New thread here ladies!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

No expert Weejo but with me they kept checking the colour- waters are clear rather than white/cream. Have you got any pains or tightness? If in doubt call MW.

MyDaydream · 30/10/2012 14:07

weejo I think I am, although it tends to vary day by day. I've not worried about it since it all seems fairly normal but I do remember a few days last week thinking it was my waters/wee.

giraffe213 · 30/10/2012 14:26

I've found the same thing, had a mini panic in a shop the other day that either my waters were leaking or I was about to wet myself! I just figured if it was anything to worry about it would get worse... not sure if that's the best advice but it worked at the time.

Has anyone found any nice grandma/grandad gifts? I'm looking for something to supplement Christmas presents, but my parents aren't really into cheap and cheerful and I'm a bit tight-fisted so I'm struggling a bit!

WeeJo08 · 30/10/2012 14:29

Thanks ladies...I think it is discharge rather than waters as they are sometimes white-ish. I am going to ask my MW tomorrow when I see her. It's just that awful trickle-y feeling which panics me as you keep hearing stories from other women saying "Oh, I didn't think it was my waters because it was a trickle and not a "gush"!" Oh the joys of the last trimester! Grin

Think I'm going to make apple and pear crumble tonight...that'll sort me out!

WeeJo08 · 30/10/2012 14:31

Giraffe I got my Grannie a National Trust membership last year and she really liked it, don't know if that would be your grandparents' "thing" but might be worth a shot. It's about £40 if I remember correctly.

giraffe213 · 30/10/2012 14:54

Thanks, I meant for my parents though, as this will be their first grandchild - I was thinking 'best grandad' mugs/coasters or similar but everything seems so tacky!

ISpyPumpkinPie · 30/10/2012 15:43

Coffee - it's hard work isn't it? Mind you, DS had a complete meltdown because he wanted to go out again before (he'd fallen asleep in the car and convinced himself he'd missed something exciting, even though I was just quickly dropping something off at work) so there's no consistancy! We've had a lovely afternoon carving a pumpkin though - me carving, him scooping [hgrin].

Clarella - I'm looking forward to finding out if the head's engaged at all yet. I'm definitely feeling some pressure low down, can be quite uncomfy walking around at times. I definitely don't remember feeling anything like this so early last time (if at all), although DS's birthday should be today whereas it is actually a week on Monday so he was in no hurry to make his way to the exit!

SpottyTeacakes · 30/10/2012 15:46

I can't cope with dd at all today Sad why can't I be one of those nice calm parents instead of a horrible shouty one? Also my back and hips are killing me

AlisonDB · 30/10/2012 16:00

Spotty I know exactly how you feel,
Today I have had to put myself in time out 4 times to stop myself shouting at DS, lol
(walk out the the room, deep breaths, count backwards, re enter room, deal with problem...)

he just looks at me and says
"not long to go mummy" (but in a really sympathetic compasionate voice)
it does kind of make me laugh that my 5 yr old is do wise!

I hour of work to go and then I'm going to collapse in a heap!
Glad tomorrow is my day off! :-) in DS is back in school!! :-D

I'm not getting discharge, but i feel really swollen "down there"' any one else feeling like this?

Honey, how is Dash doing today?

SpottyTeacakes · 30/10/2012 16:04

She just does things she knows she shouldn't, like takes a DVD out of the case and plays with it?! Now she's sitting down reading books like an angel not the devil we all know she is

I have more days than not of being swollen down there. I never had it with dd but I think I have so much scar tissue combined with all the added pressure .... lovely!

Clarella · 30/10/2012 16:31

Oh Alison, how sweet :) I do feel for you, and can see why keeping those kids is good and wow to your DH - does he baby wrap?!

Yep fully engaged apparently but very surprised - I thought it would feel vastly different. I was waddling this afternoon round town more cos the two panty liners I over lap (one isn't cutting it, I seem to miss - yes to lots of discharge!) had dislodged and were tangling with bush (needs another trim) (sorry tmi!) Which was a bit ouchy!

I think it explains quite a,lot over the last week. Attempting to work.out if it genuinely means anything other than I'm in my last month of pregnancy? And its gonna get more uncomfy? And time to finalise bags?!

