chocoloco12 · 09/10/2012 17:10

Hi teapig, thank you, I have had a mc before but this time something is telling me it will all be fine! I swear I can feels movements now, maybe I am just imagining it!!

steph2412 · 09/10/2012 17:11

hi all, i had my consultant app today, went quite well i think. My results were back for downs syndrome risk was 1:100000 so happy with that, also bp had lowered a little. Got my app for 20 week scan on 27th nov looking forward to that. They have decided i will have meetings with the consultant at 28 and 34 weeks when i will have extra scans, not really sure of the reasons for the scans but will be aseeing lots of baby! Also will see themidwife every2 weeks from 28 weeks just to monitor bp, so all in all im happy. sorry for me me me post! Hope everyone is well, when are people starting to buy things?

usernamegoeshere · 09/10/2012 17:11

welcome chocoloco I hope you have a nice boring time of it from now on, A&E is always scary & horrible.

I think I am having my nuchal tomorrow at the epu, not completely sure yet but they received my referral today & told me to just show up at 9am & they will squeeze me in.

wishfulthinking1 · 09/10/2012 17:19

Hi all-
chocoloco- what a terrifying thing- glad everything seems ok.
aufanie - glad this scan brought you happier news.
steph - not really thinking about buying stuff yet. Not for superstitious reasons, more that we have a few family members / friends who'll be donating a load of stuff (lots of people seem very relieved to have somewhere to offload the things they don't need anymore!) so we're going to hold fire a little bit. With a bit of luck we'll just need to buy a travel system thingy and not much else. My DSIL has 3- youngest (and last she assures me!) is 8 months now, so they'll still need their pushchair thingy, but a load of stuff will come our way. I'm Internet browsing for prams already though!!

Teapig · 09/10/2012 20:13

I don't think we'll buy anything until much the nearer. Partly for superstitious reasons and partly to hold out to see what friends and family have to pass on. As this will hopefully be DC1 we have nothing so I'm going to be looking for some ebay bargains.

12+0, can't believed I've reached the week milestone!

EssexWelsh · 09/10/2012 20:20

Evening ladies. Cam I ask how big is everyone getting? My tummy is massive! Have put on 8lbs and it's all on my tummy! Not just bump, I'm a size 12 but with a normally jelly belly, so think something inside is pushing the jelly out! Also hard around the top beneath rib cage, honestly I feel massive, anyone else like this? Think people think I'm just being a fatty and letting it all hang out, nothing fits any more!

14+2

wishfulthinking1 · 09/10/2012 20:30

essex I haven't put on any weight yet but I can definitely feel the bump. When I'm lying down, especially first thing in the morning, if I out my hand just above my pubes I have a definite hard bump- think that must be baby. Dh can feel it too.

EssexWelsh · 09/10/2012 20:32

Mine isn't hard, even by my pelvic bone, just swidgy and massive all over my tummy!

kellestar · 09/10/2012 20:36

Just got back from our scan, saw a happy wiggly baby, but unfortunately no measurements or dates as baby was lying awkwardly. Told they'd book another appointment in a month to rescan for an official due date, would have to do the quad test for downs testing, which I've heard is unreliable and they gave me a leaflet and it's not a great option. Though on my notes they put they couldn't scan because of my high BMI, so was a bit upset over that. They said I was 13+4 roughly, so after being 9 weeks last scan when i thought i was 12 weeks, now they assumed I'd be 12 weeks and I'm now a week and a half ahead on scan again. It's too confusing. May book a private scan now though.

Sorry for being all me, will read in a bit and post some responses.

chocoloco12 · 09/10/2012 20:50

Kellestar- my dating scan was really unclear and had another scan two weeks later and the sonographer wrote 'view restricted due to adiposity' (which basically means my big fat belly got in the way of the baby!) i was upset too and I thought the images were really clear and she took all measurements!! Sad

toobreathless · 09/10/2012 22:23

Hello Ladies!

