I don't think you're being unreasonable at all MissMummy. I'd be furious if DH placed the opinions of his sister of mine. We discuss things, we make our decisions and that is that. Yes we consider the views of others (we aren't total cunts) but we are a couple first, a household second and part of our wider family and friends third (ie. we consider the needs of the kids over the wants of extended family).

Passmethecrisps · 06/09/2012 22:02

Thanks shelly! Got it.

I have between 10Ibs and a stone and a half to go then! Not sure I am that keen on putting on much more. Feels like plenty.

Passmethecrisps · 06/09/2012 22:03

Oh, and MM1 smile and let it wash over you. She sounds like a moose.

TheDetective · 06/09/2012 23:15

It says I can gain 1st 1lb. Feckers.

Good job I've gained nowt (and lost some!) then isn't it Wink

My bump has gone huge, or so it feels, now. I'll do a picture tomorrow and put it up! It's a big difference from my last one! My boy bump is quite low I think??!

I have yet another work based rant! Not being allowed time off for my antenatal appointment next week.... yes. That's right. Great isn't it? I offered to swap my shift to the early, but they wouldn't let me, I have to find someone to swap. No one can swap, I'd already asked the 2 people who could swap. So I asked could I swap with another colleague 'out of area' ie. on LW/ANW. They won't let us do this even though they pull us to go to other areas every single day but I thought it would be far better than saying well i'll just have to go home early then. Got told no, and I should rearrange the appt. Oh, and I've not had any time off for AN care before, and this is likely to be the only one i'll need.

Also being told I can't be paid for 3 extra hours (that have accumulated through the fault of my manager mismanaging my maternity leave) that I have to take it as 'time back' by coming in an hour and a half late on 2 late shifts. Except the extra hours are from nights which is higher pay. And I don't want more time owing when we never get to use it anyway (I have a book with hours and hours of it already!). I don't want to come in late on a shift in the manner suggested because you still get allocated your patients at the start of the shift (when not even there!) and have to do the same amount of work in less time!! Why would I want the stress of that unnecessarily! I was told I was being unreasonable to expect to be paid, because the Trust is in severe financial difficulties. But I will have worked them, so should be paid!

And breathe again!

Iheartpasties · 07/09/2012 02:10

I have not been weighing myself I dont want to stress about it, I will get fit after the birth, I wanna buy a bike and one of thos trailer thingies and get out with both little ones and have picnics etc.

missmummy I hate people who hand out advice left right and centre, just because you have had one baby does not make you an expert! if someone asks my advice I try and give it and then frame it by saying something like 'this is what worked for us, but all babies are different'. Your sil can take a running jump!

My Midwife has just left, how fab is it that she was able to come to my place this time?! Awesome. Everything is fine. I told her that I have been very thirsy recently and she said not to worry and to just try and drink more but to keep an eye on things. Next appointment we are going to go over everything from last time round as there were a few things that happened that I wouldnt want repeated. I am going to drop dd off with dh for the next appointment so I can concentrate on it!

ShellyBobbs · 07/09/2012 07:38

Morning ladies.

I'm off camping later Grin. Feck it, it's actually Christmas money I'm burning but it could be my last chance to do anything remotely fun for quite a while (9 weeks anyway) so we're going straight after school, but only local. Fresh air here I come.......

ShellyBobbs · 07/09/2012 07:40

Detective, that's really shit and slightly illegal, what a massive bitch!

TitsalinaBumSquash · 07/09/2012 08:37

I went to see Total Recall at the cinema last night, I'm not usually a Colin Farrell fan but I quite enjoyed it, although I did fall asleep for about 15 mins in the middle Blush this means i've come full circle, in my first 10 weeks of pregnancy I spent my cinema time asleep and now it seems true of the last 10 weeks! Grin

Currently on a train to London for DS's op, I think someone has farted, it's making me feel quite queasy. Hmm

ValiumQueen · 07/09/2012 09:02

tits hope DS gets on fine with the op. Thinking of you.

detective it is NHS policy to allow time off for appts!

NervousAt20 · 07/09/2012 09:26

Thanks DH

An thanks kirrin :) it was lovely

Good luck today for your DSs op tits

applepieinthesky · 07/09/2012 09:30

Never mind policy, it's the law!

horseylady · 07/09/2012 09:31

Detective - what's been said already they can't refuse!!

applepieinthesky · 07/09/2012 09:35

See this link detective

MissMummy1 · 07/09/2012 09:38

Thanks all. Was in a foul mood yesterday, and she didn't help. DH clearly understood he'd pissed me off too (he slept downstairs with the dog..) and brought me breakfast in bed this morning. I'd actually forgotten I'd stropped off to bed really grumpy last night... The cow my delightful sil lives in ireland and is moving to australia soon so we rarely see her. His other 2 susters are lovely but typically the one I can't stand is the one he gets on with and likes best. Grr. Rant over - I'll be in a better mood today, honest!

Detective I'd have thought working with other midwives they'd know how important it is you are allowed time off for appointments etc? It's not like you're taking the piss because as you say it is only one appointment! If I were you I'd just 'accidentally' be too sick to go into work that day... Hope they see sense and get it sorted! Remind me never to work for the NHS!!

