bunny you poor thing. Dr signed me off to do a 4 day week as I can't sleep due to restless legs syndrome. Your work situation sounds a million times worse. My dr was lovely about it and told me to go back at any time if I was still struggling. Hope your GP just as understanding. Good luck.

Bealos my disco legs want to be at your party tonight. One leg is jigging away whilst I type this! Hope it's going we'll and playlist got everyone up dancing.

Bunny222 · 25/10/2012 22:53

Thanks for all your feedback ladies. Goodto know you think its not acceptable too. Was expecting DH to be up in arms over it but he just said to ignore it and not to upset myself. I will consider going to Docs if I am still feeling stressed.

natnat sorry to hear youre in a similar situation, if only we didnt have to work! knuckingfackered youre welcome to my tubigrip had a break from it today on account of it being so uncomfortable. Can your midwife refer you? Or can you contact thr physio dept at your local hospital for one?

Has everyone had their whopping couch jab yet? Really must get mine booked ...

salt1 · 26/10/2012 08:43

worst nights sleep ever, has anyone else experienced rib flare?

bealos · 26/10/2012 09:40

Re maternity support bands... I bought a Blooming Marvellous one from Mothercare and found it really uncomfortable. So bought one from Carriwell and it's great.

Brugmansia · 26/10/2012 09:44

I was wondering about bump bands. I've been getting pain under my bump at the front of my pelvis, particularly when walking. It kicks in even if I'm walking slowly and a short distance. Would a bump band help?

Hormonalhell · 26/10/2012 11:17

Allchik are you having your baby at LGI? I seem to remember you living in Leeds and German market will be on Millenium Square. I am going to Clarendon/LGI so maybe we'll be there same time Grin

katolla · 26/10/2012 11:48

Just carried a cello and a box of full ring binders over from the next building and up stairs. Has the part where we're not supposed to lift heavy stuff started yet? :|

SquealyB · 26/10/2012 12:14

katolla the part started started with conception.... Be sure to get someone to give you a hand in future. Women in general, not just pregnant ones, should avoid carrying heavy objects as can do serious long term damage to things like pelvic floor (TMI but my poor mum has a prolapsed utereus which the doctors say is directly related to carrying too many heavy things). So please be careful.

I'm afraid I have no advice to offer on the bump band front. I too am sleeping pretty badly though as I wake up every time I turn over.

octanegirl · 26/10/2012 12:36

My midwife recommended a Serola belt. It sits around your pelvis and supports everything - it's recommended for SPD (which I have) and is a proper physio belt. Its very comfy! You can sleep in it if you want. Was about £35.

newbie6 · 26/10/2012 13:05

salt1 I am also suffering from sore ribs and have been for past 4 weeks. I could honestly cry today as I am so tired. I have not been able to get a decent night sleep for about 3 weeks now :(

Hope yours gets better soon.

X

BuntyCollocks · 26/10/2012 14:03

Also not sleeping well. Having awful nightmares at the moment, and just can't get comfy. This is the part I really hate. Hurry up, 37 weeks, then I can start wishing baby out!! only six weeks to go, sigh

AppleCrumples · 26/10/2012 14:10

Hello all

katolla agree with what squealy said. I have been really careful this time after I had a big bleed at 6 weeks and gp told me off as when it happened I had been carrying Hoover upstairs and doing lots of housework.

I'm afraid I don't know anything about bump bands. I'm also not sleeping very well, bump aches a bit in the night and bad heartburn although the prescription strength gaviscon is actually helping.

Really feel for those having a crap time at work, at least maternity leave isn't too far off now.

Went and picked up loads of crafty bits today so the kids can make lots of things over half term (most probably a mess Grin ). Honestly not looking forward to half term am tired and struggling a bit with this pregnancy. The 3 of them can be a handful without the usual school routine!

Birdies · 26/10/2012 14:23

octane glad your scan went well. Despite dishing out advice not to worry about size of bump, guess what?! I'm worrying about mine now! I tired to measure it and it came out too small but I must be doing something wrong cos a couple of weeks ago the midwife measured it and it was bigger and the right size.

So please can someone tell me how to measure it properly myself? Where do you start the tape measure and where does it end?

AppleCrumples · 26/10/2012 14:26

Am now just hanging around mn trying to put off going to investigate wierd clattering noise coming from washing machine, suspect a small plastic gonk is stuck in filter. Sadly we've been here before and tis a messy job getting it out!

