Sorry for the not very imaginative title. Noticed old thread was full and couldn't find a new one.

OP posts:

Oh wow Wirra that is so exciting you have found out the sex already! We have to wait til 23 weeks (after Christmas) and I am itching to know.

Loving the happy news for you too Pear :)

14+5

MaybeAMayBaby · 07/11/2012 18:47

Beaut, thank you do much for posting about still baby on scan. I was also worrying at everyone's stories of wrigglers. I tried to ask my sonographer for reassurance but she was rubbish. Thanks everyone for putting my mind at rest.
Wow at finding out the sex, W! How many weeks are you?
Little, like you our scan is on the 8th of Jan and I'll be 21 weeks I think. I'm tempted to have a private scan done before Xmas. Was hoping for 3D one? Anyone had one before 20 weeks? A lot of what I'm reading tends to say after this time is best. Don't want it to be a waste of time. I think I've found one clinic that do the gender scan before 20 weeks and throw the 4D bit in for free (but I may have misinterpreted that!). Im worried DH will be away on the 8th and would love to have one before so I'm not worried sick.

Good luck for scans this week x

MammaBrussels · 07/11/2012 18:56

Maybe, over here you have a scan every time you see your Dr (about once a month). I know a skinny minnie that found out the sex at 15 weeks, but 16/17 weeks seems to be the norm. It may depend on whether the baby's being cooperative. DS basically sat on the probe - even I could tell those little white orbs meant I was having a boy. Grin

My next scan in Nov 30th. I'll be 16 weeks & OB says he'll be able to sex the foetus then.

shelly81 · 07/11/2012 19:26

and it is a boy wirra! wow wheee! how far on are you?!

am also thinking I might nip in for a private gender scan before xmas as I doubt my scan appt will be before then, would be lovely to know by chrimbly!

mwncigirl · 07/11/2012 20:04

Has anyone paid for a private nuchal scan? We don't get offered them here in north Wales, I'm 38 and the DS risk is high because of my age. Starting to panic now. Anyone know how much it might cost to go private?

MaybeAMayBaby · 07/11/2012 21:22

Mwncigirl-have you tried a google search? For your area I mean? I'm anxious about mine on Tuesday, but I'm trying to tell myself I wasnt even offered it wast time.
Ladies who've posted their nuchal measurements above-you mean mm not cm? I'm confused after looking into it this evening.

Also. Anyone looked at their scan photos and tried to find the 'nub'? I can't even find one on ours Confused. But it was only at 11+1. I'm hoping to spot something at 13+1 next week! I've just spent nearly an hour looking! So bloody daft.

LittlePickleHead · 07/11/2012 21:37

What's a nub?

ProcrastinatingPanda · 07/11/2012 22:42

As soon as I get my scan maybe I'm going to check out the nub theory and see if it works.

Sparklyboots · 07/11/2012 22:47

Yay, we are scanned! We are in the wriggling camp - so different from DS who was a bit still during scans. This has not continued, he may be the wriggliest boy on the planet. Anyway, the sonographer was great - gave us three free photos, inc. one with the baby apparently waving. But, we got a nuchal measurement that she totally refused to comment on - 2.1 which I think is okay? It's low range of normal, is that owt to concern myself with?

Scooby we covered my first mat leave with an unsecured personal loan, which I secured while I was at work. No one asked if I was pregnant, and I didn't disclose. How feasible is it to get a loan for the mortgage payments plus loan payments for a year? Obvs, you're still paying when you go back to work but we have sorted that by getting the outstanding balance on the loan from the equity in the house after returning to work, no change to the mortgage payments but we are paying for longer - def worth it. Thinking about taking some equity to cover this mat leave...

Rachy a difficult scan? I've heard stories of sonographers being totally blase about what are essentially life or death announcements, you'd think they'd get better training? Hope your next one is lovely

Dates have moved, must get round to changing the stats thread... Love to all xx

Bunnychan · 07/11/2012 23:01

Roll on friday for my scan.!

I can't sleep- I've got the worst belly ache (it feels like mega trapped wind pain but isn't moving-sorry tmi!) and it's making me feel yucky. Could it be indigestion? Its horrid x

Bunnychan · 08/11/2012 01:49

To answer my own question, think its a stomach bug! I have been so violently sick tonight! Do you think my lo is ok? X

peardrop2 · 08/11/2012 06:10

Bunny I would call the GP or Midwife today if you continue to be sick. For your peace of mind. If its a bug they might just want to check you out?

