Morning goldie. Welcome.

Berniebennett · 28/10/2012 08:27

I have had a very lovely weekend, me and my DP (or DH I should say now) got married on Friday! Very quiet ceremony with a lovely stay in a spa hotel for the weekend, we will celebrate with a big ceremony in a couple of years time when things are all settled. Now looking forward to moving on Saturday before I relax for 10 weeks before bump arrives.

I hope everyone else has had a lovely weekend?x

salt1 · 28/10/2012 08:34

congrats .... i would do almost anything for a stay in a spa hotel right now x

Pascha · 28/10/2012 09:47

Wow congratulations Bernie! I would also love a stay in a spa hotel doing nothing but wallowing in the pool and hot tub followed by a foot massage and good food.

My day today includes decluttering my wardrobe instead. I have to cut it down by a third to half to fit in the space as we took it apart and reassembled it in our bedroom yesterday minus the corner bit and fitted an internal set of drawers as my chest is going to stay in the little room for the baby. I am going to cull my shoes down to less than 10 pairs including boots and get rid of 90% of my bags. I really do have too much stuff and loads of it is never going to be worn again. Luckily DH is takiing DS to look at trains so I will be child free for a few hours.

Complicated24 · 28/10/2012 11:16

Bernie Huge congrats. Such a lovely time of year to get married as Autumn colours are gorgeous. I too had a winter wedding and loved every second of day.

Pascha Hope your decluttering day is successful. I really need to do that too as got way too much stuff. I have so many plans for my maternity leave which I start on 26 November, but am beginning to panic slightly that I am leaving things too late and really ought to start getting organised now.

Godzookey so sorry I didn't post anything about Earls Court Baby Show last night. I was absolutely wiped out and fit for nothing. Hope you have a successful day. We actually didn't buy as much we thought we would as the pram we wanted (Jane Trider) wasn't any cheaper at Baby Show and some things were cheaper on Amazon. We took IPad with us, so were checking out prices when going round show. However, we both found it really useful as now have a much clearer idea of what we want and don't want and got to talk to some brilliant experts. We did the free Red Cross baby first aid course and have signed up for their half-day course which will hopefully make us feel more confident parents if there were a medical emergency. We also bought some gorgeous baby clothes from M&S as they had a 20% discount. Came home and ordered Jane Trider travel system from our local baby show. It is a gorgeous red three wheeler and I had a lump in my throat when seeing DH pushing it found shop. He also tried on baby carriers at show. DH is in military so have seen him wearing lots of rucksacks, but seeing him wear a baby carrier brought tears to my eyes.

We're off to see new James Bond film this afternoon. Can't wait! Enjoy your Sundays everyone.

Complicated24 · 28/10/2012 11:18

When list is next updated could you put my due date for 31/12/12 please as have been told I will be induced at 39 weeks which is New Year's Eve. Will be told exact induction date at next Consultant's appt. Could have a baby this year. Exciting but very scary!!!

AppleCrumples · 28/10/2012 15:17

Ooh complicated you could have a new year baby! Hope you enjoy James bond.

bernie congratulations! Hope you enjoyed your day

Welcome goldie

if anyone is updating list could you add my age? Am 32 cheers x

godzookey · 28/10/2012 18:46

Evening everyone,.

Bernie wow congratulations - soooo lovely, enjoy your stay at the spa hotel.

complicated - no worries, i got back an hour ago and am shattered but did get our travel system there as MIL bought it for us and we got a bit of a discount - the UppaBaby vista so v happy with that

I also bought a pregni pillow and a pair of jeans from mamajeanius. I also bought a couple of boxes of tommee tippee nipple pads as they were going quite cheap.

especially appreciating the pillow, am using it as we speak!

Skyfall is amazing - agree it's the best Bond although my favourite actual Bond has to be Sean Connery, to me Daniel Craig doens't even come close.

We're starting NCT tomorrow - am still annoyed that classes are on Monday night - i'll be KNACKERED for the rest of the week!!

BuntyCollocks · 28/10/2012 19:55

Congrats, bernie! glad you had a lovely day!

