Sorry for the not very imaginative title. Noticed old thread was full and couldn't find a new one.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Yes is a relief glad i asked now as is reassuring to know its not just me.When do we start to feel baby move is it 16 weeks or 20 weeks for first. As this is my third im hoping i may feel something soon that will make me feel better.

BeauticianNotMagician · 07/11/2012 10:38

Forgot to add 12+6

FlaminNoraImPregnantPanda · 07/11/2012 10:45

Shattered today as I didn't sleep at all last night. I had thought I was feeling little bits of movement the last few days, but didn't really believe as it's still a bit early (although I hear it can be early with a second). Last night though as I was trying to sleep, it was definately movement. Lots of squirming around and the occasional gentle tap, so long as I kept my hands applying gentle pressure to the bump. So spent most of the night doing just that, waiting for more. Guess who's becoming a bit obsessed? Blush

My daughter rarely moved inside. Didn't move at all during the scan (only one done 20 years ago). All through my pregnancy she only really moved if prodded. This was a portent of things to come. 19 years of only moving when prodded :o

TerracottaPie · 07/11/2012 11:33

I've been thinking I've been feeling movements too. That fluttering, squirming feeling. For the last few nights :)

This is DC4 so I'm not that surprised. DC3 I didn't feel until 20 something weeks though due to an anterior placenta.

I love how different every pregnancy is. Makes every time feel special and not that you're having the pregnancy version of groundhog day. Obviously the baby is special but I mean the actual incubating process. Does that even make sense?

mwncigirl · 07/11/2012 11:56

I felt DC1 move at 16 weeks, I think that was early for the first, I'm slim so got bump early too. Really can't wait to feel this little one move. It's such a wonderful feeling and so reassuring. I'm only 13+2 so I reckon it'll be a while yet. Got MW later so fingers crossed we'll hear the heart beat. Do they usually use a Doppler at 13 weeks?

hey 10 mine are tuesday afternoons!

you are entitield to time off for AN appts from work that are still paid and not counted as sick leave.

lovely to hear about movement! Am only 12 weeks but am sure I have had three odd flutters. I felt DS1 at 14 weeks and could see him moving when I was lying down at 18! exciting to have that to look forward to tho am fatter now Grin. Am trying not to think about it too much tho as have my scan tomorrow. nervous!

ProcrastinatingPanda · 07/11/2012 12:25

littlebairn I hadn't realised we were so close, I'm in South Lanarkshire Smile

InherentlyCantankerous · 07/11/2012 12:35

I think I've felt movements too - I'm 14+2. You'd think by DC4 I'd remember what early movements feel like.

I've got my 20 week scan in 5 weeks! Seems to be going quite quickly so far.

(I've name changed - am not just randomly gate crashing!)

ProcrastinatingPanda · 07/11/2012 12:55

I'm jealous inherently, I've not even had a date for my first scan yet. The book the midwife gave me said for 2nd + pregnancies you may feel movement from 15 weeks, that's not far off what you are so it could be movement.

12 wks today :o

ah 10 that is a bugger for you.

panda how come you haven't got a scan date yet? did you ought to chase it up?

beaver33 · 07/11/2012 13:21

Agree re community midwife appointments - all during the day. I don't mind too much as work have been fab at giving me time off.

Only thing is my appointments can only be on a Monday - which is my day off as I work Saturdays - so am pretending they're on Tuesdays so I get my entitlement to leave (cackles).

ALSO I need to moan about pregnancy yoga. Really want to do this as I mainly feel like a tub of out-of-breath lard right now. But all of the classes near me in South London or work in West London are during the working day. Wtf? Surely that makes little commercial sense?

Any recommendations from peeps either around Brixton or Kensington?

beaver33 · 07/11/2012 13:21

oooh, and 13+2. But who's counting? Grin

ProcrastinatingPanda · 07/11/2012 13:41

wilde my midwife was on annual leave so all her patients were put on hold and my form wasn't sent in until she wa back. I've got my booking in appointment next Wednesday though and just need to wait for my scan date to come though in the post now.

