I work for TfL and you should be able to pick up the badge at any underground ticket desk. I had to start wearing one as got rather crushed on a train one morning when the train in front of ours was cancelled and everyone got on ours and someone rested their rucksack on my bump (been showing rather early with this one). Ended up having a panic attack and fainting at London Bridge. It doesn't always get me a seat but people at least keep out of my personal space a bit more.

olimoss · 27/11/2012 15:37

ChicaT - yes I think I probably will too - it was just I was taken aback as not expecting it but suppose combination of my mardy morning-sickness face and the not-too-flattering dress was a winner....

The contract I'm on at the moment I have to catch a bus, an overground and a rail train and it's a bit of a mission - any seat is a good seat.

I emailed that Tfl address and they responded immediately, sending one out to my home address.

Got my scan a week today!! Grin

Webminx, I'm so glad everything's OK Smile

arlandria666 · 27/11/2012 17:35

everything went well with my scan got a right little wriggle bum! also stubborn as it was lay on its tummy with its legs crossed kept flapping its legs and moving around but not over! i saw its mouth opening too amazing but scan pictures aren't great even tho what we saw on the screen was :-) Will try and relax a little now x x good luck with scans x x

MrsBri · 27/11/2012 18:33

That's great, Arlandria :-) How exciting!

I still have 2 weeks yet.

And pregnancy, so far, is soooo glamorous, Don'tmind, ha ha!!

webminx · 27/11/2012 19:08

Great news on the scan, arlandria!
Think I'll crack out my BoB badge tomorrow morning - feel like I can now! I had to tell work today as needed to explain my absence since Thursday. They were v pleased for me so fingers crossed they'll continue to feel positive about it when I start eating all the meeting-room biscuits and hogging the loo half the day ;-)
Hope all is well with everyone...

Hi all and thanks again for the good wishes, unfortunately they couldn't do the cvs yesterday as my bowel was covering the top of the uterus where the placenta is and there was a chance that if they did the procedure they'd puncture my bowel which is supposed to be very nasty. I burst into tears when they told me as I now have another agonising week to wait before they will try to repeat it. I begged them to try again on the Monday rather than waiting till the tuesday so i will be guaranteed to have the results by the end of next week if they can do it. If they can't then I'll have to wait a further week for an amino! Can't say nice enough things about the hospital staff though they were all very lovely which has made it all just about manageable!

Fortunately I have a very understanding boss and dp and I are still taking today off but instead of planned recovery we're going to go for lovely lunch and do some Christmas shopping.

Congrats on great scan news, it's lovely to hear things are going well xx

Dillydollydaydream · 28/11/2012 10:55

Sorry to hear you need to wait again for the CVS. Must be awful having to wait when you thought you'd be getting answers soon. Try to enjoy your lunch with dh shopping trip.

spiderlight · 28/11/2012 13:40

Sorry you've got even longer to wait, Suzy, but you really do not want a punctured bowel!

CuriosityCola · 28/11/2012 19:41

How frustrating Suzy. I hope this week passes quickly for you.

I had my booking in appointment today. Lots of questions, but pretty uneventful. No listening for heartbeat as it is too early at the booking in appointment (not convinced if you are nearly 12 weeks!). Did anyone else get to hear it? Very lucky though as my midwife and trainee midwife are really lovely.

Had a really strange day today with no sickness. Not sure whether to celebrate or if its a weird one off. Smile

MrsBri · 28/11/2012 19:50

Glad it went well, Cola.

Maybe they prefer to wait until after the scan, just in case?

pinkapples · 28/11/2012 20:37

No I didn't hear mine either and didn't hear it at the scan as apparently I have a anterior placenta? Anyone else had a scan and had this written in their notes? She didn't even mention hearing it but said it was a nice strong heartbeat but I read that an anterior placenta can make it harder to hear? Anyone know?