ProcrastinatingPanda · 08/11/2012 07:22

I had a stomach bug last week bunny and was violently sick all day and night. The midwife said the baby would be fine, just try and drink plenty of water, even if you're just throwing it back up again it will still help.

TerracottaPie · 08/11/2012 09:44

Morning all.

All this scan news is great to hear about. I'd love another just because but I'm happy waiting it's only 5 weeks and 6 days away. I refuse to round that up to 6 weeks!

And poor bug people :( as if MS isn't bad enough. Glad you're better panda and get well soon bunny :)

Anyone else starting to get very intolerant of...well everything? I noticed last time how much more people pissed me off and it's started again already. Pregnancy rage. Super stuff.

This morning there were builders building a wall on the path we walk on to school. They'd blocked it off with tape but hadn't left an alternative pedestrian route so I was chuntering as I walked up. One asked 'shall I undo it for you?' meaning the tape and I said 'er, yes' in a sarcastic way and then went on about how ridiculous it was to block the pavement and expect school kids to walk in the road. He hadn't caught up with me by the time I reached the other piece of tape so I just ripped it down Blush. I'm usually so non confrontational but it seems to leap out of me in situations like that when I'm pregnant. Luckily (?) it seems to only be strangers and not DP or the DCs that get it. God I sound unhinged don't I?

Only 25 weeks and 5 days left for the poor general public Grin

Picklep · 08/11/2012 10:02

Worst nights sleep ever! Been in agony. Turns out i have sciatica! Mw says it's quite a common complaint for pg women. Ive never known pain like it! Im on bed rest, mw has referred me for physio. Anyone else had this?

terror i have the rage! You're not alone.

wilderumpus · 08/11/2012 10:42

terror I have the rage! I get confrontational too, is really, really weird.

aw bunny I had food poisoning for 24 hours a couple of weeks ago, was awful. DH got me some rehydration sachets which were great and I just made myself sip water a lot. hope you are ok.

poor you pickle. is there owt you can do?

congrats on your scan sparkly, great stuff.

Bunnychan · 08/11/2012 11:38

Well, I'm keeping water down now. I have the worst stomach ache so
I'm waiting for my gp to phone me. This is pay back for not having ms x

Picklep · 08/11/2012 11:42

Sorry terra for calling you terror!!! Doh.

peardrop2 · 08/11/2012 12:22

Ahh I have random rage too Tera and well done Bunny for speaking to GP! Hope you feel better soon.

Thank you to the lady who replied about my question on baby shows and discount!

Very nearly lunch time...phew!

MooLL · 08/11/2012 12:37

Hi all - lovely to hear all the scan stoires ... I had my nucal yesterday ...Fetal Medicine centre and was fab - spent about an hour looking at mini-me ... very cute .... all results came back good which was a huge relief ... and now have gone public which is equally a relief not to lie anymore (or need to suck in my tummy at work)!! Our sonographer asked if we were going to dfind out the sex and asked if we wanted to know now ... OMG was not expecting that and said no as we want to leave it as a christmas suprise with the 20 week scan ... so relieved that it all was fine and fingers crossed for all of you who are either awaiting your scan or awaiting blood tests following inconclusive nucals x

Wirrawoo · 08/11/2012 12:40

Sorry to hear about the stomach bugs and sciatica :( hope you feel better soon.
Yeah we were pretty amazed that she was able to tell the sex already, I'm 14+5, she did say that she'll check again at my next scan as sometimes this early looks can be deceiving but that it looked like there was a definite, er, male appendage sticking out in there :) she seemed very sure.
Hey that was interesting about personal loans to cover maternity leave etc. I'm self-employed and will have to be without any income at all for at least 3 months probably. We're in the process of sorting out our first mortgage at the moment so might see what could be done there. Thanks for the tips!

So glad the rage is dong the rounds with the rest of you too Grin.

picklep poor you :( that sounds horrible! Hope it doesn't last too too long for you. And I feel like I was a terror earlier so don't worry!

More lovely scan news :)

MooLL an hour! Sounds like it was a lovely experience.

And 10 that's a bit rubbish especially as they said they're not certain about it! But love the yoga postion description!

As crap as being put back a week is I know I'd take that over being put forward a week. Which sounds daft but for DC3 I was put forward a week on my dating scan despite me being very sure of when I ovulated and dtd. I knew it would come back and bite me in the bum the other end and sure enough I went overdue and they induced me and I didn't get my homebirth. I still think even now I was only 41 weeks not 42.
