Dd is being hideous today already and dp is going to work Sad

I still got heartburn and had swollen feet for a few days after having dd but I don't think that's the norm really

Walnut8 · 27/10/2012 07:20

Spotty Sad Does he work many saturdays? My DH has been working weekends (as well as full time during the week) for the past few months and it's SHIT.

SpottyTeacakes · 27/10/2012 07:26

He works every single Saturday he can! There are periods when he doesn't but only when it's quite. I should be grateful really as it's over time but we only get the money every quarter or so and this time of year he goes straight from work to football!

I wonder when I can reasonably ask him to stop?! Grin

SpottyTeacakes · 27/10/2012 07:27

Do you also find Walnut that everyone else is busy doing family things on a Saturday so it's even worse?!

emilyeggs · 27/10/2012 07:32

Great! I'll look forward to sleeping on my front that night Grin. Love it hear, no question to stupid!

SpottyTeacakes · 27/10/2012 07:37

You can sleep on your front for approximately three days. Then your boobs will be water melons Wink

emilyeggs · 27/10/2012 07:57

Thanks spotty! Great!

utopian99 · 27/10/2012 08:15

We're off for a bump photo today! No idea if it'll work out cheesy or arty (hoping for the latter,) but was one of these cheap voucher deals so thought why not? If it turns out nice I thought it could go in the nursery..

Really hoping my stomach goes down asap as you've been discussing. Have two weddings next year in June/July and really looking forward to wearing a non-maternity dress again!

SpottyTeacakes · 27/10/2012 08:18

Oh that sounds lovely utopian!

Cookiesandcream06 · 27/10/2012 08:42

spotty and walnut I completely feel your pain! Pretty much since we found out DP has been working 7 day weeks. And I'm talking 12hour+ days. And don't you feel really selfish when you ask if they can't ?! But he insists and the only time he took off was for my birthday. But yeh Spotty everyone else does 'family stuff' and my parents aren't usually here at w/es either. V tiring being solely responsible for a hyperactive Dd when fat and uncomfortable! not to mention trying to clean the house

I second taking it easy- massively overdid it last time!

StrawberrytallCAKE · 27/10/2012 08:42

That really nice utopian have fun!

No spotty my hair behaves quite well but the hairdresser dyed it a lovely shade of black and white from a dark blonde with highlights so to strip out the black the hairdresser ha to use bleach an it revealed the orange colour which was the base of the black. I should never try to go one shade darker again!! Thought it would be more manageable for when the baby is here.

Ah yes although the swelling in my face and arms and legs went down my empty bump remained for a few weeks until it started to go down.

AlisonDB · 27/10/2012 09:17

I just remember being able to stand and see my own feet again and being very emotional! (Damned hormones)
The lightness was definatly a relief, (although the tummy was wobbly/slightly saggy for a while after)
also I had such chronic heartburn with DS the minute he was born it disapeared, and the rib that he had either broken or badly bruised began to heal almost instantly as he could no longer inflict further kicks to it!
Hoping this time round my morning sickness, preg Rhinitis and heart burn all bugger off the minute he's here.

Oooh and I can't wait to sleep without a bloody pillow squished between my knees, and lie on my tummy!!! Whoooopppie!!
(Oh and for those not wanting to BF, the best advice I was given - wear a bra that is too small for you, don't take it off when you go to bed and sleep on your tummy, it make be slightly uncomfy, but it won't hurt, and it does stop the milk really quickly)

SpottyTeacakes · 27/10/2012 09:22

I have to say the pain when I stopped expressing milk (only about a week after) was almost as bad as labour. I was up all night crying I really had no idea it was going to be like that and stupidly didn't even think about pain killers! I'm sure it's not the same for everyone, they didn't hurt when my milk came in, just maybe best to look up in advance what you can do to help if you're in a similar situation!