Haven't checked in for a while, real life keeps getting in the way!

Aufanie pleased to hear your second scan went so well. There is a big difference between 1 in 120 & 1 in 200.

Steph2412 we have the same Down's odds! Bet you're the same age as me.

Chocolocco think that comment about adiposity is rather rude! There are ways of putting it! I always write 'technically difficult procedure/examination' and people should be able to work the rest out! (not a radiographer)

I am spending this week glaring at my Doppler at work & thinkIng about trying to listen to the babies heartbeat. I have resisted so far.

I have only told one person at work & personnel. I've only been there since August and know they are whispering about my tum but enjoying winding the receptionists (mainly) up. When they ask outright I will tell them! Grin

I am definately feeling the baby move now which is lovely.

Right off to bed.

NotShortImFunSized · 09/10/2012 22:32

Trying unfortunately had to cash scratch card in today and put it towards the weeks shopping. Nothing exciting for me booooooo!

Jaqueline Yay dd buddies Grin My ex IL's (but bloody lovely IL's) live where you do. I head down there quite a lot. Tis lovely.

Kellestar I really feel for you on the fainting front. I have had several episodes in previous pregnancies thanks to my low bp. One in DC's nursery at morning drop off, as I came round one of the kids shouted "is she dead?!" Grin I hope you're feeling better now. And surely they should have booked you in for a scan in the next week or so to try again. That seems really shoddy on their part. I'd be as confused and annoyed as you. Oh and I'd definitely be booking a private scan! Glad you saw a wiggly little one in there though.

Aufanie That's brilliant news! What a relief for you. I hope you can start enjoying your pregnancy instead of worrying now.

Choco Welcome and congrats! We are due on the same day and if it's not a typo, then also due to give birth at the same hospital, which could be quite funny Grin Sorry to hear you had a scary weekend. I hope everything settles down for you now.

Steph Fab news on the scan front. It's such a relief getting past that first bit isn't it?! I'm not buying anything for a while as I don't yet want to make it "real" I'm still getting used to the idea that I'm actually having another baby! Also holding out until I find out the sex. Although I'm tempted to go for a surprise this time. I wish I could make my mind up Hmm

Username I have everything crossed that you get your scan in the morning. It's taken them sooooo long to sort anything out for you, grrrrr. Good luck Smile

My belly looks huge. A proper roundy bump. That's what having no stomach muscles left does for you thanks to other dc's! Really trying to hide it but it's getting harder by the day, especially after I've eaten. I look about 5 months once I've eaten a meal Blush No idea if I've gained any weight as my scales broke but judging by the amount I'm eating just to stop myself feeling sick then I'd say I have Grin

So tired, I stupidly stayed up until 2.30am last night (this morning!) doing xmas window shopping online. Been running around like a mad woman today too so I'm off to bed to collapse. Goodnight all.

aufaniae · 09/10/2012 22:34

Loubyloo and MrsJohnDeere - about holidays. I reckon holidays with friends and a baby should work fine, especially if you have an older one, as they should hopefully have a whale of a time with the other children, with fairly minimal effort from yourself, especially if you're in the kind of place the kids can run free in. Unless you have very high-maintenance friends, it'll be easier to look after children in a pack group as there will be so many grown ups on hand.

I really want to get my oldest friends together for a UK cottage holiday. We all live miles apart now, but have had children at the same time. We've tried to organise it the last couple of summers but people keep having more babies! I'll have the youngest next summer so I figure they'll have no excuse this year! (Oh, unless any more friends have more news to come I suppose Grin) Think I might spend a little time procrastinating looking at holiday cottages now!

edinfirst · 09/10/2012 22:36

Essex I am totally with you! I'm exactly the same, normally a 12 but carry a wee bit of weight round my tummy, and now feeling massive. I got very bloated very early so I do know it's not a real bump I've got, but like you I'm wondering whether the bump is pushing the existing blub out (and up)? I did eat a lot of carbs for weeks, so I've been joking that it's primarily roast potatoes, but if it really is just that I've put on loads of weight I'll be gutted. Don't think it helps that I'm a bit bunged up either-I can sometimes get a visible difference from a good trip to the loo (sorry TMI). Caved and got maternity jeans today-feels a bit fraudulent but man are they ever comfy!

