I eventually drifted off to sleep again about 7 and then got woken up by the dog barking at half past!! Got to sleep again and just about to get up Blush. Thank God for school holidays!! No idea why I woke up, just did. Although the first thing I thought about was how my boss is pissed off with me for getting pregnant but it's ok for her and someone else in the department to be pregnant too (they have both just had their babies). I will be the third in the department (of 4...) to be on maternity leave this academic year. It was her 3rd kid and the other persons 2nd but apparently I'm not allowed to enjoy having my first and I should've postponed getting pregnant until they were coming back. Whilst I knew she thought this (although she's never actually said it to my face) I've had it all confirmed by a mutual friend of ours in the last day or two and think the confirmation has just made me pissed off!!!AngryAngry I think it's just the usual with those two; its ok for them to be selfish and get their families but because I'm younger, I'm just supposed to hold the fort and let them get in with it and sacrifice what I want and my chances of having it. I MC in Jan, 2 weeks before I found out about them both - if that had stuck, we'd all have been off at exactly the same time but because of the MC and finding out about them, I was just supposed to give up apparently. Sorry about that, just needed to get it all out...

Have spoken to hubby about it the last few days so don't know why it's bothering me so much. I think I'm just annoyed that I'm never allowed to be selfish; I've got to give way for everyone else and just accept it. It took us 14 months to get pregnant (both in our 20's) and my boss had very well timed sex for the first time in about a year to get pregnant without her hubby knowing. If we'd waited another year to ttc, who knows how long it would've taken. The other person struggled to conceive with both her kids but, at her admission, got pregnant when she did to cause as much disruption as possible...

Sorry, I ended up ranting again...

Hi Everyone,
Been reading all your posts, fabulous to find an active discussion forum where we can all vent and communicate about where we're at. I'm 26 +5, due 19 January with a little girl :-) Also having some insomnia, some BH, so tired. Second baby, first (2yo) came 6 weeks early with preeclampsia so being monitored closely.
Cheers

Tugstonia · 18/10/2012 12:07

Welcome djvesi! Good you're being monitored with this one.

Happy your boss and colleagues sound like utter prats. How can they dictate when you should or shouldn't have a baby?? Ignore.

I am a shortarse (5'3) and DP is huge (6'5) so thinking my bump is taking after him. Although I definitely do eat a lot so no doubt that's contributing! God knows what a 'normal' size bump is though. Guess people just feel the need to comment regardless. My colleague at work is 3 weeks ahead of me and is getting upset that people keep saying I'm huge and she's tiny by comparison. Wish people would just shut up!

pmgkt · 18/10/2012 12:14

Another one peed off with dh. I only work on Thursday mornings and this week dh is supposed to be looking after ds1 as normal childcare is on holiday. I was up in the night with chest pains which relates to an old injury. I called my clients to say I wouldn't be in today as I do a physical job and lifting etc wouldn't be good. so I said I'd stay in bed as I felt bad and as is been up in the night I was tired. That was met with a moan and shocked looked. Then started saying I should stop working now and then I can chill and do the housework! I just laughed and said that I enjoy my work as I meet non baby people, and it is a nice break from ds1. He then said that he could still go to childcare so I'm relaxed. Because I don't want to give up yet he got all shirty about me throwing his offer back in his face. I said you only just mentioned it and then cos I don't jump at it straight away I'm suddenly wrong. Well I got up, hoping for some tlc but no, he has made 2 cups of tea, otherwise ds1 has been climbing all over me, whinging and being bored as now dh decided we would just chill. It would have been lovely for him to take him out for the morning so I could actually chill. But now he has decided to go out himself for a few hours so I'm looking after ds1. I have had to Hoover up after the dogs, otherwise it will never get done. I'm wondering why I didn't go to work so I get paid, its not like I've managed to rest. Just getting peed off, teary and having to cope with a slighty bored and short tempered toddler. His reasoning is that I over did it yesterday, I did a slow hour shopping and an hour long lunch with a friend hardly difficult

Pascha · 18/10/2012 12:22

Oh Happy what a bitch she sounds! I would be openly and loudly relishing how much fun I am finding pregnancy and what a great thing it is you are starting your family etc etc and pointedly ignoring any nasty remarks. Don't let her grind you down.

Hi djvesi I'm on my second too. preeclampsia sounds rubbish, hope it doesn't affect you this time. I know what you mean about tired. Everything I do takes a bit more out of me than it would ordinarily. I'm feeling about 95% of my usual energy at the mo, enough to function, not enough to have a spring in my step.

