I think I've got 5kg to gain? I don't really understand it.

I'm going to be huge!!!!!!!!!!

WaitingForMe · 06/09/2012 15:28

Hmm, the pregnancy calculator comes out at 1st 6lb for me which is what I've put on so far. Sounds quite low or am I just in denial about getting fat?

YellowWellies · 06/09/2012 15:34

You need the fat stores if you are going to breast feed - it burns up 700 calories a day! And the female body of course, has no idea if you plan to bottlefeed so just puts on the weight you would need to feed naturally. My sister, whilst I was moaning about my saddlebags and called them breast feeding stores and a very sensible addition (as if I'd put the weight on as part of a wise and deliberate plane!!! love her!)

ShellyBobbs · 06/09/2012 16:20

I know what you mean YW, it's even got your boob weight on there :)

Hubby was staring at mine last night, he reckons each one weighs about 6lb lol Grin

ShellyBobbs · 06/09/2012 16:31

Waiting It said between 1st 1lb and 1st 11lb for me. I think I read somewhere that anything between 2 - 3 st is normal to put on if you are a healthy weight to start with, so if I subtract that from the above estimated gains on my actual pre-pregnancy weight, it brings my normal weight down to a 'guidance' weight and a reasonable (generous?) weight for my size. Not saying you're fat or anything Blush but it just works out really good for me.

TitsalinaBumSquash · 06/09/2012 16:43

My boobs must weigh a frickin ton! They've always been on the large size but seriously I'm not even feeding yet and I'm an H cup. Hmm

I was a slim size 10 before pregnancy at only 5ft I guess I don't get a huge allowance.

ShellyBobbs · 06/09/2012 17:03

You'll get a huge allowance, it's us overweighters that don't get much. I was 10st 4lb and 5ft 2in pre-pregnancy, I looked like a lard arse Blush.

I bet your other half thinks they are marvellous Grin. Are they both the same size as your bump then? I bet your in a bit of pain, I thought I was small with not much baby room at this height.

frenchface · 06/09/2012 17:04

Exactly 10 weeks today! Woo hoo!!

kissyfur · 06/09/2012 17:09

Oo it reckons I will put on 1st 11lbs to 2st 7lbs. I've put on 2 st 2lbs already! Blush I reckon my boobs weigh more than the 8lbs it says already tho, and the baby is down as 7lbs 5, my DD was 9lb 2! So think this one will be at least that or more. Anyway it's a good tool so thanks for posting, you do forget about the weight of all the water etc etc, and like you say yellow you need the fat stores for breastfeeding!!

WaitingForMe · 06/09/2012 17:29

Yeah we're on the same bracket of 1st 1lb and 1st 11lb ShellyBobbs. I didn't realise I was that overweight to start with. My BMI was only just showing me overweight and I was wearing a size 10.

I'm not bothered as DH and I were both over 8lb and I'm measuring at the upper end in cm (ie. it's definitely baby weight). Got 5lb to play with to be within those limits which still seems like a fair bit especially given people keep saying they reckon I'm growing a 10lb-er!

DesperateHousewife21 · 06/09/2012 17:33

lane mine was 2st 6 too! I've got about another stone or so to gain then, great!

Catbag · 06/09/2012 19:00

I ticked the box that said 'I am expecting twins' and so it didn't give me a breakdown. At least I think that was the reason as when I ran it again with that box unchecked, it did give me a breakdown. Says I can expect to gain 3 stones if expecting twins. I passed that point at 25/26 weeks. Haven't dared weigh myself recently :(

horseylady · 06/09/2012 19:11

Kissy our weight gain the same (it's loaded properly now!!) I've put on just over a stone so another 8-9lbs min

NervousAt20 · 06/09/2012 19:22

Wow tried to have a quick catch up so I'm sorry if I've missed anything

missmummy that's great news about your ex landlord not being able to contact you anymore

valium how did you get on with the rain cover? Surely even if the seller doesn't except returns they have too when the item is not as described?

mcsquared I really hope things improve with your MIL and try and be honest and open with your DH sounds like he is very supportive of your feelings and isn't afraid to tell his DM to butt out! Is it not possible for you to stay with your DM after birth for some actual support? You sound much more confident today and you are right, this is your baby do things your way and if someone gets offended then tough it's their problem and not yours!

evil haha I'm sure that was an interesting conversation for you!

