Hey,

Daisychain that is so our of order, the bank surely should be in the wrong for cancelling all of you direct debits, you shouldnt be penalised for them f*cking up.

shanelle5 · 02/06/2012 13:43

Anyone else getting tightenings like braxton hicks? Probably not new Mums but those like me with a very well used womb lol, I dont remember having them this early before but the last few days my tummy has been frequently going rock hard and tight feels like I remember braxton hicks but surely at 18 weeks its WAY to early. Any of our Midwife ladies know what it is?
Hope everyone is having a lovely weekend, shame the weather has gone down the pan a bit but isnt that typical for a bank holiday!!

Passmethecrisps · 02/06/2012 14:40

At hairdressers getting a wee back massage! Nice!

No BH for me but then I am a newbie to all this.

A shewee? Might be worth a try - last sample bottle I tried to fill the wee went EVERYWHERE. It was horrendous as I was in th docs at the time and had to try to mop me and the floor up. That can't be normal surely?

Anyway, first night on new mattress and I feel like a new woman. No back pain at all. Previous night a trip to the toilet saw my left leg nearly give way and tears with the pain. What a difference!

LittleLolly · 02/06/2012 15:44

Hi everyone, I've been neglecting this thread recently... I need to dedicate more time to keeping up!! Smile

Glad to see lots of happy scan results, and people feeling movements. I have been feeling little movements but only at night when I'm lay down. My 20 weeks scan is a week on Tues, eek can't wait! DH and I can't decide whether we want to find out or not, any advice??

For anybody who is thinking of buying the maxi-cosi cabriofix and easy-fix base... Kiddiecare have them on offer, and an extra 10% off so it adds up to about £132!! Just bought mine!

SwissArmyWife · 02/06/2012 16:32

I think i've had the occasional BH, but really not often, I think some women can feel them throughout their whole pregnancy, but most only feel them towards the end.

Lolly I'm all for finding out the gender, I think it helps you bond with the baby more, plus you can buy all the clothes and other bits and bobs so that everything is ready for when baby arrives.
Still, some people don't like finding out and like to wait, it's all down to the person/people :)
However if it's a boy you might see for yourself without having to ask!
I think you should see how you both feel at the time as you'll both have an answer on the day :)

Chunkychicken · 02/06/2012 17:04

I think I might be having BH. I didn't have any whatsoever with DD, but do they feel a bit like period pains? Low-down back & front, or is that the ligaments stretching? At the time it concerns me a little, but afterwards I forget, so it can't be that long-winded or painful.

Just doing my pelvic floors (thanks Valium Grin) and I think baby was having a fidgeting!! :)

Lolly we didn't find out with DD & won't find out with this 1 (although I am far, far more tempted to this time, not sure why) and enjoyed buying all the neutral baby bits, choosing both a girl & boy list of names etc & I loved asking the question when she was born, & choosing a name based on instinct there & then. However, I think whichever way you choose, both you & DH have to be on the same page. If one of you wants to find out, & does, or vice versa, I think it could be quite difficult. I'm lucky DH & I have the same opinion. Go with your gut. If you do find out, remember you can't un-know, so if you're not certain either way, then personally, I wouldn't and you could always find out at a private scan later (if you really wanted to). :)

daisychain76 · 02/06/2012 17:04

Thanks Iheartpasties I am going to write a letter complaining, but I just feel like I have enough on my plate (work plus half term plus dose of sinusitis)!

Lolly I am choosing not to find out this time - I read a quote somewhere about it being one of life's few real surprises and I quite like that! I did with DS because I had an awful pregnancy and needed something to keep me positive, but I didn't with DD and it was fun telling everyone the sex after she was born (I know some people find out but don't tell anyone else til after the birth, don't know how they manage that!)

Like Swiss says though, it is probably something to decide on the day if you're not sure.

TheDetective · 02/06/2012 17:09

Yes Shelly! BH for me too at 18 weeks! Noticed them last week! It's like something pullin downwards from near my belly button! I can only describe it like a vaccuum has been pushed up my lady bits and is sucking it all down! How lovely ;)

And yes it's normal :)

Thechick · 02/06/2012 17:46

Hey all. I haven't been feeling any movements, I'm 16 weeks tomo and this is dc2. I have been feeling what I thought was bh, but it seems to be different from what you guys are feeling. Mine is across the top of my belly, just under the boobs, I do have quite a bump at the mo. i dred to think what im going to look like at 6 months. My bh are more of a tightness at the top of my belly and everything goes hard. I don't think it's every day but it has been happening for a couple of weeks. I don't remember having any with ds, but it was 13 yrs ago, lol. I will be def finding out the sex when my scan finally comes around. It's such a personal thing. I was having a conversation with my best friend a couple of weeks ago about finding out. She has a ds who turned one a couple of months ago and she chose not to find out and I felt like she was laughing at me and basically saying I was wrong for not wanting it to be a surprise. I would never judge her and haven't spoken to her since, but it's not the first time she's said something that's really annoyed me.

Peaky1 · 02/06/2012 17:53

That has made me think now. I went out for a curry last night (also realised I've gone off currys so scampi n chips) and I just went all tired all of a sudden, weird pains all around my abdomen and lady bits and my tummy went all hard. Never thought it could be Braxton hicks...if anything other than standard stretchathon

LittleLolly · 02/06/2012 18:13

I'm so glad to read about the Braxton Hicks , I've been feeling period-type pains for the last few days and wondered what it was!

LittleLolly · 02/06/2012 18:18

Thanks for all your advice re finding out at the scan. We are both torn between the two options! Right now I think 'definitely have a surprise' but when I'm looking at lovely baby things, the pink or blue things are just so much cuter than a plain white babygro!! I have got some cute little yellow ones and a lovely stripy blanket from mamas & papas, but nothing else yet just in case we do find out!

