OP posts:

I thought Mayo was ok as long as it's not made using raw eggs? Is quiche also bad?

MummyInHeels · 30/10/2012 12:14

I'm not sure - I've heard the same about Mayo. Could you have salad cream? Or is that banned too? I really think they should help us out more and put a little picture of a pregnant lady on the labels with a cross through it so that we know this is something we can't have! They do it with allergies, so why not us! 'Not suitable for pregnant women' - easy! This would have saved me lots of embarrassment at the supermarket the other day trying to find out if their cheddar cheese was pasteurised...

PseudoBadger · 30/10/2012 12:20

Mayo like helmans is fine, any shop bought egg mayo sandwich will be fine. Quiche is fine. In fact IMO even soft eggs are fine as long as they're Lion stamped.

DontmindifIdo · 30/10/2012 12:29

OK, thanks, I really don't normally like egg mayo so I didn't think the check last time I was pg, but suddenly I wanted egg mayo sandwiches!

Actually, this time round I seem to have much more cravings than I did with DS, I've gone off chocolate (!) I feel sick (I didn't feel ill at all with DS) I want stodge and odd food.

princesschick · 30/10/2012 12:45

Hey ladies, just caught the egg chat on the board. You just need to make sure products like mayo are pasturised. It should say on the packet and if not they usually have a helpline to ring - same goes for all dairy / egg products really.... ice cream, cheeses, mayo's, creamy sauces, salad dressings etc. Boiled eggs and egg sarnies should be fine. We only buy organic and preferably bio dynamic eggs and I've just been having them a little harder than normal but with a little bit of run - same for poached eggs too.

Hope you are all well. I've been feeling grim hence not posting very much. Puking yesterday spectacularly and retching today. I'm so tired and nauseous all the time. I've even got some sea sick bands to try and reduce the nausea as I need to work and get on!

We saw our fertility consultant yesterday who was over the moon that we've got there naturally and don't need any treatment. We've been signed off from the clinic now Grin which feels like a big achievement. It's nice not to come out of there frustrated and crying and feeling scared of what might never be.

James, so sorry to hear of your loss. It's so tough. My thoughts are with you. Look after yourself and all the very best for a sticky bean next time. Big hugs.

Skinny, hope you manage to get a scan today and all is fine. Do keep us updated.

It's very busy on here now! I'm feeling a little bit more confident at 8 + 2 esp with all this feeling sick lark, sensitive nose, sore boobs, tiredness, emotional rollercoaster, weird food cravings... I'm totally with the toad in the hole crowd, I had a massive yorkshire pud on a mega roast at our lovely country gastro pub on Sunday and a mega bowl of spag bol out on Sat night. I've gone off sweet things (except grapes which I can't get enough of) and am lovely salty things like spelt crackers, marmite, anchovies and capers... I've also gone off courgettes and brocolli, which I've never had a problem with before Confused

Waves to all :)

DontmindifIdo · 30/10/2012 12:56

OK, I'm going to guess M&S egg mayo is fine...

Right, off to find food I can keep down...

SunnyL · 30/10/2012 13:15

Some bottles of beer (Becks?) have a little symbol that looks like a pregnant lady with a cross through it. Always makes me chuckle.

Ive got a box of Ritz crackers in my drawer at work to eat surreptitiously when no one is looking. Really helps the nausea.

Dillydollydaydream · 30/10/2012 13:18

I'm sure the m&s one is fine.
I was eating bacon and Brie baguettes a couple of days before I poas. I didn't test til I was a week late so I would have been 4/5 weeks then, felt a tad guilty when I realised. I've also eaten a fairly runny poached egg but they have to be runny!

My youngest is 3.2 so I've forgotten what's on the 'naughty' list.

Sorry to hear so many of us a suffering nausea, my dh claims he also feels icky, maybe it's sympathy sickness?!

MrsJLS85 · 30/10/2012 13:33

Sorry to James and good luck to skinny today at EPU.

I'm 9 weeks today and absolutely shattered. Last night I slept 9 hours straight (thank god for DD who just learned this month to sleep through the night) and still had to have an hour long morning nap. Morning sickness still sucks, but I've figured out what foods I can manage now.
Hope everyone is doing well

CuriosityColaKilledTheCat · 30/10/2012 15:45

nannyl I'm in a similar situation. I managed to stay hydrated enough to keep out of hospital last time, so did not have hyperemis Hmm. Apparently losing weight and living on ice lollies for days at a time is just one of those things. I'm sure I had some travel sickness tablets last time that sounded like the French word for plane. My new doctor says no such thing exists.

Been feeling terrible the last couple of days. Not throwing up too much yet, but the nausea is just horrid. I want to lie down, but my 14 month old thinks otherwise. He also stood grinning at me while I was being sick and used it as an opportunity to try and throw things down the loo

skinny hope your appointment went ok.

On a lighter note dh was confused last night when I turned our sausage, mash and beans into sausage, Yorkshire puds, mash and loads of gravy! Grin

Onemoreforgoodmeasure · 30/10/2012 18:00

Just checking in quickly. Honestly, now I have to go and make egg salad sanwhiches and sausages mash and gravy, yum!!!

