New thread for June 2013 :)

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Anothercerealnamechanger · 14/11/2012 13:42

spiderlight after a certain point pg tests are not reliable as the levels of HCG are too high for the pg test to measure them.

I only booked in at 9+2 (or 6 depending on whose dates you believe)

CuriosityCola · 14/11/2012 15:06

spiderlight my booking in appointment isn't until I'm 12 weeks. How many weeks are you now?

suzyrut · 14/11/2012 16:03

Hi spiderlight we must have the same doctors!! My booking in isn't until 12 weeks with scan a few days after because they forgot to send forms, happened to be at the hospital for an early pregnancy scan (which my doctor had sent me to without referring me properly) and I ended up doing it myself at the maternity unit reception!

Just not sure a lot of doctors are really clued up about pregnancy and the process, when I was worried about disappearing symptoms she said "oh in my second pregnancy I didn't have any symptoms"...yeah except I came in for a medical opinion not a chat about what your pregancies were like (sorry ranty pregnancy hormones got the better of me there for a second!!)

pinkapples · 14/11/2012 19:16

Omg am now mega freaked out mrs... I don't want a fat baby! Or an obese child Sad will defo start the veggies I already eat salad every day for dinner (except for takeaways) but will defo easy up on the crisps and sweeties Grin

CollectorOfCookbooks · 14/11/2012 20:32

Wow, hadn't realised there was a new thread!

I've posted in pregnancy but not had any responses and I'm starting to flap a bit. I'm 9w+4, due June 15th.

Sorry for TMI.

Have quite a lot of CM at present, and it's suddenly turned brownish. Not bleeding, but enough for me to feel the CM like the start of a period if you know what I mean.

Not sure whether to call midwife or NHS or if that's way overkill - I mean, there really isn't much when I wipe, it's the colour which is alarming me. DH is away with work, and I suppose I have been doing a bit too much, and I've had a horrid cold which hasn't helped.

Any advice? I just want to cry, which isn't going to help but might make me feel a bit better.

If I get through this I promise to start eating more salad and fruit!

fishface2 · 14/11/2012 20:38

Call someone collector. Not because I think it sounds alarming but just to put your mind at rest. I'm not sure what it means but I'd want to know. Lots of love x

CollectorOfCookbooks · 14/11/2012 20:58

Thanks Fishface. Will do.

RueDeWakening · 14/11/2012 21:04

Mummy I don't think group b strep tests are reliable this far out - from what I remember they may test at 36 weeks (ish) if you have history that indicates it's necessary, but don't do them as standard. I tested positive for it after DS was born, since he was on preventative anti-bs in nicu anyway they just continued those for a full week post-birth. This time round I don't know what will happen, does anyone know if gbs can still be a factor with csections? I know for normal labours they like to give IV anti-bs for a certain length of time before delivery, can't remember how long though.

LadyFlumpalot · 14/11/2012 21:04

Call someone Collector Please.

CuriosityCola · 14/11/2012 21:05

Do you have any pain or cramps collector? Many people have bleeding in the first trimester (think it's almost 50%), so try and not to worry. I would call your midwife anyway. Now go and put your feet up and take it easy for a while.

CollectorOfCookbooks · 14/11/2012 21:19

I've put a call in and am waiting for a callback. I have what I'd call 'niggles' rather than cramps - not in pain as such - but I think one of the reasons I'm so worried is that in the last few days my MS has really eased off, and my breasts aren't so sore.

Thanks for the support. I'll let you know.

I'm sorry about your loss, Lady x

CuriosityCola · 14/11/2012 21:23

Glad you phoned. Do you have someone with you?

You are around the stage where your symptoms could be improving anyway. I think everyones posts on here shows there is no rules to pregnancy symptoms. Try and take things as easy as possible.

AlohaMama · 14/11/2012 22:53

Afternoon ladies. Went to the ob this morning for first appointment and she was called away for 2 deliveries so having spent 2 hours off work, I know have to go back tomorrow. The only thing her nurse said was that the pregnancy test line was faint. Not sure what that means really. Either I'm pregnant or the constant sickness, bulging tummy and growing boobs are figments of my imagination Confused.

Trying my best to ignore all your virtuous comments about eating fruit and veg. I think I will stick to my carb-based diet for the moment, till I can look a vegetable in the eye!

