They woman said if we can control it with diet (if I have it of course) then they won't let me go over 40 wks. If I have to have any medication then it will be 38 wks. I'm 34+3 now! growth scan sounds good though! Lol oh the joys. Right off to the dentist! What a fun packed day!

WeeJo08 · 07/11/2012 09:05

Sorry for posting again so quickly but have a quick question. My ankles were quite swollen last night but I put it down to walking around yesterday - here still swollen this morning and that was first thing when I got out of bed. Is this normal?

SpottyTeacakes · 07/11/2012 09:07

WeeJo I always think if they're down in the morning then it's fine so if they're not I would give the mw a ring

FriendofDorothy · 07/11/2012 09:15

Group B strep is offered as standard where I am. I have a midwife appointmetn in 2 weeks when I will be 36 weeks pregnant and they do it then.

emilyeggs · 07/11/2012 09:16

wejo I'm also worried, I had one foot more swollen that the other last night and it still looks puffy to me this morning! It's not massive but I can tell as I know my own feet

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 07/11/2012 09:22

I'm with spotty if they go down overnight I think it's fine if not ring the midwife. Esp if you have a headache or anything too.

EggsMichelle · 07/11/2012 09:29

Oh dear, yesterday was not a good day, hope everyone has a better day today. I must finish one of my big jobs today, I've been off work for 2wks and only done one of my big nesting jobs (oops) so today I will finish knitting my niece's blanket.

DH is away until Friday, so I have three days of guilt free pj days and being as lazy as possible!

Walnut8 · 07/11/2012 09:31

Hope the dentist goes okay stacey.

Thanks for that jojo! Do they just hook you up to an IV for a few minutes for the ABs or is it an hour or so? I was imagining I might have to have a drip in from the minute my waters broke!

I was told that my doctor does a strep test anyway at 37 weeks. Also told that up to 40% of women have it (symptomless) so pretty common and will need antibiotics once labour starts but just to protect the baby, doesn't cause any problems with the mother herself. I do remember when I had DD (in London) I requested a test from my MW as my friend tested positive when pregnant and was talking about it (should have listened more carefully!). It wasnt standard. It came back clear though so I didn't have anything further.

I had a swollen foot last time and the MW kept a close eye on it but it was just an old injury swelling I think.

ISpyPlumPie · 07/11/2012 10:05

Morning everyone,

Sorry to hear that so many of you had a bad time yesterday. Hope today is a better one.

Just waiting in for the mw at the mo - she's doing my home birth assessment visit. Think it's just to check there's enough space/access to power points etc but didn't stop me doing frantic cleaning anyway. Also need to check with her I've gathered all the bits and pieces I need, as well as asking whether they can lend me a pool. If not, think this afternoon will be spent frantically trying to arrange one - still can't get my head round the fact that from Tue next week I'm considered 'term' from a hb pov so need to have everything sorted.

SpottyTeacakes · 07/11/2012 10:10

Exciting ISpy!

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 07/11/2012 10:17

Right top tip ladies laying in a dentist chair for 25 minutes is likely to make you faint!

SpottyTeacakes · 07/11/2012 10:18

Oh yes, I was sick when I last did that pregnant with dd! Poor dentist had to hold my hair back! Your dentist really should have known that Stacey and done it sitting up Hmm

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 07/11/2012 10:47

He did it sitting up after I fainted, with a pillow behind my head and a fan on me, then wouldn't let me leave for about 20 mins. I've had the dizzy horrible stuff a lot through this pregnancy, hot sweaty, have to sit down right then (in the middle of shopping malls/in the woods while dog walking. That wouldn't be to do with blood sugar would it? Never thought of it before but my brain is adding 2 and 2 and probably getting 5.

SpottyTeacakes · 07/11/2012 11:05

That could well be a sign of your sugar level going too low it's different for everyone but I get hot/sweaty/irritable/dizzy.

My belly button is really sore and also feels bruised Sad

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 07/11/2012 11:20

And what exactly have you been doing to your belly button? Lol is baby kicking round there?

I get a bruised feeling after my funny pins and needles at the top of bump, but that's apparantly baby laying on a nerve. Hmm

EggsMichelle · 07/11/2012 11:28

I think I'll stay away from the dentist for now, wait until the Shrimp is not squashing my veins! I have a bruised feeling belly button too, it's hideous and covered in stretch marks, I blame my silly piercing.

JoJoB77 · 07/11/2012 11:37

walnut i think it did take half hour/an hour or so to have each dose Smile

Well i'm back from midwife and i have traces of leuc and blood Confused. That could explain my pains as baby is still free from my pelvis although is head down. Ive just bought some cranberry juice so going to drink loads of it today in the hope if helps flush any baddies out and then see what sample cones back with.

Hope everyone has better days today Smile

ISpyPlumPie · 07/11/2012 11:47

That sounds traumatic Stacey - hope you have a well-earned rest this afternoon.

MW has just left. Everything is fine - head is quite far down (brim rather than engaged though) so not imagining the pressure I've been feeling. All looking good for a hb if LO hangs on until Tuesday.

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 07/11/2012 12:00

Oh ispy that sounds good! Glad you should be getting the birth you want. I'm heading to bed for the afternoon! :)

Walnut8 · 07/11/2012 12:18

Thanks for that JoJo. Did you have to go into hospital for the ABs as soon as you started getting contractions? Am slightly worried about being a couple of hours away from hospital at a wedding this weekend (staying the night at the hotel) but will only be 36 weeks so unlikely anything will happen. BTW loads and loads of water supposed to be just as good as flushing out UTIs. Hope all okay though.

Hope you have a good rest stacey.

Eggs I have an old navel piercing and its all red and stretched and awful! Stretch marks this time around have been generally much much worse than with DD though. Oh well, what can you do. Many worse things could happen!

great news Ispy.

SpottyTeacakes · 07/11/2012 12:20

Great news ISpy

I feel ill today, really tired and sick with added heartburn Sad I think my belly button is sore where the skin that is usually tucked away is rubbing on my tops and stuff, not sure about the bruised feeling but it's mainly around old stretchmarks which are/were quite bad where my belly button was pierced!

EggsMichelle · 07/11/2012 12:42

Everyone warned against getting tattoos on the belly, but no one warned me about the navel piercing, I don't think I would have had it done off I had known the mess it would make. Oh well, if I ever have a daughter I can warn her!

ISpy you will have to keep your legs firmly clamped together until Tuesday.

SpottyTeacakes · 07/11/2012 12:45

It's OK Eggs it doesn't look so bad after, mine has closed up now anyway and I still wore a bikini on holiday Grin

HoneyMum21 · 07/11/2012 12:49

Dash is coming home today :) sorry, will catch up on all the reading later but am so excited!

SpottyTeacakes · 07/11/2012 12:57

WOW!!! He must be doing really well Honey! So pleased for you, it's the best feeling ever :)
