeAMayBaby · 08/12/2012 08:48

Thanks Reeny, I had a blood test at the mw. I'm not too concerned, from what I've read, the itchy lower legs is very common.

I had a week (last week?) when I worried I hadn't felt anything. I've been feeling movements since week 13-14 and then they stopped. They're back with a vengeance this week. Lots of kicks an somersaults in the evenings the last couple of days.
My bump also seems to grow and shrink. I feel really huge at the moment. Kids at school have mostly 'got it' now (secondary) but my bump sticks out way past my GG boobs! I'm sure I must be bigger than this stage last time.
Feeling pretty good at the moment. The next few months if I remember correct are the 'best' in terms of how you feel. Just got to get the next scan (not until Jan for me Sad) and hopefully we can relax.

Still not completely decided in if to wait until Jan for gender scan or to go private before Xmas. Some days I feel quite relaxed and can wait, then the next I'm desperate to know! I still like the idea of not telling anyone. I like te idea of people getting the news after I've given birth and it being a surprise. Anyone done this?

shelly81 · 08/12/2012 09:39

I'm having a private gender scan this afternoon .. My 2 boys are so excited I just couldn't wait till 2nd jan when I should of found out :-)) xx

GeordieCherry · 08/12/2012 09:43

17 weeks today Smile & bra fitting tomorrow Grin, getting very uncomfy. Heard the best things about Bravissimo, but they don't do my size Hmm
DP rolled in at 5 this morning, I love being hangover freeeee!
It was his works night out & he (tried) to tell me when he got in how a very dolled up woman has been chatting him up. He said "my beautiful intelligent girlfriend is at home pregnant & what's sexy is a green hoody & a pair of joggers". That's what I'd dropped him off in. It was very sweet, but very loud at 5 am!!
How's everyone?
Maybe I don't want to find out but DP does...!

babygeek · 08/12/2012 10:46

Thanks for the helpful advice Geordie, I had a look at the Relate website and it seems like it would be the right thing for us so will discuss it with Mr G :)

Have fun at your bra fitting, I think I am in need of one very soon as the girls are starting to spill out of current bras. Your DP sounds like a real sweetie!

I am quite keen to find out baby flavour but I love the idea of it being a surprise too. I think we might get the sonographer to write it down and put it in an envelope like some of the other ladies on here, then see who caves in first! My mum is desperate to pink-wash or blue-wash the poor baby... I have bought the cutest onesies with wee robots on them. That is my idea of cute baby clothing (for a boy or girl!) but then I am an engineer Grin

GeordieCherry · 08/12/2012 11:39

It's going to be mainly animals here. The boy clothing is much cooler than the girls stuff. I do like the sound of these robots, where from?
DP wants to find out so we can "be more organised" but I want a gender neutral room & I don't waiting just just little bit longer for a 50/50 outcome is going to make much difference!
We've got so many friends with babies I'm hoping to need to buy very little. Just cloth nappies. You can do a list at Boots like a wedding list I discovered today... Think people should get us what they want as a gift (but will be pointed in the direction of tots bots etc Smile)

babygeek · 08/12/2012 15:36

Boots list sounds good, will have to check it out. Robot onesies were from M&S I think.

M&S looks like it has some lovely baby clothes. More patterns and stripy unisex sort of stuff. Am trying to refrain from buying any as we are getting lots of hand-me-downs. That boots list sounds good too.
geek hope Relate helps a bit. My partner suffered from depression and had a brilliant therapist who did CBT with him. He hasn't had any problems with it since. Wishing you all the best :)

rachywhite83 · 08/12/2012 16:52

I had a special gift from my dad. He bought a gorgeous baby grow and jacket today. Something to treasure Smile

Picklep · 08/12/2012 17:02

Thanks all for the reassurances about the scan and anterior placenta, really can't wait now!

shelly81 how did you get on with scan? What flavour baby are you having?

Picklep · 08/12/2012 17:09

All my fellow morning gaggers/excessive mucus producing mummys.....are you still the same? I'm not AS bad but still there, it's so annoying not to mention embarrassing when you have friends staying. I've started to have a cup of hot water with lemon juice first thing, it has improved things a little.

