Oh just saw your post Bunny. That is awful. I wonder if you could get the doctors to sign you off with stress?

Bunny222 · 24/10/2012 21:54

Thanks mrsbugsy I think if it continues will have to consider it. Nothing is more important than bump. Hope you get your fu jab!

AppleCrumples · 24/10/2012 21:58

bunny your boss sounds awful, I'd be trying to finish earlier if poss just to get away from her! You don't need that kind of stress x

mrsbugsy that same dr has seen me loads through this pregnancy too! He prescribed anti sickness at 18 weeks so he really should have known...neverminmd the bump that should have beena clue! Fortunately I have been stalking the hyperemesis thread and know my meds are commonly prescribed in preg

happyhow · 24/10/2012 22:29

bunty, I've just bought a nice maxi dress from new look in a teal colour. It's £34.99 and fits really well around the bust and Baby. I've got it for my brother's wedding in Nov. it's strapless but because I'm so short, my mum is going to alter the length and use the spare fabric to make straps! Think I'll get a little bolero or something to wear too. It's a jersey fabric but has a little bit of a sheen to it so it looks quite dressy and not as casual as I feared.

Hey Everyone,

Been catching up today on your posts and reflecting on the whole pram issue a bit. Those chasing a double, here's a personal review by a local lady I was sent covering lots of pros and cons.

www.pikkuarkki.com/blog/definitive-double-stroller-review/

Given my DSI will be not quite three when DD2 comes along, we're going to stick with the buggy board. He barely uses the pram now as it is. Likes to wander too much. Which can be an issue given we're going to do a long haul downunder, me alone with two kids, when DD2 is only 2 months old. Always good to be able to strap them in. I think we've a compromise, but yet to be proven a good one, we're going to buy a double bike trailer. Croozer (good value for money), Chariot, or Burleigh (both high end with suspension). Undecided on brand just yet. Have you seen this insane family's blog??

www.familyonabike.org/other%20info%20pages/moreprojectdetails.htm

Aiming to make a health kick/comeback next summer with cycle touring days/weekends, and easy delivery to daycare.

When it comes to choosing a pram, just remember that you'll be pushing it more than hubby, so you should take your opinion as the decider. Lightweight but strong is GOOD, think stairs, getting on busses and trains!

Preeclampsia can start setting in around now. If any of you are seeing stars, feeling pain in your back just below your ribs (often on the right side), especially after eating, go and check your blood pressure. With DS1 I had to do it daily from 28 weeks and he finally arrived by emergency C-section at 34+3 after a week in the hospital, triggered by a massive stress in a work meeting pushing my preeclampsia with HELLP!! His circulation was compromised (by doppler scan) and my liver was failing! Completely normal little boy now, although small for gestational age, and I was fine straight after delivery.

Bunny, you need to make it clear to your boss that she has to go easy on you now. If it continues, tell your doctor and take early leave due to high stress work environment. My doc tried to tell me.

Ladies looking at dresses, have you seen stuff from the swedish company BOOB? Great maternity and breast feeding clothes, they have an online discount store too.

Tugstonia · 25/10/2012 07:33

Thanks Allchik yeah it's been a shit week. Had to go back in on Tuesday after more bleeding and I was actually convinced I was going to have the baby that day, but no (thank god!). Even stayed in the same bed in hospital but thankfully the hideous porn woman had gone! Home again yesterday. Scan showed all fine with bubs and placenta which is excellent although they said they can't see tiny abruptions on the ultrasound, but they ruled out lots of sinister causes so looks like I'm just in the 'unexplained bleeding' category. I'm having another scan at 32 weeks to check growth. I'm not a teacher but am v jealous of half term next week!! Actually feeling fine in myself now, if a little drained by all the emotion.

Bunny I'm so sorry your boss was such a horrible bitch, definitely make a complaint even if she is the boss, it's not right. I agree you should talk to your doc about maybe finishing early, you don't need that added stress. Hope you're ok.

Apple am also Shock at your doc not realising you're pregnant!!

Octane hope your scan goes well today and all ok with bubs.

Tugstonia · 25/10/2012 07:58

P.S. allchik on the snacks front, don't know about post-birth but during my recent little sojourn in hospital I have to say I woke up hungry and found my tummy rumbling a lot during the day and think I might have even lost some weight (woo hoo!) It's not that I wasn't fed (had 3 meals a day) but I think I'm just used to eating a lot more now. I got DP to bring me fruit (hospital food notoriously lacking in fibre), biccies and chocolate and it was great to have those to nibble on.