I'm 5'6, so a mediumarse I suppose, with very short legs and long body. Tugs tell your friend that a neat little bump means much less likelyhood of waddling at the end, you can still see your feet, stretchmarks could be smaller, driving is still easy and you fit chairs without squeezing into them Smile

Pascha · 18/10/2012 12:25

pmgkt sounds like a sulking little boy to me.

happyhow · 18/10/2012 13:45

She's actually quite a good friend which is annoying too but she is very selfish about what she wants. I'm fully expecting her to screw me over with the timetable next year - she'll get the classes and days off that she wants and the my other colleague will get good classes as she's had a shitty timetable for two years (she chose to get herself knocked up and come back half way through the year when nothing could be done about the timetable) and I'll have to settle and pay the extra costs of half days at nursery. My hubby said if I get completely screwed over, I have fun making babies and work for him instead!!

She's also incredibly jealous that we are 10yrs younger than her and her hubby and have 2 flats and a house between us in the city centre. She lives in the country in a small 3 bed house with no savings or anything to fall back on. next rant... Why is there such an attitude problem against those that have worked hard to be ambitious and do well?! They chose to go travelling and spend time in other countries - we've just worked to save up. My hubby is self employed so our property is his pension but she doesn't seem to get that. She also has no child care costs for the next 2 yrs as her MIL is doing it all for her - we're going to be £750 a month.

I'm being a right grumpy cow today... On the plus side, I have spent the last 6.5 months being very happy and completely unaffected by pregnancy which did visibly piss them both off!! I was one of the lucky ones who has had no morning sickness, a little bit of tiredness, no mood swings and the only thing that has got me is SPD but even that is barely non existent at the mo - again, thank God for school holidays and being able to sit about most of the time!! They have spent their entire pregnancies complaining about every ailment under the sun and suffering very badly with morning sickness... Not that I'm trying to score points or anything...Wink

Birdies · 18/10/2012 13:59

happy I think you should ditch your friend and go with your DH's idea of working for him and making babies!

Funnily enough I had my first unsettling comment yesterday about my bump. I was chatting to someone in a shop and said I was expecting another baby in December and she looked surprised and said "well there's not much there". So I have been worrying about size of bump and baby ever since. Especially as DD was very small and no one picked it up. So now worrying that I'm a bad baby grower.

But hey ho, if it wasn't that I'm sure I'd find something else to worry about.

MamaMary · 18/10/2012 14:25

Tugstonia and birdies isn't it funny how you feel worried if your bump is really big and you feel worried if your bump is small too! And comments about either are never really welcome.

I envy those with 'out-front' bumps - I tend to get rounder like a barrel and my hips seem to carry some of it. I actually was getting worried that my bump was too small and I was just getting fat, but I was measured this week and it's normal. Also, on the positive side, I can sleep on my tummy if I want to. :)

happyhow · 18/10/2012 14:57

The only comment I've had on my bump was from a pupil who said that another teacher who is one week ahead of me looked really small in comparison. I explained that I had quite a lot of squidgy stuff around my baby whereas the other teacher is stick thin so she's bound to look smaller!

I am feeling more pregnant though - it's getting difficult to pick stuff up now, get off the sofa and put socks on. It's only been in the last few days that I've really noticed it.

Just taken the dog out for a walk and am feeling somewhat calmer now. I apologise profusely for my previous rants!! Grin

MamaMary · 18/10/2012 15:11

happyhow, no worries about being grumpy - we all have our days.

I'm with you with RE people who get free childcare through their parents or parents-in-law, seems so unfair when others have to fork out hundreds, but it's just me being Envy

SpringFlowers · 18/10/2012 15:39

I have always had to pay for childcare. Currently paying £1000 a month for dd3 and it will be even more when I go back to work. My other dd's are older and no longer need childcare but prior to dd3 being born, before and after school care was also costing me £1000 a month. Children are not cheap.

AppleCrumples · 18/10/2012 15:48

I get comments all the time at school gate about how small I am but most of these people know how ill I was and how much weight I lost at the beginning. Unless I suddenly develop a huge appetite I'm never going to be big! Besides at least I won't have to lose much afterwards.

Now I've said that I will suddenly get massive appetite and gain 3 stone :)

mrsbugsywugsy · 18/10/2012 15:51

Interesting to hear all of the bump size comments. I am another short-arse, 5'2 with a relatively short body and long legs. My bump is directly underneath my boobs. I look like a small child pretending to be pregnant with a football up my top. My SIL is a month further along than me and her bump looks smaller, but we both measure just right. I think Pascha is right, if you have a short body then the bump has to stick out further to measure the same.

I'm worried about being too big to drive soon - at some point I will have to have the seat so far back to accommodate the bump, that my feet won't reach the pedals! DP can't drive but is 'having lessons' (ie. he decided to have lessons as soon as I got pregnant, but hasn't actually got around to booking any yet).

Welcome djvesi

Thanks for the sugar info Bunny - hopefully it will be the same for my SIL.

Sorry to hear so many of you are having a stressful time.

Bunty the situation with your hospital sounds like a nightmare!

Happy ditto the problems with your boss. At least you'll be off on maternity leave soon and it won't be your problem.