Welcome g0ldie

I have the sadness. One of my stretchmarks from DS's pregnancy has started to stretch. There is now a pink edge to it :(

Fairly sure it's because madam has a strong preference for my right side and is constantly tucked up there. It is exactly where her bum/leg stretches the skin. At least it's only one for now

6 weeks on Friday until my last day at work, assuming she's not early please PLEASE COME EARLIER but not before 37 weeks!

I can't wait.

BuntyCollocks · 28/10/2012 19:56

Oh, also saw skyfall. Absolutely the best bond film ever, and Daniel Craig is my bond

Complicated24 · 28/10/2012 20:32

Well done Godzookey. I love the Uppababy too but we decided we needed off roader in end.

Bunty baby loves my right side too and it's head or bum (can't work out which) is usually tucked up near ribs.

Skyfall was amazing. Baby kicked all the way through it! Daniel Craig was his usual brilliant self and Javier Bardem was fantastic too.

CreepyCrawly · 28/10/2012 20:59

Congratulations bernie!

One stretch mark Bunty?! My tummy is absolutely covered and has been since pretty early on. I look like a tiger! Grin

I have an appointment with a consultant on Thursday as I was measuring big at my 28 week appointment. My gtt results were all good though. Does anyone know what I should expect?

Hope everyone has had a lovely weekend!

happyhow · 28/10/2012 21:31

Congrats bernie and welcome goldie!!

I've had a very productive week of shopping and dress altering! Have managed to get quite a few bits for Xmas plus a few things for Baby but hubby is still being funny about that so having to hide them... My mum liked the nursery furniture that we like (she's paying for it) so going to get that ordered soon but have it held back til after the baby is born. Just need to order the travel system now. My mum has also altered a dress for me for my bro's wedding so that I will actually look quite good! Grin

Today we managed to choose bathroom tiles, order sofas, choose furniture for the spare room, choose a dining table and play with kitchen designs. Get the keys to the house on Friday (although we're out on Friday night and away for the weekend) but "Project Changing Rooms" will commence on Monday and needs to be finished within 4 weeks as hubby has put our flat on the rental market to start from Dec... There will be a lot of tidying/throwing out/packing happening this week...Hmm

Lora1982 · 28/10/2012 21:34

creepy i measured big at 28 weeks too and was sent for a scan i was just told he'll be a fattie but i dont think it makes much difference.

my stretchmarks are grim i have loooaadss.

anyone else really finding it hard to sleep hips get so painful. i dont want to whinge because this pg has been quite easy compared to other ppls do im kind of lucky with just my heartburn and crap sleep

AppleCrumples · 28/10/2012 21:48

I'm having trouble sleeping. Baby thinks lights out means party time and seems to be using my bladder as a trampoline, which hurts and means I have to pee every 5 mins! Oh the joys!

Wow happy that's a lot to get done! I can barely manage to keep on top of all the housework nevermind anything else. Have abandoned any hopes of keeping on top of it all through half term.

CreepyCrawly · 28/10/2012 21:56

I can totally sympathise with the hip pain! Some nights are worse than others, and the pillow between my legs makes my knees ache. But I also don't like whinging because I am absolutely loving being pregnant.

A fatty baby sounds fine to me! My sister had two 9lb+ babies and they didn't feel too fragile!

happyhow · 28/10/2012 22:14

Try sleeping with a pillow under your hip/bump too - helped enormously with my hip pain and I've been getting pretty good sleeps since. I sleep with a pillow at my head, a pillow under my bump/hip, a pillow under my feet and my dreamgenii one at bump and between legs. Has made SUCH a difference... Didn't get any benefit from the extra hour last night as kept waking up though but back to school tomorrow so hoping tonight will be better...

I've been lucky this week with regards to shopping etc - everything has just seemed to fit into place and I've been very decisive for once! Also, my SPD has really let up while I've been on holiday so I've been taking FULL advantage!! I'm doing what I can before it decides to prevent me doing anything again...

newbie6 · 29/10/2012 01:00

Arrrgghhh......cannot sleep :(

SpringFlowers · 29/10/2012 02:37

Me either Newbie...

octanegirl · 29/10/2012 08:51

Ahhh girls I hear you on the insomnia and hip pain. I keep waking up in the middle of the night too.