Brugmansia · 25/10/2012 08:27

Good to hear that it seems that nothing serious tugs.

I was just wondering if anyone could give me reassurance about movement.

I'm 26 weeks today and have an anterior placenta. Not been getting much movement until recently, but over the past couple of weeks I have been feeling very definite biggish kicks. Over the past few 2 or so days these have been a lot less noticeable. I'm still feeling some movement but it's much more muffled and I have to be sitting still and concentrate to notice. Could this just be because the baby's bigger so has less space? Or should I worry?

Brugmansia · 25/10/2012 08:29

Just to add, I know that I haven't been feeling all of baby's movement as when I saw the MW last week she could hear loads of movement and kicks with the doppler and I couldn't feel them at all unless they were pretty big.

Birdies · 25/10/2012 09:09

bunny what a bitch your boss is. I think she has has issues - is probably jealous of you or something. I can't stand women who treat others like shit at work. My suggestion is to clutch bump next time and look like you're in pain/about to drop because of her shouting :)

brugs they always say to speak to midwife if you notice a change in movements. However, it doesn't sound like you need to worry. I've had the same thing happen to me - since about 29 weeks my movements have been there, but more muffled. My guess is that my baby has turned, perhaps has her back at the front so the kicks are towards my back. That's probably what's happened to you. I don't have an anterior placenta this time but last time they were certainly more muffled as well when placenta was at the front.

Thanks for the buggy link djvesi

Lora1982 · 25/10/2012 09:28

morning all. on holiday at the min. Bunny i think you should have pointed out.... in front of the board... that it was her fault and then continued to make a complaint what a cow.

ive forgotten how many weeks i am... i blame holiday mode... i think im 30wks well anyway im officially massive i cant hide itt anymore. although the baby was measuring a month bigger a while ago i think its grown even more now. also my nips are MASSIVE i knew theyd change colour but they haveturned into the size of jaffa cakes (bf's description not mine :-D)

bealos · 25/10/2012 11:12

Random request - am DJing at a 40th birthday party tomorrow and pulling together a playlist. There's a vague 90s rave theme, but I think I can go with 'party tunes'.

Any songs that would get you up and dancing (yes, even with the bump!)? I know if I can get the ladies dancing, the men will follow... I've DJed weddings before (possibly the hardest gig ever) and also lots of parties... it's been a while though!

octanegirl · 25/10/2012 11:45

bealos can't go wrong with Faithless and Insomnia!

I'm back from my growth scan - he's measuring in the 75th % so that's fine. Sonographer said it was my height, makes him measure small proportionally.
Phew!
Quite sweet to see him, head down now. Waiting for the door to open in a few weeks!

Natnat29 · 25/10/2012 12:31

Bunny Sorry to hear you're having a bad time at work too, she sounds like a complete nightmare and agree that maybe you should go docs about finishing early? Im in a similar situation - very stressful working environment, my midwife was concerned as mum and sis both had pre-eclam and my blood pressure is on the rise- i did take 2 weeks off but came back in i am going keep coming in while i can but to be honest anymore stress from work and im ready to go on sick with stress until i start mat leave, i hope my bump is ok but checked with doc and midwife and both said to stay in work if i can

Bealos dance classics Q.T Quartet 'hold that sucker down', Mighty Dub Katz 'magic carpet ride, Energy 52 'Cafe del mar'? suddenly feels incredible old

Natnat29 · 25/10/2012 12:32

Bealos for the cheese factor maybe steps too?! i'd be jigging my bump all over to a bit of 5,6,7,8 lol

Berniebennett · 25/10/2012 12:37

Brugs Im pretty much exactly the same as you, 29 weeks today and anterior placenta - even what the midwife said was exactly the same as me! I have been having days where I can really feel and days where it's light and back again so I think certain positions are just really cushioned (I'm also taking comfort in the fact that I haven't had an issues with bump keeping me awake at night with his dance moves so just appreciate that while it still lasts) xxx

BuntyCollocks · 25/10/2012 12:41

Thanks for the link, happy

tugs glad all is ok - my DMIL has bleeding throughout her pregnancies with both boys - it's an unfortunate 'just one of those things' with some people - doesn't stop the worry, though!

bunny your boss is a bitch!

I would also second taking snacks - it was hours between getting my section and having food last time and I was starving, as I threw up the little I'd eaten the day before whilst in labour. I ended up technically not having eaten for about 48 hours.

brugs I also have this, both the anterior placenta, and the kicks being less noticeable on some days. It freaks me out every time, and I agree with birdies that baby has probably just turned in toward your back, which is where we want them! What reassures me on such days is my doppler, as I can hear her moving even if I can't feel as much.

