Thanks gizzy that really helps to hear of your positive experience. Enjoy your bath!

Bear1984 · 27/09/2012 09:25

tea my sister had to be induced. She had niece later on that day. She wished she had been induced earlier.

I'm back to how I was Monday morning. Lots of cramping, slowly getting more painful. I was trickling a little bit when I went to the loo this morning after I thought I had finished, and my pad is a bit damp an hour on so I don't know if my waters have gone or not. I'm not getting too hopeful at moment as this will be the third time I've started contracting in the last month and I'll most likely end up going nowhere. But gonna go sit on my birthing ball and say a little prayer lol.

Thumbwitch · 27/09/2012 10:16

Maketea - I was induced with DS - went in at 40+14 because it was a Sunday and I needed a consultant to discharge me - didn't want to be in all weekend! Had 3 pessaries, a couple of sweeps, very slow start (cervix so wasn't ready!) but things started happening in the afternoon on the Monday and I went up to LW about 9pm. Still only 1cm dilated but contractions every 3mins, so I was put on the observation ward rather than a delivery suite, and DH and I were left to ourselves. Waters went down the loo around 10pm. By 11:30, still only 1cm - they said another 4h and I'd be put on the drip if nothing was improving. 1:30am, stage 2 started - had about 10 massive "I want to die now" contractions and then DS crowned, DH ran to fetch a MW, and DS was born next push. Placenta delivered 3-5mins later (did have the jab though).
At that point, all the pain and everything else stopped. Bliss!

WeeSooty · 27/09/2012 10:51

I'm currently in being monitored. Baby seems totally fine, wiggling about happily. Doc says the rash is PUPPS, nothing they can do about it but it will go when the baby arrives! Pleaded for induction but he just thinks I'm crazy! He is going to give me some cream and piriton to use if necessary. He has been called to an emergency so now I have to wait on him coming back! And I'm bloody starving!! Blush

HeyMicky · 27/09/2012 11:07

Health visitor was due at half 10. PILs due at half 11. Have attached breast pump as that means they'll all tun up together now, right?

I won't ask how everyone is doing as it sounds mostly slow and uncomfortable :(

Gizzy, your birth sound fab. Well done!

RnB · 27/09/2012 12:53

MakeTea I was induced at Brighton last time at 40+15, dd arrived at 40+16. I was so anxious about it but it was actually fine. Apparently my cervix didn't seem ready at all (Bishop's score of 1/10), I was convinced it was going to be awful and end in EMCS.

The worst bit imo is the pessary, I felt like I'd been kicked in the Fanjo. Thats left in for 24 hrs (i had to stay in hospital but they let you home now). That didn't start things off, but they managed to break my waters. That didn't start things off either so I progressed onto the drip. That DID work and dd was born 3 hrs later, no pain relief other than G&A. Much quicker than my other 2 but definitely more painful. But tbh I think I'd rather have it that way round than long and less painful.

Thumbwitch · 27/09/2012 14:28

That's interesting what you say about the pessary, RnB - I didn't get that feeling at all, didn't even notice it, except for the minor effect it had. I also had a Bishop's score of 1 on the Monday morning, I think after the 3rd pessary it had progressed to a 3 or something - still "not favourable" Grin but Hmm.

I appeared to go from 1cm to 10cm dilation in about 2 hours in the end. Without the drip.

FluffyJawsOfDoom · 27/09/2012 18:45

It's such a relief to hear these positive induction stories - all I'm hearing from other people is doom and gloom!!

MissPollysTrolleyed · 27/09/2012 18:48

Baby girl named Lucy born yesterday at 6PM. Another great drug free birth here.and baby is feeding brilliantly well and is settling into her new home fabulously....early days yet obviously but a much easier start than with DS.

Good luck to all whose babes are imminent. x

CaptainHetty · 27/09/2012 18:52

Congratulations MissPolly :o

CaptainHetty · 27/09/2012 18:54

We're going to need another new thread before all these babies have arrived!

ShellWeDance · 27/09/2012 18:57

Crikey, that's amazing MissPolly. Huge congrats and so pleased the birth went well xxx

FluffyJawsOfDoom · 27/09/2012 18:58

Congratulations Polly! Gosh we're really getting going, aren't we?

I'm 38+4 today. After months of a lovely head down LOA position, baby is suddenly flipping between LOA and OP and back again about once a day - which is most uncomfortable Confused

This week my hands have also puffed up and I've gained about 1/2 a stone which has to be fluid surely I haven't been eating that much crap, honest guv which has been giving me carpal tunnel pins and needles at night, sigh

Bear1984 · 27/09/2012 19:16

Congratulations Polly!

