Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Sheldonella · 24/09/2012 14:00

I heard the heartbeat :) :) :) So lovely, took a while to find but was definitely there. The midwife was lovely and recommended I see my GP about CBT again. I just need to work up to making the appointment.
manda I would love a piece of your lasagne too Grin

mandasand · 24/09/2012 14:05

Sheldon woohooooo! Brilliant, cheering news! Smile And really good re CBT encouragement too. Need to be a bit brave for that sort of thing but I sense it may be hugely worthwhile ... and if not, nothing ventured, nothing gained?

Right oh, lasagne portions winging their way to you, lovely ladies! Patience, Tramp! Grin Does MrMs fast for health or other reasons?

Pink I don't think I know that restaurant so I think it would only be proper to investigate! Atomic Burger is lots of fun! Did you know that there is now an Atomic Pizza about a mile down Cowley Road? Haven't tried it yet. That looks like a really nice lasagne variation - thanks! Methinks you would like our Heidi Pie recipe, which is a large-scale version of Pieminister's own Heidi Pie, with spinach, goat's cheese, nutmeg and sweet potato. Absolutely delicious!

JoJo, sure! Will think about how best to send it (it's v. long so maybe scan and post to FB?)

I have the most amazing butternut squash soup recipe, perfect for autumnal days:

  • gently fry finely chopped onion in olive oil till translucent
  • add a whole butternut squash, cubed (or pumpkin)
  • add 4 carrots and 4 potatoes, cubed
  • after 5 few minutes add couple of pints of vegetable stock (I use bouillon), or as much as you need just to cover
  • at this point add 3 crushed garlic cloves and loads of grated fresh ginger, and a sprinkling of chilli flakes
  • cook for 20-30 mins till veggies soft
  • whizz till it's smooth either in blender or with handheld blender thing
  • add juice of ½ lemon
  • add about ⅓ of a block of coconut milk (or ⅓ of a can of coconut milk)
  • add handful of fresh coriander, chopped

I often don't have in lemons or coriander and it's still really good!

theTramp · 24/09/2012 14:23

Shel - that's fab news!!

Manda - I have a simpler vsn of that which is also yum. Dice & roast the squash. Soften & gently cook onion in pan. Add roasted squash. Add vegetable stock - I use bouillon. Stir. Let it simmer away for half an hour. Blend. Add some milk, some nutmeg & some chilli powder to taste. S'easy and dead tasty.

There's a great butternut squash & spinach lasagne recipe too. Bound to be googlable. Very tasty albeit bit of a fag to make cause you need a lot of squash & spinach.

pinkpeony4 · 24/09/2012 14:37

Sheldon Brilliant news Grin so reassuring isn't it?

Manda Atomic Pizza sounds fab! My boys love the decor of Atomic Burger. My youngest brother is in his last year at Oxford and lives around the corner so we have been a few times when visiting him. Their pulled pork & Coleslaw is delicious!
I have the Pieminister cookbook so will look for that recipe in there. It sounds right up my street!

Another really easy and delicious butternut squash recipe is to roast the squash after cutting it in half and sprinkling with ~olive oil & rosemary. When the flesh is soft scoop it out and whizz in a blender, heat in pan with some veg or chicken stock for 20 mins. Delicious and healthy too.

Sheldonella · 24/09/2012 14:40

While we are sharing squash recipes I must recommend squash and chickpea thai yellow curry. Delicious and easy here
In fact, I might make it tonight :)

EthelredOnAGoodDay · 24/09/2012 14:59

Hi all, just washed the floor and DD is watching 'rio' so thought I'd sit down for a min hour and catch up.

dame that story about the AA msn is funny!! I did A level French a few many years ago but when we went to Paris a few years ago I could barely order a sandwich or get a ticket for the metro!! I would like to brush up my skills though. Good luck in the oral possom (I think!!)
I've done a b'nut squash thing in the past where you halve the squash, rub over with olive oil and season, add couple of cloves of chopped garlic and bake (about 30 mins I think?) then take out, mash the flesh and add some cheese and put back in oven (I think for about 15).
Really tasty.
All the food chat is making me salivate!!!

