Clicking she's just turned 3 and a half, and has some scary strong opinions on 'our' baby, who will be a girl.
She's going to make a great big sister though, although little state will possibly end up horrendously spoilt by her.

smegs I went mad on salad last week was living of pasta and tons of salad and now just don't fancy it, I was enjoying fruit but had a mental moment and decided pineapple was dangerous so I'm off that. Tacos have been my favourite meal so far.

StateofConfusion · 01/06/2012 10:09

Not half way yet I'm 11+1 :)

ScrambledSmegs · 01/06/2012 10:20

Grin Has she chosen the name already State? DD loves babies too, I expect she'll do her usual 'No, MY baby' routine when lil'smegs is here!

Is your DS excited too? He's older than your DD right? (Not a stalker, we know each other from Babs's thread!).

OP posts:
StateofConfusion · 01/06/2012 10:31

Ds is excited but generally calmer than dd, he's 5 in July. Dd likes her opinions to be heard and never stops talking, she's also home full time (whole other thread) with me whereas he's in ft school so I get to listen to her plans non stop.

Luckily dd doesn't really 'get' names and tells dp off and corrects him, "its mummy" and if you ask her what her name is she just blinks and looks blank.

She's also said, she is pushing the pram, feeding it and its sleeping in her room. I can't wait to explain breast feeding to her she will be soo annoyed she can't feed it bottles.

clickingtock · 01/06/2012 12:03

I'm glad you're having this conversation as I'm wondering when to tell DS that he can expect a sibling. He's only 2.3 but rather handily he has been spending time with a childminder who is now very visibly pg. So we've talked about babies in tummies. And he saw a baby fox in our garden and told me he wants a fox in his tummy! Grin

I thought we might take him to the 12wk scan and then he can be part of the news from then on in. Does that sound sensible? If the scan is bad news he won't understand it anyway... Of course, I'm brooking that it won't come to that.

I love the fact our DC have opinions although of course I know this can be a little tiring at times.

Not long to your scan then State?

Smegs - great antibios have cleared up all sorts. Must be such a relief. I am enjoying plenty of greens and the usual amount of fruit but more likely to hanker after quite chunky food just had a veggie samosa straight after acupuncture, ravenous again and strong flavours. Not so bothered about sweet stuff. I think I was more sweet-toothed with DS.

ScrambledSmegs · 01/06/2012 12:50

tock we're going to tell DD after the 20 week scan. I think I'm a bit neurotic about this pregnancy anyway - it feels like my 'last chance' - and I don't want a toddler running round asking when she can play with the baby till I'm ready!

I think it sounds lovely to take him to the scan, to really involve him. DD would be a nightmare sadly, one of the most active they've ever seen according to the nursery staff so i don't think expecting her to wait quietly while the sonographer mucks around doing all the checks is realistic! She's very good-natured but I know she has her limits.

StateofConfusion · 01/06/2012 14:50

tock I had a scan on wednesday and I have another in 2weeks.

I'm terrified something will go wrong but I'm fed up of being boring and grumpy in the dcs eyes for not playing rough, going on the trampoline etc so we told them, I am doubting my decission now though

cartoonface · 01/06/2012 15:37

how was your scan state ur 11weeks is that rite?

clickingtock · 01/06/2012 16:02

Yes - I ought to be neurotic too Smegs but am doing a v bad job of it. I guess I've always been a bit of a headlonger and not cautious enough. I'm the sort who used to leave my car unlocked because I think that locking it tempts people more than an unlocked one - used to find the odd pieces of evidence that people took refuge in there but never anything worse Grin.

I think I would like DS to be in on it all from 12wks so like State's DC he might be a bit more understanding about why I'm not so keen on being clambered on. Of course, I'm touching wood etc that we will get to 12wks and beyond.

Your DD sounds a character, Smegs. I think DS will be quite interested, purely because he is so nosey. My experience of scans has been fairly in and out, wham bam etc. He wouldn't last much longer than 10 mins I don't reckon.

StateofConfusion · 01/06/2012 16:14

Cartoon yep 11+1. Scan was amazing, baby was very active and kicking lots, I've never had a scan like it, it was very reasuring --but I'm still nervous-- both the older two were obviously lazy in utero.

cartoonface · 01/06/2012 16:20

ah wow thats brilliant! im sure uve no reason to be nervous at all

farfallarocks · 01/06/2012 16:46

state wonderful news on the scan!

smegs after eating like I was hungover for 3 months I am now also craving the fruit, salads, nice fresh food, I am pleased as I was feeling guilty for all the junk!

