Spotty I find rennies better than gaviscon tbh, maybe give those a go?

SpottyTeacakes · 13/09/2012 19:08

I find Rennies good for indigestion, not tried them for heartburn in a while it's hard to find the sugar free ones though. Wish I could have the yummy fruit flavoured things you can get!

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 13/09/2012 19:22

Ooo dunno if mine are sugar free I've just got peppermint tablet things. They don't taste like chalk like gaviscon!

ellliebelle · 13/09/2012 20:29

stacey hope you are feeling better definately stay in bed if you can get help with the dc's

I totally empathise with thoughs of you suffering whilst trying to sleep. I am fortunate in that i am getting some sleep albeit disturbed i also wake every time i turn over it takes forever to do and i can feel the back of my pelvis crack 3/4 times every time :( very painful. Also find getting to sleep difficult bump feels heavy like its hanging but also uncomfortable with a pillow under it :(

Has anyone managed to find a maternity coat (prefrebly on the highstreet) thats not rediculously over priced? Im feeling a little desperate with the sudden change in weather. Im a childminder and i walk 3 school runs a day ideally need somethingwith a hood so i dont have to carry a brolly

SpottyTeacakes · 13/09/2012 20:49

SadSadSad I've run out of Gaviscon

knottyhair · 13/09/2012 22:04

Oh no Spotty! Is there anywhere around that sells it, a garage or Tesco Express or anything? I must admit, I just buy a bottle everytime I go shopping and have them dotted around the house.

HoneyMum21 · 13/09/2012 22:52

i've got this coat it's not a maternity one but the shape of it will accomodate bump for a while (possibly till the end if i'm lucky) and will be good after LO is out and is a very flattering shape!

Secondsop · 13/09/2012 23:26

ellie I've got a non-maternity coat that's military-style in shape so roomy around the lower half, and I'm hoping that'll see me through.

Secondsop · 13/09/2012 23:27

Can I ask what pattern of movement you're feeling? I used to feel the baby more after I've eaten, but lately he seems to go nuts when I'm hungry and then be much stiller after I've eaten.

PurplePidjin · 13/09/2012 23:31

Whenever I'm tired and want to sleep, Seconds - so late night, sparrow fart and mid afternoon if i want forty winks Hmm

SpottyTeacakes · 14/09/2012 06:39

Nearest shop is twenty minutes away knotty I managed to get to sleep pretty quickly though so wasn't too bad.

second I think mine is the same as you. Can't really notice a pattern tbh but definitely getting more movement and some really big ones last night after them feeling more 'clickey' throughout the day if that makes sense to anyone?!

Six weeks of work after today Grin

Secondsop · 14/09/2012 08:58

My baby once kicked "downwards", if you get my drift, whilst I was in the middle of an internal exam with speculum in situ. I wasn't massively impressed with that, I must say.

FriendofDorothy · 14/09/2012 09:07

I am having one of those mornings when I feel all anxious about everything. Baby was proper wriggling around last night but this morning I am wondering if I have felt any movement. I think I have but not I can't get him to move to reassure me.

Think I will wait a while before phoning midwives or anything though.

Secondsop · 14/09/2012 09:12

friendofdorothy is there anything that usually gets the baby going that you can try, to reassure yourself? Eg a cold drink, something sweet, a bit of a prod? Hope all is well.

Queenofsiburbia · 14/09/2012 09:19

friend my community midwife said two completely contradictory things to me about movement.
Firstly, they do sleep alot, (babies in tummies, not midwives Wink) just like when they are born so there will be times when they seem very still. However, she said if there were worries, if I had really noticed a period of stillness to call the hospital midwives as they do not mind at all and will ask questions to help determine if it's just normal paranoia or anything more.

I am lying in bed feeling shocking with a temperature so will probably be quite active on MN today!

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 14/09/2012 09:32

queen I'll be around too as had some pain walking back from them school so 'resting' again so bored

utopian99 · 14/09/2012 09:34

spotty also Envy about prams are arriving, naomi we're the same as you, have picked what we want from the shop but need to buy on ebay/gumtree and DH has said to wait till late October so we can get the latest version for cheaper as they'llhave been out longer.. arghghgh...