CollectorOfCookbooks · 15/11/2012 06:25

Morning all

Thanks for your virtual hand holding last night, it really helped. Midwife rang back and was great, very reassuring, and she thinks it sounds like old blood coming away from cervical erosion. Said to keep an eye on it and if it gets any worse then to call back or go in to EPU and that I should take things a bit easier.

Managed to get some sleep and whilst the niggles are still there the bleeding has eased off.

Roll on that scan at the start of December! Thanks again

SecretSparkle · 15/11/2012 06:41

aloha my eating shall remain carb rich while vomiting is a key part of my day!!

collector glad you feel better, has the bleeding stopped?

I woke up this morning feeling rather good, and thinking maybe things have calmed down a bit! But then it hit me and I spent 20 mins spewing!!! My fingers are so tightly crossed that I hit the magic 12 and the sickness goes (3 weeks and counting)

PseudoBadger · 15/11/2012 08:14

Magic 12? doesn't want to mention it was more like 16 weeks last time :(

OP posts:
SecretSparkle · 15/11/2012 08:22

Badger I refuse to acknowledge that information!! It says in my book that most women start to feel better after 12 weeks!! That's what I'm aiming for, if I can just retain my sanity for 3 more weeks!!

DontmindifIdo · 15/11/2012 08:31

hi all, collector, if you're really not happy, call back the midwife and ask if you can go for a scan. There's not point being brave, make a fuss, however IIRC it's bright red blood that you should worry about, brown blood is "old" blood.

I rather embarrassingly fainted on the train yesterday, not great. Ended up telling another mum of what of the boys at DS's nursery that I'm pregnant as she was in the same carriage. when can we get those "baby on board" badges to get a seat?

Have others got their scan dates through yet? I'm 10 weeks tomorrow, you'd think they'd have sent it by now. Might give them until tomorrow then call to see if I'm on the list.

Sunbeam18 · 15/11/2012 08:45

Collector, glad things seem better this morning. Last night must have been scary.
I had my early scan last night and it was amazing! There is actually a baby in there!!! We saw heartbeat and kicking legs and waving arms at 8+6. hard to believe! Feel so relieved.

CuriosityCola · 15/11/2012 09:19

Badger I was sick right through last time. Was even puking during labour. Still aiming for 12 weeks this time Grin

CollectorOfCookbooks · 15/11/2012 10:15

Yes, the bleeding has eased right off, but it's still a coming through a little bit - but I feel much better, and whilst I'm still a bit niggly it's not crampy anymore, I've stopped catching my breath with it if you see what I mean. I'm knicker checking every hour!

I've a scan on 5th December - but don't worry, if it starts up again I will make a fuss! Last night was pretty scary Sunbeam, also it really brought it home to me that DH has just started a contract working away 3 days a week and that I don't want to worry him, but at the same time I wanted him, and he's going to be 5 days a week away from February... Your scan sounds amazing, can't wait for mine.

Hope you're feeling better Don'tMind, I was on the tube on Tuesday and really struggled, was fine once I got a seat but for a while I thought I was going to keel over!

MrsJLS85 · 15/11/2012 10:59

just had my 12 week scan (they dated me 11 + 5). Am SOOO happy! Was lovely to see the little one in there, wiggling away.
Am desperate for MS to ease off but last time it didn't til around 14-16 weeks. Will just have to hang in there a few more weeks.

Collector glad the bleeding has eased off, take it easy and rest.

Aloha what a shame you have to return again today, but hopefully you have a nice appt with the midwife this time. Did she explain why the faint +?

suzyrut · 15/11/2012 11:33

Congrats on your scans mrs and sunbeam how lovely for you both.

collector glad to hear you're feeling better.

and good luck to day aloha hope everything goes well, second time lucky.

olimoss · 15/11/2012 11:59

Collector hope all stays well with you from now on, fingers crossed.

Nice to hear the scans news, is exciting. Mine's next Wednesday - am expecting it to be scary/weird/exciting/OMG-ing all at the same time.

Just had a call from my midwife so say my urine was tested and they have found evidence of a UTI - I have no real symptoms at all, unless it's the weeing all the time I do, but I figured that was just cause I drink a lot of water at the moment! Anyway I have to now go collect some antibiotics from the GP to take. I have so assiduously avoided any medicine this whole time (am 11+3) that it seems a bit urgh to take it now. Still, I suppose I must.

grainmum · 15/11/2012 15:26

olimoss our scans will be same day - just received a letter from hospital today changing mine from 26th to 21st. Exciting, scared, but really pleased that DH has been able to swap his day of annual leave.