CuriosityCola · 28/11/2012 21:09

pinkapples that sounds right and you will probably find that it's harder to feel kicks as well. Your kicks will probably come later. The placenta kind of cushions everything in that position. I used to have a link to a great website that discussed placenta positioning and the effect (not negative) on pregnancy and labour. Will try to find it. I researched loads last time as it looked like my placenta was going to be low lying. A scan at 38ish weeks showed it had moved as the uterus grew. Our bodies are amazing aren't they?

Mrs Bri I think it's to stop people panicking if they can't find it. I'm just sure I had it last time (and I'm impatientGrin).

CuriosityCola · 28/11/2012 21:10

I'm guessing you know anterior means its at the front.

HistoryKitty · 28/11/2012 21:31

Hi pinkapples,
I had an anterior placenta with my DD, I first felt movements at 18 weeks, which is about right I think as she was my first. The movements felt pretty noticeable to me, but then I had nothing to compare it to.

Also didn't have much trouble finding the heartbeat, I bought a home doppler as I had a placental hemorrhage at 13 weeks (nothing to do with its position) and used it for reassurance as I was bleeding for about a month after. Always heard the heartbeat clearly and also got to hear the 'whooshing' of the placenta working, so the fact it was at the front didn't cause any problems.

MrsBri · 28/11/2012 21:50

The last thing they need is a pregnant lady in freak out mode at the booking in appointment due to a lack of discernible heartbeat. I don't want my midwife to offer. I'd rather wait for the scan 3 days later!

But I'm a scaredy cat anyway :-/

CuriosityCola · 28/11/2012 21:54

Much more sensible than me MrsBri. Smile

MrsBri · 28/11/2012 21:58

Just concerned, I think.

Daft really, as I've seen the baby and heartbeat on my private scan at 8 weeks. Maybe I'll relax more next time as I'll know what twinges are normal!

redwellybluewelly · 28/11/2012 22:15

Does anyone know if you buy items from the mamasandpapas website whether you can return them in store? I am having issues finding out, thank you

PseudoBadger · 28/11/2012 22:21

Hi everyone, sorry I haven't been around for a while. Well I'm 11+4 and feeling fantastic! This is nothing like my first pregnancy thank god. Sickness and bizarre hunger disappeared at the weekend, and although I'm still prone to tiredness in general I feel great.
I am slightly worried as I still haven't had a scan (10th Dec) and I've kind of forgotten about being pg as I'm just so busy, but I've really just put it out of my mind.

I thought I was doing OK the last week or two, but today I had a two hour nap when DS slept after lunch Shock - only just woke up in time for the school run too! Will set an alarm on my phone from now on, I think :o

Sams4lo · 29/11/2012 07:31

Morning
How's everyone feeling?
Went for scan yesterday and had EDD moved forward to 3rd June :) baby is very active, and camera shy lol feel like a weight has been lifted, now just to see consultant Tuesday to find out how early a planned section they want to do, given dc4s surprise arrival at 34wks! Midwife thinks I will be admitted after 28 weeks, so def need a plan in place for my own peace of mind :(

MrsBri · 29/11/2012 09:03

Badger, I'm feeling better today too. It worries me a bit!

10+4 though, so I suppose it's about right.

SunnyL · 29/11/2012 10:40

Got my booking appointment tomorrow. Got an inkling I might have a UTI so it will be good to get that test done. I'm 11 weeks tomorrow but I would have had my appointment earlier if I hadn't been swanning around the world with work for the last two weeks. Scan is on the 5th so looks like I'll be telling work on the 6th.

grainmum · 29/11/2012 12:10

Just had my dating scan and a week further on than I thought - EDD now 4th June, 13+2 today. Getting excited now - next step is starting to tell people! Seeing my parents on Saturday so will tell them then, and trying to work out where in Glasgow city centre my Mum and I can go to look at maternity wear. I know on-line has more selection and I think e-bay will be my friend, but it would be nice to go and see some things in "real life" - also want to hold out as long as possible as I don't want to have to buy several different sets of things...

Hope everyone else is doing well.
