Hello again all.

We just found out yesterday that our planning permission has been granted in full. We will hopefully be starting work on the loft extension very soon but it suddenly seems like it's going to be a bit of a race against time to see if it can be done before the baby is here. That's also only the first stage so we'll definitely still be immersed in a while host of other building and diy for many months. I'm hoping that being on mat leave will be a positive thing as at least I'll be around to overseas and deal with stuff.

In bump terms, mine still seems very small but apparently it's measuring fine. It seems to fluctuate in size too and some days seems more obvious. I was expecting a huge bump as I'm another short arse and there's not a lot of space in my torso for it to fit in. I'm still only just over 25 weeks though.

bealos · 19/10/2012 08:59

Lots of bump comments going on. It does infuriate me the way people seem to think you are public property when you're pregnant. I'm not sure people even mean it, it just comes out Shock.

Ended up in Kids A&E yesterday with my 6 year old son, who was playing in the bath and cracked down on his chin. Big gash, needed glueing back together. All fine. Probably one of the least traumatic A&E visits we've had!

It chimed with when my midwife was supposed to be coming to see me, but, as luck would have it, she was called out to a birth, so we're rearranging.

Blimey.

newbie6 · 19/10/2012 11:23

Hi all,

Gosh, can't believe we are all in the last stages.....well further on than we all were and all now seems very real, yikes!

My biggest bugbear has been lack of sleep due to baby deciding to stick his feet, I think!.....right into my upper rib cage.....blooming agony!! Comes and goes but honestly, one night I only managed about an hours sleep, I was miserable. Builders still here but end is in sight thank god, work still manic and working from home with the builders making loads of noise and mess keeps my mood oh so jolly....not :) oh yes, also have 2 crazy dogs, both under 3 who love nothing more than to play in the mud fest which used to be their back garden and then walk through the house with sodden mucky paws, I guess this is all good prep for motherhood?

Think I need a padded cell. Diabetes is still well controlled which is at least good but so stressful, constant worrying about that too! Okay....that's my rant over, know what you all mean about 'bump' comments, fortunately I seem to be out and infront as opposed to weight everywhere but am sure there is still lots of time for me to swell up, that will be the icing on the cake....ha ha, I'm past caring now! Has anyone else got stretch marks, I don't at the moment but am sure mother nature won't disappoint at some stage :)

Keep smiling everyone!

X

AppleCrumples · 19/10/2012 11:56

I have a few stretch marks although not a lot despite all my stretching! After my first I founmd to my relief that I had none at all...on my stomach. Then a few weeks after having ds1 I caught sight of my bum in the mirror and OMG the stretch marks! Have no idea why this happened but it was quite a shock!

Wow newbie after all that a newborn will b a walk in the park!

BuntyCollocks · 19/10/2012 12:00

I have none at the moment, but then, I didn't have any until the pulled DS out kicking and screaming. Hoping I escape this time, especially if it is a natural birth ...

happyhow · 19/10/2012 13:00

I don't have any yet although I am noticing ones from puberty on my stomach more as they are stretching a bit.

Can't believe people are going on maternity leave already! I've still got 9 weeks to go... Although I'm loving that its now single figures!

Newbie I'm going to be like you soon... We get the keys to our house on the 2nd so phase 1 will start the week after. Fortunately, we've been able to keep our flat so I don't need to be in around the mess but we will be doing extensive renovations next spring with a very little baby... Hubby is confident we'll be moving in to the new house at the start of Dec - I can't wait!!Grin

What are people's thoughts between the Bugaboo Cameleon and iCandy's? I keep swinging between the two...

BuntyCollocks · 19/10/2012 13:15

I wish I was going on maternity just now Envy 8 weeks today and counting!

Great news about the house, happy!

I love the icandy peach, and would get one if it weren't for the fact I don't think I'll really get the use of it as a double. Same with the Stokke Crusi.

happyhow · 19/10/2012 13:27

We're planning on having another child within 2yrs (although i should maybe focus on getting this one out first...!) so my mind says that it's a good idea to go for the peach but it's so expensive to convert it into a double buggy. They are also apparently quite heavy and scratch easily though and I know from friends that the bugaboo is almost indestructible! I'm not keen on the Donkey though. Confused

Tugstonia · 19/10/2012 13:42

Well ladies i am in the labour ward. Bloody mucus yesterday, called mw this morning and they got me to come in, did a trace and internal exam and they're keeping me in for 24hrs. Baby is fine but they're worried about early labour because of mucus plug & blood. I think they're being uber cautious because I've not felt contractions & am not in pain. I am pretty freaked out as I'm only 27 weeks and do not want to be in labour yet! Plus I've never stayed in hospital before so it's all weird. Fingers crossed it is nothing.

