Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
applepieinthesky · 01/06/2012 11:09

Thinking of you valium It must be a worrying time but fingers crossed all will be ok. Will they give you a reassurance scan if you say you are concerned?

nervous The old wives tale is that a heart rate above 140bpm is a girl, under that is a boy. Mine was measuring at 152bpm.

eversomuch · 01/06/2012 11:21

Thoughts are with you, Valium. I hope getting some rest helps, but do go in for a scan and a check if the bleeding doesn't stop or your worry increases.

FuckerSnailInYourHedgerow · 01/06/2012 11:54

Lilliana- you think that's bad....zeus was a suggestion that DH came up with for DS. I managed to talk him out of it....

I went into town this morning and met 5 people I know. According to them I am huge and must be having twin. Right, thanks, I really needed their expert opinion. And one of them touched my bump. Ugh.

Detective- this place is a bit mental lately, it's mad that you got accused of being a troll!

Eliza - enjoy your holiday:)

Valium - I am thinking of you and sending positive thoughts you way.

gardenpixies32 · 01/06/2012 12:01

chunky and Swiss Some days I am completely freaking out with regards to movements :( I am getting in a very anxious period of my pregnancy, as I lost DD2 last year when I was 20 weeks pregnant. She died sometime between 17 and 20 weeks. I know I could possibly get some reassurance from my doppler I bought last year, but I've hidden it too well and can't seem to find it. If it wouldn't have been for the bank holiday I would have had my 16 week check this Monday but will need to wait an extra week!

Valium take it easy!

MissMummy1 · 01/06/2012 13:37

Lots of hugs and best wishes Valium. Take it easy and hope everything's okay!

I had my first ever scan yesterday at 14 weeks. Little bugger wouldn't lie straight so get to go back today for sneaky peak round two - oh and to have it dated properly! I don't think anything prepares you for that amazing experience of seeing your baby for the first time. DH couldn't make yesterday or today as at sea :( but apparently will find out 20wk scan date today and he WILL be taking the time off!

Sonographer did reveal yesterday I had a retroverted uterus? She didn't seem too worried but said they'd make a note of it and keep an eye on it. Basically instead of tilting slightly forwards mine tilts backwards into my spine. After reading a few horror stories online (idiot) I'm a bit worried. Has anyone else heard of this?

On a ranty note as well my landlord is being a complete dick. My tenancy doesn't run out until August but she's "found someone who will pay her more" and wants us out if we don't let her in and pander to her every demand. She doesn't realise DH made a living out of prosecuting landlords before retraining as a skipper so we shall see. Total stress we could do without right now though!! It's impossible for us to get a mortgage right now as he is in the process of retraining and I am finishing my research degree and starting my own business (classic timing) and there is literally nowhere else in our area to rent. Aghhhhh!

horseylady · 01/06/2012 14:05

Tell her where to go!! Breach of contract etc. Did she find you through an agency? If so complain to them as well even if it was only a search and find solution. Cheeky woman!!

At least you have time to find somewhere else!!

StuntNun · 01/06/2012 14:42

GTbaby don't worry about not feeling movements yet as they're quite hard to identify first time round and they depend on baby's position. Your insides aren't designed for detecting motion, there aren't the right kind of nerves for it so you'll only feel it when baby can punch and kick hard enough to hit something sensitive. Later when you're getting kicked in the bladder or baby's hiccoughing you'll be begging for it to stop!

OP posts:
NervousAt20 · 01/06/2012 15:37

Valium fingers crossed for you but try not to worry, easier said then done. Make sure you have lots of rest and of your still worried could you call EPU?

apple the MW didn't tell me the BPM just listened for 30sec if that and said well that's fine and that was it :(

applepieinthesky · 01/06/2012 16:08

I haven't felt any movements yet and I'm 16 weeks today. Is this normal for a first baby?

mrswee · 01/06/2012 16:11

missmummy where do you live? am I right in remembering that you live in Scotland? if so housing rights are massively in your favour, I am pretty sure she has much less of a leg to stand on that you, even if you tenancy runs out in August.

mrswee · 01/06/2012 16:16

applepieinthesky yes, in fact it's not really normal to feel movements before 18 weeks in first pregnancy, if you do you are every lucky and even then with most people it happens are 20-22 weeks

it's just that us second, third and fourth timers are all soft, stretched and have no muscle tone left so we can feel our little ones earlier!

DonnaDoon · 01/06/2012 16:27

How are you now valium? Thinking of you. Ive slept all afternoon, looking forward to not doing the school run next week. . Yay!