Oo oo excited bought some raspberry leaf tea from neals yard - gonna get the tea pot out. Any ideas how much/ long to steep for? One tea spoon?

SpottyTeacakes · 30/10/2012 16:35

Clarella I think first babies can engage quite early? Also Always do some towels for 'sensitive bladders' which are thicker than a liner, thinner than a pad and not made by Tena Wink

Clarella · 30/10/2012 16:40

Lol I need them to be longer for some reason spotty - think its being only able to cope with leggings! Early engagement is good. Sticking to that :)

(though going to spook DH later with the news!)

PrunellaDeVille · 30/10/2012 16:40

anyone getting a very bruised feeling in the top of their bump? it seems to move about so not actual bruising, think it might be just where i feel LO but it's really quite sore.
any ideas?

Clarella · 30/10/2012 16:44

I think I briefly had that a couple of weeks ago prune when I was having bad 'folding issues' as he / bump was so high and tight but it wasn't very noticeable so may not be same?

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 30/10/2012 16:53

clarella my first dc (dd) was engaged at 20 weeks I think first babies like to prepare lol!

Well spent today wandering round Dubai mall, we went to the aquarium, up the burj kalifa, to candylicious and build a bear. We also watched the Dubai fountains. I am now knackered and have ankles the size of elephants!

My ear is ok as long as I take ibuprofen Hmm which obv I'm not supposed to take so I've been limiting it to nighttime when I need to sleep!

honey it's great to hear little Dash is out of the incubator!

PurplePidjInAPointyHat · 30/10/2012 16:53

Giraffe, I've got a "Baby's First Year" photo frame for my gran - first great grand child - with a big gap in the middle for the just born pic and 12 little ones around it for each month of the first year. Was £3.99 in Store21, but I've seen them elsewhere too :)

Clarella · 30/10/2012 16:59

Ah, more good early engagement news Stacey thanks! Your poor ear - hope it gets better soon, prob not helped in pregnancy with our circulation issues :(

What a lovely idea pidg!

AlisonDB · 30/10/2012 17:03

Clarella, not sure how long to steep it for....

Apologies if anyone has already read or written this but.....
Did anyone read the thread about it on the pregnancy bit?

General opinion was - that the Tea is not quite as effective as the capsules, but both can be started from week 34,,
Build up slowly start with 1 - 3 cups per day, then increase the amounts, same with the capsules, start slowly and build up,
Raspberry leaf doesn't start labour but helps tone the uterine muscle

Also on the same thread someone mentioned taking.....

or better still inserting Evening Primrose Cspsules as close to the cervix as you can (best to do just before bedtime, and wear a liner as the oil can stain)
This can be started from wk 36/37
This apparently does help induce labour as it has a mild dose of the same hormone used to medically induce.

CODwidow · 30/10/2012 17:18

stacey I was told last week when my wisdom tooth decided to come through to avoid ibroufen as it can damage babies heart and codeine or co-codamol is fine to take.

I will be starting raspberry leaf tea tomorrow as I'll be 34weeks but used it before and actually like it Smile

SpottyTeacakes · 30/10/2012 17:20

I think Codeine is illegal in Dubai?

CODwidow · 30/10/2012 17:25

Sorry just read last post and didn't mean to panic anyone, a few doses wouldn't hurt but just so your aware of what I was told. Blush

AlisonDB · 30/10/2012 17:26

Stacey, I would stop using ibuprofen.
if you can get hold of codine or cocodamol it would be much safer.
Sorry your still suffering! :-(

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 30/10/2012 17:30

I can't take codeine anyway as I'm allergic. Just gunna have to keep the ibuprofen to a minimum. Just hoping its better for the flight home :(

Clarella · 30/10/2012 17:33

Doh, do you know what I was on that thread! Blush Don't think they got to working out how long/ much etc - will check.

Got my eve prim - wondering about perineal massage .....Blush

Just had my first taste - I quite like it too! Might do the tea for a bit over next couple of weeks then maybe capsules (if baby still in place). Figure another thing I can drink, been missing so many various drinks! Have hidden from DH though, he's convinced it brings on labour.
