Love garbage! I have hoody envy, were they as brilliant as I imagine?

Barbeasty · 19/09/2012 20:49

Cookies I saw the midwife today and I'm measuring 30 weeks and was 28 weeks on Monday. She wasn't worried, but last time at this point I was measuring a few weeks small and went on to have a 9lb baby....

I'm still tired after a really busy weekend. Spotty, I have to apologise for being part of the Goodwood traffic on Sunday. But we had a really good day there. DD enjoyed the racing, and there was lots of wriggling from the bump too.

Glad all the test results are good.

SpottyTeacakes · 19/09/2012 20:52

I forgive you Barbeasty I went to Guildford to avoid it Grin did you dress up?

Barbeasty · 19/09/2012 20:54

Just make sure your DH knows to only carry the smaller bag in at first. Poor DH took both my bags in and then had to take them both out when I was transfered to another hospital. He still took them both in again and was lugging them between floors!

This time he's trying to suggest I only take a carrier bag into the delivery suite.

Barbeasty · 19/09/2012 20:56

Lots of cross posting here. Yes, I was wearing a Jojo's dress which could pass for old fashioned, as was DD, and DH went in Goodwood overalls.

My Dad and his girlfriend went too and he is VERY judgemental of the people who don't dress up.

HoneyMum21 · 19/09/2012 20:58

Yes, they were stunningly amazing! I love my hoody, hence still being angry with dream-theif-barman!

I know this has probably been covered earlier but pregnancy-sieve brain is in overdrive. I think i know what to pack in hospital bag for me (although will prob panic about that next week!) but what should i pack for baby while we're i hospital. Should i take him a towel and stuff? How many changes of clothes should i take for him?!What else will we need/are we expected to have with us?!

EggsMichelle · 19/09/2012 20:58

Garbage envy over here too, I love them! I packed Shrimpy's bag today, just need to buy nappies and wash all his clothes nearer the time. Bought maternity pads and disposable pants today in tesco, now I need DH to give me back my holder!

SpottyTeacakes · 19/09/2012 21:07

For the baby you won't need towels as they don't need a bath for a few days. Take 3 grows, 3 vests, a hat, nappies, cotton wool, a little pot for water and a blanket. Then snowsuit for leaving hospital. If you run out your dp can bring more in. Dd didn't change her grow for a few days ( in SCBU they only change them if they're dirty).

Bubbless · 19/09/2012 21:40

so hard to keep up now im back at work, i will read everything ive missed tomorrow, but for now...
ive got my 25w mw appt tomorrow, finally!
what can i expect? kinda nervous as its with a doc rather than the mw because she was fully booked, will this make a difference?

emilyeggs · 19/09/2012 22:11

bubbles I had mine with a doc because of a past back problem I have. All she did was ask how my back was now (fine) and then did all normal stuff..... Listened to the heartbeat, measured the bump and took bP. In and out in 10 minutes. Other ladies have said that they didn't even have their bumps measured at 24 weeks as its not quite accurate until 28 wks Hmm

MyDaydream · 19/09/2012 22:20

Bubbless my 25 week was boring, urine test, blood pressure test, listened to heartbeat and measured my bump. Can't imagine it being with the GP will be any difference.
I've been invaded by in laws again this evening, MIL was meant to be coming for dinner and to transport some boxes, turned up with BIL and SIL and they all just stood in the kitchen getting in my way while I cooked, DP went without dinner so everyone could eat because I only cooked for 3 and I was so stressed/overwhelmed/pissed off I couldn't face eating so just went and sit on the bed and cried because I want my house back. Asked them to measure the windows at the new house so I could reserve some curtains online, MIL came back saying she knew the curtain drop and but then looked blank when I asked about width, you know, the important measurement! I had SIL crying because of some tiff with her boyfriend and I really don't care enough to ask. At one point FOUR people were upstairs putting a computer in a box and they've blocked the fucking bathroom door with all the stuff. BIL is banging about upstairs and I have the feeling he's packing some stuff I told him not to, but I'd rather he do that than sit down here talking to me. DP is saying they're doing another run to the house but I just want them to fucking go home. I understand MIL came over to help and I do appreciate it, but I didn't expect the whole family, they're being less productive because there's too many of them and it's 10.30. They're lucky I don't have a shovel and a car because I certainly have enough bin bags to dispose of three bodies.

pmgkt · 19/09/2012 22:20

No measuring at my 25 week appointment today. Just bp, pee test and heart beat.