Glad your scan went well, octane!

MarasmeAbsolu · 25/10/2012 13:27

Bunny - swearing and yelling and humiliating someone, pregnant or not, is a form of harassment and should not be tolerated by anyone.
Hope there is some sort of system internally where you work to help you deal with this :(

I had a mega spree on ebay.
got myself

  • a freestyle medela pump (yeah!!! spend sooooo much time expressing last time on my single pump - 11 months in fact, 5 times a day, minimum 30 minute per breast for a measly yield. typing with one hand while holding your breast and the pump is hardly practical!). So this one, coming with "hand-free" attachement, double pump etc will be just... amazing Grin
  • got a cocoon for DDs bugaboo bee, to fir the baby in from birth
  • and... got myself a cheap ebay bednest too :) so chuffed about this :)
I am not a fan of the idea of co-sleeping, but this sounds a wee bit different, and the prospect of being able to just touch the baby, verify all is well without getting out of bed in the freezing cold is just soooo appealing! Last time round, I used to wake up in absolute dread that DD had stopped breathing / died in her sleep. She is 3 now, and I still do a little prayer everytime I go get her in the morning. Totally mad, I know.

so I just need to get a bugaboo board for DD, and I think that's us all set (well, we need to finish our massive building work too, and actually open the boxes of DD's baby stuff, but that just a detail, right!? Grin)

SquealyB · 25/10/2012 14:28

Bealos a bit of cheesy Robert Miles and Fragma should do it.

Bunny your boss is a nut case. That is unacceptable behaviour and actually illegal if it creates a hostile work environment. Good on you for complaining, bullying should never be tolerated.

Tugs you poor thing, hard not to think the worst everytime something happens but sounds like your little one wants to stay put for now which is all good news. Glad the porn queen was gone - how gross.

Bunty I actually found a really nice dress for a wedding on New Look, the black lace one. Got lots of compliments on the day and was a darn sight cheaper than the one I had almost setttled on from Tiffany Rose which was just too short (am also 5ft 8 so hardly a giant!).

Glad the scan went well octance.

Marasme ooh nice shopping spree. You are so right the building work is just details Wink. That is what I tell myself anyway.

bealos · 25/10/2012 16:54

Thanks for the playlist suggestions, it's looking pretty good!

Question for y'all...

Can you get SPD in your bum?!

I think I might have SPD / pelvic girdle pain (obviously self diagnosed at this point as I've been getting a really sore arse, particularly on one side! It's like I've run a half marathon but suddenly kicks in. Been sort of ignoring it up til now, but will chat to the midwife about it.

Mumsnet guide to SPD

happyhow · 25/10/2012 16:57

Is it sciatica?! Quite a sharp pain in the centre of your bum cheek? I've had that since week 8... Can sometimes feel like your leg is going to give way but mine tends to hurt more if I'm getting out of bed/off sofa awkwardly.

Brugmansia · 25/10/2012 17:17

I've been getting jabbing pains in my bum and lower back too. Not sure what it is but also tends to be if I've been sitting on the sofa in one position or when I'm getting out of bed.

bealos · 25/10/2012 17:30

I've never had sciatica before.. it's definitely a jabby pain in the bum and achey legs too. Tends to come on if I've been doing lots of the minimal amount of housework (which involves bending and squatting) and if I cycle with too much in my rucksack.

Need to speak to the midwife on Monday I think. Pretty hectic weekend ahead.

happyhow · 25/10/2012 18:53

I'd never had sciatica before either. As the uterus is growing, it puts pressure on the sciatic nerve that runs from the bottom of your spine down both legs, straight through the centre of your buttock! Could be a bit of pelvic girdle too but sounds more like sciatica. If I've done lots, am tired or dehydrated I find it hurts more and also getting out of bed awkwardly. I'm totally used to it now though so it doesn't bother me as much as it did in the beginning. I've had it since 8 weeks, now 29...

knuckingfackered · 25/10/2012 19:00

bunny just go to dr explain what happened at work and how the adrenalin rush made baby behave.
Exactly same happened to me (although, the aggression was directed at me) in my 1st preg and I got signed off with stress indefinately.
That will scare the shit out of them and hopefully all will calm down.

I am so wanting some of that tubigrip for bump, have tried everywhere but no joy, so well jealous bunny
