chocoloco12 · 10/10/2012 08:56

oh and toobreathless thanks for that- i thought it was rude too, its never been written on any of my other notes from previous pregnancy or this one and ive had 3 scans already! p.s crack out the doppler, you know want too! Grin

NotShortImFunSized · 10/10/2012 09:03

Candy they're fab results! I hope mine come back ok. Nuchal was ok but still waiting to hear about bloods.

Shomes I don't think the worry ever stops when you're pregnant. It's good they let you change your appointment. Hope they let you hear heartbeat to put your mind at ease.

Choco What are the odds on same DD and hospital hahaha?!! I didn't find out with my first 2 but did with the last 3. I think I'm too impatient and also I like having pink or blue about before baby gets here. Also nice for other kids to get to know him/her before they're here :) But I don't know, maybe the surprise would be great as this is most absolutely the last ever one!!

Mama1980 · 10/10/2012 09:16

Morning all sorry I don't have time to catch up sorry i will do so later. Am waiting to go to the hospital for my scan. Have thrown up twice this morning already Sad very very nervous I think because I'm still bleeding so much and haven't seen the baby for a week. Desperately wishing my partner would come have only heard from him once this week, I'm starting to really think there is no way back for us.
Anyway sorry for the moan but if you could all cross your fingers again I'd appreciate it. Smile

chocoloco12 · 10/10/2012 09:22

mama i will be thinking of you and keeping everything crossed, i have bled lots too, got to wait til monday to see bubba again. Sad

NotShortImFunSized · 10/10/2012 09:42

Mama I have fingers and everything else crossed all is ok for you today, a week can seem like forever in these circumstances. Sorry about your partner. I didn't realise you were having troubles Sad You never know things could change as time goes on. Thanks

chocoloco12 · 10/10/2012 09:53

notshort not sure on the odds of that haha did you have any of your others there?
It's hard isn't it, everything is so pink at home at the moment and would be nice to get things ready and maybe de-pink! With dd1 I had everything organised weeks in advance but I really want a suprise this time, sod the washing and organinising!! think you should do it with me, at least help me not to cave in!!
Do you have boys/girls? How old are they? Bit worried as my 2 will be quite close in age!

aufaniae · 10/10/2012 10:04

Mama keeping fingers crossed for you today. I'm sorry to hear you're having a tough time with your partner. What terrible timing Sad I hope you're getting lots of suport from your family and friends.

NotShortImFunSized · 10/10/2012 11:33

Choco you will be FINE with that age gap. It' can be hard work but you tend to just get on with it! Mine are 11, almost 9, 5, 4 and almost 3! There are 14 months between dc3 and 4 and there are 13 months between dc4 and 5. Jeez it was a mad few years haha! When last one was born I had a 2, 1 and nb. That was crazy. I've no idea or recollection of how managed. My eldest 2 are boys then girl then boy then girl Grin

I had the first 2 and last one at pembury but the old build. Other 2 were home births.

chocoloco12 · 10/10/2012 12:03

My god notshort and I thought I was crazy!! You must be superwomen! I shall be coming to you for tips!! Maybe you can help recommend a good buggy?! Were they planned home births? You don't fancy that again? So another girlie to even it out hehe

somewherebecomingrain · 10/10/2012 12:51

O.M.G notshorti'mfunsized. i would retire to bed and never get up if i had that many kids! I would go on strike! I would run away and disappear in Latin America!

mama good luck with your scan xxx

NotShortImFunSized · 10/10/2012 13:51

Choco yes I'm totally bonkers. I swear kids steal your sanity!
I bought the Phil & Teds Vibe. It was a life saver. Fab buggy. I used a Maclaren twin side by side with eldest 2 and it was a total pain. Too wide, steered to one side, whichever side heaviest child was on. Really didn't get on with it. I know Phil & Teds have newer different models out now so I'd go have a look around at them. Can deffo recommend them.

The home births, well there's a story! I had planned to have dc3 at home as had very straight forward previous births. I was only at hospital for 45mins before I delivered dc2 so thought a hb would be a good idea. Woke up 8 days past due date at 1.30am as needed the loo and realised I was having "Braxton hicks" har de har. They got stronger over the next hour and half by which point I'd rung labour ward but got the usual response of ring back when contractions are regular and every 5 mins. I told her I don't have regular contractions until I'm almost pushing but got a kind of yes dear reply! So gave up and got in bath. By 3.30 I was on phone telling them to send mw NOW! They said they'd let her know what was happening and send her out. Well by just after 4am I had dp on phone to 999 whilst he delivered dd. Mw had broken down on way. Second mw turned up about 5 mins after delivery followed by 2 paramedics and 2nd mw minutes later!!!

