New thread here ladies!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

On another thread I'm on someone was saying that their Diabetes nurse says she regularly sees people with levels of 20/30 and their baby's have no ill effects. I'm not a medical professional but 8 really isn't that high, both readings I've done today have been 8. They should have checked your placental blood flow at the scan? Do you think it could be stress contributing to the weight loss? Could you maybe explain to your nurse and have a quick five minute chat with her each afternoon to discuss the previous 24 hours to put your mind at rest? I agree with pidj really it's not good for you to be so worried (sorry if I've said anything out of turn? I want to try and be reassuring without being patronising or giving wrong information!)

emilyeggs · 27/10/2012 18:18

Sooo uncomfortable today Sad feel like I can't get any fuller but only just turned 31 weeks. Sad on my way home from work now

SpottyTeacakes · 27/10/2012 18:28

I'm the same emily 31+2 by the morning though I feel much more comfortable again Smile

WerewolvesDoTheFandango · 27/10/2012 18:58

I'm quite little in a morning and then at night I have to sit with my belly out as anything touching it make it feel like it will burst. I'm only 32 w today, 7 more to go at least.

I'm the same, during the day I can move ok but come the evening like a beached whale!
37w +3 days only 7w + 2 days till due date!

PurplePidjInAPointyHat · 27/10/2012 19:25

4 weeks 5 days here and I've got that feeling like when you go out to dinner and eat too much because the food is sooooooooo good.

But without the yummy food bit [hsad]

Cookiesandcream06 · 27/10/2012 19:41

Oh walnut I completely feel your pain. Did he work that evening in the end? Honestly as nice as it was to spend the first day with him in about 7 months he was almost annoyed he wasn't making money? DP came home from work, had a quick shower then has gone straight out to the pub Hmm and I still put Dd to bed and cooked my dinner (part of me hoped he might offer-silly!) and I was invited out to a friends Halloween party just round the corner and couldn't go (not that I appreciated the "you can dress up as a pumpkin" comments my friend made!) so feeling a bit sorry for myself - sorry to moan.

seconds yes agree that a quick call or something could very well put your mind at rest? I have no clue and no helpful comments/advice but I do know that you shouldn't let yourself worry.

Full and huge by the end of day here too. Does anyone else feel like their bump has literally doubled in size/hardness by bed?! And how much I'll have grown in 6 weeks scares me, I don't want to be any bigger Confused

Hope things are going well honey and little Dash is out of his incubator soon ? I've literally been thinking of you all the time (also partly because its made me shit my pants that in theory this baby could infect make an appearance!)

emilyeggs · 27/10/2012 20:31

purple you've hit the nail right on the head! that's exactly how I feel. Fed up tonight and can't keep still trying to find a comfy position, plus I'm tired Sad

HoneyMum21 · 27/10/2012 20:33

Dash is still in his incubator. He's also had to start phototherapy today as he's jaundiced. Have managed to express all the milk he's had so far though :) and he tried the breast a couple if times today. Once was successful, once he couldn't quite get his coordination right but we'll persevere!

Hope all the bumps aren't causing too much grief and everyone gets plenty of sleep with the extra hour tonight!

emilyeggs · 27/10/2012 20:34

Poor cookies, I feel for you on dp going out. Sometimes you just want to be looked after

SpottyTeacakes · 27/10/2012 20:38

Honey that's excellent about the breastfeeding. Has he got super hero goggles on to protect his eyes from the light?! You sound really positive and like you're doing really well it all must have been such a shock for you Smile

emilyeggs · 27/10/2012 20:42

That's great honey! Glad your both doing well. Smile

HoneyMum21 · 27/10/2012 20:58

Thanks :) for those of you who've done this before is it normal (end of day 2) that my boobs have gone rock solid and quite sore even after I've just expressed?

utopian99 · 27/10/2012 21:00

Glad it's going well honey; it's fantastic hearing your updates - I think I'm more excited about meeting ours now one of us popped as it sort of felt it might not really happen before! Good luck with the bf too, sounds like you'll get it cracked before long.

