I'll post my list on the FB page too - it's not a list of what we're actually going to get, more something to talk through with real life Mums to discount stuff that we don't need and make sure we've got the right quantities for stuff we do need, and also to tick off stuff as we get it. I made it by pulling together other lists from MN. My sister saw it and laughed at lip balm for labour... in her words 'once you've had your organs pulled aside and a great big hole made in your abdomen to haul a ten pound baby out - dry lips really pale into insignificance' Grin I think I might be following such slummy Mummy standards! But still some ladies might appreciate nice touches in their hospital bags... I've also added a load of items at the bottom for DH to buy for when we get out of hospital Wine Flowers etc

YellowWellies · 06/08/2012 18:57

damnit Thanks not Flowers am a fecktard...

MissMummy1 · 06/08/2012 18:58

Putting a spoonful of sugar in fat coke should flatten it. Sorry you're feeling so crap DH21

I have just driven through the worst thunder and lightening storm. I'm such a woose I was genuinely freaking out - normally love watching lightening and I know the car is the safest place to be but pretty scary. Flash flooding and rain so heavy I had to keep pulling off the road as I couldn't see. A 5 mile journey took 45 mins :-( Thank god my mum has the dog as he hates thunder! Away for a cup of (decaff) tea to calm my nerves!!!

YellowWellies · 06/08/2012 18:59

Get well soon DH1 - any worries head straight to your midwife - tummy upsets when preggers are not to be trifled with. The biggest thing is to avoid dehydration.

YellowWellies · 06/08/2012 19:03

Jeez - take care hon! Sounds scary biscuits. Are you home safe? xx

capedcrusader25 · 06/08/2012 19:12

Sounds scary Shock Hope you're home safe and well! I'd definitely have lip balm, I get really dry lips which become painful - things are going to be horrendous enough without dry/sore lips to contend with!

DesperateHousewife21 · 06/08/2012 19:14

missmummy glad you're home safe :)

I think what I need is a long decent nights sleep, hoping to feel better tomo so I can take ds out. We're not indoor people!

MissMummy1 · 06/08/2012 20:47

Yes yes we're both home safe and sound now! I drove in some pretty scary conditions up north (think blizzard and lightening!) but this was something else. I think being pregnant has made me a bit of a wuss :-( YW is there any chance you could post the epic list on fb as a pdf? My phone doesn't recognise file type and we have no internet yet. No worries if not xx

YellowWellies · 06/08/2012 21:03

I can't tonight as don't have pdf software on this lappy but will convert it to a pdf tomorrow at work and post it up no probs. xx

MissMummy1 · 06/08/2012 21:11

Brilliant thanks so much! There's no hurry. My gran got me in a huge panic we didn't have any baby vests earlier - grr - so trying to rationalise with baby brain and work out what we really still need as opposed to what I just think we need! I've become really paranoid we're going to forget something really important :/

YellowWellies · 06/08/2012 21:23

I think Maria has lots of stuff for you too - so don't worry about baby vests etc there are bags full!

WaitingForMe · 06/08/2012 21:26

We didn't know what we were having when we got the Sola in plum and it turns out we're having a boy but I don't care. I wanted a purple pram Grin

I think prams are for the mums. Baby won't know or care. Soon enough we'll have plastic tat despite wanting nice wooden toys etc etc and the babies will have their own opinions. I've created my dream nursery as I know that lovely light room will be begged to be painted black and be a source of awful music before I know it! (Clearly I have high expectations of teenager bump)

WaitingForMe · 06/08/2012 21:27

That was aimed at YellowWellies but I forgot to mention her Blush

ValiumQueen · 06/08/2012 21:32

waiting that is happening to my 6yo!

YellowWellies · 06/08/2012 21:38

Haha Waiting - I love it! Quite right too.... it was more than my DH put his foot down on the purple pushchair for a boy (boo hiss!) - but then this is the man who really wanted us to get the one made by Norton motorbikes - which looked like a metalheads push chair Grin

Passmethecrisps · 06/08/2012 21:45

Horrible for you DH21. I hope a good night's sleep will sort you out.

missmummy I love a wee storm but not to drive in! Glad oh are back in one peice.

Re slings we were given one - an Ellaroo which wraps around you. I will wait and see if it is necessary and then see how we both get on with it. It is in lovely colours though - I would like to wear it as a scarf actually.

We were also given this swing
When we tried it though it seemed really jerky - not smooth like we were expecting. I wonder if it was because it has no weight in it. Maybe a baby in it helps the moment.

Passmethecrisps · 06/08/2012 21:48

Oh, and I meant to ask about th facebook group. What is it called again? I found one called November 2012 babies but I didn't think that was it.

Nervous if it is just for this why don't you set up a Facebook account using nervous as your name?

izzybizzybuzzybees · 06/08/2012 22:38

We bought a swing in the asda baby event. It was £30 and looks fab. It retails a lot higher and has different speed, vibration and music. Def worth a look, I guess there will be a baby event soon!

DesperateHousewife21 · 07/08/2012 06:44

passme it's called Nov 12 Babies it's got a pic at the top of a preg lady with a flower on her bump.

Dh and I were asleep by half 8 last night! Still woke at 2 to go to the loo and ds was up at 6:15 but feeling a bit better today.

ValiumQueen · 07/08/2012 07:27

Norton pushchair looks cool, but pricy.

Swings are jerky without an occupant. DD2 had a fisher price one and hated it. She also hated her Jumperoo. It was probably because she loved her Baby Bjorn bouncer.

blonderthanred · 07/08/2012 08:01

What a div!

I've just woken up an realised it is my GTT blood test at 9.15 this morning. I am meant to fast for 12 hours prior to the test and I distinctly remember eating a Cadbury's Chocolate Gold Medal at maybe 10.30 Blush, plus I had my pregnacare tablets at about 11pm.

Anyone know if I should worry or if this won't matter?

Can't believe I forgot.

ValiumQueen · 07/08/2012 08:23

I was told to fast from midnight, and had my test around the same time as you. I guess you cannot call them? Bit early. I would go, just tell them what happened. They may test you a bit later this morning, but I would think it would be fine. Hope you have the lucozade not the yucky warm sugar sludge. It takes a while to do bloods and paperwork anyway.

Passmethecrisps · 07/08/2012 08:38

Thank you DH. Made a join request.

Good luck with the blood test blonder

DesperateHousewife21 · 07/08/2012 08:47

25 weeks today :)

Good luck with the test blonder

blonderthanred · 07/08/2012 08:49

Thanks VQ. Hopefully it will be ok, I just panicked when I woke up and realised what the date was! 27 weeks has suddenly come round so fast.

The instructions say I will be given a 'sugar solution' so it probably is the sludge of which you speak. Ick.
