Many congratulations slightlytipsy, beautiful names too.

Birdies · 30/10/2012 12:41

Wow slightly, congratulations! The first babies of the group! Love the names as well

BuntyCollocks · 30/10/2012 13:12

Congratulations, slightly, and beautiful names!

Tugstonia · 30/10/2012 13:33

Congratulations slightly!! That's v exciting. Hope you and all your babies can go home soon.

How are you doing Bunny? Hope you're ok. I was offered steroids when I was in hospital last week and was very unsure about them, then did some research and decided I would take them, but then the second doctor I saw said I didn't need them as risk of giving birth in the next week was low. Apparently they work in 24 hours and are effective for a week but mature baby's lungs by equivalent of 3 weeks. If I have any more bleeding and end up in hospital again I will take them if offered. When are you seeing consultant again?

Hope you're ok too apple. Haven't had that but if it was tops of legs could it be nerve pain of some sort?

Been feeling v anxious and paranoid in the last few days. Mostly because movements seem to have changed from lots of strong kicks to more muffled squirms. I'm forever getting out the doppler to check the heartbeat.

Birdies · 30/10/2012 13:43

tugs my movements are different too - more like pushes than kicks and sometimes I can feel a little bottom or foot or something sticking out! It's just cos there's less room in there now. Check out the count the kicks pages - as long as you get 10 movements in 2 hours at the same time of say the it's fine (you pick a time when baby is usually busy). Don't rely on your doppler, better to count the kicks and go by them.

www.countthekicks.org/how-to-count-the-kicks/

apple things that go away like that usually aren't cause for concern. At least you can get some reassurance tomorrow though.

Confession time - I've just eaten loads if dairy milk and am now working my way through a bag of sweets (that I bought for any trick or treaters Blush)

Birdies · 30/10/2012 13:44

Ps tugs I even asked a very similar question on here the other day and everyone reassured me, I think it's very normal for them to change

Tugstonia · 30/10/2012 14:06

Thanks Birdies. Sorry I missed your post the other day. Sounds v similar to me with pushes/bubbles more than strong kicks. Also thinking about it at my scan last week baby was breech and I'm feeling everything very low down, which is why I'm not getting the rippling belly higher up that was distracting me so much! Will also start counting kicks properly. Am seeing consultant tomorrow so will mention it then too.

allchik · 30/10/2012 14:11

Oh wow tipsy thats lovely,if I have a girl Im calling her Eleni too! :) x x x

bealos · 30/10/2012 14:20

Snap Birdies I've just been working my way through a large bag of maltesers....

SquealyB · 30/10/2012 14:49

Just had a weird pregnancy lunch, hummus, carrot sticks and then ryvita with cottage cheese and lots of tabasco!

Maybe my body is craving vitamins and calcium after my "nutritious" breakfast of 2 (that's right 2) chocolate croissants.

bealos · 30/10/2012 15:14

Good work squealyB I love that sort of food too.

However tonight brings me the local pub quiz and their Pieminster pies. I think I am making up for the stage that lies shortly in the future where your stomach is so squashed you can't bear to eat much at a time (I just know that this shall be at Christmas!)

SquealyB · 30/10/2012 16:17

bealos pub quiz and pies (especially pieminster pies) sounds like a fine way to spend an evening!

Pascha · 30/10/2012 17:39

Many congratulations slightly! Beautiful names. I considered Alexander for a boy. Hope all goes well for you all.

I had pepperoni pizza and garlic bread for lunch and gaviscon for pudding Grin.

Birdies · 30/10/2012 18:14

pascha that made me lol! I tend to follow chocolate etc with a rennie or two!

Complicated24 · 30/10/2012 19:01

Huge congrats slightly. I too love the names. Wow, it is all feeling very real now. We will all get to meet our babies soon. Looking forward to starting NCT classes so I can figure out what I'm actually supposed to do in labour other than swear loudly of course!

Loved the Gaviscom and Rennie posts!

octanegirl · 30/10/2012 19:20

Wow slightly, that's amazing! Best wishes to you and your new family. I'm 30 weeks tomorrow, countdown well and truly under way....

godzookey · 30/10/2012 20:24

congrats tipsy -lovely news

complicated -OMG listen to this, I was actually barged out of the way by a PREGNANT woman to get a standing space on the tube at green park station last night!!!!
I was sooo shocked, i didn't have time to say anything before the doors had closed and the tube was off but i would sooo have called the cheeky mare out on that one!!

I had my first nct class last night - was shattered by the time i got home, given that 9:30 is now a late night for me these days, anyway, was regalling the other women there about this and one woman told me that not only had she requested a seat on the tube the other day but everyone just buried their heads in the Metro/Kindle/ipad and IGNORED her

I've heard it all now - I don't have a baby on board sticker and am not going to bother getting one as i think it's bloody obvious now that i'm PG

Makes me so angry - so i feel your pain, god knows how i'm gonna get through the next 6 weeks!!