SevenElvesAndAReindeer · 08/12/2012 17:46

Ooh shelly come and tell us what you're having!

maybe finding out the sex but not telling sounds like a really lovely idea, I bet DH wouldn't be up for it though I might suggest it to him.

reeny I'm also not feeling as many movements, the very odd flutter every couple of days but not as many as before. I haven't bothered ringing MW as I doubt it'd be taken seriously at this stage tbh. I do have an ever increasing bump though so I'm guessing baby has just moved and I'm feeling it less. Also when I had my scan they didn't say where my placenta is Hmm. Does anyone know if it tends to be in the same place as previous pregnancies?

geordie hope your DP isn't feeling too worse for wear today.

wirra yes M&S do lovely baby/kids clothes. I find they're a similar quality and style to next but generally surprisingly cheaper. They're also great for maternity and nursing bras. Even if you get enough hand-me-downs I recommend buying one nice sleepsuit. We bought a lot of plain white ones for DS plus one nice special one, DD re-used the plain ones but again we bought one nice one for her. Said nice sleepsuits are now in their sentimental baby boxes along with cards from when they were born, first Xmas cards, hospital bands etc, after the plain ones have been passed on to other babies.

Has anyone else somehow 'known' what they were having in a previous pregnancy but not this time? With both DS and DD I had really strong feelings of what they each were by now, I honestly just knew. This time I honestly have no idea whatsoever, not even leaning one way or the other. I've also got no ideas about names whereas before I've had a few ideas by now. Has anyone started thinking about names yet?

BeauticianNotMagician · 08/12/2012 18:11

Shelly Come and share.I bet you've gone shopping.

Seven I didn't find out with my boys what I was having but went out and bought blue both times as just knew. This time I've no idea.

Had an awful day yesterday went to go as I had a small amount of bleeding and cramps.I was sent straight to hospital and luckily all is fine.I had to have a blood test to check for slapped cheek as it is going around at my children's school. They scanned me and I have a low lying placenta at the moment.

I am absolutely full of cold feel awful.Sore ear, throat and my head is banging.I haven't slept in 3 nights and have now developed a cough.I will have to go back to gp as not felt this ill in years.

DP is being surprisingly unsympatheticHmm so I just feel like a moaning annoyance to him at the moment.

ArtigeneAuberchoke · 08/12/2012 18:12

Ow, ow, ow. This baby gives me no noticeable movement for days then surprises me with sudden god-awful sharp prods. It happen at the beginning of last week and twice today. Each time I've cried out. Each time it's exactly the sane place (approx one inch to the left of my belly button) so I think I might have a raw nerve there. Today I prodded baby back so he whacked the nerve again for good measure. Hasn't so much as lightly tapped me since.

Actually today's painful prods were while we decorated our tree which is funny as four years ago we were decorating our tree when I went into labour with DD2. I think my uterus is sensitive to tree decorating duties.

We haven't told anyone this one's gender yet. We probably will after confirmation at 20 weeks. I like the idea of keeping it a secret but I think people will think I'm prickly if I say "we know but won't tell". Also our girls are desperate to find out and once they know EVERYONE will know!

ArtigeneAuberchoke · 08/12/2012 18:15

X-post Beut. Sorry you are feeling crappy and had a scare. Maybe indulge in a take away and some crappy Saturday night telly.

Seven - with DD1 I was convinced she was a boy. With DD2 I was less sure but thought maybe boy. So much for mother's intuition!

Picklep · 08/12/2012 18:35

beaut sorry you're so poorly, snuggle up tonight with a christmas film. What the hell is 'slapped cheek'? Never heard of this.

berri · 08/12/2012 18:51

Beaut that sounds terrible, poor you. Hope it's just a nasty cold and you'll be over the worst of it now. Are you able to have a nice relaxing weekend with your feet up?

Geek I've heard great things about Relate - I think if you can do it, definitely do - good timing now as well before things get too busy with the baby arriving.

I've officially switched to a new doc now, I thought I'd got away with switching without them interrogating me as to why, but then I got an arsy phonecall yesterday afternoon which took me by surprise! I suppose over here in the USA they just want the money, so try to keep hold of you. Luckily I'd written down all the things I wasn't too happy about, so I could rattle that off so she couldn't argue too much with me.

First appointment with the new (very highly recommended!!) lady on Wednesday, which will also be the 20 week scan. Eeek! Xmas Shock