Think I have felt a couple of 'flutters' last night and today. Am 15 weeks on Wednesday so guess it's possible. Not looking very of yet, still just fat! Grin

Good luck on the op Jojo, hope it all goes well.

EthelredOnAGoodDay · 24/09/2012 15:00

Very of ??!! very pg I meant to say!

zoeymlucas · 24/09/2012 15:27

I have noticed when I have sugar about 20 mins later I get flutters - so before scan on Thursday think a can of coke on way, make sure the lazy little bean moves!
Am feeling rather pleased as have just done a big online order for christmas/ birthdays as DS1 is Nov and DS2 is Jan and with baby more than likely coming Jan/Feb I want to be sorted so am just going to buy loads of stuff and then split it between birthdays and xmas! Feel a bit bad as DS1 wats an ipod touch which is like £150.00 so is main prezzie but to spend the same on DS2 his will be a huge pile and just look so much more even though I always spend the same on them - it just wont look like that to a 10 year old!!!
Thinking an early night is needed as have had to late nights (past 10.30 Hmm ) and am shattered.

How many have found out babies sex yet as thinking of doing a stat thing to see everyone and obviously people who are not finding out will be team yellow - as its also nice to see who wants a surprise and who has no patience :)

dameflamingo · 24/09/2012 15:32

so hungry after all those recipes! although I have an even faster version.. drive past Pieminster on way home buy Heidi pie, mash, peas and groovy to go. Guess what'll happen this evening! I will be a BAD mother.

zoey a good pal was telling me yesterday that at her 20 week scan her baby was in the wrong position so she was given chocolate - sure enough somersaults occured and they could check what they were looking for. Amazing! Oh yes, I'm team yellow.

Crawling towards the finish line today - could literally put head on my desk and have a sleep - work is interesting but my eyes will not stay open its like I'm a nodding dog.

Sheldonella · 24/09/2012 15:32

Ethel I have felt flutters too. I described them to the midwife and she thinks it was the baby :)
zoey Love the stats thread idea. Not long now until we know!

theTramp · 24/09/2012 16:15

Pop me on the want a surprise team.

Emus · 24/09/2012 16:34

Flipping annoyed! House move has been put back by TWO weeks now and we are all ready to go! Grrrr. Living out of boxes it is then.

All this talk about food is great. I need to be more adventurous and start mixing it up a bit. We don't really have butternut squash much even though I like it! Can't wait to have more time on my hands so that I can start cooking again. I am determined that baby is gong to get loads of variety in his/her diet.

Zoey I am up for the stats thing as we'll be finding out at our 20 weeks scan unless I go for an earlier private one. I actually suggested this a few pages back but had no takers! I have a feeling we are having a boy (team blue) so am intrigued to see if my feeling is right!

Have come up in LOADS of unsightly spots along my jaw line again and have had three days of ms (just when I thought it had gone). My back is killing me, especially at night. I read that you shouldn't lay on your back but this is the most comfortable position for me at the moment. Also helps with my blocked nose.

Sheldon so excited you got to hear baby's heartbeat today. I have my midwife appointment on the 3rd so am going to beg if she doesn't want to do it!

zoeymlucas · 24/09/2012 17:09

Emus My physio (a maternity only one) said you can lay on your back to slept till about 30 weeks and after that should lay on your side as then baby is a bit too heavy and pushes into things so you should be ok for a while yet - she said lay at 45 degrees so wth a wedge of pillows under you but my DH just moans he has no room :) I have had LOADS of spots in the last week its driving me nuts am nearly out of conceler!