AppleCrumples · 18/10/2012 15:59

I think everyone just carries differently. Mine is quite low and all in front. Some people have commented on how low but then this is no4 and I have zero muscles left to hold bump up!

Sorry meant to say welcome to djvesi

And sorry to hear others having stress at work and with hospitals. It's the last thing you need now, am glad in only have to answer to the 3 mini tyrants in my house who can be easily bought off with sweeets! X

BuntyCollocks · 18/10/2012 16:07

Thanks for all the sympathy, everyone!

I've had comments in the same day, one person saying I'm massive, the other I'm tiny. Just take it with a pinch of salt now.

Happy your boss sounds like a prick.

I think I'm turning into an evil, pregnant bitch. I was determined to be in a good mood today, and it's all went downhill.

1: a good friend telling me, in response to my saying I wasn't going home at Christmas, and I could only see her if she was down this neck of the woods before if I'm not in labour/don't have a newborn, "I'm sure she'll be late anyway!" WHY WOULD YOU ACTUALLY WISH THAT ON SOMEONE?!
2: same friend telling me just to have the baby at home - oh, the innocence of thinking you can just rock up at any hospital and have the birth you want ...
3: a friend of my sister's boyfriend saying vile 'funny' things about her on facebook, not limited to 'she'll be sucking so and so's cock and I'll be licking her little flower'.

I am fuming. I have so much rage.

Only a twix is helping.

Hormonalhell · 18/10/2012 18:41

Well I have started my mat leave as of today Smile am sooo glad as having trouble sleeping and so dragging myself into work was getting very hard.

Got lots of pressies for baby Charlie and some pamper stuff for me too so felt very spoiled today Smile

Just looking forward to relaxing for a few weeks.

BuntyCollocks · 18/10/2012 19:01

Lucky you, hormonal! Enjoy the lovely rest before baby arrives!

AppleCrumples · 18/10/2012 19:08

Hormonal I hope you enjoy your free time and get lots of rest!

SquealyB · 18/10/2012 20:21

Tugs I'm still feeling not quite myself but a little better thanks. Yoga is going well but I find it hard to focus on it sometimes when the teacher goes a bit "hippy" if you know what I mean. Have also downloaded a hypo birthing relaxation exercise from iTunes which seems to make me fall asleep. Have not managed to listen to the whole thing yet !

Like a lot of you, I'm not sleeping very well either.

happy your rants seem totally justified. Boss sounds like she is a bit jealous. bunty sometimes the world conspires against good humour. I am like a harpy at the moment and everything annoys me. Facebook comments are pretty awful though.

Have been getting a fair few bump comments, why why why do people say things. It is not solicited and I do not feel the urge to comment on their figures.

I'm visiting my parents who live in Spain at the moment and generally just very narky! Trying desperately to be nice...

Berniebennett · 18/10/2012 20:54

On the bump front after being extremely fed up of comments about bump (I work in ladies fashion so every customer asks and gives me their opinions and I have to smile through it) well my poor supervisor received all the frustration I've been hiding - when her being about a size 18-20 looked at me and said i was huge, I innocently said maybe but at least I have a reason - what's your excuse?

Surprisingly I have had no more comments, lol!

Still 2 weeks and counting until in on mat leave!

djvesi · 19/10/2012 04:25

Thanks for all the warm welcomes ladies, it feels really lovely to receive them.

All those that are angry, ooh yeh, I totally get you. Berniebennett, OMG you didn't say that to her, really? Alright! She opened a can of worms with that comment eh? I was a total preggie monster the first time around so have been trying really hard to channel my anger a bit more this time. Although it can feel really good and righteous to let it out, right? The pregnant anger was one of my hubby's (is it DH?) reasons for not wanting to have another child in a hurry.

I'm feeling a lot more anxiety these days. Doesn't help that around our house has become a building site. I'm an expat in Finland, and this time of year we should be getting ready to welcome the snow and sweeping up autumn leaves rather than trudge through mud and dodging diggers outside the kitchen window. Damned drainage repairs. We actually have a moat and a drawbridge this week.

Also just had awful nightmare that I was a single mother, living in Sydney in an apartment next to a brothel, struggling to find decent overcharged childcare and finish a postgrad degree. Actually pretty happy to wake up to a black cold morning in the subarctic in my nice warm, if not muddy house.

BuntyCollocks · 19/10/2012 06:50

Welcome, dj :)

These vivid dreams in pregnancy are so bizarre. I dreamt my DH wasn't on the scene, so I was shacking up with my manager and colleague (both male). BIzarrely, we were all happy with this threesome Confused

pmgkt · 19/10/2012 07:06

Where do you work bunty! Ha ha. Well after no sleep for 24hrs I had a lovely sleep last night, no wake ups by me or ds1 Bliss.

BuntyCollocks · 19/10/2012 07:10

Oh, glad you had a better sleep, pmgkt! There's few things worse than being unable to sleep. I wish I could say it was somewhere exciting, but I work for an investment bank!