Has anyone else got a bit of a sore back? Can't decide if mine is because of the bunged-up-ness or because I keep waking up only back. Had a look at pregnancy pillows but totally bamboozled by the selection, and wondering where DH is supposed to sleep as some of them are huge!

Hello to all the newbies, really nice to have new ladies on the thread.

Good luck to anyone with scans tomorrow.

aufaniae · 09/10/2012 22:53

Thanks everyone for the kind words. I am feeling much happier now :)

miarosemum and bunnygirl80 I hope you find a way to make the pain improve, that must be miserable Sad

jaqueline and kellestar I hope your SPD doesn't come back this time!

Thanks giddy for the PGP / SPD link. I had it last time, and have been getting pains in my hips this time which I thought were to do with previous hip pain and not pregnancy necessarily but I'm not so sure now. Was meant to go to the Dr about it today but totally forgot my appointment first thing this morning Blush as it hasn't been so bad this week. I'll have a good look at that site before my next appointment (which I won't miss!)

chocoloco welcome! Keeping fingers crossed for you :)

toobreathless you have amazing self-control! I'd be right on that Doppler!

EssexWelsh I'm a size 16-18 with a "jelly belly". I looked like I was 8 months pregnant before starting this pregnancy malarky. (I'm not exaggerating, I gave some clothes I had "grown" out of to my 8-months pregnant friend. They fitted her fine!). I wouldn't say my stomach is very much larger, but definitely firmer and sticking out more! I look very pregnant already. I'm going to be huge again and get all those "are you sure it's one?" and "when is it due again?" comments this time too!

Missmuffet28 · 10/10/2012 00:14

Hey ladies hope all are ok,
I have a long me post but wondered if someone had any advice?

I feel like I have had a crappy day with work, basically I have worked for this retailer in this same store for 8 years I started with a 15hr contract temporarily dropped to the minimum I could have which was 3.45hrs when I started self employed as a nail technician that was in 2008 was forced too sign a new contract after a few months for the 3.45hrs, and have been stuck with it ever since even after my self employment fell through in 2009 :(
So obviously I won't be entitled to maternity pay through said employer as I don't earn enough, however i asked my manager if I could have 5 hrs a week for just 13 weeks out of the next 25 so that I could apply for maternity from the government as my current contract again doesn't earn me enough for this! He said yep we'll sort something out write it down and give to ### who does the rotas, so I give him my paperwork 3 weeks go by so on the forth week I ask the member of staff in charge of recruiting all the new Xmas temps what hours were for grabs she says she will have a word at next meeting.
So today I ask her and she say basically manager says its a big fat no! He said no to giving me 1 measley hour a week for 13 weeks any 13 weeks he likes! Wtf?! Yet new Xmas temps are being offered 12 hr a week contracts! I feel so let down and pissed off and in the dark as he hasn't said anything to me but I'm too afraid to ask as he makes me cry every time I spk to him :'( I phoned HR but they said I need to go back to him and ask to re-discuss as they advise to try and settle things informally but there are more formal ways if I don't get any where, I just don't know what to do I know it won't be a lot of money but we don't really have spare money in our house and approx £100 a month could be the difference between sinking and floating.
It's really got me down today and to top it all off I've spent the last two days building flat packs wardrobes etc and taking apart a huge cabin bed and shifting it all downstairs with my mum whilst dp has sat and played wow on the computer and now I'm feeling really sore all over :(

Well in need of sympathy :(

Missmuffet28 · 10/10/2012 00:14

13+1 as its now Wednesday!