ValiumQueen · 01/06/2012 16:52

Not too bad here. Bleeding eased and feeling little movements so I guess little one is ok. Not proper big kicks but have not had any of them yet anyway with this one.

DH presented me with an ipad this afternoon - late christmas present apparently. Complete with Cath Kidston cover. A very welcome distraction and completely unexpected.

I will take it easy from herein. I really need to stop picking up DD2 as she is a little lump. I am going to have to teach her how to climb into the car. She is a good little climber so will probably relish the challenge.

I am so very grateful for the support on this forum x

DesperateHousewife21 · 01/06/2012 17:05

valium v v jel of your iPad + cover, I want one!!

I felt baby move today, slightly over to the right when I sat down so squished in half it felt like it was scrambling around. Haven't felt it since so it must have swum off somewhere else.

mrswee · 01/06/2012 17:26

valiumqueen well if ever there was a good excuse to sit on your arse and not get bored it's a delivery of an unexpected Ipad! that should help you rest. What a sweet DH!
Lovely news about feeling movements too, that must be very reassuring as it should be!

WestWinger · 01/06/2012 17:48

valium hope all ok - glad to hear things seem to have eased off a bit and great that you can feel movements. Keep resting and take extra special care of yourself. x

missmummy1 I have a retroverted uterus too. Sonographer noted it when I was pg with DD1 and another sonographer mentioned it this time around as well. Had absolutely no impact on my first pregnancy or delivery and so far no impact on this one either.

Off on holiday tomorrow - yay!!! Not sure I'll be saying that when the alarm goes off at 3am though......

Chunkychicken · 01/06/2012 19:40

Best wishes Valium

daisychain76 · 01/06/2012 19:48

Glad things have eased Valium. Thinking of you too Bluetinkerbell, hope you can start to feel less anxious eventually (much easier said than done, I know).

Had a very aggravating day - went into my bank about 3 weeks ago to cancel a direct debit as changing home insurance. Somehow the cashier managed to cancel every single direct debit on the account (around 20 - I pay everything like that). Found out after getting loads of letters and reinstated them all (which took ages - going through every single one I'd ever had on the account with the cashier). Thought it would all be fine as luckily no payments missed, but my bank never told anyone they were reinstated so nearly ended up with no home insurance and did end up with no pet insurance. They wouldn't reinstate it, so have had to get whole new (more expensive) policy. Ended up in floods of tears down the phone to the pet insurers and quite scared the poor man at the other end with all the sobbing! (Very rarely cry normally, definitely pregnancy hormones).

Sorry for the long rant, just getting it off my chest!

SwissArmyWife · 01/06/2012 20:52

Valium That's fantastic that you have felt movements, and so lovely of your DH to get you that ipad! :)

bluetinkerbell I can understand you're anxious, but we're all here to reassure you if you need it and i'm wishing you a healthy happy pregnancy! :)

westwinger Hope you have a lovely holiday!

Passmethecrisps · 01/06/2012 21:08

Take it easy valium no better reason to put your feet up.

Ok, I have a slightly icky question - feel free to be open in your disgust!

I have noticed an issue when I go for a wee. It seems to spray everywhere! I have never had a proper just peeing down the way with gravity and all but now it seems to want to go everywhere - it gets on the seat, on the floor, down my leg. . .

So ladies, am I alone in my faulty urethra?

GTbaby · 01/06/2012 22:43

Passmethecrisps i heard that your 'bits' swell up, so peeing in a straight line becomes difficult. now knowing this why does my clinic give wee sample pots that are about 1cm in diameter?

but i must admit my wee hasn't been going all over the place quite like you have explained.

learning to knit moss stitch, and i haven't knitted in about 5 years, and my arms and fingers hurt after just two rows!

WaitingForMe · 02/06/2012 08:45

My MW asked whether I was feeling anything at my 16wk appt. I said no but said I got funny twinges and a floaty feeling. Apparently that's the early side if feeling things. I can't identify a kick but it certainly feels as though my internal organs have been kicked if that makes sense. I've taken to saying "Oi baby, what are you doing?"

As for urine tests I'm peeing in huge jug then pouring it into the sample pot. No way could I aim - will we ever get that control back or is downhill from here?

ValiumQueen · 02/06/2012 09:20

All downhill from here. Unless you do your pelvic floor exercises religiously.

No more bleeding thankfully.

I recommend using a shewee as you can pee without sitting down, and write your name if you so wish. Very handy for samples and when spd gets bad.
