ValiumQueen · 06/08/2012 14:45

That is a very attractive pram waiting and I like the plum.

Chunkychicken · 06/08/2012 15:02

My buggy board & buggy buddy strolled organiser thing has arrived. Except DH has the buggy in the car boot, with him & won't be back til much later. Hmmmphh.Hmm

The buggy board feels so light!! And looks titchy. Which are both very good things clearly...

Have a massive stack of washing up and laundry to hang out but a serious lack of enthusiasm to do it. :(

Chunkychicken · 06/08/2012 15:05

And just worked out it will be my last day at work for quite a while come 10wks time on Friday... I'll be 35+4.Grin

Chunkychicken · 06/08/2012 15:09

I've literally put the washing basket on the grass ready to hang it out accompanied by the sound of thunder!! It's not even raining Confused

rowingdowntheriver · 06/08/2012 15:16

It was the sola that I had for DS1 waiting. I really liked it. Am giving it to my sister now as she is due 2 weeks before me and have replaced it with a double.

Lilliana · 06/08/2012 15:23

Been off for the weekend and see you have all been busy chatting!

We have a cleaner atm but won't be able to afford her once I am on mat leave, will be gutted to see her go.

On the upside some nesting instinct seems to be kicking in as I have started cleaning and organising - Yay!

Does anyone have any experience of slings/carriers? Like the idea of the fabric ones but needs to work for Dh and me. My friend has a close one which looks fab but only works on the front. Looked at the kari me which does back and front but doesn't seem so easy to adjust. I then got confused and gave up!

WaitingForMe · 06/08/2012 15:27

I need to get DH sling shopping Lilliana but am bewildered by the whole thing. A friend made her own and they were great. She considered making and selling them but decided not to. I've been trying to get her to make me one but she's busy and says she'll just send the pattern.

Me? Sew something I'll be carrying my PFB in? Yeah right!

GTbaby · 06/08/2012 15:53

I am also trying to decide on sling. Really like the babasling or ring sling style rather then babybjorn stiff carrier style.

TheDetective · 06/08/2012 16:04

I love the idea of a sling, however I'm going to wait til the baby is here, to see if it is something we would need! I'd probably only use it if I had an unsettled baby like DS was. Probably will be, knowing my luck! It would just be for using in the home after a particularly traumatic (for me!!) time with DS in a carrier... Only could of happened to me Hmm

Anyone else bought a swing for the baby? I keep looking for one, I was going to get one off eBay, but haven't found one I like yet. I want a really cosy comfortable one, with head support. The one's I've seen in shops just don't seem to be very comfortable! Any recommendations? I had a Graco one with DS, but didn't use it from newborn. His wasn't that comfy, but was bloody expensive!!

Mum has just sprung on me that DS has a school trip away next June, and its £180! ARGHHHHH! I'll be on mat pay still then, and I don't know if we can afford to pay it before then either! Apparently it has to be paid by March. I've just had to agree to no birthday/christmas presents (for me!) for this year, or birthday presents for DS, so she will pay for it and I don't have to worry! I don't want him to miss out, he would be devastated if he couldn't go. I remember how enjoyable these things were when I was younger, and have fond memories of weekends away with school/guides etc! Wish I was made of money! There just doesn't seem enough to spread around these days!

Just booked my 28 week appointment for friday. Not sure where the time is going to now!

daisychain76 · 06/08/2012 16:18

Just bought a sling! The Wilkinet baby carrier. It was only 30 pounds off Amazon (but got the raincover too as want to use it for school runs). Really would have liked to try it first, but nowhere near me stocks it. The main criticism in reviews seems to be its a bit fiddly to wear, but watching the video it seemed easier to me than the other one I was considering (the Caboo). My friend is giving me a moby wrap too, so I can try that out. Despite this being my 3rd I've never used slings/carriers before, having a completely irrational fear of the baby falling out. That's why I didn't go for one like the babasling - I know I wouldn't dare let go of the baby in it!

MissMummy1 · 06/08/2012 16:19

Just had a bit of a giggle to myself at the complete naivety of my DH! He's at sea just now but phoned for a chat. I told him I'd managed to book my 24 week midwife appointment for tomorrow and he got himself in such a panic that there was something wrong! Silly man thought our 20 week scan would be the last time we saw mws till labour....Hmm

GTbaby · 06/08/2012 16:21

anyone looking into slings i just came across this website www.bigmamaslings.co.uk/

gives explanation of each style and Pro and Cons.

not sure if i should buy before or wait for baby to get here. wont be buying anything till last minute anyway, so lots of time Wink to research...

OMG 12 weeks left! Grin

horseylady · 06/08/2012 16:21

Baby swing?! What's one of those?! I really need a list of things I need. No idea on slings either :/ I feel soooo clueless it's unreal!!