miarosemum · 10/10/2012 03:36

Well here I am wide awake again middle of nite, GP diagnosed sciatica as pain is one sided as pgp tends to be on both sides, prescribed co-dydramol to take, so just using at nite when pain is worst but had 2 tabs 2 hours ago and pain is not going and can't take anymore for 2 hours!! So lying here in spare bedroom so I don't keep dp awake, with hot water bottle. Have been referred as urgent to nhs physio but in meantime went to see an osteopath this eve which was great, really felt the sort tissue on my bum which he massaged really well, going for a session nxt week too. Sorry for me me post but just need to let off steam somewhere

AuntyDiluvian · 10/10/2012 03:56

Hi EssexWelsh- yes me! I'm behind you at 11 weeks but my normal jelly belly has been expanding and it's either the extra gluttony and added sloth, or there's something under the fat displacing it! Pretty sure I'm never going to be neatly-bumped.

AuntyDiluvian · 10/10/2012 04:06

And heartfelt sympathy for both missmuffet and miarose- good luck dealing with bosstwat muffet, and mia, hope you feel better enough to get some sleep soon and get a great physio too.

LikeCandy · 10/10/2012 06:43

Good morning Ladies!

Essex you are not alone - none of my normal trousers fit now. I've bought one pair of maternity trousers and I have a couple of pairs of baggy jeans that I can squeeze into. I've definitely grown out sideways as well as in front. V obvious in the mornings and after I've eaten! Most of my tops are baggy and I usually wear DHs jumpers in the winter so I'm sure it'll still be a while before people notice!

I got my trisomy21 results: 1:25,000. DH opened the letter whilst I was at work, I know he's been worrying!

I should be getting ready for work (start in 50mins!) but it's too cold to get out of bed. Going to rush to the shower...

15+0!

MrsJohnDeere · 10/10/2012 06:47

Huge sympathies for all those in pain and having a hardtime with idiot employers and DPs at the moment. Last thing you need.

I've got a very obvious bump now and am still only 11 weeks. Disguising it is getting harder and harder. Going to try and buy some new trousers today that actually fit.

shomes · 10/10/2012 08:37

14.5 today, somedays feel movement but other days not! Have moved my midwife appt forward as was scheduled for 26th and I would be 17 weeks so wanted it at 16 weeks. Being a bit neurotic as previous mc but just want to hear heartbeat at 16 weeks not wait til 17!
Feeling a lot of stretching/ sharp pain in uterus which I hope is it growing, just can't help feeling nervous if u know what I mean.

Dxxxxxxxx

chocoloco12 · 10/10/2012 08:49

Wow there are so many of you, its going to take me forever to catch up! Thank you for all your well wishes, have stopped bleeding now so hopefully that?s a good thing.

Hope everyone is well, Sorry for those of you in pain, I really hope it improves for you soon.

Steph- the only thing we need to buy is a double buggy, which will be a challenge in itself but I will probably wait a while and do some research. Have everything else from DD1 which is pretty handy, only a few pinky things maybe to replace if it?s a boy!

Not short- nope not a typo we are due same day and same hospital!! Hopefully they will both be on time then that would be funny! Think we will go for a surprise this time, need something to get me through the labour! only 2 more scans to get through, but it will be very hard not to ask. Did you find out for your others?

Feeling huge too, normally size 16-18 so im right with you aufaniae looking like I was 8 months pregnant before haha! And getting bigger by the day! Weve got so long to go still!

Edin- my back is getting a little sore in the mornings, need to stop sleeping on my back, not only that it makes me snore like a trooper! In the way of a pregnancy pillow, ive got a really long and thin one which was really good,, you could tuck it in everywhere! (think it was from argos) and don?t remember it takin up too much room although a few times I did catch dp having a snuggle with it!!

Missmuffet- hope you manage to sort things at work, unbelievable that being there dfor 8 years counts for nothing, what an asshole your boss is! and take it easy- no more flat packing!!
