Gah. Having a Bad Day. Not only am
I back to being sick, I had next to no sleep and my stomach is reacting unpleasantly to the antibiotics the other way too Blush.

And there's something nasty in the downstairs loo. We have... maggots Shock. We think something died in the roof space and they're coming in through the extractor fan. DH has taped it all up but getting rid of them has been no fun at all SadEnvy

loopy running round after a toddler is exhausting. I kept going to all dds playgroups as it was easier than having her at home but exhausted myself taking her to the playground etc in the afternoon too... Even with the dreamy twins trying to polish me off with the extreme sleep deprivation I feel better now, and have more energy though no time to play with her. So don't worry about the extra afternoon, its all temporary.
Hooray stacks great scan news.

DreamingOfPeace · 31/05/2012 13:30

Omg smegs, maggots

clickingtock · 31/05/2012 13:30

smegs - it's never straight forward Chez Scrambled is it?! Grin Poor you.

So pleased for Stacks - I can assure you it is v real. Congratulations and wonderful scan experience for you. Wishing you lots of weeks of happy second trimester now.

Sorry about upset tummies. Sounds a bit tough.

Loopy - please don't worry about your DS. I'm sure you are being brilliant, just taking care of yourself and your bump. Your DS will never remember these early days and it is all just part of him becoming a little more independent with age...

No news here. MS still dissing Tock Towers. I know that's annoying so I shouldn't rub it in. I'm a bit burpy if that helps? Smile I just wish I could find some food that is actually satisfying. I spend all day prowling around the food cupboards but still haven't cracked it.

How are all the new mums getting on?

Stacks · 31/05/2012 14:19

Afternoon. I've just had a large jacket potato with chicken tikka on top. It was amazing, but I think I'm going to feel quite unwell for the rest of the afternoon. Just far too much food!

I think stuff doesn't feel 'real' for me because I thought I'd feel like a different person being pregnant. I guess it's a bit like your 16th or 18th birthday - you're not different from the day before, something changed; you're an adult/grown up.. but nothing changed!

I really, really want to start feeling the baby move. I think that's will make things a lot more real for me. Also the 20week scan and finding out if it's a boy/girl, and being closer to Dec and due date, and being able to buy things and not feel like it's far to early to be sensible. DH is adamant we shouldn't buy stuff and store it for 6 months, but should get stuff later. Unfortunately he makes sense!

Stacks · 31/05/2012 14:25

Doh, got distracted writing that (boss came over for impromptu meeting) and forgot to say:

Smegs hope you start feeling better soon. How much longer are you on the antibiotics? I hope you can get rid of the maggots soon!
Dream nice to hear from you, I hope the twins are treating you better?
Loopy I'm sure your DS know's he's loved. As someone else said, he's going to have to be a bit more independent of you when the baby comes, so this is a good time to ease him in gently? Could you find things you can do together easily? Like painting at the kitchen table maybe, or making glitter/pasta pictures? Time with mummy when mummy can sit down :)
Tock I didn't get any actual sickness, but was pleased to have some nausea. Just reassuring enough without being awful. Hmm, I grazed on crackers and biscuits etc - also, made some home made breakfast bars. They were tasty and not too unhealthy. Also as home made I could make them into small squares and have one with a hot drink or something.

NinjaChipmunk · 31/05/2012 15:50

oh smegs not a nice combination! You poor thing. I hope you feel better and get rid of the blighters soon.
How's things with you? Have you actually managed a nights sleep in the last 6 months or so?
More house viewings going on here. I'm guessing ours may go on the market by end of next week! Have done a second viewing of a lovely one today, dp just needs to cost out putting up a workshop a the end of the garden before we decide if we want to make an offer. Got another at 6, a meeting re ds's school and 7, and another viewing tomorrow evening! I'm bloody shattered! I've started tidying the kitchen and stopped halfway through. I may need a cup of tea before I recommence.

Hope everyone else is managing to chill out as much as possible?

ScrambledSmegs · 31/05/2012 15:55

Thank you Stacks, tock and dream. I'm actually really upset over the, err, 'bugs' - I probably shouldn't have mentioned them as I know it's funny to people who aren't going through it, but seriously, it's horrible. I guess I'm a bit of a wuss really. DH is dealing with it, I did the initial clean-up in floods of tears and now I'm keeping well out of it.

Loopy I know how you feel, it's especially difficult with an active child as you know that they want to be running around and you can't do that. When I feel very bad I turn the tap on in the kitchen sink and let DD 'wash up' - which generally involves flooding the kitchen!

Looks like rain here but I did promise DD the park - looks like the full length rain-suit is due for an airing!

PS I think I've started to feel the baby move! Very chuffed :)

Smegs I'll ask my sister for some advice for you later. She works for rentokil killing things and dealing with this sort of stuff...

I was thinking, if flies have got to something, and maggots have got out - whatever they're living in can't be too far away from the place you're seeing them. Maybe get your DH to put on some protective gear and have a look around in there for what's causing it? Then put him in the shower, twice, and burn his clothes?

