NinjaChipmunk · 07/06/2012 10:23

I believe I'm next in about 3 weeks time.....and just heading off to pack some more of my hospital bag before my mw appt this afternoon. Scary......

FluffyJawsOfDoom · 07/06/2012 11:12

scream how much was your icandy peach? I googled them yesterday but there is no price information available online at all, anywhere!

dream I saw that one in JL and it was lovely - I think I might have gone for it but it doesn't have a parent-facing ability, which is my one and only requirement, typically! :o Great price though - sadly I think the bugaboos and stokkies suggested by hawthers, ninja and biscuits are just out of my price range!

My midwife appointment yesterday was done by a temp (mw was off sick) and she didn't mention how to keep track of movement; is it 10 movements/kicks a day, or 10 sets iyswim? Because atm I might get, say, 10 kicks in the space of half an hour? Confused

NinjaChipmunk · 07/06/2012 12:42

You don't need to worry about movement/ counting kicks till 28 weeks I think. And by 28 weeks I found there was no mistaking it. Also remember the babies start to develop awake/ asleep periods too.

ScrambledSmegs · 07/06/2012 13:10

Gawd, is it only me who buys prams from eBay?! I'm very impressed at those buying new, sadly not a possibility for us as DH has caviar tastes, but we have an Asda budget Hmm

Imps you just need to get used to checking your posts, love! I often write ANC instead of and, like you, but I'm all about the proof-reading. Also stops the tmi/over-sharing stuff, which I have a tendency towards Grin.

Ninja 3 weeks till D-Day! Very excited fir you - hope you're getting some rest. I think all I did at that stage was sit on my ball, co yoga and watch Mad Men box sets. I heartily recommend that course of action Wink

New kitchen table! Whoop! For the first time in 6 years I can sit in my beautiful kitchen, have breakfast and listen to the radio Smile. Makes a change from the vile half-kitchen, half building site we've had for 18 months. It finally feels like a real home.

OP posts:
ScrambledSmegs · 07/06/2012 13:11

And after advising proof-reading, look what happens! Grin

Ooh - jealous Smegs - brand new kitchen, lucky you. Radio 6M by any chance, lady? Smile And we are also of the ebay genetic disposition - as we spent all our baby money on services like private midwives, which I suppose was fair enough. But a Britax off ebay was just about the worst decision we made. I hope to get a Bugaboo second hand this time. Even our Jane stroller, which I bought new (but super cheap in a sale), has got a broken brake cord. Boo. So a decent second-hand all rounder will have to do. Having said that, I used various slings a great deal more than anything else we bought...

3 weeks for Ninja - how lovely and exciting. Yes, get your box sets lined up. You will also need them for mammoth breast-feeding sessions post natally. Grin

To my shame I didn't ever really analyse movement with DS. He seemed to move non-stop so perhaps I didn't feel motivated! Blush I had no idea about the 10-a-day rule...

Apparently at 9-10wks the fetus is already kicking away. It's amazing really isn't it? (A bit teary today, just because I can be, probably.)

NinjaChipmunk · 07/06/2012 15:33

smegs our bugaboo came from ebay, twas the cheapest place. A lovely new kitchen, lucky you. We did ours about 2 years ago, its lovely to be able to sit in it and eat meals together. I would love to have a big kitchen/ diner/ playroom type thing when we move. And then try and keep the lounge a bit more adults only.
MW appt was all good, birth plan gone through, breastfeeding discussed. I should really go to the supermarket but don't want to. I am feeling sleepy, I may have a shower to wake myself up a bit. I must also finish making my sling. I haven't got much more to do to it so shouldn't take long. I might see if I can find a pattern for a mei tai also.
tock I don't think the whole count the kicks thing was even around when I had ds. I certainly don't remember it.

clickingtock · 07/06/2012 17:04

Perhaps that's it Ninja; though 2010 doesn't seem that long ago. Did you make it to the shops? I ambled around and felt rather exhausted at the thought of eating all that food piling up in our trolley. Smile Still, I don't seem to struggle when it comes to getting it on my plate or in the mush.

Put up a pick of your sling. Let me know if you find a mei tai pattern - sounds good. I wonder if I could crochet one? Grin

TheLittleFriend · 07/06/2012 18:40

Marking my place for miniNinja's arrival. (Don't panic Ninja, I know it's not for a while yet, it's just you're next!)

Blows kisses to all the psepp. And bwb (Brookers With Babies)

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 07/06/2012 22:47

Just popping back in to answer Fluffy's question even though I should be sleeping before DD wakes up! It's sooooooooooo annoying the way iCandy won't let anyone reveal prices online! You can download their official price list from the iCandy website though. Back in Jan the RRP for the iCandy chassis with pushchair unit was £595, plus an extra £195 for the carrycot unit. If you're intending to use a maxicosi carseat with the chassis you'll need to buy car seat adaptors at £30 as well. Generally very few places will offer a discount off RRP for iCandy, but Purple recommended a great shop to me which we were able to buy everything from at a 15% discount. Let me know if you need the contact details for the shop? I don't know if the deal is still on. I do know that the waitlist for the iCandy Peach in Tomato colour is now up to September...