Is anyone feeling less nauseated? I had a bit of it over the weekend but not as bad as it has been and today was fine. It's been tailing off for the last 7-10 days or so. I'm 9+1 so would expect the nausea to continue a while longer.

Skinny, fx for you.

nannyl · 30/10/2012 18:09

oh curiosity

seem like we are in very similar situations then (my dd is 13.5 months).
(I remember the days of ice lollies / ice cubes and them vomiting them too)

the loo is already bothering me... last pregnancy the loo seat HAD to be up at ALL times to allow me to just make there..... now the loo seat HAS to be down at all times because of my little monkey... aghhh!
can see this being fun

I have felt marginally better this afternoon (than yesturday) and have found a nursery that will take DD PAYG with a moments notice, which is such a relief.... i think just finding this has made me feel a bit better.
While feeling good-ish i have caught up on the laundry, and made a loaf of bread and given the kitchen a once over.... Im very aware that i need to make the most of any random oppertunity to be productive at the moment as who knows when the next will be?

had a horrendous evening / night / morning last night and am hoping tonights is not as bad.

flutterby123 · 30/10/2012 18:09

I am 9+4 and the nausea is really cranking up now, but haven't felt that bad up until now - maybe everyone's different? I have just discovered one thing I can eat - cream crackers, dry = the stuff of miracles.
Still not heard from the midwife re. an appointment. Will phone again on Monday if I've still not heard anything.
Skinny fingers crossed for you today, hope everything went alright.

dreamydays · 30/10/2012 18:39

So sorry james :( Do take care.

skinny how did it go today? Fingers crossed for you.

Gravy - bleurgh! On the other hand I'd do a lot for an egg mayo sandwich right now. flutterby I have munched through so many dry cream crackers in the last month, I'm completely fed up of them! They're the only way I can make it through from breakfast to lunch (reckon my colleagues are wondering why I'm always rustling!).

summerymummery · 30/10/2012 19:49

Hello ladies! Can I join? I'm due 26th June (I think!). Haven't been to the doctor's yet, but the online due date calculators say so. Will be my second (DS is 16 months). Eeek! So much for thinking it would be aaaaages before I got broody again. I feel sick as a dog. Don't remember it being so early last time...

nannyl · 30/10/2012 19:53

JeffActually · 30/10/2012 20:10

Been away for a few days so catching up with all the news.

James I am so so sorry for your loss - I am thinking of you.

SpookySparkle I am joining you with the all day morning sickness, I still haven't been sick but I feel awful from the minute I wake up (this morning 6am) until I go to bed. My poor DH, it's our wedding anniverary today and he has bought me some really beautiful and unusually classy yet practical underwear but there is no chance of nookie tonight for him [hblush]

Olimoss Also feeling utterly exhausted and a total moany cow - I only work 5 hours each morning but pick my DD up from nursery and then play all afternoon and all I really want to do is curl up and sleep. Unfortunately when I get to bed at 10pm ish I can't sleep.

Monal Good to hear you are getting sorted - and teenyweeny heartbeat - Yay!

Sarah2506 Congratulations on your pregnancy. Sorry to hear about your Dad - I lost my Dad in June and I am terrified of losing this little one as I, like you, couldn't cope with anymore sadness this year. It will really give my Mum something to look forwward to aswell but I haven't told her yet as I am waiting until the 12 week scan - just in case.

Skinny Hope you are okay?

Had my booking in appt today, a little early but I am a little unsure about how preggers I am - although my LMP was 15th Sept it was 5 days early and very light, I have a feeling that it might have been implantation bleeding and that I am actually 3 weeks further along than I originally thought. But the midwife has put my due date down as 22nd so I guess I won;t be gettign a scan earlier.

I'm going to have to stop reading everyones posts about food as currently you all seem to be on a total opposite to me - sausages, toad in the hole, gravy, egg mayo sandwiches make me want to heave [hsad]

However I am just tucking in to a bowl of vanilla ice cream topped with Yeo Valley rhubarb yoghurt (that's healthy - right?)

Skinnydecafflatte · 30/10/2012 20:37

Hi, just checking back in. Not great news. I should be 8 +3 but scan showed feoetus of only 6+3 and no heartbeat. After a lot of discussion the outcome is to go back next Tuesday and see if there is a heartbeat but it is very very small odds. They have booked me in for a D&C next Wednesday so I won't have to wait long after if the worst is confirmed. It is likely though I will miscarry before then though.

Sorry to share bad news but I wish the rest of you safe and happy pregnancies. Thanks for all your support. Xx

3littlewomen · 30/10/2012 20:39

Skinny, I am so so sorry Thanks

nannyl · 30/10/2012 20:45

sorry to read that skinny Sad

DontmindifIdo · 30/10/2012 20:59

Skinny, so sorry to read that. Take care of yourself, rest.

Sunbeam18 · 30/10/2012 21:01

Have been thinking of you all day, Skinny, and checking here for updates. I'm so sorry to hear that news, and pray that a heartbeat will be found on Tuesday xx

JeffActually · 30/10/2012 21:05

Oh Skinny so very sorry Thanks

CuriosityColaKilledTheCat · 30/10/2012 21:08

Really sorry to hear that skinny