Walnut8 · 27/10/2012 09:26

If you still have a small belly utopian, there's always spanx! I'm hoping to get back into a size 10 dress by early April ... hmmm Grin

I hope the photos work out.

Spotty, I think right about now is a reasonable time to ask him to stop!! Mind you, it may not help, DH's extra weekend work was supposed to finish up by the end of September and now he's saying he hopes it will be done by December?! Hmm

WerewolvesDoTheFandango · 27/10/2012 09:29

Hello ladies, another lonely soul here. DP works every Saturday and then goes to play football until 5pm, very boring on my own!

I've felt a bit weird since last night - kind of mild ache in lower back and I've been sick a little with a Rolling feeling in my stomach. Why do these things always happen at the weekends when you can't ring the midwife? Thought sleep would sort it out but I feel the same this morning.

Walnut8 · 27/10/2012 09:30

cookies, sorry just saw your post - I had to specifically ask DH to take me out for lunch for my bday and not work for those few hours (was a saturday) ... and even then he made me feel slightly guilty about it by saying on the way home that he was going to be working all night?!

SpottyTeacakes · 27/10/2012 09:35

I'm going to have to ask him to stop going to football training in the evening soon as I can't get dd ready for bed without needing an hour to recover! I'm only 31 weeks though!

I hope your DH isn't too far from home whilst he's working?!

SpottyTeacakes · 27/10/2012 09:37

werewolves I would just rest and drink plenty. Obviously if it gets worse then phone someone. Hope you feel better soon

HoneyMum21 · 27/10/2012 09:40

FYI these have been amazingly comfy post-labour. Thoroughly recommend plus the roll top would also be v.useful if cs is needed (I'm guessing)!
yoga pants

WerewolvesDoTheFandango · 27/10/2012 09:49

Good tip honey hope you're both doing well. Why do they have to make them look as unfashionable as possible in the picture though? Who wears shoes with yoga pants?

AlisonDB · 27/10/2012 10:41

Hope you're feeling better werewolves,

Honey, how is little Dash doing today? Was he able to come out of the incubator yesterday?

Secondsop · 27/10/2012 12:33

I'm a bit worried today - weighed myself this morning and I've lost 5lb, plus I'm sure the bump looks smaller. Could the baby be dropping down and could that be what is making the bump look a bit smaller? I'm still on diet control for gestational diabetes and I'm worried I'm not eating enough carbs as isn't a loss of 5lb in a week the sign of glycogen stores depleting, not actual weight loss? Will the baby still be getting what he needs? My GD possible big baby has to be balanced against the growth retardation that my high blood pressure can bring (although my bp is very well controlled by medication) and I'm worried that those two elements of my care aren't properly in balance.

SpottyTeacakes · 27/10/2012 12:38

Seconds have you got any ketone sticks? What have your levels been like? I wouldn't worry immediately but I would raise your concerns with someone on Monday, if only to put your mind at rest! When was your last scan and when do you have another one?

Secondsop · 27/10/2012 12:47

Spotty I don't have any ketone sticks, no - I wonder if i should ask for some on Monday at the clinic. My levels have been largely ok but with a couple of 8 readings a week. Last scan was a week ago and it looked fine - the baby had dropped off the 95th centile to more like the 75th centile - and the next one is in 3 weeks time (when I'll be 36 weeks). I rang the clinic in the week because I'd had 2 8 readings in a row and when I told the nurse about the scan result she was absolutely delighted with me and said I'd done really well, but how do they know that there isn't, eg, an issue with placental blood flow that's contributing? I'm continuing to be seen by the day assessment unit as well as the diabetic clinic because I was worried that the focus on the diabetes would mean the other high-risk aspects of my pregnancy would fall by the wayside.

PurplePidjInAPointyHat · 27/10/2012 12:54

Seconds, if you're worried call the labour ward or MLU for advice. Reducing your stress levels is just as important as treating anything that might actually be of concern (according to our lovely Senior mw)