So yes planned but didn't go quite as expected. 2nd hb was much more relaxed with mw's present Grin

Somewhere you just described how I feel most days Wink

kellestar · 10/10/2012 13:57

chocoloco welcome! it was just the last straw for me with how I felt I was treated. I know I am overweight, but when they say that's the reason in the notes but to your face they say that it's a fine image but the baby is lying awkward.

empressmatilda or anyone else in the Bath/Bristol area, where did you have your private scan, am having trouble finding one.

aufanie that's a much better result. Glad they took the time with your scan.

mama1980 hope your scan goes ok. I'm sorry to hear your partner is being unsupportive, do you still have your brother and sister helping you out.

likecandy glad your results came in.

My 'bump' hasn't formed yet, but my flab cuddle has moved out and I feel quite uncomfy in my underbump maternity jeans. I've resigned myself to my maternity joggers, which are much softer at the waist and feel so comfy. This time I do need to invest in overbump jeans. I hate that I have to order them online, as I'm just an awkward shape and hate wasting my time returning things.

cookiewuk · 10/10/2012 14:15

Hi all this is my first post on this thread. I found out i was expecting no2 about a month ago after trying for 18 months. I calculate Im 12+1 today but my scan isn't until i will be 13+6, is that a bit late for an accurate nuchal scan? Maybe Im just being paranoid or impatient but has anyone else had a scan that late? Thanks :)

kellestar · 10/10/2012 14:58

cookie welcome. According to my scan yesterday I'm approx 13+4 and little one was in the wrong position for the scan, otherwise it wouldn't have been a problem.

usernamegoeshere · 10/10/2012 15:03

welcome cookie

Miarose that sounds terrible, I feel so bad for you.

I didn't have a great day. EPU told me to go between 9-11am this morning & they will try scan me, & I got to hospital at 10, but its a new unit & no signs were for it, so reception gave me directions & said it was inside the maternity building. But I got there & it wasn't, they sent back to a differnt place, this happened like 3 times before I found myself in antenatal, so I queued in there for about 20 minutes before being told I was in wrong place & sent to midwives. Midwives sent me on another mission around the grounds of the hospital & i found myself in the EPU at 11.15 & was told I was too late. So like any reasonable pregnant person I cried until they agreed to check my records.

So after all that they said they won't do nuchal at the EPU and gave me a form & sent me back to antenatal... I queued then for another 20 minutes then the receptionist tried to send me back to midwives but thankfully one of the better staff overheard & booked me a proper scan for 10.40 tomorrow morning.

It was a really bad experience, I thought antenatal care would be nice & that pregnant women would be happy, but instead it was disorganised & smelly and all the patients were as miserable & disorganised as the staff. Sure once I found a competent person it was good, but finding that one helpful person took me over 2 hours of standing around.

cookiewuk I will be 13+4 tomorrow when I get my nuchal, my GP told me that the latest they can do is 14+2.

Sorry for my really long rant!

13+3

kellestar · 10/10/2012 15:21

username ack that sounds really vile, can't believe they sent you around all the houses like that. Sometimes it's terrible how you are treated, glad you managed to get a sensible person and you've got an appointment for tomorrow.

Mama1980 · 10/10/2012 17:13

Hi thanks everyone scan went well baby was wiggling about happy as anything. Smile unfortunately I lost consciousness moving off the bed thingy- so am back in hospital overnight at least. Dr.s mentioned once again a termination as this isn't really going as well as they hoped, we're not quite at worst case scenario but a long way from best as well. I'm pretty sure you all know what I said to them by now.
Thanks yes my family are fabulous Smile my partner disagrees with my decision not to terminate this pregnancy so has pretty much abandoned ship.
So sorry this is all me me me but I'm not supposed to be using this only resting just wanted to update and thank you for the support again. I hope everyone is well xxx

HaveALittleFaith · 10/10/2012 17:25

Oh mama, two steps forward/one back?! I hope your BP settles do you can go home again. How difficult with your partner - I guess he's worried about the impact on your health? But still...I'm glad you have such an amazing support network around you.

username sorry you had such a rotten experience. I'm glad someone was helpful and I hope it's all ok tomorrow :)

I'm doing ok, only a week til the scan now! Feel way behind everyone else! 11+5 now.

Teapig · 10/10/2012 17:55

So pleased that your scan went well mama, that's such good news. Sorry you're back in hospital and the bleeding has continued but your little bean has stayed so strong I'm sure you'll have a little baby in your arms next year. Hope your DP gives you the support you need soon, he's probably worried for you and showing it the wrong way.