Ellypoo · 07/11/2012 13:49

10 - any way you could work from home? That's what I'm going to do for all of my appointment days.

beaver, apparently, if MW recommends it, you could be entitled to time off for yoga too - maybe speak to her abuot it, or to work about maybe taking a long lunch on the day that they do the classes and making the time up other times?

I think I've felt a couple of fluttery movements, but not certain yet. It's around 20+ weeks for a first, but this is my 2nd so hoping to feel it earlier!!

This baby didn't move around very much at the scan, but the heartbeat was fluttering away so wasn't too worried - sonographer wasn't concerned either.

Who was it talking about mortgages? Are you due to renew your mortgage soon? Could that be an option, to change the provider to see if anyone else can offer better flexiblity? I believe Santander ranked really low on a survey of customer service/satisfaction. Might be worth looking into? Can you save anything up now to help towards your maternity period? Especially if you will be getting full pay for 5 months (wow - am Envy at that!!!)

My bump has definitely popped out now! Love it!!!

14+1

wilderumpus · 07/11/2012 14:08

ahhhh panda. that's so weird that no one else took over your caseload, the MWs here get very uppity if you try and have your booking in after 10 weeks, let alone 13! All to look forward to though :)

scooby26 · 07/11/2012 14:10

Ellypoo- tied in to a fixed rate until 2014 so leaving is not an option - unless we move house the. I may be inclined to pay 000o's redemption fee! We are trying to save but it's not going to be enough to have the year off I had hoped for - be more like 6 mths- the main problem being is that my job is shifts so there's no way I can face going back to work with a 5 mth old baby for me to head off to nightshift :-(

Ellypoo · 07/11/2012 14:20

That's rubbish scooby - I imagine that you've already cut back on things that you don't necessarily need in order to start saving. It does seem weird though that they won't let you go interest only for a short period. Have you looked at anywhere else for a loan? If you look on moneysupermarket, with some of them you don't have to start making the repayments immediately, so you could perhaps look at doing that before you finish your full pay element of mat leave. Also, SMP works out at just over £500/month, and in your first month you may well get a PAYE rebate too because your personal allowance is based on being paid evenly over the full tax year, so could that help stretch you a bit? Does yours & DH's job have to be shifts, or could either of you either have fixed shifts for a few months or move to a different area temporarily, so that you aren't both on shifts with a 5 month old?

Hi guys, just catching up on the posts... Had to go away for work so haven't been online for a few days.
picklep I'm with you on the steak thing. I can't deal with the thought of having anything more than medium rare. I'm sure it's fine!
peardrop yes there are really good discounts at the Baby Show. We went to the one recently in Earls Court to do a bit of research (and cos we were excited and since we couldn't tell people it was nice to be somewhere where we could say I was pregnant!). There were loads of big discounts so we're going to go to the Excel one in Feb for some stuff. The prams were the big ones for discounts, some including free car seats etc. so big savings. We were so knackered after a while that I didn't really make it to the mothercare stall but it was a lot of fun!

So our update is that all is well! The consultant was so lovely and spent ages with us on a much better scanner than before checking everything and reassuring us. She let my partner take a video of it, gave us loads of pictures and told us that it looks like we are having a boy!!!! My screening results came back and I'm low risk, turns out the other sonographer got the nuchal measurement wrong and it's 3.1 not 4.1. Feels like a huge weight off my mind and we went for our anniversary dinner on a massive high from it all! Now feel like I can get excited about the whole thing. The consultant is going to do my 20 weeks scan too so am really happy. Woo hoo!

Ellypoo · 07/11/2012 15:27

That's fantastic news wirra!!!!

peardrop2 · 07/11/2012 15:56

Hi ladies, I also have happy scan news :-) Was told Low risk DS. I had to be scanned twice as baby wasn't moving so Beaut you're not alone! I have another reassurance scan at 16 weeks when I'm really hoping we find out the gender!! Yay for the all the happy scans :-)

kittykatskumkwat · 07/11/2012 16:02

Wow that sounds great wirrawoo so pleased you got the chance to repeat the scan, bonus she told you the sex chance as they often refuse to earlier then the 20wks!!
10- I had the same with work, I live 34 miles away so tried to book say the earliest appointment or the last and go in after or go home earlier, I never did the go to work and come back go and comeback iyswim
Panda- no scan date for me yet either sigh