AppleCrumples · 26/10/2012 14:30

birdies you need to be able to feel top of uterous and measure from pubic bone to top of uterous I think! Don't take my word for it though I would leave this to the professionals! Am pretty small myself and will be interested to see what midwife says on wed as like you am feeling a bit worried about size.

octanegirl · 26/10/2012 15:20

Birdies the sonographer yesterday said the tape measure system was outdated and not very accurate and not to get too hung up about it. If you are genuinely worried they will do a scan for you - but as I've shown, it's usually nothing!

mrsbugsywugsy · 26/10/2012 19:14

happy Friday everyone!

So I had my flu jab yesterday Smile, apparently it doesn't matter if you have a cold so long as you don't have a fever. Feeling pretty rubbishey today but I think it's the remnants of my cold and not to to with the jab.

However - top tip - if you can only sleep on one side then make sure they do the jab in the other arm. I let them do it in my left arm, then couldn't sleep because I always sleep on my left hand side, but it made my arm hurt when I laid on it.

Tugs glad all is well now

Brug I'm 27 weeks with an anterior placenta. Some days I feel kicks, others I don't. DP still hasn't felt any from the outside, and I'm getting paranoid that it's because I have a thick layer of blubber in the way! I think it is too early to be worried if we don't feel anything, as others have said it depends on the baby's position that day.

How did the gig go bealos?

Quick question - what exactly does it mean when they talk about the baby's size in terms of 'percentiles'? I've never been told what percentile my baby is; at my scan they gave me a printout with the results in cm, and a tiny scale with a mark showing where mine was in relation to the average.

I'm going to break the trend for aches and pains as I have a really achey upper back. My lower back, hips, ribs etc are all fine. I wonder if it is related to sitting at a desk all day at work so I have asked for a DSE assessment (although knowing my work I won't get it till after I've had the baby [hhmm]

Pascha · 26/10/2012 19:47

I have given in and finally broken out the gaviscon! Its only taken me nearly 31 weeks to succumb. Last time I didn't need it at all.

Percentiles: The range of normal measurements for a baby ranging from 1 - lowest to 100 highest. If you imagine a baby absolutely centre of the weight or length range of all babies classed as normal that baby would be on the 50th percentile - an equal number of babies are bigger or smaller.

25th percentile means that a quarter of babies are smaller and three quarters are bigger. 75th percentile means three quarters are smaller and a quarter bigger.

It doesn't matter at all where your baby falls on the percentile chart, even if its at the very top or very bottom, as long as they are on it thats normal.

godzookey · 27/10/2012 10:00

hi all

Complicated think you're off to earls court today - i'm going tomorrow so if you check back later this evening, let me know if you have any top tips!!

allchik · 27/10/2012 19:12

Hi hormonal yes,Ill be at LGI! Hopefully in a birth pool if space :)

Has anyone been getting anxious recently?feel v silly as had midwife ap last wk n all was fine,n nothings happened that should make me nervous but getting t 1st trimester fear again.Got pregnant quite soon after a mmc so maybe thats why,but starting to panic that sumit will go wrong n il miss it,like less movement or leaking amniotic fluid. Its doing my head in :( sorry to be depressing n bum people out x

AppleCrumples · 27/10/2012 19:26

alchik sounds perfectly normal to me! Were nearly at the end and it's huge so we are all bound to worry. Personally I suffer from anxiety anyway and I have struggled with it all the way through :( sometimes worry that no 4 is pushing my luck...

salt1 · 27/10/2012 20:25

i worry quite a bit, worse when i have not slept well. have had new carpets fitted today, bloody chaos, probably easier to move house x

Brugmansia · 27/10/2012 21:34

We've been buying stuff today. Finally got our pushchair. Also got an electric breast pump. At DP's insistence, a bit of an odd thing for him to become enthused about but I presume it's because it is a gadget.

slightlytipsy · 27/10/2012 21:43

Hi. I've been off here for a week (I'm expecting triplets! eek!). I also bought a lot of stuff today Brugs. One triplet newborn pushchair (thanks to some people PMing me about them), half the budget for the babies gone already! One large cot, one moses basket (I know I shouldn't, but they were just too adorable not to buy), electric breast pump and a few bits and pieces of clothes (not much though). And we've recently been delivered a playpen thing for newborns to 6mnth olds which should fit them all (or at least keep our 4yr old twins from getting a bit too physical with them). Retail therapy at its best! [hsmile]

g0ldie · 28/10/2012 07:22
