Queen and Stacey hope you are both feeling better soon.

I am not feeling great myself today have been having what feels like period pains on and off for a few days now, but today I feel sick and very shaky. Have a scan on Monday and mw appointment on Tuesday so hoping they will put my mind at rest.

To make things worst have just got back from picking up my little dogs ashes from the vets and it has started me off all over again.Sad

Have a hairdressers appointment this afternoon so going to sit there and enjoy being pampered.

Hope everyone else is feeling ok.

HoneyMum21 · 14/09/2012 13:02

MIL countdown minus 4 hours. Dreading it. Dreading her telling me everything im doing wrong/all the horrible stuff that will happen in the first few months/everything she doesn't like about the new house (which will all be my fault)/how I'm looking fat/crowing over the fact thatshr and DH will share a bottle of wine and she knows I would like a glass... I'll stop there.

Hope all those feeling rotten feel better soon. I've got a stinking cold and thought I might get away with having the boots lemon and glycerin medicine as there is nothing actually medicinal in it- just soothes but the lady in boots looked very dubious...

PrunellaDeVille · 14/09/2012 13:36

crikey, i think i need Wine, certainly Brew and Biscuit - we've just won the bid on a wreck of a barn in a Cotswolds village on the promise we'd be able to make the exchange quickly and smoothly. Although DH has done property before i'm a novice and seriously daunted and Shock - we were the lowest bidder apparently but with the best story (local and expecting). What ridiculous timing, 12 weeks to go.
sorry for the me me me but i'm panicing

FriendofDorothy · 14/09/2012 13:44

I share your pain Prunella - we have 10 weeks to get into the wreck of our house.

I bit the bullet and went up to the mat ward just to get checked. She listened for a heart beat and all seemed fine. She has asked me just to keep an eye on things and if he isn't moving more to call then again tonight. She was very nice but I did feel quite stupid to be honest :(

knottyhair · 14/09/2012 13:45

Sorry so many are feeling rough, and Cherry, sorry again about your little dog. Have you got any plans for the ashes? Prunella, wow, I think congratulations??!! Brilliant news Smile.

knottyhair · 14/09/2012 13:46

Friend, glad you got checked out, and don't feel stupid, better safe than sorry.

Bellaboo123 · 14/09/2012 13:52

Thank it's Friday...i'm exhausted and ready for bed!
Congrats Prunella and glad all is OK Friend LO does that to me and it makes me sooo para, i went up to EPU once and also felt a bit stupid being there but they were lovely.
Thinking of you Cherry that's so sad
Sorry to all of you feeling poo...i just think i'm generally sleeping badly now and accepting this is going to be the way forward...positive thinking NOT!

Well i've booked my 4D scan and i'm going tomorrow...sooooooooo excited! Will let you all know how it goes.
Roll on 5 o'clock i want to go home!!!

Queenofsiburbia · 14/09/2012 16:12

honey I speak on behalf of the thread with Angry looks and hands on hips at your MIL, she sounds like a nightmare. We're all behind you if you want to do a sharp retort. Use our combined grumpy hormones!

Some homemade Tomato soup with abit too much chilli to clear my nose is helping me. Decided to stick to 2 paracetemol in morning & 2 before bed.
cherry Sad about your little doggie. That bit is very hard. Took me a few years to do anything with my dog's ashes.

Thanks for honey & lemon clarella super impressed with cool calm & collected demeanour. Very pleased your bean is having fun keeping you amused stacey, sounds like rest was essential.

prunella my parents did similar with both if my mothers pregnancies... Worth it in the end but don't be scared if being a complete diva/princess otherwise builders will arrange your living arrangements to save themselves the tiniest bit of hassle!

Mmmmmm new pot of nutella!

MyDaydream · 14/09/2012 16:28

Honey I find saying "Oh do fuck off you mad cow" in my head while smiling politely at MIL saves my sanity somewhat.

I'm on countdown to in laws invasion on Sunday (MIL, BIL and SIL), we pick our keys up tomorrow and they're coming over to 'help' pack. If I get to the end of the day without telling someone to fuck off out loud I deserve a medal.
Prunella a glass of wine is definitely deserved, congratulations on your new home!
Friend Glad everything was okay at the hospital, no need to feel stupid when you were concerned. Much better you go and it all turns out okay than not go and there be something wrong.

Queen I'm coming round yours for some of that soup and some Nutella. My pot is nearly done.
Hope everyone who's worried or having pains and problems get some rest this weekend and everything is fine next week. I also hope we all get some decent sleep since we all seem to be struggling.

MaMaPo · 14/09/2012 16:29

Hallo, can I jump in? I have been meandering around MN for a little while but haven't properly got stuck in, but then I read WeeJo08's post from this morning and realised that I could have written it myself - beginning to get terrible nights' sleep; pregnancy heartburn just arrived and I hate it already; but luckily off for holiday. Hooray.

Anyway, I live in London and I'm about 27 weeks (though I keep losing count). It's my first pregnancy and I'm enjoying it so far (except for the lack of alcohol - and the heartburn).

So, hi!

SpottyTeacakes · 14/09/2012 17:06

Welcome MaMaPo Grin

knottyhair · 14/09/2012 17:07

Hi Mamapo! Feeling your pain re: heartburn and crappy sleep!

WeeJo08 · 14/09/2012 17:12

FFS - just went round to the doctor's to leave in the info for my Fit to Fly certificate (as I was instructed to do by my doctor) and the receptionist says, "Oh, how strange that your doctor asked you to do that, she's off on holiday until the 26th September."