Good scan news here too. We had our 12 week scan in there and saw a beautiful little baby! So amazing. Baby was lazing about so had to be given a nudge to change position, amazing to see! All major bits seemed to be present and correct so fingers crossed all is ok.

Apparently my nuchal measurement was fine so just got to wait for the blood results. Feeling much more relaxed but keen to get the combined results. I thought I was 12+1 today but apparently I'm 13+0 so my EDD is now 17th April. deekey and sugarfiend it looks like we're buddies.

username so sorry you had such a horrible day it sounds really stressful. Glad you have an appointment fixed now, keeping my fingers crossed it goes swimmingly.

Knittingnovice · 10/10/2012 18:21

Sorry, RL realty catches up with me and I really don't get chance to read and post. Can't remember what I've read either, damn pg brain!!

My scan is getting ever closer, next Tuesday, so 6 days to go, am telling people it's a ct scan for my oncology follow up, think there will be a lot of shok next week!!

Am 12 weeks today and am sure I can feel movement, never felt it this early before.

Am in maternity bras, but nothing else as I lost 2 dress sizes borough cancer & chemo so am just wearing he bigger stuff, it's quite nice as being 6 foot tall maternity clothes are thin on the ground & I only have 3 pairs of maternity trousers that are not work trousers, being a sahm now means I need to get more but am financially limited Grin

Am going to try & keep up, but don't hold out too much hope!!

kellestar · 10/10/2012 18:45

Rather emotional end to my day, I found my old chicken having a stroke, she's 10 years old, led a very happy life and I couldn't put her out of her misery. DH was home shortly after I found her and he did it for me, we are both blubbing. She has been such a good chicken around DD, letting her stroke her. We now have 3 hens left. Sad

Giddypants · 10/10/2012 18:55

Evening ladies, mama so sorry your back in hospital, I hope things improve so you can get home again soon.

Hello cookie and welcome.

username how irritating, but glad you got an appointment in the end.

Just had a cheeky Chinese (well Cantonese) salt and pepper prawns with soft noodles and BBQ sauce mmm yummy! Naughty but needed.
I'm feeling much better, following my cold, I can breathe again! Just got an annoying tickley cough that keeps me up most of the night, I've ended up on the sofa two night running, poor DH he comes down to keep me company and then is tired for work.
DS is still suffering with it, and is still very cuddly.

Giddypants · 10/10/2012 19:00

Sorry about your chicken kellestar it's awful when you find an animal in distress, I know it's awful but glad your DH was able to put her out of her misery.
My cousin has rescue chickens, used to be caged egg layers, forgotten the right word, damn pg brain!

sugarfiend · 10/10/2012 19:19

Thanks all for the suggestions of saline spray - I didn't realise we could use those. I picked some up today, after spending the entired day sleeping yesterday. Fingers crossed it helps!

angeltattoo - OMG yes the spots! Mine are hideous - I#ve always had them but previously used a lotion prescribed from the doctors - it's the only thing that has ever worked and of course it is "not recommended" during pregnancy because they can't ethically test it :(
Have you found anything that helps - that we can actually use?

aufaniae - I'm a bit late responding but that's great news about the risk :) Plus you got to see the little tinker again!

chocoloco12 - That sounds really scary! I hope you're not dwelling on it, afterall the little one was kicking away, oblivious to the worry they've caused.

steph2412 - If you don't mind me asking, how high is your bp? My consultant has told me to take low dose asprin (for bp plus considering family history of small/prem babies), have you been told to take that too?

Missmuffet - Some managers really take the biscuit don't they! I hope he agrees without causing you too much stress having to go through it formally with HR. What difference does it make to him really if you cover the hours or if a temp does!

username - That really is terrible treatment - do you think it is worth sending in an informal complaint? Hope your scan goes well tomorrow!

Mama - Oh dear, what a mixed bag of news. Your partner is clearly worried about you, that must be where that is coming from. I'm sure he wants to support you but doesn't know how to do it for the best. Sometimes things are worse for the people around us looking on than they are for us ourselves.

Has anyone bought any maternity jeans yet? I can still fit into my normal ones, just, now that the bloating has gone down a little but can't stand the feeling of anything tight on my stomach anymore. Are the ones at new look any good? They're about the only ones with short legs I've managed to spot so far but I can only get them online as the shops near here seem to have an almost non-existant selection
Will overbump ones be too big now? Do I really just buy my usual size, or they vanity sizes? Jeans shopping is bad enough usually!

sugarfiend · 10/10/2012 19:22

Ooops, and even with that epic post I managed to forget...

13 weeks today...