Hope everyone has a fab weekend

Loopyhasanotherbean · 01/06/2012 19:57

just a quickie re scans, we had to take DS with us for our 20 week scan as we don't have anyone we can leave him with round here, and they had very strict rules at the hospital, DP had to stay outside whilst i had the scan, and he and DS were only allowed in at the end for a few minutes. Pretty sure they have the same rules for the 12 week scan too, but that happened to be when DS had a nursery session.

NinjaChipmunk · 01/06/2012 21:38

Just a quickie from me to say the outlaws are coming for the long weekend so I may not be about for a few days.

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend and enjoys the bank hols.

ScrambledSmegs · 02/06/2012 09:38

Us too! Have a lovely jubilee weekend everyone!

GreenOlives · 02/06/2012 09:50

Belated congratulations to Jen Thanks (internet was very patchy on hols!)

Waves to all the PSEPP! Have a fab weekend ladies Crown

cartoonface · 02/06/2012 11:48

Just got my scan date thru! 12th June. Ill be 7wks5. I know when my last period was and pretty much when I ov'd. I'm assuming a 30day cycle I'm not sure exactly but I think thats rite. So surely then if I'm wrong I could only be further along? And ill see a heart beat right? If Theres one

cakes82 · 02/06/2012 22:30

I saw a heartbeat by that point, so I guess thats roughly about when it becomes visible. I worked out my due date and 12wk scan agreed but my early scans had a fractionally different date by a few days. Not long for you to wait :)

Biscuitsandtea · 04/06/2012 19:56

Where have you all gone?

NinjaChipmunk · 04/06/2012 22:33

i'm back! I have been celebrating having nice neighbours. It's pointless saying I've been celebrating the jubilee as I couldn't give a flying fart about the queen but I do live in an awesome street with ace neighbours who despite the rain had a great party. The inlaws have gone home and I think a good time was had by all.
In other news dp has broken it to me that he will be away in austria for a night and a day 2 days before my due date. And yes you read that right. 2 days. I shall be getting my mum to come and stay! He's away for 2 days this week too although hopefully not too much in between.
face great news about your scan date although I have no idea when you start to see the heartbeat?
I hope everyone else is having a lovely long weekend? I shall spend most of tomorrow chilling out I think...

FluffyJawsOfDoom · 06/06/2012 09:47

Hi everyone! Back from me hollibobs - hope everyone's well? :) Has Jen had mini-Jen? Can someone recap? :o Blush

Tock our hospital doesn't allow children at scans - best check before you go?

Smegs I was like that til about 16 weeks - I ate unbelievable amounts of fruit Shock

FluffyJawsOfDoom · 06/06/2012 10:36

I'm going to look at prams this weekend Shock I'd not planned on buying til I was 30 weeks (am 22 now) but it's on sale and DH is keen to save £30 Hmm

I'm getting really, really neurotic about having a pram in the house which is supposed to be bad luck - never mind buying one so early. Am I being silly? I am, aren't I?? I could get it delivered to my sisters but it means going without a pram for what could be up to a week before she visits once the baby comes......

Blush
cartoonface · 06/06/2012 10:48

Yeh I know but wot are people supposed to do with it u can't wait and buy a pram once babies born! Shove it away in a spare room or something out of sight.
Which pram is it? I was very bad last time and looked at prams by 9wks a bit over excited I was. So I know which one I want

NinjaChipmunk · 06/06/2012 11:35

could you just organise for later delivery? What pram are you after by the way. are you actually decided? I remember when pg with ds leaving john lewis nearly in tears because I couldn't cope with the fact they were all different but the same if you get my drift Grin. Do remember that the pram bit will only be used for 4-6 months or so. By 4 months ds was doing what looked like little sit ups as he really wanted to see around him so we moved him into the pushchair bit tilted back. I really need to buy new front wheels for ours, must check on ebay!
How were your hols?
Did everyone enjoy their bank holidays?

FluffyJawsOfDoom · 06/06/2012 11:55

I like the look of this, but need to try it out. I looked in JL yesterday but their selection of ones in my price range wasn't that great.

Looks like the sale has actually ended, maybe it was a jubilee weekend thing Hmm but I'll still go try one out on Sunday :o

Hollibobs were lovely thank you! :)