Congrats on hearing babies heart beat sheldon

JoJoBella84 · 24/09/2012 18:16

I'm very impressed with my maternity clothes... I feel they make me look more pregnant, but not in a fat way, in a flattering way!! OH has promised to take a bump photo tomorrow morning, I figured being 19 weeks and not having a single bump shot is a bad thing!!

sheldon congrats on hearing the hb, what a great feeling. I wasn't allowed at 16 weeks as my MW didn't want to poke around when she knew I was due surgery but luckily I got to hear it at 13 weeks in York so I didn't mind too much.

manda I could message you my email address if it makes it easier? Rather than trying to link a scan etc?

who posted the recipe so sorry on my phone do cant check Back whilst typing!! Def going to try it - looks delicious!!!

emus living out of boxes is a pain in the arse but don't work yourself up too much. Have some tasty food (as long as you haven't packed it all away)?!!

OodHousekeeping · 24/09/2012 18:29

Hi everyone sorry no name checking again as I can't keep up.

All the recipes are making me hungry & I cane home from work with no appetite so thats not a bad thing!

Am laying on the settee with my feet up as I could hardly walk from my car. Pelvis really hurting. Plus shit day at work ( on duty & everything kicking off!).

DJH80 · 24/09/2012 18:32

I'm hugely impressed by your culinary skills ladies! I can only bring myself to cook things which take less than 20 minutes. I'm going to have to pull myself together when I actually become a mum.

Hooray for heartbeats!

KFFOREVER · 24/09/2012 18:32

Hi everyone

Sorry to have deserted you all. Lack of energy being a major factor.

16 +1 Today. Got 16wk apt tomorrow. Been getting stretching cramps over the weekend.

Put me in team yellow. I want it to be a surprise. Although most people including me thinks its a boy.

Got a new phone thats touchscreen. Its taking some getting used and may have pressed report on some comments whilst scrolling by mistake. Sorryyyyy.

JoJoBella84 · 24/09/2012 18:38

kf I do that all the time, just hit the back button and it won't report anything!!!

JoJoBella84 · 24/09/2012 18:58

tramp sorry, I missed your post!! I've done everything I can do in the house now it's an officially a building site with walls knocked out and diggers in the garden it's not safe for me to be there anymore!!! Has been a busy few weekends though! I've painted the shed, sanded and varnished the front door and surrounding panels, painted the two upstairs rooms, stripped wall paper, washed all windows and frames (I hope mrsr doesn't thing I'm being a miss perfect here - everything is just so dusty) its been a great distraction :)

backwardpossom · 24/09/2012 19:35

Yahoooooo! Exam done, that module is over and I can now relax until this October 2013! Grin Really pleased with how it went. Shame I can't have a vin rouge to celebrate..

Anyway, as you were, ladies.

sarahs999 · 24/09/2012 19:49

We need a new thread! New name, quick!

JoJoBella84 · 24/09/2012 20:05

Oooh possum I'm pleased you feel it went well :) it's amazing how stressful these things can be until they're over and you can suddenly relax. I have two in January... Just before I leave for my maternity break! Fx the stress doesn't induce labour hehe!!

GummiberryJuice · 24/09/2012 20:21

Kf I'm reporting posts all the time and like Jojo just hit back and my phone is always changing words

Possom great to get exam out of way

I'll be team yellow as well

Thread title maybe something about little beans into little pumpkins but then again we'll probably be on another thread again by Halloween

OodHousekeeping · 24/09/2012 20:23

Something to do with choosing a team?

zoeymlucas · 24/09/2012 21:16

gummi our new thread won't last 6 weeks we jabber far to much for that and plus most of us would of had 20 weeks scans before which causes even more chat!

Not looking forward to a funeral where I am not wanted but DH wants me there for support for him- let's just hope his mother stays away from me , I can't deal with her on a normal day let alone right now!!!! Even boss said I was hormonal and stressed today - only because I told him he had to pick the most important tasks today as there was no way in the world I could do everything he wanted it wasn't even actually possible- he then got people to make me coffee and leave me alone, lol!!! It's not hormones so much it's pain and it makes me grumpy as am in agony with back and spd and I know they say it's hyped mobility and back joints are moving too much that don't help with the pure agony and walking like a duck and am only 15 + 5!!

New thread should be something about taking our teams :)
