OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
tattooedapril87 · 13/10/2012 15:50

i know already that they are non identical- so now am keeping fingers crossed for one boy and one girl! then im done! but in the same breath having double boy or girl means needing less things and they can share things when they are older!

thanks for the congrats- i still can't believe it!!

Mama1980 · 13/10/2012 16:49

Hello this is mama1980 s sister. She has asked me to update you as she has drawn a lot of strength from this thread over the past few weeks. Bec had a operation yesterday, she is in hospital and fighting a infection but her baby is alive, it's as stubborn as my sister is! I know she will update herself as soon as she can.
Thanks
Sam

HaveALittleFaith · 13/10/2012 16:52

Oh thanks for the update Sam! Bless her and the baby, they really are fighters! I'll be sending positive vibes and praying for a positive outcome.

MrsSimkins · 13/10/2012 16:57

Yaaaaay! That baby and Mama are certainly made of strong stuff! Thanks for letting us know Sam and please tell her we're all thinking of her and wishing her well x

toobreathless · 13/10/2012 17:21

Thanks for updating sam

Yay!!!! For mama hang on there! Sending you all the love in the world.

I have ended up with two Baby Bjorns & was wondering if I can send one of you students one? Absolutely do not want anything for it. I had a rather faded but fully functional old one (from eBay) then saw an active one with back support in a broken box for £25 in Boots sale & couldn't resist.

Sam thanks so much for updating us, that's such good news that the baby is hanging on in there.

Please send your sister and her baby our love and best wishes, they're in all our thoughts. Xx

EmpressMatilda · 13/10/2012 18:16

I've been away on honeymoon for the last 10 days so just catching up now and reading through.

Sam -wow! That is great news. We are all thinking of her and willing the LO to hang on in there.

tattooedapril87 -congrats on the twins. Am actually envious! I think in some ways it is a huge challenge but if, like me, you only want two and this is your first pregnancy then it will be job done in one go!

username -about your scan, the exact same thing happened to me. They couldn't get the baby to move to a better position despite much prodding and jumping about. I was booked in for the quad bloods but there was a long wait and I think they are less reliable. So i cancelled and went to a private clinic for another go at the NT. It was pricey though so not an easy decision. Baby almost didn't play ball that time either but thankfully a brisk walk down the corridor got it to move!

Regarding exercise... I am worried as I've given up the gym and just can't face it. I am still walking to the station every day to catch my train but as I get more pregnant and the weather worsens I am not sure that will last! I'm currently looking up local yoga groups and I have joined the local swimming pool. I think that's all I will do. I'm not going to push myself. I think it's about keeping up a bit of gentle exercise but otherwise accepting that there will be catching up to do after the birth.

Maternity clothes ... I have the first signs of a bump. It has been around for about 4 days now. I got a shock on Thursday when a stranger we just started chatting to in Crete looked at me and said 'you are having baby!' just like that, as a statement of fact! I didn't know people could tell!

It's not yet having an impact on my clothes but I have some maternity stuff from ebay lined up for when that happens. I will probably buy some new stuff for 'nice' as well. Thanks for the recommendation about Gap jeans. I will check them out.

Kellestar -sorry I was late to respond due to being on holiday but it seems you went to the same place as me in the end and had a similarly positive experience!

Giddypants · 13/10/2012 19:04

mama I have everything crossed your stubborn little bean is staying put, your both amazing, thinking of you xxx

kellestar · 13/10/2012 19:07

sam thank you for updating us. Glad to hear that little one is still with her, I wish her all the best and a speedy recovery.

tattooed when they are newborn and 0-3 they tend to wear similar things even if they are B/G, so just make sure you stash up on some lovely brights that don't matter what sex is wearing it. I had some lovely bright vests and sleepsuits from M&S in multipacks and they had no logos. Though there was pink there was also turquoise too. They were very reasonable, haven't stained [even beetroot came out] and I've stored them from DD's little days ready for this one. Mind you DD is a small girl, so she's 22 months and mostly in 9-12 month clothes and had been wearing 6-9 month vests for about 9 months, and the M&S ones still look fab. DD wears lots of boyish clothes coupled with a skirt or jeggings.

I went to a second hand sale today and couldn't resist a few newborn 0-3 clothes as DD was a december/snow baby and I'm hoping April won't be as cold, so may find the extra fluffy snowsuits aren't used. :) I am a big fan of secondhand goods, I know it's not for some, but those of you tight on pocket may find it worthwhile to pop along to an NCT sale nearby. I recently took a friend who managed to get some real bargains and wasn't keen on second hand before now. I think somethings should be new, like carseats, sheets [if you've got an attic, you'd be amazed what you can stick up there and keep for the next one] as I'm a SAHM it means I don't have to splash out alot of cash. Except I am thinking of a double buggy and have fallen in love with the Icandy Peach Blossom.

Missmuffet28 · 13/10/2012 19:14

Great news about mama sending more positive thoughts and hope she is feeling better soon!!

NotShortImFunSized · 13/10/2012 20:49

Sam / Mama thank you so, so much for updating us. I haven't stopped thinking about your sister for the last couple of days. I am sat here crying tears of relief that there is still hope. I hope that tough little cookie stays as stubborn as your sister! Sending so many positive thoughts and hugs. Hope you're feeling better soon Mama x

Will catch up on everything else in a bit!