ValiumQueen · 07/09/2012 09:59

detective I am also allowed to put on 1st1lb. Have put on 6 lb so far, so happy with that. Clearly we must be the lardy ones Grin.

I have finally discovered Iplayer. I am a bit of a technophobe. Watched 4 episodes of Midwives back to back yesterday, and consequently am now feeling really wobbly about the whole having-another-baby thing. Bit late now I guess. It is gonna happen!

DD2 seems to be growing up by the day. Her speech is coming on in leaps and bounds, and she is becoming gentle ( never thought that would happen ). This morning she climbed into bed with me and snuggled into my back, and fell asleep. When DD1 came in, as usual saying 'is it breakfast time yet', DD2 sits up and says 'soon!' as this is what I always say Grin

Brockle · 07/09/2012 10:02

detective that is bollocks they have to give you time off for AN appointments. It is the law.

missmummy my BIL and SIL were the worst after I had DS1. I found it particularly grating from SIL who I usually get on with as she hadn't had children. When she was pregnant I made sure I gave her lots of advice Grin BIL was odd as he was giving me advice on feeding when I was breastfeeding and his wife was formula feeding. Weird. His wife was lovely though. Ignore them all.

Left work at 11.30am yesterday morning as my right hip was really painful. I had been bad the day before but thought I could manage but I was in agony by yesterday morning. Had a bit of a meltdown and got upset in the middle of an open plan office. Boss was lovely but I am dreading showing my face again next week. Lying on my left side MNing and hoping the physio calls soon..

Saw my little boy to school for his first day and I didn't cry and neither did he Grin

Evilwater · 07/09/2012 10:03

detective I understand completely, how you are feeling.

Yes they can't refuse, but mangers can make life very difficult. Believe me, Espally when it comes to money and time matters. My policy states I have to prove that I can't have it any other day or time.

Those three hours, can you use them to cover your appointment? That way you won't have to come in late? I know it's extremely difficult to find time to stop, in a shift. And I know about colleges, not being able to help/ to busy. So much for minimum amount of stress.

In fact I should have had a risk meeting at 30 weeks, and 32 weeks. At the moment my manger is concerned about audits.

NervousAt20 · 07/09/2012 10:18

I LOVE the dream genii pillow!! DP got me it for my birthday and I've slept so well since I've had it!! I didn't want to spend all that money on a pillow and not like it but it is heaven Grin

A friend of DPs, partner was due a week or so before me have birth this week, both doing okay I think so fingers crossed to them! It's made DP realise that everything is getting closer and making him abit nervous now, bless

Izzybuzzybuzzybees · 07/09/2012 10:23

Hello. I had carpet Fitters out yesterday fitting the carpet in DDs room. She will be 3 in Nov and is still in a cot! I made her single bed up and room looks lovely now it's all painted with a carpet and blind. Her furniture should be her by a week on Monday but I think we will put her in tonight. Seems a bit cruel when there is literally only a bed in it but she was so excited to see it last night. DH Iis also off next week so means he can help if she gets up and escapes in the middle of the night! Will move the gate from bottom to top of stairs just in case! Once her stuff is moved into new room I can sort all the baby stuff out.

Had physio on wed and there's not much else she can do to help me. I'm on 60mg codeine every 4 hrs and on crutches with support belts etc. she told me to rest as much as possible but that's difficult with my DD about. Had to take advantage of shopmobility the other day and usenet a wheelchair to go round a few shops with my sister :-(

Brockle · 07/09/2012 10:30

That is awful izzy. Certainly puts things in perspective. November seems ages away doesn't it!

Iheartpasties · 07/09/2012 11:15

aw izzy that sounds tough. It will all be worth it in the end :)

Arf! at titslana stuck in the fart train compartment, yucksville.

mcsquared · 07/09/2012 13:27

Gosh izzy, that sounds tough. I hope your DH is giving you lots of tlc.

Titsalina, hope all goes well with your son's op.

I'm hiding in my bedroom today. MIL has a day off and sadly I don't work Fridays! I was trying to be nice and involve MIL a bit more when i was looking at cots online earlier. Was nice at first but inevitably then came all the sleep advice and I came upstairs after that to shop in peace! Bit annoyed because I'd planned to wash all the baby clothes etc today so it'll be a wasted day, but I hate doing laundry under watchful eye of MIL. There is nothing more frustrating than being told how to do something that you've managed to without any problems for the past 15 years! Gosh, this is turning into a MIL blog!

I might start knitting a baby blanket. Not felt up to it and just been staring at the wool up until now, but might be quite therapeutic!

NervousAt20 · 07/09/2012 13:39

Knitting might be a good idea mcswaured keeps you busy and and excuse not to have some peace and not talk to MIL Smile

mcsquared · 07/09/2012 13:52

I feel like a right bitch just avoiding her, but I need to focus on me and baby and I can't risk feeling the way I felt earlier this week.

Afternoon of tea and knitting it is!

YellowWellies · 07/09/2012 14:56

That sounds like an fab afternoon mcsquared - don't feel guilty. Also it might train her into finding something else to do - other than spend her time lecturing you. She's going to need a hobby when the baby arrives if you are to avoid being her 'project'. Good luck and enjoy the tea and knitting.