GizzyBoo · 27/09/2012 19:46

Yay polly huge congrats xxx

fluffy you have my sympathy. My wee button is flipping between ROA and OP. It flaming hurts eh?

Today, every time I have moved I have had a braxton hicks. Its doing my head in. I am now sore and tired. I have also fell out with the oldest teenager so I am grumpy BlushSad

Teenagers are seriously bad for your health Hmm

Maybe the next thread should be called "once we pop we just can't stop" Grin

Bear1984 · 27/09/2012 19:56

Lol gizzy. Sorry to hear you haven't had a good day. I wish my body would decide what it's doing. When we were dropping DD off at school, I started getting bad cramps which then disappeared an hour or so later. I had to miss a coffee morning at the school where we were suppose to meet the teacher and find out more about the year which was annoying! I'm still having the show as well since Monday. Wish that would stop.

elvislives2012 · 27/09/2012 19:56

Congrats misspolly and another one drops, before October too!! How exciting. Like the new name for the next thread gizzy

Oh Gizzy I'm equal parts pleased it's not just me and sorry you're having to put up with it too!! The only silver lining is that if they're flipping between the two so easily they will hopefully flip the right way around in time for labour?!

Thunder I think it should. I have a handout from the MW which says to wiggle your hips lots from front to back and side to side to help them engage lol

Congrats MissPolly

Fluffy I reckon you could be right about the weight gain being fluid, i've put on 5lb and i'm sure not all is fat/baby TMI i've noticed i'm not going to toilet as much as I would expect given fluid intake.

Hope baby's start going in right direction for you Fluffy & Gizzy

39wks tomorrow really wish baby would start process of arriving, the not knowing when, I find difficult and more annoying than the feeling heavy cumbersome etc,,

goodsenseofdirection · 27/09/2012 22:45

I can't keep up with these babies!
Congrats misspolly

Have finally finished work Grin Even though I felt ready to finish I found the entire day hugely emotional but managed to hold it together, more or less. And then had a massive cry when I got home Blush to let it all out. Blimmin hormones.

Proper catch up on everyone's news planned for tomorrow.

Winnie81 · 27/09/2012 23:14

Hello everyone! More babies yay!! Congrats to all (can't name as on phone) with babies and a big birth vibes to all wishing imminent labour!!

I thought I would share our labour on here as I already did on fb but not all of you are on there!!

Had mild period cramps on Monday afternoon, nothing regular or that painful. Had a lovely bath as cramps had become a little more uncomfy. I did use clary sage oil in bath but not sure if it had any effect?
Out the bath and things get more painful and regular but still very bearable and I was still thinking is this it??
At about 9.15pm we phoned birth centre and they said make our way in. We arrive in the room and contractions are strong enough not to talk during them and they are intense but only lasting 30-40 seconds. Midwife examined me and said baby's head is low but your cervix is so far back I can't feel it, at this point I thought blimey if I've not really started how will I cope with pain for hours! She said options were to go to labour ward if not coping with pain or go home have bath blah blah and come back when I'm not coping or contractions are lasting for a minute. We made our way home and I ealked in the door and was now really uncomfy, made way into lounge and knelt over ball. A short while later I suddenly felt the urge Grin! Dh said no your NOT pushing don't push Blush
He then phoned ward and they said she's pushing, in the meantime I went to loo and pretty much started mooing with each push! Mil was there too and she was feeling like a spare part while dh was talking to midwife. I said call an ambulance as there was NO WAY they would be moving me!! Ambulance arrived at with trolley to find me in the most dignified place..... on the loo, pjs round ankles mooing! They put me on stretcher and took me to hospital. We left home at 11.50pm. I was pushing with every contraction all the way but thank goodness the g&a was there!!
Rolled up to birth centre 00.05 and crawled onto bed, midwife said wow your baby has a lot of hair! Then Rosie was born at 00.15! Paramedics had popped out to do paperwork and when they came back in I'd had her!! They were a bit surprised I think! So was I! Grin

All was great, no tear and used a bit of g&a!
Went home later tues pm and have been settling well at home! Feel like I've had breast implants today as milk has come in Confused like pinpan I was looking forward to sleeping on my front!!!

Anyway will keep checking for more babies!! Good luck Wink
