looks like I need to crack out the ipad and buy it too! Will post my username once i'm set up! (Be warned, I can't even make stick men look right!!)
Well today is a good day - last night I had the best night's sleep I've had in months, clearly extreme exhaustion is the solution to bad sleep! I only got up once (once!!!) all night long to pee, instead of my usual every 40-60 minutes! I feel a thousand times better and apparently look it (even the midwife at the hospital commented on how refreshed and well rested I looked!) Even better, my blood test results from my first set of monitoring bloods came back; they are normal!!! Now in theory that's impossible - you can't get better from pre-eclampsia without delivering the baby, but as I have a dodgy overactive immune system and the current best theory on what causes pre-eclampsia is immune dysfunction, I can only assume my fornightly dose of strong immunosuppressants last night had a positive effect! My BP was slightly up still this morning so the consultant on shift (yet another new one - they seem to have an endless supply of obstetric doctors there) has put me on labetalol. It's making me feel a little weird (tingly scalp and fuzzy head) but if it helps bring my BP down it's worth it!
Had another sweep this morning; no further dilation (but without contractions they wouldn't really expect that) but it's definitely looser than it was, was uncomfortable rather than painful which is a good sign! Still getting mucus (nothing like the huge chunk on wed night, but a regular chunk every few hours) so I live in hope of things getting going again soon!.
After leaving the hospital we went and bought fresh baguettes from this amazing french patisserie and ate them in the sunshine on the beach! There's really nothing like 4 days in hospital to make you appreciate the outside world!!
bun Do you know the name of the midwife? You should put in a complaint if it's making you that unhappy! I'd be interested to know her name/what she did, if you don't mind talking about it? For what it's worth, you got Lilly out safely and she's gorgeous and amazing so I hope you can put back the negative thoughts and focus on the good (easier said than done, I know!) I don't think you were wimpy btw - I have had years of standing up to doctors to practise and even now (particularly now) I constantly second guess my decisions and endlessly talk things through with DP. The consequences of making a wrong decision could be catastrophic and I have no idea how i'd live with myself if something I did/didn't do hurt fuzzy in any way. So trusting the doctors/not standing up for what you want is totally understandable; you do go into protect the baby mode and it's very easy to forget that your opinion on what to do is just as valid as the doctors. I think having had the experience of every single doctor I met having a different take on what was safe/advisable/required has really brought home to me just how much of a judgement call so many medical decisions are. I'll never feel bad about pushing for a second opinion from a doctor I know and trust ever again.
Hope you are having a fun day out with your sister & co! It's a good day for being out and about down here isn't it!
Ellie sorry you had a meds issue - sounds sucky! Glad you are feeling better today though! :) Just remember to not let people rush you into decisions - you can always ask them to leave the room and give you five minutes to think/discuss with your partner; there are very few situations where decisions actually have to be made in an instant and it's so much easier to spot illogical suggestions/stand your ground when you take some time out to think things through!
Davina Oh my god - she's beautiful!! What a gorgeous little girl!! You must be so proud
Kayzr Congratulations! :) Hope you are enjoying your first weekend as a married couple! :)
