Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Hello all. Welcome to the newbies and great news on all the good scans. Another good one to report here today. Little wriggler was sucking it's thumb. Wouldn't play ball for nuchal measurements, so had to wiggle my bum around to try to get the little tinker to move positions!

Got another scan in 3 weeks on 28th Dec to check my cervix is not weakening (possible reason for mc in June at 20 weeks) and got to use vaginal antibiotics for a week to ensure no infection (also possible cause of last mc!!) and then got 20 week scan booked for 25th Jan.

Telling everyone at work on Monday although my belly has probably given the game away already! Xmas Blush

spiderlight · 07/12/2012 22:08

It's all over. Been bleeding heavily for the past few hours :( I don't know what happens now - should I ring the early pregancy unit? I guess I'll need a scan to confirm but I don't know if I can face the wait for the one I've got booked on Thursday.

forgetmenots · 07/12/2012 22:19

Oh spiderlight - ring the unit, waiting til Thursday isn't on.

I still hope all is okay, please call someone :(

DontmindifIdo · 07/12/2012 22:20

oh spiderlight, I'm so sorry. When I had my miscarriage, I also started bleeding, I called the midwife, who then referred me to the emergancy gyny, they booked me in for a scan that day (which was carried out in a different part of the hospital than the normal scans). You won't be left to wait until Thursday. If you can't get your midwife tomorrow, call the hospital and ask for the emergancy gyny department. Failing all that, present at A&E.

spiderlight · 07/12/2012 22:32

I will. Can't do anything tonight - 5yo is sleeping upstairs and DH is out at a retirement party and not answering his phone. I'll ring tomorrow though and see if they can see me on Monday. I don't want to go in over the weekend because my little boy doesn't know and we don't want him to - it would only upset him. We'd been waiting until after the scan. I'll ring them in the morning though and try to get booked in for Monday. There's nothing they can do at this stage anyway - the baby was only measuring at 5mm/five weeks on Tuesday.

Sleep tight, little Rowan berry xx

forgetmenots · 07/12/2012 22:39

so sorry spider I just realised it was you who posted, worried about your scan a few days ago. I hope your DH picks up his phone soon, don't like the thought of you on your own (MN aside)

AlohaMama · 07/12/2012 22:54

Oh spider so sorry. I hope you can get seen soon, to at least put your mind at rest. Hope all goes well.

Sunbeam18 · 07/12/2012 23:07

Sending good vibes and hope to you, Spider. I have everything crossed for you xx

Little9 · 08/12/2012 08:42

So sorry Spider. Hope you get sorted soon. xx

Fidget275 · 08/12/2012 10:21

Thinking of you spider xxxx

SparklySanta · 08/12/2012 17:12

Oh spider I hope everything ok, thinking if you xxx

redwellybluewelly · 08/12/2012 22:26

I'm so sorry spider

We were almost outed today at our family
Christmas gathering, DD (2.5 and pretty much non verbal) when asked how she was pointed at my tummy and said "baby" Hmm

AlohaMama · 09/12/2012 04:15

nice redwelly - you can always guarantee they'll speak up just when you don't want them too!

SparklySanta · 09/12/2012 09:10

My niece once asked if I had a baby in my belly, unfortunately I was just fat!! Now I've avoided seeing them for weeks in case the little monkey notices!!

Sarah2506 · 09/12/2012 09:21

Morning! I am so annoyed that having finally left MS behind I now have a stinking cold! Today we are going to see DHs family and let them know about the baby- I have FIVE sisters in law, all have kids, all will be FULL of 'helpful' advice and I don't want to do anything that involves moving away from the sofa, Strictly and the X factor:-) I'm missing my day nurse and night nurse big time. Paraceetamol just not the same. Don't think there is anything else I can take??

Also, question for second timers- when did you have the next scan exactly? We are away from week 18 until 20.5 weeks. Should I look to have it before or am I ok to wait? Does it have to be between 18 and 20 weeks?

Little9 · 09/12/2012 10:16

Morning Sarah. I too seem to be developing a cold, nice! I didn't quite get to the 20 week scan last time as waters broke a few days before. However, I would suggest that you are ok to try and get one booked for when you get back as you'll only be about 21 weeks. I think they just check that there are no anomaly's at that scan, i.e. checking that all the organs, limbs, etc have developed ok. You may be best to check with your midwife or the hospital if you want to be sure.

LittlemissChristmas · 09/12/2012 10:25

Morning Smile
I too have had a cold and was advised to take nothing more than paracetamol. Menthol crystals in a bowl good to relieve the blocked up feeling, and hot water with honey and lemon good for cough or sore throat or gargle yucky salty water but that's about it.
Opposite here, I've told both my SiLs and haven't heard from them since!!
Regarding 20 week scan I'm not sure, my hospital are doing mine at just 19 weeks as I'm away 20-21 but I'm sure wether its before or after your hol you will be fine

DontmindifIdo · 09/12/2012 11:31

Sarah - paracetamol and lots and lots of water.

The next scan is at 20 weeks, but you can do it up to 22 weeks (I think), so just tell your midwife, they'll probably try to fit you in as soon as you are back.

You should see your midwife around 16 weeks as well so you can discuss it then.

RueDeWakening · 09/12/2012 18:40

I've got a cold as well, bah. You can have honey & glycerine cough mix as there's no active ingredient, also olbas pastilles & oil are both ok to use. I did get given junior sudafed last time round, which helped with breathing etc but I don't know how recommended it is - got it from a pharmacist after a really long chat with him. Think halls soothers are ok too.

Sarah2506 · 09/12/2012 20:29

Thanks guys! One thing that is really annoying is that pharmacists and doctors and everyone else seem to contradict themselves. DH went to chemist and asked what was ok and was given something with a decongestant in. My doctor said take nytol if desperate, midwife said no way, google says everything depending on which country you are in etc. it's so confusing!!

SparklySanta · 09/12/2012 20:36

Oh my I wander if its a pregnancy thing?! Cus I can feel a cold starting to brew as well!!

redwellybluewelly · 09/12/2012 21:00

Actually yes, when pg your immune system is depressed so that you don't reject the baby. Its grim being ill and pg.

I had bronchitis at 13weeks last time, I was extremely ill and DH had to take time off to look after me. All I could take was honey & lemon and paracetamol, after a week I was given ABs.

I have started with a sniffle today - my 1000mg of Vit C clearly hasn;t been as effective as I'd have liked!

pinkapples · 10/12/2012 06:27

Awww hope everyone starts feeling better soon
I'm not sick for a change as by now I'd normally have had a flurry of coughs colds etc just waiting on my scan letter and apt with midwife next Monday x second timers what to expect at the 15/16 week apt?

MrsBri · 10/12/2012 07:44

I've got a bit of a cold, but have been snuffly since implantation, so I'm used to it now.

Still feeling nauseous / dry retching, but have more good days than bad, so it's getting better.

Scan tomorrow. Scared and excited.

Going home to tell my parents on Saturday, then going full on public at Christmas. :-)

LittlemissChristmas · 10/12/2012 09:32

Has anyone found anything helps with a runny nose? It's not stopped all morning!