I have a throat which is so sore it's actually making me feel sick, but have washed all the baby clothes/sheets etc, dh went all soppy when he saw all the little vests lined up to dry. Grin

SpottyTeacakes · 27/10/2012 21:03

Honey sounds like your milk is coming in

Cookiesandcream06 · 27/10/2012 21:20

honey sounds great, and agree sounds like your milk coming in, hard swollen lumps if I remember correctly! V promising with Bf too. Hope you are feeling ok, sounds like you've handled it amazingly well and taken all so easily in your stride, when you've had a baby people always seem to ask after the baby and not so much after the mum but really hope you're doing well too.

Finally phoned up the pram shop today with MiL and she's collecting it in Nov - but her house is a building site ATM so worrying about where she's going to keep it?! But panicking as that's also the car seat and with one arrival already I am somewhat apprehensive!

Cute on baby clothes washing whoever said .. I keep vowing to do it but I'm worried they won't be as fresh when the time comes if I do them now?!

AlisonDB · 27/10/2012 23:14

Glad to hear little Dash is doing well, you must be chuffed with him, and you sound so calm! ;-)

I think I'm a little a head of the game but all the baby's clothes are washed, ironed and hung in his newly decorated bedroom,
I got the pram down from the loft yesterday and even though it was clean and had been wrapped in plastic sheets to protect it I scrubbed it within an inch of its life,
the car seat also got a thorough going over
and I packed my hospital bag minus food stuffs!

I think I'm in nesting overdrive!!! God help me closer to the time :-)
but don't want to leave anything to the last minute just in case!

Also I only finish work 1 wk before my due date so I want to be able to rest in that wk (if 5 yr old DS and all his school activities will allow me to)

Secondsop · 28/10/2012 00:29

spotty and pidg thank you for your comments;
I didn't have a chance to ring anyone today as I was singing in a concert but feel a bit calmer now; Spotty placental blood flow was checked at my 32 week scan, I remember now, and it seemed fine. The baby has been reassuringly active this evening too - he was quite sleepy during the concert but woke up when a piano started playing.

Walnut8 · 28/10/2012 05:49

Seconds, might be unrelated or completely unhelpful, but I've also lost weight,a couple of kilos over the past two weeks. I think I'm not eating as much - I can't fit as much in!

And yes cookies, he did work all night that night of my bday!!! And all day the following day (sunday) as well. DH was out all day to about midnight last night at a bucks, which really was quite good in the end (was expecting much later!) - and not even particularly hungover today. Yay. Managed to drag the family buggy and car seat shopping but came home with nothing except new dining furniture!?

Glad BF is going well honey. Not personally looking forward to awkwardly shaped, painful boobs .... urgh.

HoneyMum21 · 28/10/2012 06:29

Milk has come in with a vengeance today - great for expressing, got loads out but I have to admit damn painful too.

Just to make all you ladies laugh- I keep having flashbacks of bits I'd forgotten about the birth. At one point near the end the midwife was giving me a local anesthetic in case she had to make a cut. While trying to reassure me she said 'don't worry, it's just like being at the debtist' to which I responded very loudly 'I fucking hate dentists'. No one really knew how to reply! Well, it's been making me giggle!

SpottyTeacakes · 28/10/2012 06:34

Honey that's so funny, let us know what other conical things pop into your head as there's bound to be more! So glad the expressing is going well and I hope your boobs calm down soon!

Secondsop · 28/10/2012 06:59

Gaah honey I would not respond well to being told not to worry about something on the basis that it's just like being at the dentist!

SpottyTeacakes · 28/10/2012 07:07

I remember the consultant telling us how tired he was as he was stitching me up Confused and that he always had to have a shower before he left to stop falling asleep on the way home! I actually felt sorry for him as I had seen him at 9:30 am, it was gone 11pm and he said he still had hours to go!

emilyeggs · 28/10/2012 07:50

Mammoth sleep! Dh and I fell asleep cuddling on the sofa (twas nice), when I got us both up to go to bed I thought there was no chance of getting back to sleep but ta da! Just got up now Grin enjoy the extra hour ladies

EggsMichelle · 28/10/2012 09:06

Home from our very short trip to Newcastle, I walked up Northumbria and the Castle, I didn't know I could still walk that far, but was lots of fun. Home now and my first day of ML with out epic plans, I think I'll get some knitting done.

Got my list of nesting jobs to get done, although my leisurely plans of stretching it out of the next 6wks have be scuppered by Honey and Dash's keen early arrival, I'll have to get cleaning!