MumofWombat · 13/10/2012 21:26

Hearing Mama's news via her sister has made the middle of my night, which otherwise consisted of DS being awake for over an hour and a half so far.....

Roxoroxy · 13/10/2012 22:29

Mama you and your baby are such fighters, such an inspiration. May you both go from strength to strength as you recover together from your latest op.

bunnygirl80 · 13/10/2012 23:11

tattooed congrats on the twins. Grin

mama glad to hear your baby is hanging on in there

mumtowombat sounds like your hospital are really looking after you

I was pretty much over my nausea, but poor DS has come down with a tummy bug, and whereas I'm normally ok dealing with his sick this just pushed me over the edge. At 2:30am he vomited all over me, and about 30secs later I started throwing up too. Poor DH was holding a bowl for me and DS to both puke into simultaneously

somewherebecomingrain · 14/10/2012 08:12

great news mama am praying for you and your baby xxx

bunnygirl poor, poor you.

i'm nearly through MS - now my head is clearing i can savour my moods and my money worries.

but it is good - my DP has christened me Fecundstein because i've been such a monster - i'm (a bit) less of a monster now and i am 'working' i am 'functional'.

xxx

EssexWelsh · 14/10/2012 08:19

Morning!

Wow Mama you are such a fighter and looks like LO has inherited this!

toobreathless happy to have your chair if still going please, just PM me so I can send some money to cover p&p.

Accidentally bought a pram yesterday from eBay, have been 'just looking' then put in a cheeky bid for the one I've been fancying then my competitive gene took over and I kept bidding Grin

Oh well, the attic it goes for now!

Teapig · 14/10/2012 08:38

Sam thank you for updating us on mama's news. I am over joyed that mama that baby is well. They are both amazing, such an inspiration. I hope mama sees off infection soon.

tattooed double congrats! How exciting to be having twins!

Very interested to read about prams, DH and I have a lot to learn as this will be our first. We're going to hold off on prams until +20 weeks but I'm very tempted to check out an NCT sale.

We've told friends about pg this weekend and I'm going to tell work next week. It's starting to feel more real.

bunny that sounds awful, hope you feel better and have a relaxing day.

EssexWelsh · 14/10/2012 10:23

Teapig I was going to wait too, but fallen in love with the Bugaboo Chameleon, tried it in mothercare and was still my fav. The Bugaboo Bee, I thought the wheels were really little and not great for park walking etc. I got mine on eBay as could never justify the £700 price tag and I think hold their value well for resale afterwards.

Kellestar don't supposed it was the Havering NCT sale you went to yesterday? Anyone else London East/Essex local? Have joined an NCT group with classes starting in Feb, would be crazy to have met some of you in real life but never know!

kellestar · 14/10/2012 12:06

essexwelsh I'm in Somerset, it wasn't an NCT but a local mums sale. Our NCT sale is in two weeks, madly decided to help as it's quite a fun day!

Teapig · 14/10/2012 12:48

Essex great idea to get a pram on ebay. I've been shuddering at the cost and think I go the ebay route too.

Kellestar I've never been an NCT sale before, do you have to be a member to go along or is it open to all?

kellestar · 14/10/2012 13:05

open to all, they do let members in early, but you still get good pickings when the general public go in. I picked up my current lightweight maclaren XT buggy at an NCT sale for £35.

Missmuffet28 · 14/10/2012 15:02

kellestar can in ask where abouts in Somerset these sales are? Because I'm also in Somerset and have not heard a peep wouldn't mind having a look for myself :)

Bambino29 · 14/10/2012 15:17

Hi all,

Haven't been on in a while as work has been crazy. So happy for everyone who's had reassuring results from scans. Mama - thinking about you and your baby lots - so glad to hear he or she is hanging in there. What a little fighter!

Had my scan on Thursday which was amazing - can't stop staring at pics - baby is sticking its tongue out in one of them. So cute. NT came out as 1.9 - the sonographer seemed to think that was average. Apparently if I don't hear from the hospital by the end of the day tomorrow, I can assume I'm low risk. Will be watching my phone obsessively tomorrow methinks!

Finally getting some energy back over the last few days (am now 13 weeks exactly). Even stayed awake past 11pm last night (anything past 10pm has been unheard of over the past few months!). Sickness fading, despite occasional random bouts.

Now I suppose the countdown begins to our next scan -roll on 20 weeks! xxx

miarosemum · 14/10/2012 16:21

Mama/Sam thank you for the update..your baby really is a little fighter! Tattooed fab news on your double surprise, a friend of mine gave birth to twins (boy and girl) last week, natural birth and both weighing nearly 7lb!!

Well sciatica slightly better and just using the painkillers once at bedtime, seeing osteo again this week so hopefully will feel better. Prams prams prams!! Need to go road test a few, am liking the new icandy strawberry and like the bee but don't like the bee not having a carrycot, decisions!

kellestar · 14/10/2012 16:29

Miss muffett, have a look on mumsnet local Bath. I add all that I find on the events there.

One in Glastonbury soon, Timsbury (near radstock) in two weeks, frome next month all searchable on the NCT website, events, nearly newsales, if you enter your postcode will list local ones.

Also little pickles markets, google them, they are all over, but some in trowbridge and that area soon.