Sending lots of No Brooking out to everyone. I hope you all start getting lots of reassuring movement, and can stop worrying about your pgs easier said than done!

ScrambledSmegs · 08/06/2012 08:54

Oh GOD I'm so tired. DD was up frequently last night, and up for good at the crack of dawn. It's the third day in a row. I've still got early pregnancy fatigue as well Sad. Had a mild breakdown at DH earlier Blush, he offered to take a couple of hours off but I pulled myself together. Don't want him forgoing his weekend because of me.

But when, WHEN will the fatigue stop? I swear I recovered earlier than this with DD. Although I seem to recall having the occasional after-work nap with DD which obviously doesn't happen now. Too much to do. Gah! To think I wanted 3! fat chance with my knackered fertility

Sorry for going AWOL, I can't remember when I last posted. I have been following but had no time to post.

Just a quick one to say Ninja Shock that seems to have come round so quickly! Very, very excited for you now.

Yay for all the lovely scans.

Will try and pop back later.

FluffyJawsOfDoom · 08/06/2012 09:08

Holy macaroni, September?!! I think that ones out of my budget too, sadly, as it seems the pushchair units are only suitable from 6 months so you pretty much have to buy the extras Wink it is a very attractive pram, though.

FluffyJawsOfDoom · 08/06/2012 09:09

:( smegs I hope you feel a bit better as the day goes on or if not, sleep lots tomorrow when DH is home

ScrambledSmegs · 08/06/2012 09:17

Fluff it's against my religion but have you considered joining Netmums? They have a very good local and 'pre-loved' Wink section. You could probably find the pram of your dreams on there, with all the extras. Of course it's still riskier than buying brand new, but I have a friend who bought an iCandy off there and you wouldn't have guessed it was 2nd hand. She could have fluked it tho!

Thanks. Having a cuppa and a sit down now. 6 music on (good guess tock!), Arcade Fire playing - I almost feel human. Off to the local farm in a minute, bit windy but I can't stay indoors when I feel so rough!

Hello brookers, just wishing you all a very happy and healthy week, I am going to see family for a week so will probs be without internet.
Have a good weekend all.

NinjaChipmunk · 08/06/2012 10:10

The other thing you could do fluff is find out when your next local nct sale is. You can get some mega bargains in really good nick at them. I believe if you actually become a member and offer to help you may even get first refusal on stuff....
smegs 6music is my choice of radio too. I love a bit of Huey Morgan when he's on. Hope you wake up a bit soon.

We're off out to a friends house in a bit shame the weather is so pants though.

FluffyJawsOfDoom · 08/06/2012 12:15

I know it's reeeeally pfb but I really want a new pram Blush
I buy 2nd hand clothes and stuff for myself without any qualms whatsoever, but I feel a bit oo-er about buying something someone else's kid has probably vommed on :o but mostly I think it really is just pfbism......... Blush

23 weeks tomorrow, feels like a bit of a milestone :)

FluffyJawsOfDoom · 08/06/2012 12:58

On an entirely separate note, my hairdresser (who I have never met before) asked me if my pregnancy was planned as she cut my hair. I was a bit Shock and just said yes. But I am still Shock and had to share!

ScrambledSmegs · 08/06/2012 13:48

Oh Fluff, you're still new to this. You can have so much fun with those sort of questions.

My personal favourite was when I was term with DD, and a waiter asked if I was pregnant. Now, bear in mind that I had a small build and a massive bump, so it hardly takes a genius to work out that I was pregnant, let alone in danger of imminent childbirth.

I replied "No Hmm. Why, do I look fat in this dress?"

Him "Confused No, no!!! You look lovely!".

He was ever so attentive after that Grin

DreamingOfPeace · 08/06/2012 14:40

Love it smegs!

fluffy my idiotic mil asked if my pregnancy with the twins was planned Shock Shock silly old bag If you get a carrycot with the bjcm its parent facing, and no use for more than short trips but if you put a car seat on its parent facing. I got it with vouchers at John Lewis for
£175. I got my bjcm double second hand for £150 :) only 6 months old too. they're not facing me though but are pretty much asleep a lot in it atm. I also slung DD. Til 9 months.

FluffyJawsOfDoom · 08/06/2012 15:41

lmao smegs! :o :o

That's such a bargain dream!

I've just measured the front door and it's 66cm wide Shock so I need a skinny pram it seems. The M&P one's 53cm wide iirc, I really hope it's nice to wheel around the shop at the weekend Blush DH thinks the normal 60 will be pushing it.

hawthers · 08/06/2012 15:47

smegs hee hee

i got asked whether it had taken long to get pregnant. by someone very loudly at work. in an open plan office that seats around 200 people. Blush i laughed it off but she kept asking really loudly whether it had taken long to get pregnant. a very very odd question i thought.

cartoonface · 08/06/2012 17:54

Well I was over excited and told everyone at work when I was previously 9wks preg. One guy turned around and asked me if it was a good thing, were we pleased! As if I would've announced it if I wasn't.

scarletfingernail · 08/06/2012 19:26

Grin Smegs

Fluffy when you're expecting DC2 prepare yourself for the neverending "I expect you're wanting a boy/girl this time?" The opposite sex to DC1. So rude. I wanted to respond "Why? Is my DS so awful?" But I didn't.
