Lyftiduft · 30/10/2012 21:17

Sorry to hear that skinny. Those dates are exactly the same as my experience just before DS- I did mc naturally, then waited for one period afterwards and got pregnant that cycle. It's a really horrible thing to happen, thinking of you :( x

Onemoreforgoodmeasure · 30/10/2012 22:12

Thanks for Skinny.

fishface2 · 30/10/2012 22:14

olimoss · 30/10/2012 22:18

ExpatMamaToBe · 30/10/2012 23:57

skinny lots of hugs xx

Sams4lo · 31/10/2012 07:47

I'm so sorry to hear that skinny :( I had a similar situation with dc2 two days before we got married and they said he was ectopic and could miscarry anytime! But after 10 days of scans blood tests and horrendous worry they said I went against all medical knowledge! Dc2 is now 6 and has a few issues and had quite a lot at when he was younger but is here :) I hope I don't make u feel worse just wanted to say my story in the hope it may give u a glimmer of hope xxx

SpookySparkle · 31/10/2012 07:58

Skinny I'm so sorry for you terrible news. Thinking of you at such an awful time.

kiwi5 · 31/10/2012 08:03

skinny and james so so sorry to hear your sad news

SunnyL · 31/10/2012 11:21

I was feeling really good last night so went to Zumba. About half way through I started to get seriously nauseous. It was made more difficult because my sister was there and I haven't told her yet. She'll be over the moon I'm just being very very cautious and haven't told anyone yet (other than my husband).

She'll kill me in a couple of weeks when I tell her. She was feeling all guilty thinking her 9yr old had given me his tummy bug.

MummyInHeels · 31/10/2012 11:30

So sorry skinny. Thinking of you xxx

summerymummery · 31/10/2012 11:36

Oh! sorry to hear the sad news, skinny...

SunnyL - it's a bit of a nightmare not wanting to tell people when you are so nauseous! Hehe. I feel your pain. I spent all of yesterday feeling god-awful at my desk at work and not being able to get any sympathy from the boss or my colleagues...

Went to the GP today to get myself officially booked into the system. It has made me feel a bit rubbish. He wasn't very friendly about it, especially when I said I didn't want to be booked into the hospital that he automatically started filling in the booking form for. I am right that I do have some choice (well, to ask at least, even though the hospital I want to go to might say no)? I had my last at a hospital near my work as it was so much easier to pop over the road for appointments rather than shlep miles to where I live, and also it meant my other half could come with me to all my appointments.

PseudoBadger · 31/10/2012 12:09

I'm having a really tough time holding off the nausea today. All tricks from the past two weeks are failing....

ExpatMamaToBe · 31/10/2012 12:12

Good morning All Smile A small dilemma at my end. Went to the hospital today to sign up for my 1st scan, expected a long waiting list. Instead, they booked me for next Tue (8 weeks). Now I keep wondering whether I should wait a few more weeks until I'm 12? Will there be so much difference in what the doctor can see? Confused

SpookySparkle · 31/10/2012 12:47

Expat google scan images, the difference between 8 and 12 weeks is really quite amazing, baby does so much developing in these first few months, that being said, there would be a baby and a heart beat by that point so theres no harm in going early

PseudoBadger · 31/10/2012 12:54

They can't do the nuchal test that early though. Do they know your dates?

Onemoreforgoodmeasure · 31/10/2012 13:08

Expat, maybe they plan to scan you twice? Hearing/seeing a heart beat at 8 weeks bodes well statistically, maybe your Trust has the staff/time/funds to offer more scans?

pinkapples · 31/10/2012 14:52

Not felt sick at all today! Woohoo for the first time in 2 weeks I feel very chilled although I have been eating lots which has helped I think x

CuriosityColaKilledTheCat · 31/10/2012 15:18

summery you are perfectly within your rights to choose a hospital that's convenient for you. Don't let it put a downer on things for you.

expat it might just be procedure for your area. Definitely worth checking that they have your details right though.

My doctor was keen to stress I was 'only just' pregnant and not to hurry trying to arrange my booking in appointment. I phoned anyway and they can't see me until I'm nearly 13 weeks pregnant. My scan is the day after [hhmm]

Lesson of the day. Paper bags on planes hold sick. Paper bag your prescription comes in doesn't [hblush]

Onemoreforgoodmeasure · 31/10/2012 16:17

Oh dear Curiosity, you poor thing.

AlohaMama · 31/10/2012 16:56

...two hours later...OK I think I've caught up with all the highs and lows, so figured I should say 'hi' and join in. Sorry to those have a tough time of it right now, particularly skinny - my thoughts are with you right now.

I'm 5 +5 (I think), due June 28th by my calculations but not confirmed that with the Dr yet. Oh and this is #2 (ds 18 mo). Nausea has kicked in (yay!) and am now in that horrible time of having to fabricate random reasons of why I can't eat/drink this/that/other, to explain away the sickness and why I'm spending all day sipping iced water. Particularly at work. Happy days!

ExpatMamaToBe · 31/10/2012 17:05

Thanks everybody, I'm gonna sleep on it. GP simply referred me for a scan, told me to go to the hospital and sign up. And the lady at the hospital didn't know anything, she just gave us available spots next week and when we looked at her very confused, she said 'as you want'. I'm going to speak to the GP again and see what he says. Thanks again.

The nuchal scan is only done here if you've got history in the family so we'll have to do it privately.

Sunbeam18 · 31/10/2012 17:26

Expat, did your doctor not refer you to a midwife to book in? That's what happens here, and I called the central number for the midwife and was assigned one, given a booking-in appt (at approximately 8 weeks) and a scan date at 12 weeks.

Sarah2506 · 31/10/2012 17:36

Afternoon all, So I'm on the sofa watching endless old episodes of Friends. I didn't sleep very well last night, crawled into work at 10 and then made up some big, 'Goodness me what on earth could be wrong with me' drama to then escape again at midday! I kind of think they must know, my boobs are the size of a small planet and I went in wearing a wrap dress today though so barely wrapped it was indecent! I haven't slept well since finding out, keep 'working at home' and am Friends series 5 accordingly! But wanted to jump in and say hi, and hope everyone is well today.

Does anyone else just eat their way through the day? I feel so sick if I don't. Today I have had cereal, cereal bar, large bread roll, giant wasabi tofu curry, package of revels and an ice lolly. Oh and a Graze box. I think I'm going to be one of the four stone weight gain mommas, throwing my stomach over my shoulder for safe keeping for years after. So am I the only one or is anyone else sitting there reading this and thinking, 'actually you know, a massive pot of curry sounds AWESOME right now'?!?!

xx
