Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
PurplePidjin · 20/09/2012 13:57

A baby is classed as Term from 37 weeks, so 4 weeks before due date = 1 week prem. I think Confused

I doubt they'd induce at 33 weeks unless in the utmost extreme emergency?

SpottyTeacakes · 20/09/2012 13:58

No, the count them as four weeks prem. dd had her age corrected by four weeks until she was a year old

SpottyTeacakes · 20/09/2012 14:04

Apparently four weeks is the cut off point for adjusting whether induced or natural though. Oh I think I'm just being over sensitive Blush

PurplePidjin · 20/09/2012 14:42

So, a 37 week baby is Term, but a 36+6 baby is 4 weeks prem? Bizarre! Confused

SpottyTeacakes · 20/09/2012 14:45

Yeah it's weird I suppose dd could have been two weeks late if I hadn't been induced so could have been six weeks prem Confused anyway because she was so big family were all like 'oh you must have got your dates wrong blah blah' completely forgetting how poorly she was!

Secondsop · 20/09/2012 14:49

Spotty could she have misunderstood your text, so that when you said that it was shit she'd be induced early, she thought you meant that she was talking shit by saying she'd be induced early? If it were me I'd personally have been glad of a warning that early induction can be awful.

Has anyone been asked to count the baby's movements? I haven't, and my next appointment isn't till 33 weeks (33 so that they can discuss the results of my 32 week scan).

Clarella · 20/09/2012 14:50

Well I suppose technically we aren't even pregnant for 2 weeks of our pregnancy! Extra bizzareness.

DH gets really edgy when I say 37 wks, which I'm saying frequently to get us all into gear sorting the house out.

First nct meeting tonight - why am I getting funny about what to wear?!

Mmmm those curry etc all sound lovely. Just remembered 80 or 70% chocolate is supposed to be equal to most cough medicines (you may have to eat more than we are allowed caffeine wise but proper cocoa with milk and honey is a nice placebo type medicine :) )

Pls tell us how to do the bear!

PurplePidjin · 20/09/2012 14:52

Officially I'm due 30/11 but as i pointed out to my boss, PidjBoy could show up any time between 8/11 and 13/12 and still be. Full term baby. And people wonder why i don't say a specific date when asked!

PurplePidjin · 20/09/2012 14:55

[ bear ] but without the spaces

SpottyTeacakes · 20/09/2012 14:55

Bear it's just bear in [ ] Grin

Clarella · 20/09/2012 15:20

Oh yes doh id been trying Cuddles

Bear [cat] [dog] poo they don't work.

It's like the joy of Logo again! Grin

utopian99 · 20/09/2012 15:46

clarella have fun at your nct tonight! I got worried about good impressions before our first meeting, think i feel like everyone must look at me thinking 'she's got no idea what she's doing', but they were really nice, and all in much the same state as us!

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 20/09/2012 15:52

Going out for a meal tonight (if I manage to keep food in my stomach before then) as DH heads off to India tomo.

I still only really count due date as 'term' lol with dcs I say they were both 9 days early, which they were from due date. I'm hoping this one follows suit tbh!

MyDaydream · 20/09/2012 16:02

Sorry to hear there are so many of you feeling ill at the minute, I'm dreading catching anything because I'm being so pathetic about everything as it is.
Spotty hope your friend is okay, that sounds like the kind of thing I'd say to brush off my worry and not make people go OTT about it. My friend gave birth to both hers at 35 weeks and they were fine.
Seconds my MW didn't tell me to count them, but said I should be looking for some kind of regularity in movement from about 28 weeks.
Clarella have fun at NCT, anything like that makes me super panic about what to wear to give the right impression of myself!
Last night got even worse when I came downstairs to MIL, BIL and SIL polishing off the last of my cheesecake because MIL had 'low blood sugar' again. Funny how she only has it when she wants something yummy and expensive we have in that she doesn't buy at home, or when she wants us to go to the shop when she can't be arsed. I cried and told DP to make them leave but he wouldn't, so when they did another trip to the new house I sobbed for an hour because I just feel so shit and they weren't helping. But just before he came home I got a massive kick that shook my belly, so he actually came home to me singing Bruce Springsteen and laughing at my jiggly belly!

HoneyMum21 · 20/09/2012 16:51

i have officially started what i have been terming the 'scary shopping' - breast pads and maternity pads. Is the Lansinoh (sp?)nipple cream really much better than a boots own brand? Is it worth the price?

And is sudocrem or metanium better?

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 20/09/2012 17:16

honey sudocrem is a barrier so is intended to be used every nappy change. Whereas metanium is to treat nappy rash (really thick yellow stuff, hard to get off but works like a dream!)

HoneyMum21 · 20/09/2012 17:17

thanks stacey

EggsMichelle · 20/09/2012 17:26

Daydream that made me giggle, the Bruce Springsteen and jiggly belly, not the lack of cheesecake, that just mean.

My manager paid me a visit in my dungeon office and told me off for not abusing the sickness policy and enjoying more time at home. I can't help it, I have this inert determination to be stubborn and go to work even if I only stay 5hrs!

mwahmwah · 20/09/2012 17:26

Honeymum, lansinoh is the doggies' doo dahs. Worth every penny. Sorts cracked nipples a treat and u can slather it on without worrying about poisoning bub (added relief!) I used for both babies and newsy fed ds till he was 16 months Blush once ur past the initial soreness tho u'll not need it. Nipples sort themselves after about a month I find Grin till then it's tantamount to those nipple clops weirdos use during sex (erm I imagine)!

EggsMichelle · 20/09/2012 17:28

Spotty sadly texts never portray emotion or vocal tone, they are lethal for misinterpreting

mwahmwah · 20/09/2012 17:29

Oh dear typos! That was 'breast fed' and 'nipple clips' ffs bloody phone!

HoneyMum21 · 20/09/2012 17:34

hehe mwah, i'll believe you don't actually know about things like that Grin thanks for the tip- am looking at it on amazon and they have it reduced a bit. Although, what's the difference between the HPA lanolin cream here and the sore nipple cream here ? (god, i'm clueless)

SpottyTeacakes · 20/09/2012 18:06

I really want to breast feed this time but I'm pretty scared I keep reading all the threads from people having an awful time Sad

Bacon, mash, beans and cheese for dinner Grin

mwahmwah · 20/09/2012 18:10

Both look awful similar to me! I think I used the first one... Its consistency is like REALLY thick vaseline that is actually quite hard to squeeze out the tube if its not warm. Oh and it turns everything yellow, breast pads r a must. I found that out after ruining various nursing bras. Idiot. Its greasy so doesn't wash out. It is amazing tho (unlike the Savoy cabbage leaves which were also recommended to me???)

HoneyMum21 · 20/09/2012 18:13

spotty stop reading the bad stories Wink I have no experience of feeding as this is dc1 but I'm working on the basis of trying as hard as I can to breastfeed but trying to prepare myself not to beat myself up if there's a problem (easier said than done!)
