Morning!!!

Thought I'd start the new thread with Gwen's title now in case I fill the other one with my moaning.

I'll do the stats at a more normal time of day unless anyone else does it first.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Coops79 · 04/07/2012 23:11

Hi all. Thank you for the good wishes. Have had a sweep and gel. DH has gone home as he'd be less than useless without proper sleep. What I thought were BHs or trapped wind are apparently cxs that I've been having for sometime! Am hoping against hope that one lot of gel will do it and I'll still be able to get into the water. Sleep well all; I'm off to read over my birth plan for a giggle! Xx

gwenniebee · 05/07/2012 09:40

coops have been thinking of you and hoping all is going well....! Maybe the cooplet has even arrived by now..?

Another pregnant day here, woohoo. Am going to do the hoovering (this is not nesting, this is just that it's a week since I last did it...) and meet my friends with their flipping babies for coffee. Everytime I see them we part saying that next time I'll have a baby too. Ha ha.

millie I resisted cake! I did have one of those probably horrendously calorific cooler things in Costa though.... The wool shop had closed early though (like, 12.15 early.... which is even earlier than their stated early closing!) so I couldn't buy project materials. Fortunately I had other jobs to do in town too so didn't feel too hard done by.

I'm afraid I'm horribly ignorant about what a cord prolapse even is... but I guess any kind of prolapse is not a positive thing! How exciting for you to know that you'll meet minimillie soon though :)

My brother called last night to see if there was any news, bless him. It was a terrible phone line but good to talk to him. He was off on an eighteen hour offensive this morning and said he hoped there would be good news for him when he returned. I just hope he doesn't get blown to smithereens :( Can't wait for him to be home for good in November.

Happy Thursday, everyone!

Coops79 · 05/07/2012 10:44

Hey all. Just a brief update cos am on my phone. Second gel done, cervix opening. They'll probably break waters this aft unless i can make it happen myself. Lots of contractions. Hopefully today is the day.

Gwennie, hope you're ok and not going too stir crazy. I really didn't want intervention either but it's not as bad as I envisaged. If you do decide to go for a sweep it's not as bad as I thought.

Have a good day everyone. X

Kveta · 05/07/2012 11:58

good luck coops 5/7/12 sounds like a good birthdate to me! glad it isn't as bad as you expected too :)

gwen when would you be induced if baby hasn't arrived by then? do your PCT do +12 or +14 for 1st time mums? either way, hope it isn't much longer for you.

TeaandHobnobs · 05/07/2012 12:42

Coops sounds like you are doing great, really positive attitude Smile - hope you reach the finish line soon!

gwennie I hope the end is in sight for you too, and tortoise and others.

exBrightonBell · 05/07/2012 12:59

Well, after seeing the consultant today I am going in to hospital this afternoon to be induced. It's not what I wanted at all, but it makes logical sense Sad. I just hope that there won't be the cascade of interventions that I fear, and that the hospital experience itself isn't as horrible as I imagine it could be.

gwenniebee · 05/07/2012 15:35

exBB hope it goes well for you. And that it is over and done with quickly and you meet your little bell!

kveta everyone so far has told me they do +10 so that is what I've been aiming at! Confused the idea of even just +12 is too painful to contemplate!! Might just have to cry at them until they do something if that is the case, I really can't take many more days of painful contractions getting nowhere, it's just upsetting me now.

coops still thinking of you!

Coops79 · 05/07/2012 15:36

Hey Brightonbell. In precisely same position but it looks promising. The induction has definitely got things going and I'm hopeful that this is all all the intervention needed. Have marched round the hospital repeatedly which definitely helps. Good luck!

I'm off for a walk and then with a bit luck I'll be in full on established labour! Never before have I looked forward so eagerly to pain! X

CathFin · 05/07/2012 20:16

Thinking of you Coops and exbb, try bouncing on an exercise ball, def helped me!

ffnorm · 06/07/2012 08:00

I'm taking Coops silence to be a good sign... And Gwennie too, has gone quiet...hmm

gwenniebee · 06/07/2012 09:42

I'm only quiet because I'd be talking to myself Wink!!