OK rant over now...

godzookey · 30/10/2012 20:27

btw squealy - 2 choccy croissants is nothing, i've just had for dinner:

2 x donuts
1 x dark kit kat
2 x wholemeal rolls
half a carton of covent garden soup!

finally satiated and catching up on last night's Made In Chelsea which i missed on account of first nct class!!

happyhow · 30/10/2012 20:45

Congrats slightly!! That's amazing news! I'm glad the two in hospital are doing well and it won't be long before they're at home with you

Thankfully I drive to work to so don't need to worry about people barging me on the tube but I don't think I'd like it! I love London but it's a much slower pace up here! I used to walk but got a parking space due to my pregnancy - it's only temporary but I'm not going to complain at the moment.

We put our flat on the rental market last thing on Friday and have had 4 viewings this evening! 2/3 of them are definitely interested so hopefully that will be one less thing to think about soon. We have more people wanting viewings over the next couple of days too. TOTALLY didn't realise how fierce the rental market is up here. I was cursing hubby yesterday for arranging so many viewings tonight when the place was a tip yesterday but 2-3 hours of concentrated and ruthless tidying/throwing out, 6 binbags, 2 beanbags and 2 carrier bags later, the flat looks great!! Going to try and keep up the momentum over the next couple of weeks so that we're only moving the things we need to.

I'm off for a very long soak in the bath and an early night to try and recover from last night's stress and 2 very busy days back at work!!

Hope everyone else is doing well... xx

Lora1982 · 30/10/2012 20:48

ok so im still measuring massive. im 30 wks and they measured 36. so apparently il be sent ffor yet another scan (bloody car park costs!!) i wondered if when we know its actually baby thats big and not fluid wether the baby is as developed as a 36wk one or wether hes just a fattie. apparently it just means a fattie. do you think theyl make me go into labour early?

ive figured i need a bump support so im going to try the carriwell one solely on the advice from earlier :D im also going to try a new thing ive found for back pain its called postureplast and four £4 its worth a go i reckon.

octanegirl · 30/10/2012 22:58

Gosh Lora! I'm curious as to what they say....

Is anyone else feeling down about near constant pain? Sacroiliac, hip, right leg, ribs if I sit too long. It's quite debilitating and still 2 months to go....

allchik · 31/10/2012 08:30

Hi lora i know a few people who measured huge but had fairly small babies, just had extra fluid. My nephew was estjmated to be 11pounds due to sisters bump (measured over) but ended up 9.3,still big but not as big as expected iyswim....Im measuring 2 under at the mo,hope that doesnt mean I go over lol!
Would love to know when he/she is going to arrive!xx

djvesi · 31/10/2012 08:30

Bunny ? I had steroids with DS at 33 weeks. He turned out perfectly and didn?t need ventilation after caesarian a few days later. Sounds like you really need to take a break and take it really easy now.

Brug ? how very frustrating! I have to agree that its SOOO much easier when everthing matches. Well worth getting a pram base and seat matching. We?ve got a CHICCO trio from DS which is fab, has a bassinet (also a reclining car seat), pod car seat, and pram, which is super convenient. Its no good for rough pramming here in the winter, but we have a big off road pram with bicycle tires for that.

Slightly Tipsy ? WOW! Congratulations, although so sorry you have to go the preemie route. The best thing is that you?ll be so happy when they finally come home!

Lora 1982 ? When I had DS at 34 weeks, I was in a room with a young girl that had a baby at the same prematurity. Her 34 week baby was 3.5kg, whilst my DS was 1.8kg! We?re all different. The biggest delay both of us encountered was that the sucking reflex doesn?t get really strong until they reach what would have been their full-term date. Quite remarkable really.

I had a scan two days ago, I?m now 28+4, estimated 1300g (53rd percentile), head up near my ribs and bum down near my cervix. Found that my placenta is anterior, only 1.5cm above my cervix, so I?m going to take things really easy to try to avoid any bleeding.

Every time you guys write what you?re eating you make me want what you?re having! Today I?m going the toasted bagel with avocado, cream cheese, a fried egg and lettuce..mmmmmmmmm (maybe x2) [hsmile]

Tugstonia · 31/10/2012 11:50

Hoorah we won a bargainous brand new buggy on eBay! Went for a Baby Jogger City Mini in the end over the Bugaboo Bee because of some dodgy reviews of the Bee. It's the first piece of kit we've bought! Better get a move on with the rest of it now.

Godz and Complicated my tactic for always getting a seat on the tube/train is to just stare at those sitting down and sigh a lot and eventually someone (almost always a woman) gives up their seat. I also wear a baby on board badge just to ram the point home [hgrin]. At this point I think I would just ask for a seat if I had to, sod standing up and getting jostled. Can't believe you got barged by a pregnant woman godz! Rude. A few years ago I was physically pulled off a tube I had squeezed onto by a crazy woman. She was obviously in a rush.

Brugmansia · 31/10/2012 12:53

I'm quite fortunate as London commutes go as I live more centrally than I work so commute against the rush so always get a seat.

I was out on a Saturday night a few weeks ago though in central London and we were getting the tube back late when it was packed full of drunken people. DP, also quite drunk at the time, started loudly suggesting someone may like to provide a seat for a pregnant lady. One person offered, but an elderly man on crutches got on at the same time so I made him take it and was by that point too embarrassed by DP to try and persuade anyone else to give up their seat.