NaomiRuth · 14/09/2012 10:23

I'm working at home today, seeing midwife for 25 wk appointment this afternoon. Just had new freezer delivered so now have all our new white goods!

Had a very interesting chat with a friend with a 15 month old this week. She swears by a TENs machine for labour. Thinking of hiring this one.
www.birthease.co.uk/birthease_shop/Elle-TENs-Machine-Hire.shtml

Does anyone have experience? Should I buy or hire?

Friend hope you get some movement soon. I get days like that too.
Hope those feeling bad are ok and can get some rest.

WeeJo08 · 14/09/2012 10:24

It's Friday! Finally! Another really crap night's sleep and I'm so sore this morning. In more good news, I think the pregnancy heartburn has decided to kick in too! MARVELOUS!

Seriously, all I do is moan at the moment! Must snap out of it! Going on holiday next week so shall focus on that!

Honey That coat is really lovely - I might drop hints about it! It looks really comfy but flattering too - a rare combination! I like that it has a hood too because I think struggling with a pram and an umbrella might be tricky!

Stacey and Spotty Think I'm going to buy Rennies AND Gaviscon - do you reckon I can use my maternity exemption card?? Blush

Queen & Stacey Hope the pain/high temp subsides soon and you feel better in time for the weekend.

knottyhair · 14/09/2012 10:47

Naomi, I used a TENS machine with DS. It was brilliant for the final few weeks of pregnancy as well, when I had a lot of backache - I used to have it on every evening whilst watching TV. Certainly really good for early stages of labour for me, although I don't think it would've touched the pain later on, can't really remember all a bit of a blur have blanked it out to limit trauma.

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 14/09/2012 11:07

weejo I seriously doubt you'd be able to use your exemption card unless u got them on prescription. The rennies I got were a pack of about 60 for a few quid. I bought them a few weeks ago as I average taking about 2 a day.

Trying not to eat fatty foods late at night helps too or whole big bars of chocolate

WeeJo08 · 14/09/2012 11:28

Stacey Yep, you're right - just back from the chemist now and had to pay - HOW OUTRAGEOUS!! Grin It was 3 for 2 so got a bottle of Gaviscon and two packets of Rennies and then went to Tescos and got some chocolate to cheer me up Blush

FriendofDorothy · 14/09/2012 11:49

Hah. Just be grateful you get anything free. I get no free prescriptions, so free dental care and I even have to pay to see the GP. I do miss the good old NHS at times!

Clarella · 14/09/2012 12:15

get well soon chick.

That coat is lovely honey - I'm hoping a similar 'swing' coat I bought a few years ago, at the time thinking ooh look a bump will fit will work, it might be boobage that doesn't fit! Will have to dig out, its definately suddenly autumn.

Another weird blood test result, I was tested again for slapped cheek 5 weeks ago and had the follow up last week; when I went back to school after 20 week quarantine clearance there was a confirmed case and my collegue (in my class/unit) thought her daughter had it and as the hospital midwives confused me about whether it could be an issue past 20 weeks (basically much less chance of mc, but baby could still get sick), it being the last week of term and so would have no idea if any under the weather infectious child might go on to get the rash which diagnoses it and my uncontrollable anxiety which resulted in me ending up in hospital for palpitations (and general hysteria) I just had the test - as much as anything to be able to stop worrying about it. I had the follow up test to see if its incubated in the meantime has come back questionable, so another test in 4 weeks. This time though I am very proud to say I am NOT anxious, probably cos I know baby is bigger and stronger now (i'll be 30 weeks on Monday), plus there's only a 25% chance of it being passed on to him, and they'd be able to monitor him, worse case scenario is a blood transfusion.

And I will be sternly re-reading this aloud to myself on my note pad later on!

Tens machine - my sister swore by it, plus it helps sore backs anyway so good if you're a bit tweaky. She only used that with gas and air in the end.

Happy Friday hope everyone survives and feels better soon xx

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 14/09/2012 12:32

clarella well done on your calm approach :) you're right after 20 weeks there is a much reduced risk for baby. All will be fine.

Well I'm majourly bored of laying in bed but have had no more bleeding and no pains today so hopefully I will be back to normal next week! And tadpole has been a real fidget arse today so that's kept me happy.

friend pay to see the gp? Gosh that's rubbish! I'm so thankful for free prescriptions and dental!