NinjaChipmunk · 31/05/2012 16:17

smegs its not nice at all, its traumatic if there are things like that in your house. I'd be in one of these if I were you.
DS also loves to wash stuff, or be given free reign with water and stuff to make bubbles, especially if it involves a straw he can blow though to make the bubbles himself.
Thats brilliant that you are feeling some movement. How totally lovely Smile My bean now seems to like to dig right into one of my hip bones which is quite painful. Or also it feels likes she's trying to punch though my cervix at times which really makes you stop and squeak out loud!

ScrambledSmegs · 31/05/2012 17:39

Thanks Stacks. We think something (squirrel?) has died in the extractor fan duct and is rotting in the warm weather . That's where they're coming from. DH is going to take off the fan at the weekend and sort it -can't do it tonight/tomorrow as we need an electrical expert to help as it's wired up a bit funny, and his dad is good at that sort of thing.

Ah smegs how awful id be distrot !
I hope you get it sorted soon.
stacks I know wot you mean about it not feeling real. I long to look pregnant and to feel movemoment to make it more real.
I can't believe I'm only 6wks it seems longer!

Stacks · 31/05/2012 17:56

Cat and baby picture

ScrambledSmegs · 31/05/2012 17:59

Thanks cartoon. Don't worry, you'll look pregnant soon enough! It goes faster than you think, especially second time round.

Stacks, aw cute! But, maybe not very hygienic? Wink

smegs having had a fly infestation in a student house from a dead rat (& we were not living in filth but had a crap landlord) I feel your pain. Seriously, I still have flashbacks if I think of it . It's not long til the weekend and it'll all be a distant memory.

The dreamy twins are still being total non sleeping nightmares, DT2 still up hourly difficult at night. I'm very tired and feel stretched too thin at the min with a 20 month old and two 8 week olds all wanting attention from me constantly. This part is hard!!! I've put new pics of my little brood up though.

tock very envious of the lack of ms, not convinced the burping is half so bad.

I know what you mean stacks, it didn't feel real with DD until she arrived. I didn't buy stuff either, mostly until she was here... Also partly as we were moving and didn't know if she was a boy or girl until she arrived.

TheLittleFriend · 31/05/2012 19:42

LOVE the pics dream Smile

clickingtock · 31/05/2012 22:16

Dream - sounds super tough. I hope you get a helping hand over the bank holiday weekend. To add to twins you have that close age gap. You're doing a stirling job. The pictures are amazing. You will look back on this very first tough year and think you could survive anything but you will have your lovely family and I'm sure it's all worth it. Just need some sleep eh? Yes - sorry about no MS; I realise it is quite rare. My mum was exactly the same with 3 pgs.

Stacks - it's true, you have to keep pinching yourself and rubbing your tummy (which in my case is a bit daft as it's hardly noticeable to anyone but me). I think after TTCing for as long as you and I did, it's harder to let it sink in. It helps when you can announce/talk to people. Can't wait to hear about your first flutterings. We waited til quite late with pg1 before we bought much and actually we were given so much we didn't have to buy much either disappointingly. The first thing we bought was a patchwork rabbit at the V&A; v romantic/happy moment for me and DP.

Hang on til the w'e Smegs. And keep the door firmly shut.

Just had the perfect plate of dates, cheddar and Carr's biscuits. Not really necessary after roast veg dinner, with a baked spud. But hey, I'm growing a placenta and tockybean's eyelids right now. Grin

Cartoon - hope the next few weeks fly by. Keep busy.

Ninja - all v exciting. Hope you find a dream home. xxx

Nightie night all.

clickingtock · 31/05/2012 22:19

Oops - Smegs - forgot to say so lovely to feel movements - hurray, hurray, hurray. That puts the maggots out of mind, I hope. xxx

StateofConfusion · 01/06/2012 00:08

tock I've been mad for cheese on crackers and grapes they just taste better than they ever have before!

clickingtock · 01/06/2012 08:21

Hi State - food has taken on a whole new dimension eh? Grin

StateofConfusion · 01/06/2012 08:29

It has! Sandwiches and crackers are all I want dp keeps giving me the Hmm look. I don't remember this from when I had dd!

clickingtock · 01/06/2012 09:36

Yes - I'm going big on the starch too! I'm usually a boringly healthy balanced diet person with lots of fish and veg and hardly any wheat as it doesn't suit me, especially when TTC. But all my good principles are being sorely tested. Confused I try to make sure I force some vegetables and fruit into the mix. How old is your DD now? (I know you've had some losses - I do feel for you.) You're about half way through is that right? I'm just hoping by the end of June things are a bit more back to normal. I seem to remember being more normal by about 13wks... Smile

ScrambledSmegs · 01/06/2012 09:56

Is anyone else going mad on salads and fruit then? Just me? I can't bear carbs at the moment, sweets and chocolate make me feel ill and I can only eat healthy protein like fish and lean chicken. I made a Panzanella the other day and picked out all the bread Blush

I think the ms is gone! What's weird is that I felt awful before taking the antibiotics, and now I feel great. The change was almost instantaneous. Does that mean it wasn't ms, it was the infection making me sick? Or is it all a coincidence? I think I have had the infection for a while.