Can't believe we are nearly at the halfway point!

mrswee · 02/06/2012 18:46

I'm not finding out the gender either. This is my second and we found out last time. I was a litle dissapointed not to have the surprise when she was born. So this time I'm having a surprise.
I have lots of unisex baby clothes from the last time, enough to get us started anyway ans lots of girls things should it be a girl. I am convinced it will be another girl anyway but it will be a mega surprise if I have a boy!
My cousin has has recently had aboy so there will be plenty of alomst new hand me downs if I need them.

Little9 · 02/06/2012 20:09

Hey ladies. Good to hear about BH. Have been having weird feelings bit like period pain and feeling 'heavy' and hardening in lower belly sounding a lot like ur describing. This is my first so not quite sure what BH is, but I'm sure u lovely ladies can enlighten me please?

Fly back home tomorrow. Have had a lovely hol, but both DH and myself are missing the doggies. How sad are we, lol? Strange to think that next time will hopefully be as a family, fc! Aaaaaaaargh! Panic sets in!

Hope everyone is feeling better and chirpier soon.

Chunkychicken · 02/06/2012 21:05

Remember Lolly that the newborn stage is the only one you'll risk putting white on your baby - soon after the poo explosions, vomiting, dribbling & so on render white pointless - and family, friends, neighbours, your neighbours' grandparents love a new baby & will want to buy a cute little pink/blue outfit for your bubba. There will be a surplus of lovely, gender-specific outfits, s/he will never wear them all!!! :)

Feeling lots of movement today, so the worries I expressed the other day seem silly Blush Also, can't help feeling its a boy, but DH has always adamant that his boy-ball has been tethered (after possible testicular tortion) so girls are the ordered of the day. Grin

kirrinIsland · 02/06/2012 22:10

Blimey - I'm off lone for a couple of days and catching up takes hours!

I had a blood test on Tuesday to check if i have immunity against chicken pox as I've never had it, and apparently I do, which is a relief as I've been worrying about it now DD is about to start nursery.I also had a scan (16weeks) but they couldn't tell me the sex and the baby was a real wriggler and the cord was in the way :( but not too long til the 20 week scan.

Sorry for not name checking - I need to go back and read properly!

WaitingForMe · 02/06/2012 22:23

I've been getting sudden period like cramps and my tummy goes hard. Really worrying then suddenly gone and I forget all about it. Never would have dreamed it was Braxton Hicks this early!

izzybizzybuzzybees · 03/06/2012 01:56

Just home today from holiday. Marking my spot so i can catch up...looks like it may take some time!!

Iheartpasties · 03/06/2012 02:42

Blimey at the braxton hicks, I'm not sure if I have had any so far, and really I only had minor ones with DD.

I dreamt I was giving birth the othe day! Well I was in labour anyway and I was loving it :)

We're off out shopping in a mo, I just want a browse really but I'd like to buy a new cardi if I can find one and have a look at toys for dd, and also maybe have a look at some new born things. I'm sure I had a few things on my shopping list but can't remember now, baby brain!!

20 week scans getting closer now, I somehow feel like my little baby isnt big enough to be scanned, sounds mad. But it just seems so small at the mo, I dont feel it that often. But last time with dd I felt like 'wow, 20 weeeeeks!! the baby is massive!!!'. Funny how your perspective changes.

valium how are you today my lovely

Iheartpasties · 03/06/2012 02:45

bluetinkerbell how are you feeling I have my fingers crossed for you at your 20 week scan, I hope everything goes plain sailing for you this time.

Iheartpasties · 03/06/2012 02:46

daisychain yes, please complain and a big noise about your direct debits, I'm very annoyed on your behalf. Surely the bank is 100% in the wrong.

ValiumQueen · 03/06/2012 07:11

No more bleeding thankfully. Achey discomfort after doing too much. It is impossible to rest with a crazy 2yo. My mum had her the morning yesterday and completely forgot to check her nappy as too busy making sure she did not run off or hurt herself. She was wet up to her ears, with a poo thrown in for good measure. Mum is nearly 70 and a bit worried about me. She lost her third at the same stage I am now.

16 to scan!

Bluetinkerbell · 03/06/2012 09:18

Iheart I'm ok at the moment, well as ok as I can be :) still very nervous, but can feel the baby move a bit more now... can't wait till my 17 week scan though, hopefully we can find out boy/girl, which will give me something to look forward too. On 20th June it will be a year since I gave birth to my beautiful angel. I took the day off so I can spend time with DH and DD1 to remember her.

Valium glad the bleeding has stopped! but still take it easy please! :)

we're having a street party today, probably in the pouring rain!

Passmethecrisps · 03/06/2012 09:45

Hang in there bluetinkerbell and valium

Lovely and sunny here in central Scotland. Off to the south west for a wedding later - wedding tomorrow in the woods so really hoping the weather holds out. DH bought me wellies and a waterproof yesterday so I think I have done my bit for ensuring it doesn't rain!

DH also wants to take deck chairs to ensure I get a seat - I am not sure how we will look as he also wants to take a bag of food just in case I get hungry.

Who else is lucky enough to be getting the next two days off? Any plans?

Oh, and re the gender scans chat earlier. I have lost count of people who have told me that not knowing makes the month pass easier - gives you something to focus on. Our health authority have a policy not to tell so it would need to be a private scan. At £100 it is money we could spend elsewhere really.

ValiumQueen · 03/06/2012 10:25

I will be finding out as I have two girls so if it is a boy I can get rid of a lot of clothes. That is my excuse and I am sticking to it.