I don't know what I weigh anymore and I'm not going to look until after LO is here. I'm 31w4d now

Had a very busy week, went out shopping over the weekend with MIL an got some lovely baby things and it was my birthday Tuesday so DP thought it would be nice for us to have a few days together in Paris and it was lovely Grin really nice for us to spend a couple of days together as with work sometimes it feels like we're strangers but had a really nice time and was much better then being allowed to drink on my 21st Smile and the 7 hours it took to drive wasnt actually that bad! we did so much walking and I actually feel better for it, since I've come into the 3rd trimester I feel like I have more energy now then at any other point of my pregnancy, even though sometimes its hard to out my shoes on Grin

Sorry if this is TMI but since I've got back, I'm quite swollen down below, I don't feel sore just really puffy and enlarged but I can't see down there too know what it looks like not sure I want to either any ideas of this is normal?

Hope everyone's doing well, tried to catch up on the threads as much as I can but sorry of I've missed anything. Hope everyone is well :)

applepieinthesky · 06/09/2012 19:37

mcsquared your DH sounds lovely. Make sure you keep being open with him and letting him know how you feel. He sounds like he'll be a great support to you when baby is here.

I threw a strop earlier with DP and now feel silly. We live close to his place of work and he comes home during his breaks. I had a go at him earlier because he came home for his half hour break and stood in the kitchen washing up. I wasn't happy because I would rather he sits down and relaxes with me but he was only trying to help. Shouldn't moan at him for doing housework, most people moan because their partners don't do housework!

DesperateHousewife21 · 06/09/2012 19:38

nervous I'm puffy and enlarged too with blue veins I discovered yesterday so I think you're perfectly normal!

kissyfur · 06/09/2012 19:54

horsey I'll load a pic of my bump on Facebook later so you can see the extra stone I've put on! WinkGrin

Oooh my asda monitor arrived today! Very long day at work and DP away tonight. Just put my photo up on Facebook so you can see how big bump is...feel huge and am definitely gong over the recommended weight thingy above.

ShellyBobbs · 06/09/2012 21:03

waiting My BMI was 26 (25.something) so I'd only just tipped in too, but unlike you I was a tight 12 Blush

All my lovely clean baby clothes put away in it's little drawers now, just sat there waiting for the arrival. My eldest is really excited now she's seen all the vests and babygrows :)

kirrinIsland · 06/09/2012 21:17

nervous glad you enjoyed Paris, sounds lovely

That weight tool says I should gain 2st-2st12lb so I'm actually not doing to to bad, even though I feel huge. Would like to stay closer to the 2st though!

Passmethecrisps · 06/09/2012 21:23

How come you guys are getting a break down? I just get a Graph with a star on

MissMummy1 · 06/09/2012 21:39

In a bit of a strop. DH skyping with SIL who's critiscizing all our decisions so far - ie expressing milk to mix breast/bottle feeding, hypnobirthing, etc - nothing major but I've spent the past half an hour biting my lip. She's completely brainwashed DH that because I've never had a child I know nothing. she's had one who was practically raised by my inlaws while she put her phd/social life first. I'm not ignoring her advice, I'd just like to be able to hear lots of people's advice and then form my own opinions based on what works for us. I'm just really pissed off that DH practically worships everything she says, even if it completely contradicts everything we've already spoken about. I know I'm in a shit mood anyway and being totally unreasonable - ignore me I just need to vent!

Christ, my dad wasn't joking when he said pregnancy was like living with a woman on a 9 month period!