The lists in the books are tiny (and the clothing requirements IMO unrealistic what happens with puke?!!) then bras etc omg my brain hurts!!

StuntNun · 06/08/2012 16:31

Detective I got this one www.mothercare.com/Fisher-Price-Smart-Stages-3-in-1-Rocker-Swing/246745,default,pd.html reduced to £85 which seems a bit pricey but it's all singing all dancing. Only problem is it's currently stored in the car boot because I haven't got anywhere to put it!

GTbaby · 06/08/2012 16:40

Oh dear I haven't added bras to my list! I got a rough costing of £2k already. Rounding prices up tho. Will try put it on FB page if I can work out how.

GTbaby · 06/08/2012 16:45

adding spreadsheet wasn't difficult at all. let me know what ive missed off.

Chunkychicken · 06/08/2012 16:50

I had a babasling with DD BUT by the time I ordered it, we had a heatwave & she was less 'clingy' (if that word applies to babies) so didn't really use it. Will try it out with this one and maybe also consider a more structured carrier for DH & I to use if out and about, so we can just use the single buggy.

It's something you don't know if you need it until the baby is here - some babies want to be held constantly & nothing will soothe them, so its impossible to wash up etc.

May look at the website too...

Have found yet another option on the double/tandem front through the pushchair forum & Best Buggy.co.uk Confused

NervousAt20 · 06/08/2012 16:51

I really need to make a Facebook account and join our group! You will be my only friends as id rather not have anyone on it in RL. Is there anyway I could make one but make my name unsearchable? I'm sure it would cause me a few problems if people could see I have an account but don't accept anyone?

YellowWellies · 06/08/2012 16:55

I went for the Sola too (in the stripey denim as we don't know if we're having a boy or girl and thought the plum, which I loved, best for a girl really - I also really loved the groovy 70s style patterns but they were out of stock and we had to pick up when we were south as most companies won't deliver up here). We managed to get the pushchair, carseat, carry cot and car seat adaptors for £414 in Fife pram centre / Babyworld in Kirkcaldy - was very impressed. Just need to get the cosy toes for cheaps on Ebay as I wasn't paying £66 for it! I worried about how it would handle off road but according to Which it handles it better than many of the proper 'all terrain models' - and scores just as well for offroad as the Mountain buggy and Mothercare extreme (which I'm sure can't be right, but it did feel really hardy to be fair). Mindst we do have a back up foldy microlite buggy from SIL to fall back on.... so we shall see. I loved the Mothercare extreme but couldn't manage to get it to fold one handed (am physiologically dyslexic am sure) and found it a real pig to lift (at 14 kg!) so decided against it.

TheDetective · 06/08/2012 16:55

I like the look of thatStunt, when you get it out can you let me know how padded it is?! Problem with a lot of this stuff is it isn't displayed in shops, and don't want to make a mistake!

kissyfur · 06/08/2012 16:57

We bought a close parent sling to use with DD but I couldn't get on with it at all, it really squashed my boobs and as I was breast feeding that wasn't a good thing. Only tried it on a couple of times then gave up! Would like to try a baby Bjorne one this time around

TheDetective · 06/08/2012 17:37

I can't wait for DP to get home, so we he can build the wardrobe, and re-build the cot! Then I can put all the baby things away! And my nursery will almost be complete!

It's come a long way from being my ironing room Grin

ValiumQueen · 06/08/2012 17:43

I had two summer babies so could not get on with slings. I have one of the moby wrap type things. Might give it a whirl this time, but I cannot think of a circumstance when I would need to use it, and with my history of falling, I would not want to squidge him. Also they are not particularly flattering. Yes my bum did look big in it.

Well DD2 is in her new nappy from Tesco. I spent my points on washables. It is a tots bots easyfit and is very slim fitting, so I will see how she goes.

Lilliana · 06/08/2012 18:30

Thanks for the info and links. Maybe I will wait and see what baby is like. As we live on a farm the roads are often covered in muck from cows coming in and out so thought it might save me cleaning the pram everytime we popped out for a walk as well as being able to get on with some jobs around the house if baby won't settle on their own. If I wait though I'll have a good excuse for not doing any housework until it arrives Grin

Am also abit worried about how safe baby will be with me carrying it around in a piece of fabric as I'm clumsy at the bast of times!!

My aunt said she has a swing thing we can borrow, apparently it's motorised and her daughter loved it; haven't seen it yet though.

DesperateHousewife21 · 06/08/2012 18:38

I wish I had 7up/ lemonade but I don't :( only fat coke but in cans so v fizzy and prob a really bad idea.
I'm drinking water and had plain pasta for dinner. Dh and I are going to bed when ds does at about 8! We're both shattered, doesn't help that ds got up at half 5 this morning grr!
