Welcome to the connecting bus ladies, next stop morning sickness, booking in, and dating scans. Grin
Estimated Time of Arrive late May early June 2013.

I know we said we'd wait until the end of the month, But I'm so excited. and hungry, and need a wee again, and nervous, and my boobs hurt, and the voyeuristic spiders are still watching me

We'll keep our FX that we all stay the distance, and our ttc sisters will join us soon.

I will prepare myself to donate fluid from all places then. Hate it when they cock up the vein bit- not helpful at all. Luckily I have huge veins nowadays and have had about 6 blood tests in the last year so am well practised unfortunately

peardrop2 · 15/10/2012 22:40

I've had loads of blood tests too buy the midwife and her junior team member couldn't get any out of me :-( ggggrrrrrr Now next week I have to have two sets of blood. I'm going to ring up my GP tomorrow and ask if there are any nurses about to take it because I can't go through that drama again, especially if they ask me to go back again! The nurses always get it out straight away so I don't get what the problem was.

bringonthetrumpets · 15/10/2012 22:44

Pear as someone who loves doing blood draws (I'm weird, I know Grin) I would recommend drinking lots of water, wear a nice warm sweater to bring the veins to the skin's surface, and take a deep breath. Good luck!

bringonthetrumpets · 15/10/2012 22:45

To clarify (I like being the phlebotomist), not necessarily have my blood drawn.

peardrop2 · 15/10/2012 23:47

bring you butter :-) I had two glasses of water between 8-10am. My appt was at 11am. Do you think that was too little then? Right, I'm going in my snow suit next time and drinking gallons of water!!

FrustratedSycamoreBonks · 16/10/2012 08:38

my friend keeps asking me if I've lost weight. Grin trouble is I feel so bloated. I think she's mad. Grin

IBelieveInPonk · 16/10/2012 09:45

I know it's my fault. I know I wished for it. I'm really happy, honest

12ylnon · 16/10/2012 10:03

Hi ladies, sorry i haven't checked in for a while.

I was just wondering, i had my first midwife appointment on sunday at 7 weeks, just basically loads of info being taken. She booked me in for my next appointment which is at 16 weeks! I can't really remember how often i had midwife appointments last time (it seems so long ago) but i'm sure i had more than that!
I have a scan between 11 and 14 weeks where i'll have bloods taken to test for chromosomal abnormalities, but i'm sure last time i had a whole load of blood tests towards the beginning of my pregnancy. I'm probably being an idiot, but it seems so far away!
Right, off to make myself a bowl of pasta... at 10 in the morning... god, i'm hungry!

FrustratedSycamoreBonks · 16/10/2012 10:04

Haha is it bad ponk? It'll be worth it in the end.

I have a baby in my house! She's gorgeous. And asleep after her milk. not fair considering she kept her parents up all night (which is why I have her) just waiting for her to wake up with a stinky nappy. I'm calling it refreshing my memory.

12ylnon · 16/10/2012 10:05

also, tmi, but i thought you had to provide a urine sample with every appointment?

Lorelei353 · 16/10/2012 10:46

Morning all.

Wow, early pregnancy is not fun. I'm not at all as bad as some but am oh-so-tired and queasy. Haven't actually been sick at any stage but so queasy.

To make matters worse I have a one-hour dentists appt. this afternoon to replace a crown. Misery. I rang the dentist's office to ask if it was safe to have the work done now that I'm pregnant and was told it was but will double check with dentist when I get there.

Lorelei353 · 16/10/2012 11:03

Hi 12.
I was just looking at the mumsnet link about antenatal appts and it does say that at your early appt:

^Blood will be taken to test for:
Your rhesus status and blood type
Anaemia
Rubella immunity
HIV and STIs^

I guess since you had all this done for your first pregnancy you probably don't need it again.

Good info on the different expected appointments here: www.mumsnet.com/pregnancy/antenatal-appointments

Although my book also says you may need fewer appts if it's not your first pregnancy.

FrustratedSycamoreBonks · 16/10/2012 11:26

That's right lore they positively abandon you in subsequent pregnancies.

I've been puked on. Am very surprised I wasn't sick too. Baby now crying, can I give her back now do ya think?

IBelieveInPonk · 16/10/2012 12:06

It's not too horrific yet. Got called into a meeting earlier just as I though I was going to blow chunks have to excuse myself. But managed a few choc chip cookies which seems to have helped.

FrustratedSycamoreBonks · 16/10/2012 12:54

continue talking about blowing chunks and I will blow chunks

Lorelei353 · 16/10/2012 12:57

Me too. Just the phrase, that I shall not type, but with the initials bc is making me very queasy. We should have a queasy 'smiley' face.

Thundernonk · 16/10/2012 12:59

Laughing now and feeling it is wrong that despite the disgustingness of this conversation I am still feeling hungry

IBelieveInPonk · 16/10/2012 17:42

Was it on here we were talking about hair dye? Just cos I asked my midwife about it if anyone interested?

Thundernonk · 16/10/2012 17:59

Yeah go on then ponk

FrustratedSycamoreBonks · 16/10/2012 18:13

So ponk, do we have to have skanky roots?

Thundernonk · 16/10/2012 18:28

ponk ponk ponk

You tease!

IBelieveInPonk · 16/10/2012 18:43

Sorry! Dinner distracted me!

She said she doesn't know where the concern came from. She has never seen it cause a problem and doesn't really know how it could. She wouldn't worry about dying hair at all, but said if concerned, wait til after 12 weeks. Then go for it.
Yay to no skanky roots :)

Thundernonk · 16/10/2012 18:50

Good, and sensible advice particularly as I'm booked to have my roots done between 10 and 11 weeks, if we get that far

IBelieveInPonk · 16/10/2012 18:53

That's what I thought. She said loads of people ask her, and she thinks it is one of those things that there is no evidence either way and people just guess that it may not be good. But often guess wrong as there isn't anything to prove it bad either. Happy roots!