AppleCrumples · 19/10/2012 13:49

Oh god tugs hope everything is ok. Tell baby to stay put! Have heard people have bloody show really early but then still go over their due date x

BuntyCollocks · 19/10/2012 13:59

Fingers crossed for you tugs, naughty baby making you worry! Hope everything will be ok!

happy I don't think you can ever know if you'll need a double - I'm lucky that DS walks quite happily, but there will be other children his age who would need to be in a double. For the few times I think I'd need it, I'll just make sure that DH is there to carry/drag/sling him Grin

I've also heard that about the peach, but they're sooooo pretty ...

What about the stokke crusi? You can see it on mothercare. I do love my stokke. The xplory is v lightweight.

I think the issue is with any pram like this, which can convert to a double, they are ridiculously expensive. The crusi, buying the double pack all at once, is something like £1600 Shock. I think doing it singly is about £700 - the same price as the xplory from some places.

Birdies · 19/10/2012 14:04

Oh tugs hope everything is ok. Must be a good sign not having any contractions or anything though.

I've just discovered Twix caramel squares, oh yes.

I'm getting a Bugaboo donkey in pink and black - I love it. But, I think the icandy peach blossom twin 2 in berry bon bon looks amazing. But too many supply issues for me to risk it I think.

Got jabs this afternoon, boo.

MamaMary · 19/10/2012 14:55

Oh Tugs I hope you're okay. I'm really glad to hear they're keeping a close eye on you. I had a premature rupture (premature leaking of waters) but it wasn't until about 36 weeks. Sending positive vibes your way.

katolla · 19/10/2012 15:08

happyhow Dunno if the bugaboo is indestructible, if you want a go at fixing ours you're more than welcome :)

AppleCrumples · 19/10/2012 16:47

For those thinking of double buggies it depends on your older children as someone said above. Ds1 was 2 years 2 months when ds2 turned up and we never bothered with a double however at the time I was working and we went most places by car if we had done a lot of walking we may have needed one.

SquealyB · 19/10/2012 17:34

Goodness Tugs really hope everything is ok.

mrsbugsywugsy · 19/10/2012 18:36

Tugs hope you are OK.

My SIL has been diagnosed with gestational diabetes Sad. She is quite stressed about it. I'm off to search for info about it now so I can hopefully reassure her a bit.

Happy Friday everyone Smile

godzookey · 19/10/2012 19:19

Evening Ladies,
Tugs hope everything is going to be OK - thinking of you.

I CANNOT wait for mat leave now - 8 weeks to go and every day feels like a massive mountain to climb - i honestly don't think i can last BUT then i saw how overdrawn i am and i guess the reality check is that you just have to keep on going.

So sick of work and so sick of clients...

Any how, despite overdraft, am off to an NCT nearly new sale tomorrow so hoping to pick up some bargains - second hand moses basket would be ideal.

And relaxxxxx, it's now the weekend - thank god!!!

salt1 · 19/10/2012 20:37

mrsbugsy i can recommend diabetes uk, they have a good website and a careline both you and you sil can call for emotional support/ advice ect. u can also email them if you prefer though there will not be an instant response compared to calling. hope she is ok x

salt1 · 19/10/2012 20:38

tugs i hope you are ok, thinking of you, any news? xxxxxxx

newbie6 · 19/10/2012 20:59

Hi

I am diabetic although type 1 which is different but happy to help if I can. Second calling diabetes uk and there is also a good forum group called diabetic support forum.

X

Tugstonia · 19/10/2012 21:41

Thanks so much for your good wishes ladies. Still bleeding but no pain and midwives are all lovely and keeping an eye on me. Annoyingly loud woman talking on her phone constantly in the bed opposite but otherwise it's all good and would feel happy giving birth here when the time comes. Baby is under orders to stay put for another 10 weeks at least! I'm hoping that I'll be one of the unexplained bleeding cases and can go home tomorrow but will have to see what consultant says. I feel fine though, a tad gutted its Friday night and not a school night but I'll get over it!
Hope all of you are ok. X

Bunny222 · 19/10/2012 22:46

tugs that must have been scary for you.hope youre doing ok.

Have been getting an unpleasant bile/ sicky feeling in my throat now for last few days, drinking lots of water but not really helping. Anyone else getting this?

katolla · 19/10/2012 23:01

godzookey try car boot sales they had loads of Moses baskets and none more than a fiver

bunny is that not heartburn? The name seems to cover a lot of related symptoms?

PricklyPickle · 20/10/2012 06:51

tugs how are you doing now? Staying in hospital over night is never very restful. Hope the bleeding has stopped now, have they offered any ideas why its happened?

Bunny sounds like hearburn or acid reflux to me, I've just started getting this too, get yourself some gaviscon or some tablets, apparently you can get gaviscon on prescription. I seem to get it after I eat crisps, but there's no way I'm giving up crisps.

I've got my anti-d injection on Monday, I really hope they don't do it in my bum!