Clarella · 19/09/2012 22:39

Looove garbage, she's such a cool lady.

First measure appt I was measuring on the bottom percentile, second on the top but the mw said its very usual to have a growth spurt between 25 and 28 wks, which I did.

Mini, I didn't even get to asking about scans, she could see I was still worried about all the ups and downs and offered me one, more for placebo-reassurance I think. She did say some nhs trusts did do later ones for hypothy but not a must unless Graves disease. Initial guilt about an extra scan has faded after I remembered all the taxes I've paid over the years!

Adding bag tips to my copy and paste list which I'll post back to you all nicely edited when I get round to it! I'm not intending on thinking about it till 33 weeks simply cos I'm doing so much unpacking still!

Good luck bubbless, should be a measure of bump, plotting on graph and a listen to heart beat, usual urine test then bloods done again at 28 wks.

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 20/09/2012 03:14

Went to Zumba last night (it's technically morning right?) 'twas good but I have to be really careful with how much energy I can put in.

I think it helped me sleep though well initially at least Hmm

As for hospital bags I'd say 3 changes for baby you can get your DH to bring more if you need them. And 1 more tip, take baby wipes. I know they try and teach you that they are the devils spawn but cotton wool and water does not clean off meconium!

SpottyTeacakes · 20/09/2012 06:29

Really bad night with dd got about four hours sleep now off to work zzzzzzz

PurplePidjin · 20/09/2012 08:09

I slept all the way from 11 to 5, why do i still feel crap? Angry

HoneyMum21 · 20/09/2012 09:22

I'm feeling like death with this cold. Slightly worried as it seems to have settled heavily on my chest. Could do without being at work today.

Couple of questions regarding ML- which months pay do they use to average out how much pay you're entitled to? And what week is it from where of you're off sick than can force you to start ML?

Clarella · 20/09/2012 10:21

Sorry to hear you are still rough honeymum - my maternity leave kicks in at 36 weeks if on sick leave but don't know if that's school guidelines. and Brew and Biscuit

SpottyTeacakes · 20/09/2012 12:53

I'm quite painful under my ribs today Sad

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 20/09/2012 12:54

Got some awful sickness bug! Bleurgh!

SpottyTeacakes · 20/09/2012 13:04

Oh poof you Stacey make sure you keep your fluids up. Have a cuddle Bear Grin

SpottyTeacakes · 20/09/2012 13:13

Argh I think I've upset my friend. She's been diagnosed with gestational diabetes and she text me saying on the plus side I get to be induced 1-4 weeks early. I didn't want her thinking being induced, especially early, was a good thing so just text saying on that's shit that you have to be induced but at least they're looking after you etc etc and she's ignored all my texts since Confused sorry we probably sound about 12 Blush

PurplePidjin · 20/09/2012 13:19

and homemade veggie curry for all the poorlies - sweet potato, green pepper, mushies, chickpeas etc will boost immune systems Bear

StrawberrytallCAKE · 20/09/2012 13:45

Ooh pidj my favourite! I'm making a chicken Mexican stew with veggies later but can leave the chicken out if needed!

spotty don't worry she's probably just coming to terms with it, 1-4 weeks early she will probably have had the steroid injection too so the baby will be fine (info taken from my consultant). She'll get back to you I'm sure, coming from someone who went missing for a while when I was told of complications.

Daydream Hope you're feeling better, that sounds awful! I would have done exactly the same as you and gone to bed crying, can't believe they didn't help you cook. My pil are coming over later they sound as thoughtful as yours.

SpottyTeacakes · 20/09/2012 13:49

Ooo Strawb that sounds yummy! The thing is I really don't think she realises the implication of a four week prem baby, it's most definitely not a plus side, and I'm probably over sensitive because dd was four weeks early and I had a horrible induction.....