AAARRRRRGGGGGGHHHHHHHH!!!!!

Have left the info anyway and the receptionist says another doctor can do it but it would be just far less stressful if it had gone the way I'd hoped!! Oh well, I shall just be an annoying bitch persistent and call them on the hour, every hour regularly on Monday to remind them about it. Grin

MaMaPo Hiya! Seems like we're twins! Whereabouts in London are you?

Prunella Congratulations!! Daunting, I'm sure, but still definitely cause for celebration! :)

Honey & MyDaydream Come on here and swear whenever necessary - we're always happy to help on that front! Grin

Queenofsiburbia · 14/09/2012 17:23

Hi mamapo. I'm looking forward to a gin & tonic!

Good luck all with in laws!

JoJoB77 · 14/09/2012 17:25

Hi all, havent read thru properly so just a quick one..

naomi i used TENS machine while in labour with DD. I put it on, well DH did once contractions had started & i didnt take it off until after i'd delivered! It was a godsend for me, moreso in the early stages but it must have made some difference to the later stages as got by with just gas & air. I borrowed a friends last time, it was a Lloyds pregnancy one. This time ive got the same but 2nd hand off eBay. Would definitely recommend.

Re heartburn... Im getting it more frequently now so i will be getting a prescription from the doc when i see him at 30 weeks. Did it last time so i hope its still possible this time!

Hope all ok & looking forward to the weekend Smile

Secondsop · 14/09/2012 17:50

Welcome mamapo. I too am in London and 27 weeks.

Honey I don't envy you with the inlaws. My husband's inlaws are perfectly nice but he wants them to fly over for the birth itself, despite my protestations that i'm simply not going to want a set of houseguest's at that time. We'll see.

MyDaydream · 14/09/2012 18:04

Welcome Mamapo, have a good holiday.

I'm getting a bit jealous of all these holidays and babymoons, although my DP has booked my birthday surprise which I think is a posh hotel and restaurant trip, so maybe I'll be getting one too, although he's giving nothing away.
WeeJo I feel bad bitching about the in laws because compared to some of the threads on here they're tame. It's just a total opposite up brining, whereas my mum took a step back and let me find my own way and make mistakes from my early teens, MIL is still a helicopter parent! She once came and picked 21year old BIL up from our house at 1am so he didn't have to get the bus the next day. It's a 45 minute drive each way! She then obviously moans they're useless and can't do anything for themselves.
Seconds I'd put my foot down for flying over after the birth, is he wanting them in the room or just in the country? MIL has booked 10 days following my due date off work so she can come over and 'help', it's not happening.

PurplePidjin · 14/09/2012 18:10

Hello MaMaPo!

Good luck to all those with new houses i still remember am traumatised by moving into my "project" 7 years ago...

I went to a sling meet today! Was a bit worried it'd be full of tie dye and dreadlock types since it was held at the cafe attached to the Steiner school but it was lovely, and the organiser likes MN on farcebook so that means she's sound, right? :o

SpottyTeacakes · 14/09/2012 18:39

That sounds great pidj

This baby is still breech and I wish he would turn because I'm fd up of all the low down bladder kicks grrrrr

ellliebelle · 14/09/2012 18:45

Honey i love that coat but well out of my price range :( also im planning that this time next year ill be 2 dress sizes smaller than i was pre pregnancy so hopefully anything i buy this year will definately be too big next year

MyDaydream · 14/09/2012 18:46

Pidj Sounds great. I need to go along to a sling meet, I'm so confused by them all and my local one does a fitting and library service for a small fee, I'm going to do that rather than going just on what I'd read.
Spotty I've been getting loads of low down kicks, it shocks me so much because of the shudder that seems to come with it. Although he's a bladder kicker at night and getting closer and closer to my ribs during the day.

PurplePidjin · 14/09/2012 18:54

PidjChick is head down, i just get head butted in the bladder instead. Plus kicked in the something that makes me feel all light-headed and wibbly... I don't think there's any escspe tbh

Definitely go and play, Daydream. I got to practise and some advice on making my own mei tei, plus meeting like-minded local mums is a big bonus for inexperienced me!!

utopian99 · 14/09/2012 19:00

spotty our NCT woman said she'd heard of woman managing to encourage a breach baby to turn by shining a torch at the base of the bum, or putting a hotwater bottle at the base and bag of frozen peas at the top (?) apparently your LO will want to get their head near the warmth..

welcome mamapo I'm 27 weeks today as well!

jojo and any others who've done it before - how much does it cost to hire a TENS machine and can you do it through your hospital? Are they generally helpful, do you think?

kate2boysandabump · 14/09/2012 19:11

mamapo Welcome

stacey and queen Hope you both feel better soon.

Friend I'm glad you got checked out and everything was fine.

A TENS machine was very helpful to me, it was the only thing I had for both deliveries other then gas and air. You can hire them from pharmacies and on mail order. I hired mine from Boots both times and it was about £25, This was 7 years ago though, I haven't looked into it yet.

I'm hoping my winter coat will go over my bump, it's a swing coat so quite roomy at the bottom.

Swimming for me today, with a selection of bald men Hmm I hate getting out of the water now my bump is soooo heavy.

Bellaboo123 · 14/09/2012 19:15

I think I've developed a craving for sausage rolls - I can't get enough of them and I usually HATE them!!! Anyone else?

Hello newbie - on phone so can't remember name sorry!!!