Is anyone else ridiculously gassy? I could not stop burping all day yesterday! Awful!!!

bealos · 29/10/2012 09:03

Gassy + nosebleeds + hip pain = check

The DJing at the 40th birthday party went well, cheers! Have some excellent playlists now too.

Went to a chiropractor at the weekend as the 'buttock pain' was getting too much. She said my pelvis was out of line - one of my legs even longer than the other because of this. Easy to happen in pregnancy as everything is so soft. She did some manipulation and definitely feeling less painful. Will keep following it up I think with further (scarily expensive, but seemingly worth it) appointments.

bealos · 29/10/2012 09:32

Found this old thread on Mumsnet about 'SPD - chiro or osteo' which is quite helpful. Have spoken to my midwife who is going to refer me to 121 physio too.

Birdies · 29/10/2012 10:00

Wow you've all been busy this weekend! Loving the amount of shopping going on. We bought our bugaboo donkey (feel skint now) and like alot of you, i also did a lot of house tidying and decluttering - maybe nesting is setting in early!

Two questions for you:

  1. as we're all only a few weeks away from meeting our babies, what are your rules on visitors? Would you have people to stay? I remember last time walking around with my bra/boobs hanging out as i tried to get used to breastfeeding (!) so having people stay just wouldn't work. But DHs family all live miles away so would need somewhere to stay....

  2. anyone else who's about 30 weeks - I still get lots of movements, especially in the evenings, but I wouldn't say that they are stronger than a few weeks ago. Are they meant to get stronger? I had an anterior placenta last time so I don't know what's 'normal' this time round.

Have a lovely week everyone

PS welcome goldie, never too late to join us!

Pascha · 29/10/2012 11:22

Hey Birdies movements seem to be much more of the squirmy rolling flobbling around variety now and less of the sharp kicks and punches. 10pm Regular as clockwork whether I'm up or in bed, Widget starts rockin & rollin! I have alien heads in my tummy Shock This one is much more active than Weeble ever was.

On the other point. No way would I agree to anyone staying in my house with a newborn! People who want to visit from far away can pay for a travelodge or bunk down with relatives. Their choice. I don't care about the boobs out thing, they can like it or lump it. Luckily all my family are an easy drive away so not a problem with wanting to stay.

Just had the rather horrible task of getting hold of DH to inform him his nan (dad's mum) has died at home. Her carer went in this morning and found her on the floor, carer rang MIL to let her know and MIL couldn't get hold of PIL on the mobile (DH and his dad work together) so she rang and asked me to try email and text as well and I managed to get through on DH's phone. They've cancelled work for the day and gone to sort the police/coroner/undertakers out.

Glad we took DS to see her a couple of weeks ago now.

mrsbugsywugsy · 29/10/2012 12:03

Pascha thanks for the info on percentiles - it makes sense now!

Welcome Goldie & congratulations Bernie!

Godz My antenatal classes aren't till January! I better hope the baby isn't early. I had the choice of November or January and I was worried I would have forgotten everything if I did the earlier one (I'm not due till end of Jan though). Let us know how they go.

I'm also having trouble sleeping. I am mostly woken up by my back hurting. Does anyone have any suggestions for pillow positioning, to help my upper back rather than my hips? I used to sleep flat on my back but now that is too uncomfortable. I can get to sleep on my left but wake up after a few hours with my upper back aching from (I think) being in that position for too long.

bealos glad your DJ set went well, did you manage to stay up all night? I am normally in bed by ten these days, but I went out on Saturday and stayed till 1 [hshock], but felt knackered all day sunday as a result.

Birdies I'd personally say no visitors to start with, but I live in a small 2 bed flat and it's cramped when we have people to stay at the best of times. I am lucky as my sister lives close by and so my parents can come down and stay with her when they come to visit after the birth. Otherwise they'd be in the travelodge [hgrin]