Hoping for good news from coops and exbb soon :)

Contractions here during the night and lasting into this morning (which is unusual, normally they pack up and go for a few hours around 2am...) but certainly nothing convincing and nothing to cause me to cancel the mw at 12.30. Poo. Your pre-prodding time is coming to an end, BabyBee. You have been warned.

Friends due at the end of the month/beginning of next month produced a healthy baby girl yesterday. How rude is that? Queue hoppers. Angry

(Obviously I'm delighted for them and very happy that she's healthy and well, but I will admit to having a cry of frustration when I heard!)

mammadothebump · 06/07/2012 10:02

Gwennie with dd1 I was having mild cx in my back when I went for my sweep. Mw said I was 1.5 cm and it should take a couple of days. Labour started half an hour later, dd1 born 9 hours later. Dd2, no cx when I had the sweep, labour started 3 hours later, dd2 born following morning.

Good luck, have faith, be thinking of you!

gwenniebee · 06/07/2012 12:09

Thank you mammado :) I have seen quite a lot of "it did nothing for me" post-sweep stories so to hear that makes me feel very :)

I am quite uncomfortable today..... it doesn't usually get this bad until I've been on my feet and doing things for a bit but today has been there since I woke up..... really really hoping the food I've just been out to buy for the weekend turns out to be totally inappropriate!

Kveta · 06/07/2012 12:14

gwennie I spent much of september 2009 crying because everyone who was due after me (due date 20th sept) had their babies before me. DS eventually arrived on the 26th, and I was seriously dehydrated by then (really, but that was much more down to long labour and not enough to drink than just crying :o)

hope your wee one appears soon!

ffnorm · 06/07/2012 12:17

sorry Gwennie Blush

You are so allowed a good cry when other queue jump!!

CathFin · 06/07/2012 12:27

Gwennie, I started having contractions pretty much straight away after my sweep with DD (except as she was my first I wan't sure they were the real thing), and I went into labour properly the next morning and had her that evening. I was 10 days over.
Fingers crossed that all the babies will be here soon. I'd be well upset by the queue jumpers too despite it being lovely news!

exBrightonBell · 06/07/2012 14:41

Not much happening with me at the mo, unfortunately. The propess doesn't seem to be doing much for me at the moment, certainly no contractions! I also can't believe that I am sitting here wishing for pain!! But I am Smile. So, I just have to hang around the hospital for a good long while whilst they try again - fingers crossed. Good luck to everyone else who is in a similar boat to me Smile

gwenniebee · 06/07/2012 14:48

Well, I have been duly swept. Eugh. Wondering if the cx are a little more purposeful now..... although they do seem to have been doing something and she said it had been the latent phase of labour rather than just stupid and pointless BHs so that made me feel good even if she was just saying it!!

MW said it was "a good one" whatever that means - she'd been able to get right round and everything was in a good position to go. Induction on Wednesday if nothing by then.....

gwenniebee · 06/07/2012 14:48

x-post exBB hope yours get going soon! Good luck! :)

mammadothebump · 06/07/2012 14:59

Eek gwennie, I feel certain it'll be today or tonight. Have you got a birthing ball? I found it really helped to keep the cx consistent, if I lay down they seemed to tail off. Make sure you keep your energy levels up. X

Miniangel · 06/07/2012 17:39

Hang in there gwennie. Have been thinking of you.

All the very best mammatothebump

gwenniebee · 06/07/2012 22:22

All seems to have died down again :( Going to try a late night walk up the street but am fed up :(

smallwonder · 06/07/2012 22:41

Gwennie Thinking of you :)
DS1 was supposed to be a November baby and arrived in December, there were only two of us left on the a/n thread, but that's no consolation is it? Hmm Just know that I'm thinking of you xx

ceeej · 06/07/2012 22:43

Thinking of you gwennie and exBB, hope things kick off properly soon x

gwenniebee · 07/07/2012 10:51

Thanks small and ceeej :)

Woken up about 3.45 by cx starting up again, got up and walked around for about half an hour both to ease the pain and also to try and keep them going... they carried on until about 5 when I fell asleep again and now have disappeared off the face of the earth! Am taking DH on a looooong walk this morning (basically said I am going to walk until I have a baby!). Welly boots on, I think....
